Xtra points for his reccd. a Doggie chillaxin’ Med (Trazodone) when our lil fella was to take his 1st Airplane Trip to Arizona-and Cumin was a Rock-star! on the flight… ✈️ No barkin’-No Fidgeting- jus’ Chill + SUPER friendly to the entire Staff on our 4 hr. Flight! what a joy that experience was. (Oct.’22-update)-we needed an EU Health Certificate to take our dog to Portugal - & Dr. Drew Sullivan -personally- stepped in to help us verify/validate Cumin’s health safety!) (Cumin now holds an EU Pet Passport (Sept’23 Update)-after “something” was irritating CUMIN’s R. Rear paw (Nail-bed), causing him to constantly lick it-we took him to MEDVET ER where they expressed oozing pus/gave us antibiotic/Pain-Meds/a Collar-of-Shame, & a $349.00 Invoice. After 6 days it was still RED/NOT healed-& Dr. Sullivan’s Technician, Christy took Cumin to investigate, & showed us a .375” piece of sumpin she pulled out of his Nail-Bed. Last month my cat Punkin got very sick. The clinic was completely booked and we weren't able to get in to see Dr Sullivan, her regular Vet. It was also a holiday so unfortunately, we ended up in the Emergency Room. The next few weeks were a whirlwind of ERs, hospitals and unfamiliar doctors. After a lot of expensive tests and medications that weren't helping, it was clear Punkin was getting worse. I had to end her pain but I needed to get her back to the doctor and the place I trusted. Dr. Sullivan wasn't in the day I called and I was a little concerned about Punkin seeing yet another new doctor after everything she'd been through. But the minute I called I knew we were in great hands. Samantha was so sweet on the phone. When we walked in, she took one look at my face and immediately whisked us off to a room. Ruta took care of the business end. Consent forms, payment, etc., yet she never made us feel like just another transaction. And Dr. Valbuena was so kind and comforting. She treated Punkin as if she were her own. She gave us so much of her time & it felt like we'd known her forever. I've been through this many times with other cats and I have never received the level of caring and compassion we experienced that day. I want you all to know how much you are appreciated and how much peace you gave me that day as I said goodbye to my sweet girl. I am forever grateful, thank you all so much Julie & Punkin.

We have been taking our yorkies here for over 5 years. Recently, one of our dogs started spotting, years after being spayed. She had to have an exploratory surgery to investigate the cause. I was anxious, upset, and nervous about whether I was making the right decision with the surgery. However, from the initial blood work and planning led by Dr. Slaughter to the actual surgery by Dr. Sullivan, everything was done with compassion and respect. The morning of the surgery, Dr. Sullivan patiently answered all of my questions while standing outside in the cold. After the surgery, he explained that he had removed several large masses and then answered several more questions without rushing me off the phone. My dogs surgery turned out to be way more complicated than anticipated, and the pathology results determined that it was a rare cystic formation. Once again, Dr. Sullivan thoroughly explained the findings of the pathology results. I’m grateful to this place for always providing great care. The receptionist and technicians are all so amazing and professional as well! I can’t thank you all enough for what you do, and for the empathy and compassion that you maintain throughout all your interactions. I’m so glad to have found this veterinary clinic for my dogs. Thank you!

This practice is AMAZING. We recently started seeing Dr. Sullivan after having negative experiences at our previous vet office with our anxious and shy rescue dog. The staff at this clinic is so incredibly patient, kind, and care so much about the pets (and their parents). Our sweet girl was very anxious when we tried to leave her for her dental cleaning. Dr. Sullivan offered to start the sedative medications in the room with us and then once she got very sleepy he took her back to wait for her cleaning. He also did her first so she wouldn't have to wait long. The tech who took care of her after the cleaning was so calm and patient with her. This team has changed her vet experiences around and we cannot thank them enough for being so patient and treating her with such compassion (and her parents!). We know it's not easy having to take extra steps to help an anxious dog feel comfortable. Plus, their prices are extremely reasonable and they never recommend unnecessary items. Thank you Medical District Veterinary Clinic at IL for going above and beyond for the care our precious animals.

I'm compelled to write my first Google review after being a client for many years of Med District Vet (first with Dr. Grossman, and now with Dr. Kritzman as Dr. Grossman left in 2021 to pursue working at a vet hospital). My dog is a rescue pup and AmStaff mix (aka pitbull), and has challenges ranging from separation anxiety to fear of strangers, needles, and going to the clinic. All the staff - from the front desk, to the techs, to the veterinarians, are top notch - they are responsive, compassionate, and the prices are fair in comparison to other places in the city. The staff this year has gone above-and-beyond with him: he had a medical emergency right as I was leaving on an international vacation and they worked with my friends and family members while I was across the world & in a very different time zone to help my dog nurse back to health. And for his annual appointment, in which he has to be sedated (given his fear above leads to aggression) they have acted with compassion and were accommodating to dealing with his behavior, instead of treating my dog like he's a stereotype.

These people are absolutely fantastic, every last one of them: office staff, vet techs, and vets. Both my pups have food/environmental allergies so I am there often to get allergy shots and to treat the occasional ear infection. Every visit is a good visit. My puppy LOVES the vet and drags me to the door when we arrive. They've been extremely understanding about my puppy's reactivity to ear/paw exams and my pup loves the staff even though he hates the exams. TW: Dog Death They were with me every step of the way when my older dog started to decline, they did everything they could to keep her healthy and happy until the very end. I was scared, worried, frustrated, and sad as my pup declined. I received tons of compassion and support that goes far above and beyond what I expected from a veterinary clinic.

I went for dental surgery and was provided with an cost estimate from Dr. Calderon on 1/5/23, estimate good thru 4/5/23. Went back and received antibiotic to treat the swelling for the same dog on 1/12/23, and was given another estimate reflecting PRICE INCREASES, as per the unprofessional vet tech ASHLEY, who rudely snatched my paper work from my hands and told me whatever to my complaint. Fortunately, I had the foresight to record our conversation in the event of what was told to me by ASHLEY about the price increase was recanted. No complaints about the other staff, and the level of care was standard. Prices are comparable to some higher end vets, but they seem to also heavily pad their charges, SO SCRUTINIZE THEM CAREFULLY, AND GET YOUR SERVICES ITEMIZED. Nothing special about this place....

I don’t know if it’s just me, but for me, finding a good vet is like finding a good therapist. It’s SO hard. I haven’t had very good luck with vets and that is in no way reflective of the people who work there, it’s more of a supply/demand dynamic. I just moved to Chicago and I was dreading having to go thru the lengthy process of establish my dog w a new vet, but alas. It was like a veterinary angel came down and blessed me! Medical district vet is so efficient, caring/loving, fast-acting, knowledgeable, and affordable. My dog has a lot of medical problems and I can barely afford it…truthfully I can’t, but Med District Vet accommodates my financial needs, and is all around amazing. Everyone who works here is the best and I mean that from the bottom of my heart

Dr. Valbuena is an awesome vet. I had three extractions for my cat. She was so kind and understanding during the whole process. The way she handled him and communicated with me through everything was really much appreciated as I was more nervous than my little buddy going in. Cost-wise, I think they are much more cost-effective than other vets and they do provide estimates upfront and explain what costs might vary and such. It's hard to give perfect estimates without actually having your pet under anesthesia to see what exactly is going on, but they got the estimate pretty close which was great to see. I would highly recommend Dr. Valbuena and the gang at Med District! Super-compassionate, polite, and knowledgeable. Thank you again, everyone!

Wow wow wow! If you are looking for great vet care please look no further and book an appointment immediately. Dr. Slaughter and her team were simply the best! She took her time to get to know my pup and listen to my concerns. She explained in detail and talked me through my pups conditions along with easing my mind when it came to treatment. Just a heads up, I had been to a different Chicago vet the week before that found all kinds of things wrong with my pup sending me almost $4500.00 worth of testing estimates. Dr. Slaughter assured me that some that were suggested were excessive and unnecessary. I appreciated her candidness. Overall just an amazing experience.. you really can not go wrong with bringing your beloved pet here for care.

Amazing staff! Recently switched over to bring my pup here after having some issues with previous Vet Clinic and the experience has literally been night and day. The staff is soo caring, gentle, reassuring and just overall wonderful. It’s evident they love animals and take a great amount of pride in what they do! Truly feel lucky this place was recommended to me. My first call was a panicked sob and the front receptionist (apologies I don’t remember her name!!) handled it like a pro with so much empathy and scheduled us with Dr. Valbuena, who is very kind and listened to our concerns with care and patience. Just wanted to say, thank you!! You are all beyond appreciated.. and I mean everyone who’s helped Biggie. Thank you!

Dr. Valbuena is the best! She used to be our vet at another Clinic in Lincoln Park and when we found out she had moved over to the Medical District Veterinary Clinic, we followed her there. Even though it was far away for us, we couldn't be happier with our decision. Our cat had to have a tooth extracted and Dr. Valbuena did an amazing job not only with our cat and the surgery, but also calming the very nervous cat parents we are. I also really liked the way the clinic is set up with a separate waiting room and exam rooms for cats filled with cat toys and treats. The receptionists and nurses were also very nice and helpful answering all our questions. Thank you Dr. Valbuena and team for taking such good care of our fluffball!

I’m surprised that I’m writing this negative review as this clinic treated my dog with such care and compassion when she was attacked by another dog - We went there everyday for weeks to get her bandages changed. Now I call to make an appointment because my dog’s stomach is looking bloaty and has not pooped in a few days. I call to make schedule an appointment and am told “your dog hasn’t been here since 2020, take him to whatever vet you’ve been seeing.” This was the last vet my dog saw. I may not take my dog for an annual checkup, but last year there was a pandemic and my dog was doing just fine. Just the way the woman spoke to me knowing my dog is in pain was just rude, cold and uncaring.

We love this place. We have taken all of our animals there since we have moved into the area. The staff and docs are great. One of the Drs sits on the floor with the animals and plays and does his exam. Unfortunately we have had to put two animals down. 1 cat who went through 3 months of chemo and treatment and 1 kitten. The ENTIRE staff was awesome. They didn't rush us and they came in to check on us frequently. They even sent us a card a couple weeks later. It was so nice. Price I would say is med to high medium range but it is well worth it in the end. We have 2 cats and a dog. They are MY BABIES!!!! I only want the best for them!! And here I feel like I get it!!!

Dr Grossman and Crystal (and all the doctors, vet techs and front desk staff I’ve worked with here) are superb. They were patient and knew how to work with my sensitive unsocial dog. I have gone here for over 10 years and helped me thru all the stages of my beloved rescue dog. I appreciate their honest and realistic opinions during the various health and behavioral things that cane up over the 11 years I had with him and they made his passing (and decision of timing) of my dog as compassionate and experience as it could be. Highly recommend working with these professionals.

Dr. Kritzman was maybe the first vet I’ve ever seen to answer questions and help my bub, Dottie. I feel like her last vet would shrug off my concerns and then six months later I would be spending thousands of dollars at the emergency vet during one of her episodes. Everyone else felt extremely more friendly as well, just really a positive experience overall. I really feel like they care about you and your dog’s wellbeing here and not about charging you as much as possible. We are finally on the road to get answers for Dottie, and I can’t thank Dr. Kritzman enough.

I have had a great experience with this clinic. The vets and techs are very thorough and never make appointments feel rushed. I really appreciate how they take the time to educate and explain everything that they’re doing. When my dog starting experiencing some anxiety and behavior issues, Dr. Slaughter communicated with me through email to help figure out a good medication regimen for him, so I didn’t have to bring my dog in for multiple appointments while we figured out what was going on with him. Now he is happier and healthier than ever and I’m so thankful.

We first visited this place in an emergency in 2015 December with our 3 1/2 yr-old Beagle, Shadow. What appealed to us most was that the doctors or technicians did not try to put us in a state of panic. Nor did they try to take advantage of our helplessness & squeeze money out of us. They gave us possible options from which we made a choice. Very professional, helpful & cooperative staff. The only regret is the closing down of the Emergency unit. We have been visiting ever since. No complaints till date. Three cheers for the vets & the staff!!!

5/5 customer service. I reached out to schedule a future test/procedure for our puppy. Though the specific procedure was outside of their current availability, their representatives reached out within 1 day to share 4 additional facilities within the area who could help with our questions. Encountering many previous vet clinics where profit was above the customer experience, this clinic is not like the rest! Appreciate all the help they've given to refer us to another location that can actually help. Recommend their services highly!

They're always friendly and nice. Make sure to go online and register if you're new and/or have a new pet to make the initial appointment time shorter. I had to wait a month or so before my pets could be seen(recently moved). They're great, the technicians make the appointments fast and easy. If you're seeing the doctor its more of a traditional appointment. They're very attentive. I do wish they had a military discount or something, the bills for my babies get expensive, but overall only good things about this place.

Dr. Kritzman is fantastic. My dog is a bit skiddish and Dr. Kritzman is always very patient and able to trouble shoot different methods to ease my dog. She's very knowledgeable, guiding, friendly, and knows how to approach dogs. The staff in general is very friendly and does their best to accommodate you and your pet (including pets like mine that don't do well around strangers or other dogs). I pay little more than I did when I saw a vet in the suburbs, but my superior experience here makes me not mind one bit.

My last rx visit for my dog was in Dyer In., and it was an awful experience. The Medical District Veterinary experience was good for my dog. He was diagnosed and is being treated by concerned and caring doctors. They don't care about the timber of my voice or the kind of car I drive. If I ask for a hard copy of the prescription. They'll provide it to me. It's my right to shop for the best price for prescriptions. I do this for myself, and my family. Medical District... they care about my family.

The Medical District Veterinary Clinic is the absolute best. We've been bringing our dogs there for years. The doctors are always kind and realistic and provide a range of treatment options with potential outcomes. The other staff members are equally kind and supportive. I never get the feeling that they are trying to upcharge us and so far their opinions have always turned out to be spot on. I'm so very glad we found their practice. Five stars, highly reccomend. Everyone that worked at this clinic was like family. They took extraordinary care of my two senior dogs (my Shepherd through passing at 16 years old), my Beagle is still going strong at 17 bc of their expertise in pain/inflammation management. We saw Dr. Sullivan and Grossman and each would coach me through making difficult decisions about their care. I cannot say enough about how much I truly LOVED the people here, and I felt they loved my pets as well. 10+ stars if I could.

Dr.Wckgner and her team was emotionally supporting me and so nice in collaboration but when it comes to help my 4 years dog to walk again they weren’t helpful at all..I lost my healthy cute lovely dog Guccithere..they said the surgery is 50/50 chance to walk..after the surgery he was suffering everything collapsed until I decided after they convened me and because he’s suffering and will slowly lose him to put him to sleep forever..RIPI love you forever

Medical District Veterinary Clinic is the best! When my dog Archie got sick, they fit her into their busy clinic on short notice, gave her lots of love, and even called the next day to check in and see how she was feeling. They are compassionate, and excellent with communication, and always available to answer questions. So glad that we found them!

This team is absolutely terrific. Aside from outstanding preventative and regular care, this team always makes themselves accessible to us in times of need. I cannot tell you how comforting it is to know that we have experts in the field who will always respond when we need them. Reception is consistently kind and easy to work with. Response rates are quick. All team members are knowledgeable and considerate. They are flexbile and overall wonderful.

Love this vet! Switched here after feeling just so so on our prior vet and I’m so happy we did. The vets, vet techs and staff here truly take great care of our dog. They are patient as I ask questions and never make feel me rushed. My dog loves them and they always give him lots of love so it adds enjoyment to his whole experience too. Their prices are very reasonable and I never feel like they are pushy if I’m on the fence about trying something.

Outstanding veterinary doctors and great customer service. They genuinely care a lot about the animals and always follow up with a call after each visit to check in on the dogs and answer any questions. My little chiweenie just had advanced dental surgery here. Not only did they fit us in at the last minute, but were also very understanding and communicative throughout the whole process. I wouldn’t trust any other place with our dogs!

I highly recommend Medical District Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Sullivan was extremely nice, thoughtful, caring, and really spent the time to make my pup feel comfortable. Unlike many other vets, Dr. Sullivan listened and didn't push us to take unnecessary tests. The price was pretty affordable (at least compared to our old vet) and the staff were very thoughtful. If you have a dog that has anxiety, I highly suggest going here.

Had an amazing first visit with our 9 week old puppy. We were with Dr. Slaughter, and she was absolutely wonderful! She was very helpful, informative, and patient. She answered all of our questions as new puppy parents and really put us as ease. Even better, she was so sweet with our puppy and great with giving treats, that our puppy certainly calls Dr. Slaughter a friend now and is excited for her future visits!

They treated my pup with so much love, he actually loves going here! From the technicians to the vets, they are all very calm and great at explaining what’s happening to your pet. They don’t make you feel rushed, instead make you feel comfortable so you can ask as many questions as you want. They are also very transparent about pricing and show you all costs upfront so nothing is a surprise at the end.

I had to put my dear cat to sleep yesterday. He deteriorated very rapidly over the course of a morning and seemed to be in pain. Although I had already scheduled a euthanasia for that day, I could not make him wait the 4 more hours until the in home euthanasia vet could come. When I called the Medical District Veterinary Clinic, they were able to get us in almost immediately. They were so kind to us.

I don't have enough words to describe the level of excellence that this clinic and their staff offers. Dr Sullivan, Dr Grossman, Dr Slaughter ,and the rest of the staff are extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and humble. They treat our beloved pets as family members and always with dignity. They educate us, pet owners, so we know what are the best alternatives for our pets. Highly recommended.

I was really terrified to get my cat's teeth cleaned, between the expense and knowing that my cat would have to be put under. I was super impressed with how Medical District Vet handled my cat's teeth cleaning. My cat's teeth look great now, and the bill was completely fair, far less than what some other vets in the city quoted me. I'm won over. I don't wanna bring my kitties anywhere else!

I was referred to Furnetic by an animal behavioralist. By night they serve as Chicago's animal ER. They are a wonderful vet - treat our dog with care and respect. Fair pricing and are transparent about what something will cost upfront. For example, we've had several spendy dental procedures and prior to the dental itself they provide an estimate at the low and high end of the cost.

I grew up with dogs and have had my own dogs for over 20 years. I've had vets in the suburbs, in Chicago, and in Los Angeles. Dr. Sullivan is hands down the best vet I've ever had. I've referred multiple people to Dr. Sullivan and they all think he's great. All of the staff at Medical District Veterinary Clinic are great too. I recommend Medical District Veterinary Clinic 100%.

On the spot service from vet was pretty good, no doubt. Only disappointed was receptionist. I had a fecal test taken for my dog and asked for the results and some information about shots my dog would need. She seemed annoyed. I was hastily told the info would be included in the email. I had doubts so I asked again to confirm. It was not included. Other than that, good place.

The doctor's were nice they walked me through step by step of what was best for my dog Winnie I didn't want to let her go but she was 18yrs old she had growing tumor I thought if she came back home with me 22 feb 2021 but just got worse so I let her go to heaven It's hurting me but I know she is at peace love you my little baby thank you to the doctors and staff

Super friendly and all staff is great with our little dog. Love all their covid safety precautions. We've had such a better experience here than VCA west loop. You can email them for appts which may sound like a small convenience but with a loud toddler and dog that likes to "talk" to the phone it is a huge plus lol. They are super quick to respond.

Staff was amazing, knowledgeable and patient. We're first time cat owners so we had a lot of questions about their diet, grooming, etc. The staff answered all our questions so thoroughly. They showed us how to cut both our cat's nails. I was recommended this vet by a friend and I'm so glad I listened. Glad to be established at this clinic!

My puppy Koda gets the best care here. All of the Vets & staff were so kind/reliable when he had an accident. If you want to feel like you have a family & people who care about you AND your pets well-being then this is the place to go. I recommended a friend here & she had a great experience as well! Maybe it's the pandemic? They have the doors sealed tight. I get the impression they are super strict about who is let in. When I called, I was told they are short staffed and it would weeks to get in. now I call 3 months later for something else and I'm told flat out, not enough people working to accommodate me. Outstanding care. My cat is an old gal, but was a first time patient here and they were incredibly good with her and attentive, but most importantly they were through. Will have to go back next month to see if her new med is working, and now I can be less apprehensive taking her to the vets now that I know shes in good hands!

This is an awesome place for the care of your pet, I recently had to euthanize my cat Babycakes and the love and care they gave us was outstanding. They answered my questions and concerns, they made me feel confident and at ease in the timing of this tough decision I ultimately had to make. Dr. Grossman is fantastic!

When I called to ask for pricing the woman who answer the phone cut me off to inform me that "this wasn't a low income vet"... Extremely rude and un professional. If anyone in Chicagoland asks where to take their pet, I may not have a recommendation but I certainly know of where they should steer clear of.

Took my 13 year old chihuahua because he has been so shaky lately. Dr. Slaughter was very thorough with his examination and put me at ease of what the diagnosis could be. She even provided me with option on where I can obtain cheaper medications for him. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic.

Incredibly impressed with this vet. Dr. Sullivan and his staff were amazing with my kitten’s cryptorchidism and neuter surgery. It’s been over a week and everything is great. Also should note the cost difference from my primary vet in Uptown. This was significantly more economical.

This vet clinic is awesome. There were able to provide my cats their shots without much of an issue. The doctors and staff members were patient and allowed my cats to adjust to being out of their element. The services are fairly priced and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Dr. Sullivan and his staff are extremely wonderful. They understood the pain my family was doing thru because we had to put our aged dog to sleep. I have 2 other dogs and I will start taking them here. It's a bit out of my way, but it is well worth it. Highly recommend :)

Best veterinary care in the city. Cutting edge (it's the teaching practice for the U of I), kind and compassionate. Why trust he care of your pet to a regular vet when you can have the very, very best? I completely entrust my dogs care to Dr. Sullivan and his team.

The staff was very nice and you could tell they cared for the animals. Easy to get to and were prompt with appointment times. Very pricey though! The bill was more than double what I had been charged at other vet offices in the past, all for routine vaccinations.

They don't know the meaning of care and compassion. There maybe many positive reviews but in my opinion I wouldn't chance it to have your animal you love, have a negative experience as my dog did. [No need to leave a phony dispassionate response. Spare me.]

I went to the imaging center and the staff was so friendly it was absolutely amazing I literally was there a total of 20 minutes from check in visit and back out the door!!!!! This is what I call a visit thanks TJ and the great nurse at the desk☺️ …

Staffs are amazingly helpful. I love taking my pets there. They are treated very nice like if they were their own. Would highly recommend this place. Vets are really helpful and would recommend you the best options that fit for you and your pet.

I have taken two of my cats here, and each visit has been wonderful! The staff is always willing to help accommodate to my schedule and provide me enough resources for after care of my cat. The prices are reasonable and there are no hidden fees.

I brought my cat in for a growth in his ear. Dr. Sullivan and his team quickly determined what was going on, all while making my cat and I feel at ease. I highly recommend this clinic. Their service is wonderful and they are reasonably priced.

The best vet there is in the city and frankly, the state. I have been around the veterinary block so to speak and by far this place is the best. We live in Berwyn and now make the (quick) drive back to the city just to go to medical district.

Excellent service. The vet is very knowledgeable and thorough. I felt relieved after a visit here and my dog feels much better. The staff is professional and the place is clean. I will be taking my little buddy back here if he needs anything.

Dr. Grossman is the best. Love how he can make me feel comfortable handing over my cat to be taken care of. This veterinary is very transparent in pricing. I would, and I have, recommended friends and family to bring their fur babies here.

Dr. Valbuena is truly amazing. We are first time pet parents and she answered so many of our questions, provided so much information, and really took her time to walk us through everything. Our dog also loved her! Would recommend highly.

Everyone in this vet clinic is friendly! We have been coming here since moving to Chicago since 2019. Prices are very reasonable and the vets are accomodating, they listen and they are not pushy. Clinic is clean too.

Dr Kritzman is wonderful. She took great care of my Kiki and addressed her medical needs with compassion and professionalism. She is good at explaining my dogs ailments with great detail. Definitely recommend.

Great place to take your animal if you are looking for low cost. The staff are all very knowledgable and friendly. They are also great at providing reminders and updates when you may need to visit again.
