My husband, newborn and I went to Matilda’s for brunch on a Saturday morning. A little busy when we arrived, but they welcomed us and organised a table for us that allowed for our pram to be out of the way. The overall experience was mediocre. We sat for five minutes before I asked my husband to go get menus since none of the wait staff came back to our table and so I thought we must have to order at the counter. My husband was then given menus at the counter and told that it is table service. We had to ask for cutlery and water for our table after our food arrived. In hospitality I assumed it is practice to seat customers, provide menus & water and set cutlery after the order has been taken. It just feels like the service was a bit disorganised and that the staff were inexperienced. There were plenty of staff on and more often than not, they were just standing at the counter. So not sure if it’s teething issues or training. In saying the above, we’d still come back and try the woodfire pizza in the future to see how Matilda’s is going.

Went in Saturday just for takeaway, coffee was ok but rating is for customer service - no greeting, just a man who went to hand me a menu and I said I was here for takeaway he just pointed to a young girl near the counter. Young girl was helpful however seemed very deflated - stepping back and watching the staff, it may have had something to do with the male barista who seemed to be very bossy and rude towards her - constantly snapping at her and making it look like she was in his way and just appeared really inconvenient to him having her there - even when I asked for something in the cabinet she asked me if there was something else with that price as she was having a little trouble finding what I asked for (which was perfectly fine), however, the man snapped at her and said "it's all the same just this" and pressed the button for her. Even when waiting for the coffee, there wasn't a very clear area to stand but when I was in the waiters way ryere was bo "excuse me" to get past, just a rude brush through. Also if a name is provided for an order, the barista should use it.

Went Cup Day for lunch. Only a handful of patrons there at the time. Ordered a burger and some fried calamari so not elaborate by any stretch of the imagination. Took 50min to come out! We were literally minutes from getting up and leaving. Food was ok. Nothing special. Burger was nice but calamari was oily and had a batter on it that was reminiscent of a KFC coating. Also, $50 odd for 7 small pieces of calamari and a smallish burger is a little rich IMO. This is Clyde North after all. Can’t even imagine how long you’d have to wait if they were actually busy. I only live down the road and was excited to have a new place to eat and have coffee but unfortunately I’m doubtful if I’ll be returning in any hurry. Maybe it’s just teething problems but for now it’s a hard pass from me.

**Do NOT recommend ** Matildas Cafe clyde North, atmosphere was nice. However after ordering food on 11th June 2023 me and my family waited a while for food, part of our order was wrong and undercooked. Then noticed an allergic rash on my 3 yr olds face after eating a Ham and cheese toastie, when I opened it up I found what appeared to be small metal flakes inside her toastie !! , resturant was quick to blame bread provider however I believe it came off a surface of somthing in their kitchen. They were good with providing refund at my request (waiting for it to clear) and offered complimentary item, however I refused I no longer had faith that I was eating at a safe restaurant, and needed to leave to get my child allergy medication. I wont be returning ever.

1st visit with my elderly mum & was very disappointing. For 2 people brunch almost $80 with 1 glass of orange juice costing $8 .50 & coffee $7 (cheaper in the city) & scrambled eggs (undercooked & still runny) with 1 piece of toast $28 with all sides extra, a bit of wilted spinach (not even a handful) $4.90. Food tasted good (Halloumi was generous serve (only positive), hash brown was some sort of homemade hash brown so was very disappointing with chunk of potato. (nothing like a real hash brown). Had to ask for the coffee & juice as it was forgotten. Won’t be going back that’s for sure & I’m local so was looking forward to having a cafe close by. Family went to dinner previously warned me that it’s very pricey & not worth it, should have listened.

Despite reading some negative reviews, I decided to give Matilda's Cafe a chance when my daughter expressed an interest in dining there one late afternoon. I'm glad I did! The pizza was excellent, and the serving staff were polite and attentive. A special thank you to the friendly young barista who always seems to have a smile on his face. Let's support our local eateries, even if they make mistakes from time to time. If you're not satisfied with your experience, let the manager know so they can have a chance to make things right. We need more cafes around that area. Let's support all of them!

It's a nice cafe for a good feed, we had to try the wood fired pizzas for starters, the potato and onion was really delicious, and from the mains the Parma was large and super tasty and the linginui, salmon and gnocchi were all excellent. For 5 adults and one 2 year old with the entrees, mains, bottle of wine and a few bourbons it was 260, so approx 50 a head and we left full with a couple little boxes of leftovers. The only reason I marked them down a point and they were very apologetic was that all the mains did not come out at the same time, probably 5 mins from start to end, but that will not keep us away.

Not only can you smell the food, you can also smell the passion in this place - The food has exceptionally great quality ingredients more importantly the chefs seem to very much understand the virtues of a balanced approach to flavor in their dishes - I had 3 different ones. I am certain in my taste bugs that all things are made in house - Sauces, Fillings, Sides. Thoroughly impressed with the food and have not been more excited about a new restaurant in months. The staff are friendly and although your not going to feel like your at a some fancy restaurant, I can say you might just feel like family. and lastly as far as prices go - I don't care at this stage, for this I would easily drive 30+ minutes as well.

Ordered two pizzas - potato and pepperoni - for takeaway. Pizza prices are average for wood fired pizzas - not a cheap option but nice for a treat. 30 minute wait once ordered. Overall pizzas were alright but we feel there is room for improvement which we hope will happen with time being open. We felt that the potato pizza base needed a longer cooking time, whereas the pepperoni was almost overdone for our liking. We also felt the potato pizza could benefit from more potato toppings and less red onion. Definitely room to improve - We will give them time to settle and look into again once settled pending more reviews.

Visited on a Thursday afternoon at approx 3pm for an hour. Ordered coffees which were nice and a bowl of chips. Tried to order a dessert but was advised that the kitchen was closed which was disappointing. Reason for the drop of 1 star is the cleanliness of the seating areas. Upon walking in, 2 tables were left with dirty dishes with customers already gone, during our visit another 2 tables became free but dishes remained. We remained in the restaurant for an hour, there was no attempt to clean any of the tables during this time.

Experience went from bad to worse. Waited for menus didnt even give us time to look at it. Was only given a small menu with not to much to choose from. Notced at the counter they had bigger menus didnt get one. Asked about the slices and things displayed at the front. The old guy didnt even know the names of the cakes and slices. Had to find a way to open our own carona bottle. No music just made the space weird and awkward. Toastie can with no cutlery and plates waited abit but had to ask for those. So in otherwords staff need more traning in hospitality and customer service. Definitely wont be back.

Great new local restaurant. Went on a quiet weeknight, we were the only patrons - excited to see this get busier as they get better. Pizza was lovely, service was nice but yea could tell they are working through some teething issues. I would suggest doing something about the sliding door, especially during winter as anytime someone walked past you got a massive breeze. Went for a mothers day lunch! The restaurant did not appear too busy yet the staff somehow seemed stressed and a little all over the place (e.g. multiple people taking our orders). Staff however appeared to be friendly. We got our first dish out but there was no cutlery given. We waited 5-7 minutes thinking they would bring it. Eventually I asked for it. Pizza dough was good. However it was overly cheesy and soggy with cheese. Tomato sauce lacked flavour and so did the the meat. Zucchini fritters we’re yum!

No greetings whatsoever when you enter the place, you're kind of puzzled wheter to have a seat or wait for then to usher you. My Partner & I went for breakfast this morning. Very good food! I couldn’t recommend more. We go for breakfast quite frequently and I would say this is one of the best breakfasts I have had in awhile. The homemade hash browns were fabulous! The Service from Levi was very enjoyable! We shared wood fired gourmet pizzas for lunch. The pizzas were next level, really well presented and delicious. We also had the Nutella calzone which the kids loved (and the adults). No customer service at all. Need a proper training to all the staffs. Its look like everybody is running here and there. No one knows what to do. We were waiting in line to get the table for 10 mins at the cash counter. The guy told us, you can seat on this table. After 5 mins, girl came and told us sorry all tables are booked. Very annoying.

Dropped in for breakfast, service was decent. Food was good. Coffee was pretty good. Staff were friendly and very accommodating.

Good coffee No muffins for egg and bacon muffins on Menu Took the two Haloumi / Egg brioche rolls out of display cabinet took the Haloumi off and put bacon on and served to us untoasted. Spinach was not wilted which you’d expect. Brioche not fresh and cold Saturday morning how hard is it to go to Cole’s and buy some muffins?

We’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of Matilda’s, and it was worth the wait! The potato rosemary and caramelised onion pizza was pure perfection. Can’t wait to come back again and try the rest of the menu, very glad to be walking distance from this amazing restaurant.

The food is delicious with very fair price, pizza is really delicious, the staff is very attentive and friendly, we had a great time and will come back for sure!!
