This so far is my favorite park in indy. It's very stunning and flows like you are going hiking within your own city. I enjoy the natural stairs that have been implemented but even more so i love the flowing water that lives on the top of the hill after you climb it. Almost as if you have been rewarded for your short journey. Sometimes if you catch it after it rains, there is flowing water throughtout the whole park. By the higher river, i like to do my meditation there. It's perfect with the flowing water and fallen trees that you can rest on. Not many come to this park at the same time, so it never feels over crowded and the pollution is very low. I'd come to this if you would like some peaceful alone time. Or if you want to bring a group of friends or your dog. However you come, you won't regret it.
This is a small park for hiking in Indianapolis. The place has a dense covering of forest, and is a good place to hang around to avoid direct sun in the afternoon. There is a very shallow stream there where one can sit for some quiet alone time. Overall not great for hiking but a decent place to enjoy nature when the sun is beating down on summer afternoons.
Playground
There is a small playing area next to the parking lot, but this place is not covered with woods.
Dog-friendliness
This place is completely dog friendly.
Picnic area
There are many small picnic spots in the woods near the stream or near the playground.
One of my favorite parks in Indianapolis. It has a wide open grassy area, a small shelter with a few picnic tables, and some extensive trails through the woods. All the trails are fairly wide and well kept, with lots of access to small rocky beach areas along the creek. There are two entrances and parking areas: one on College, and another 75th just west of Westfield. The two entrances take you to separate networks of trails that are separated by Williams Creek. You can also enter the park on the east side via the Monon trail. We've seen lots of birds here, including pileated woodpeckers and kingfishers.
Great little park. Plenty of walking to do and a pretty creek flowing through it, as well as a significant hill to hike up. Not a whole lot of space, but still plenty to lose sight of the road and escape the feel of being in a city. Beware of wading around in the water, though. I haven't gotten one on me, but I have found little leeches in there. Eww. But the trees are beautiful, and the water is nice to look at. The people I've come across are mostly young to old people walking their dogs or just walking themselves. Haven't ever come across anyone sketchy, and I've been here multiple times.
Marott is one of my favorite parks in Indy. It is a short drive from Carmel, and offers a good excuse to go grab something to eat in Broad Ripple following the walk in the woods. The park is beautiful in all seasons, and very relaxing with its quiet trails among the trees and along the stream. It takes about 15-20 minutes to cover the trail, and one is likely to encounter happy dogs frolicking in the water, or playing fetch with their owners. The large grassy open area has several benches and shelters, ideal for warm weather picnic.
NO ONE KEEPS THEIR DOGS ON A LEASH! If you are uncomfortable with that, go to a different park. There is a sign that dogs should be leashed at all times but no one else’s dogs were leashed and we had multiple dogs approach us with the owners not acknowledging them or calling them off when I would take my dogs a different direction. The dogs were mostly chill, so it just depends on how you feel about off leash dogs. The trail is ok, not very long. There is a water area that dogs go in.
This is a very beautiful place where young kids can play in a creek or run around in the grass. I traveled 25 minutes to get there. In my opinion, I don't feel it was worth the drive, though. Very good spot for locals, but not someone coming from further away. Several picnic tables, but only one covered. The majority of the trails are currently closed due to updating, so only able to spend a short time there. :( There are no restrooms and we couldn't find the crooked house.
The park is great for free play and light hiking. My kids enjoyed stomping around the creek, finding birds and chipmunks and meeting other kids. The only thing keeping me from giving this park 5 stars is the lack of any type of bathroom facility. It would be a perfect place to spend an entire day, if only the little kids had a place to pee. We had to cut our afternoon short, to everyone’s disappointment.
Went here for a short walk to kill some time before my flight - wish I had had more time to walk more! It was very peaceful - not many people, just a few and most had dogs. The paths are small/narrow so my friend and I walked single file for the most part. We did have trouble navigating - finding paths that would go through and not be a dead end. Lovely Park, go check it out!
I drove past Marott Park for years, thinking it was just a little clearing on College Ave. But it is so much more. Beautiful large trees cover hilly woods where Williams Creek and a finger of the White River join. You can find small mouth bass in Williams Creek and lots of cool critters. This was our favorite place to go creek stomping with the kids when they were young.
It's a nice place to get off the paved trail that is the Monon and onto some dirt trails through the woods and down to the river with some great places to relax and enjoy the views. However, some of the trails were overgrown and there was no real signage or indication of where the trails went, which is the primary reason for only giving it three stars.
This park has much to offer to the few that can park in it small parking lot. There is a shelter and large field right next to the parking lot; perfect for family gatherings. However, this park's best features are the good sized wooded area full of well maintained trails and a sandy bottomed creek that runs through, down to the river.
The park is really pretty and I'm so surprised that it's so close to home. There are picnic tables, trails, places to walk down to the White River, and more.
Playground
There is no playground.
Restrooms
There are no restrooms.
Picnic area
There are tables, and a field where you could lay picnic blankets.
Always love this park! My dog's favorite spot to hike and go for a little swim! I have gotten 5 other people out here just to enjoy the park. Having gone for 4 years or so now, it still remains my favorite. This park changes beautifully in layout over the years and keeps the adventure alive for our doggos and us.
It is a great place to explore. The trail is on the easier side but with elevation changes. The combination of hills bridges and steps make it a bit of a mixed media trail. There are some nice water crossings and Stone beaches. There is great for dogs as well. The only real drawback Is parking is quite limited.
This is a great place to take your dogs for a walk. There are some small streams that flow through here and it gives the dogs a place to cool off in the hot summer days. Unfortunately, no mountain bikes are permitted and there are no trails built here. It would be a great place for an urban MTB park...
Marrot is one of my all time favorite parks. It’s kind of like three parks, really, because it’s cut into segments by the river and Williams Creek, offering a different experience depending on what entrance you use. It’s well managed while still feeling natural. Great trails and great memories.
Shocking to find such a beautiful patch of woods so close to so many people (less than a mile north of Broad Ripple). We grilled out on a gravel island in the middle of a creek, completely surrounded by water and tall trees that provided shade from the 92F heat. What a local gem!
Great park to take your dog to! There are woodsy trails (all the smells for pups + chipmunks to chase) and lots of rocky/sandy beaches for your pooch to cool off in. Just looks like a field from the parking lot, but you'll be pleasantly surprised once you take off down a trail!
Light to moderate hike. Nice out of the way trails. Appreciated the maturity of it being kept up with and cordening off sections to allow regrowth and restoration. Being born and raised in the country, this was such a great opportunity for it being in the city.
It's such a peaceful place to go on a hike for a weekday evening! I highly recommend you go! It also has great places for photos! They have a small part being sectioned off to be left alone right now but it's still a great nature preserve to visit. More
Its very small but if the river is low and you enjoy creek stomping you can cross over and enjoy twice the beauty on the other side. Official access/parking is on College but you can access across the creek directly from Monon Trail just south of 79th.
Great place to walk your dog or just go for biking and exercise . You get a real forest feel on the trail. There is sort of a open body of water don't know what to call it where I saw ppl swimming so you can do that as well. It's a very relaxing spot
Very quiet and peaceful place, it is hard to tell that it is fairly small and in the city when you are by the creek. I don't know how recent it was, but the (lime?)stone stairs were added and bark now helps with mud on the trail in the wet season.
Wooded trails lead down to Williams Creek. The creek runs cool and it's a great place to cool off, play and learn. Take your river rats and maybe a hammock. There are no facilities and little parking, but then that's what keeps the crowds away.
I go here all the time. Lots of little trails and runs along the monon. Many dog owners go here regularly so it's a good place to meet new dog friends. Many like to go into the creek for a swim to. The parking on college gets you to the
The creek in it self is amazing. Especially on a hot summer day. Very enjoyable with kiddo and toddlers. The forest part is very interesting and give a nice look at what Indianapolis used to look like before the city. A gem.
This place is amazing!!! Most everyone has dogs and it is a great place for the dogs to get some energy out and for the family to get some exercise. It is huge and the creek is awesome to go hang out when it's warm!
Not bad. The field between the parking lot and the river needs to be mowed because the grass is too tall. Also we couldn't find that half circle structure anywhere. So signs would be helpful
Nice offroad trails for running and walking. Some of the trails are closed for vegetation regrowth, but still not bad. Short of biking, but still okay if you want to do a bunch of laps.
Best hidden Park in indy. Dogs love it. Flowers, nice walking paths. Nice flowing river. BEWARE OF TICKS IN AREA. OUR DOG GETS THEM JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME. BRUSH YOUR DOG AFTER VISITING.
Very surprised by this small but very nice park in a quite busy neighborhood. like the small patches next to the water and nice walk along the trail. It would be a great park for dogs.
Great spot all year round. Always bring my dog here and let him off leash. Great trails on both sides of the creek. I love it especially in the winter when it gets dusted with snow.
A very great place to go walk. Although its short its still beatiful too see and i had alot of laughs with my friends and family there!! And its not crowded as much as other parks!!
A hidden gem in the city, it is a beautiful place where you can go a hiking, your kids will have fun in the creek, your pets too. It's quiet, peaceful, perfect ace for relaxing.
Great place to walk the dogs. Large open field where people were enjoying picnicking on a Wednesday evening. Lots of winding trails in the woods with river access. Nice evening!
Clean park, easy maneuvering, 50/50 chance of people having their pet on a leash, river that flowes in-between the trails, and never too congested. (My girl has a long lead on)
I’m from Ohio and was trying to find walking trails for me and my little dog. These were very nice trails and we had a great time taking pictures. There was Beautiful scenery!
A nice city park. The trails go off in all directions so it can be a bit of a challenge to navigate. The park isn't that big so it's not a big deal. Creek is nice to play in.
Overall a cool trail, currently there's a lot of areas under construction which limits where you can walk. Would recommend waiting until the construction completes to visit.
What a great resource this park is for Indy/Broad Ripple area! A little remote quiet haven within the busy Broad Ripple area...right across from Park Tudor on College ave.
Its a beautiful hiking place. Me and my bf love going here. There's a big stream and we find shells everywhere. Its a good workout too if you go up the few steep hills.
A beautiful park, great trails and shade. However, multiple people letting large dogs run without a leash. Good to know if you are bringing children or your own pet.
In my opinion Marott park us the most "naturey" feeling park in Indy. Good trails lots of water features and my favorite place around here to lay back in my hammock.
Great shaded trails all around the park and easy access. The trails could be better marked, I got a little turned around in there. Thankfully its not too big.
Wonderful park tucked in town just north of Broadripple. Nice light hikes. A nice creek. A little bit of real wilderness. Perfect for a relaxing walk.
Beautiful park to walk through with lots of nice views and water to see. Some of the trails were a little grown over but we enjoyed our walk anyway!
We absolutely LOVE this park. We have been walking it for almost 15 years now. Williams Creek flows through it and it is so lovely all year around!
Walked the Monon Trail from 75th St to Kessler Blvd & back. Two parking lots, one on 75th and one on College. Fun park with a lot of hiking trails.
Great small park with a few short trails with access to Williams Creek. Wonderful place to bring a hammock or just sit along the water and relax.
Love this trail. Very well secluded . Nice parking space. Great for families and the river part is peaceful and fun for stomping with the kids.
Great city park! Easy trails to walk on. We where able to take the dog and let him get into the river before it flows in the the white river.
Nice place for a short run or walk with hills, flat trails, and woods everywhere! Dog friendly, too! The river/creek adds a nice touch, too.
We love to take kids here to explore in every season. Beautiful area, nice bathrooms, and we especially love when the story walk is there.
Very pretty views and nice walking trails. My husband and I can't wait to go back again! We didn't have a chance to explore the whole park
Great place to walk the dogs in the city. Can be a busy park at times. They’ve been working on upgrading the trails and it is a lot nicer!
This place is huge and beautiful! Great trails, and some benches in the shade, great for fall photos! Can't wait to see it in the spring ❤
Incredible to know that such a natural area exists INSIDE the city. Very peaceful. Highly recommend checking it out; bring a dog or not.
Best place to get lost in nature without actually having to go far...I feel blessed to have something this wonderful near my home!
Beautiful! I am glad this place exists!!! Happy trail runner here.
Dog-friendliness
Just please keep your dogs on a leash!
This is the park my daughter's boyfriend proposed to her at. Really nice scenery, trails and a great place for nature photos.
Super day with kiddo. A different adventure at every fork. Bring creek stomping shoes and bug spray to make the most it.
Our go-to hiking spot! Very dog friendly. Especially in the summer when the streams are running to cool down the pups!
Quit blowing up the spot with your toddlers and agro dogs. Best off leash dog spot in Broadripple for friendly dogs.
Relatively small park but with many different trails and lots of running creek water. My dog has a blast here.
A great place to relax, and take in nature, very close to Broad Ripple, there are trails, and viewing vistas.
Find the beautiful red roots, get a spot to listen to the running water and see the lights through the trees!
There is a hidden stream that families set up tents and enjoy fishing, sun bathing and splashing in the water.
Nice place for the family. Outdoor art and nature trails.. Big creek with a bridge to walk over it
I love walking everyday through this little slice of paradise in the middle of the bustling city
Awesome park. A hidden jewel of parks. It's like walking in state park inside of marion county.
Nice place lots to do and pet friendly just have to keep them on the leash and it’s free ❤️
Great place to walk around. Creek is great for playing in if you have dogs or kids.
Nice park...so good to be in the wooded areas..finding peace
A hidden gem in Indy. Mini Brown County in 100+ acres.
Nice rustic walking trails with lots of shade
