Few months ago my duck Orange Bill got heavily injured. A metal rope cut through her belly luckily no organs hurt. I took her to Mayfair immediately cause I did some research before that this is the best Avian clinic in Tas. The team is so supportive. The nurse kept hugging my duck to comfort her and Doctor Kim kept saying sorry while checking her wound by hands. These details really comforted me at that hard time. Then my duck experienced a surgery and it was successful. After 3 weeks she recovered. Few weeks later she got metal poisoning and I took her to Mayfair again. Doctor Caro helped me a lot also the nurses Harper, Laura and others sorry don't know your names. They are professional and warm. They have gave me some good suggestions on duck nutrition and safety aspects. Now Orange Bill is very very healthy all thanks to Mayfair! She IS my daughter so many many thanks for saving her life! Amazing experiences with these guys for the last year and a half. Heard in a forum that they're the best vets for rats in Tasmania, and whilst they admitted they weren't experts they could have fooled me! Always quick to get an appointment in, wonderful and safe scrotal neutering for my baby boy Freddy (Perfect recovery and they made sure he was comfy), awesome with antibiotics when my boys need them. Reasonable prices and wonderful vets who put your pets comfort first. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Update: still as amazing as ever, providing amazing palative care for my babies years later! I can not recommend Mayfair and their fantastic staff highly enough. I fostered and then adopted a kitten with megaoesophagus who has grown into the most beautiful, healthy and loving cat thanks to the care Carolyn, Eloise and the rest of the team have given her and the support they have given me and everyone else involved in her care. They go above and beyond to help and they are compassionate, honest and incredibly knowledgeable. Dapple and I adore this team and we won’t go anywhere else ❤️

The young receptionist was so friendly and helpful, the vet was very kind and professional. We had a unwell guineapig and all the town recommended Mayfair Vet Clinic! The vet was also very honest and patient with all the advice. Thanks to her, our guineapig who couldnt even walk properly and lost so much weight is now running and getting fatty:) Highly recommended place! Although it is much further away from us, We would like to continue coming to this place. Definitely worth extra miles.

They told me my dog had a tumour on his liver. They took me to a separate room to tell me to put him down. I came back the next day with a list of questions that I put to all three vets at the same time: can u come to my house; who administers the drug; can I hold him; how much would it cost? I then took him to the vet across the street, David; gave David the records from Mayfair & he said he could fix my dog.That was 2 years ago and the dog is doing fine. Not all vets are alike!

These guys have constantly been amazing for my birds and their support for Featherheads Bird Rescue. I have been there more often than I have my own doctor and they have always taken the time to explore things with me that might be happening with any of the rescues that I pick up. I miss old James and his grumpy demeanour but Caroline has done awesome things for the clinic and I look forward to continuing to work with Mayfair for many years.

It's such a relief to have an Avian Vet there so that my birds and chickens are seen by someone who specialises in this field as a lot of vets have no understanding and some even refuse to treat birds, and I don't mind doing the 4hr round trip either because all that work there Vets and staff alike are empathetic, and when needed sympathetic, while at the same time professional.

Everyone at Mayfair Vet Clinic are absolute Angels as far as we are concerned! They go above and beyond for our pets (family members) as well as us as owners. From consulting with other specialist to phoning to check on us and how we are coping. There isn’t anyone else we would trust to take care of our hairy and feathered family members.

Great care and friendly staff. A little pricier than vets on the mainland, but as a new Tasmanian residen, I am not sure if this is the norm for pricing here or if they are simply a little expensive. Given that is my only complaint, I cannot detract a star for what may be commonly accepted in the area. Thank you to all the staff.

Caring and extremely skilled team of professionals who treat each patient as an important individual. Give consistently high level veterinary advice, and obtain specialist instruction where needed, ensuring best possible outcomes. We couldn’t ask for more for our menagerie of dog, cat, rabbit and Guinea pigs. Highly recommend.

Major disappointment in the privatize of customer information, releasing information of my pet to someone i don't even know. To make it worse they lost the blood test after charging me $549.39. They did offer to redo but as if after the trouble they caused by giving info about my pet. I never return to this vet.

James Harris' knowledge and experience with avian and "pocket pets" is second to none in Southern Tas. I only hope that experience is being passed on to someone else to take over when James finally decides to put his feet up and retire. Prices are very reasonable compared to other surgeries.

Amazing team of skilled practitioners. They repaired jeeves the cat’s cleft palate in what is possibly a first for Tasmania. Our dog loves them. They are informed, experienced and compassionate with skills with both the animals and their owners. Thoroughly recommend this practice.

I always recommend Mayfair Vet clinic. Dr James Harris is fantastic with all my pets and is very reasonably priced. I found Mayfair when my daughters rabbit was sick and my local vet was unable to help. I now travel 30 minutes to take all my pets to see James!

Very professional service, vet was very thorough and explained in a way I could understand. My cockatiel was very relaxed in the room and not scared being handled. Fees were very reasonable. Highly recommend if you have pet birds of any kind

Dr James Harris is the Vet to go to with a sick hen...... I was worried it might be expensive but was happily surprised at the consultation fee and then follow up over the phone. Great supportive advice and my hen made a full recovery.

Apparently the practice has changed hands and Dr James Harris is only here one day a week now, but the vet who attended to my little rat was intelligent, knowledgeable and compassionate. Really reasonable price point, lovely premises.

The staff at the Mayfair vet have been nothing short of exceptional. Been multiple times with my cockatiels and always very understanding and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this vet if you have birds that need a check up or ailments

Very helpful reception staff. Dr James Harris is very knowledgeable in his field. 1st starting going to him with my guinea pigs about a year ago and he is very good with small animals.

Lovely staff, I bring my green cheek conure here and there is clear enthusiasm and love for these small feathered babies which can be difficult to find in vet clinics.
