This is breaking my heart to write but I feel that both me and my loved family pet rabbit have been thoroughly let down by Ashmore Vets and need to make sure this does not happen to anyone else. I took my rabbit to Ashmore vets on Monday 1st April regarding her teeth, I was told they needed to be filed down and they had enough time to do this procedure today and for me to leave my rabbit there as they were going to file her teeth down and for me to give them a call to see when she was awake after the anaesthetic and ready to pick up. After phoning later on in the day the receptionist said she was ready to pick up at 6:15pm, when my mum arrived my rabbit was still completely unconscious but reassured by the staff at the surgery that she was fine and would wake soon my mum settled up the bill for the procedure and medication for the after care. Staff then proceeded to let my mum leave without even checking she had fully come round and was ok. A few hours passed and my rabbit was still not awake, she was completely unresponsive. She was laying in her cage lifeless and with a slow heart beat. I sat with her trying to coax her round knowing she should never of been given back to us like this. As time passed we became increasingly worried that we phoned Ashmore vets the nurse on the phone just said it's completely normal and probably just taking a long time for her to come round and to just keep her warm she will be fine I've had a few rabbits and knew this just wasn’t right, I followed her advice, kept her warm and sat with her again monitoring her the best I could, We ended up phoning the emergency out of hours vet at 11 30pm because there had been 0 improvement in her condition in all that time. The emergency vets said to bring her straight down, we got there and they rushed off with her. After waiting we were told that my rabbit should never have been given to me in this state and she was in PAIN with possible brain damage and there unfortunately wasn't much they could do and we had to have her put down. I'm so upset and angry, I have no idea what to now do, i have photos and documented the whole ordeal and I will be taking this further to make sure this doesn’t happen again and no one else will ever have to go through anything like this. I have been coming to Ashmore for years with my other animals and always sung their praises but a lot of people have changed there and after giving us back our rabbit in that state and palming us of the phone as if were over reacting, I won't ever be walking in there again. I would advise people with small animals to be careful going here, so the same issue does not happen to your pet
I just wanted to leave an honest review of my experience at this vets. This practice was recommended to me by a lot of fellow frenchie owners as being bulldog savvy with good prices . I travelled 45mins to this practice, I was hoping it would be my new regular vet as I was disappointed with my current vet as it had turned into a chain and upped prices. The vet I saw , well, i’m not sure what to say other then when I left and walked down the road to my car I burst into tears. I felt very belittled and in my opinion they were rude and sarcastic, not at all diplomatic or friendly. I was told my dog had skin problems because I had bought a blue dog and so I should expect the repercussions of that . My boy is prone to skin problems because of his allergies, not because of his colour. It is very common with the breed unfortunately. The vet did not also respect my decisions on what medication he should have as I am weary of apoquel, and said I was denying my dog the care it needed . Well it’s safe to say I won’t be going back, that was about 4 months ago. I saw another vet at a completely different practice who gave anti biotics and his skin completely cleared up, He’s now on a raw diet and touch wood has been fine ever since. I was unsure whether to share my experience but I feel it should be shared. I will never ever go back to that vet, my dog is my absolute best friend and to be told I was denying him medication & that I should never of bought him is very very very upsetting to hear. 2 stars because I do agree despite everything the prices were good.
ITS LONG BUT PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ. MEDIVET FORMALLY ASHMORES WILL LET YOU DOWN WHEN YOU NEED THEM. I was with Ashmore for many years without a single issue and couldn’t fault them. Was unaware they had changed until the point I needed them in an emergency. Was completely let down and was refused to be seen when my dog became acutely critically ill with multiple seizures, on 27/4/23. Was also told that the beckenham Emergency centre would be unable to see us either as they were fully booked. Phoned another medivet (Dartford) who also refused an appointment( were to busy) , but did tell me to go back to my registered medivet ( formerly ASHMORES) as they had a duty of care to see my dog. I did. They refused an appointment again. My dog was still having seizures. Had to find another vet that saw her as an emergency and admitted her for two days to get her seizures under control. Our dog nearly died, and has since been diagnosed with a brain tumour. Medivet if you are going to answer this review with your automated response which I suspect you will don’t bother.
I took a friends dog Dougal to the practice this morning to make an appointment explaining that the dog, registered with Ashmore needed to be seen today. I was told the earliest appointment he could have was Thursday week. An eight day wait. I reiterated that he needed to be seen today, to which I received an apology that that was the soonest availability. At no time was I offered alternate veterinary care numbers where I could take him. I rang my own vets in Westerham explaining that he was not registered with them but needed to be seen. Two hours later Dougal was admitted following an examination in order to have a GA and have his medical condition dealt with. Thank you to my Vets. I am at home with a poorly dog but a recovering one. Thank goodness I didn't wait for Ashmore. Disgraceful.
Bailey arrived at Ashmores vets, now Medivet, for a physical examination and a blood test to get a repeat prescription. No physical examination was carried out and the young vet said Bailey wouldn’t allow her to take blood. He’s had blood taken every six months since he was 2yrs old , now 10yrs old, incompetent and lacking experience is the truth of the matter. I still got the repeat prescription and they took my money . Ashmore vets is no more. I’ve left , I love my dog and I want him to have the best care. This vets doesn’t provide that in any way. The receptionists were talking, saying who is the manager now , no one knew . Don’t take your pets to what used to be a good vets now completely gone just medivet trying to make money.
Our French Bulldog Enzo needed major ear surgery. We had trouble finding a vet who would take this on and the one that would, was very expensive. Then we were recommended Ashmore Vets. We found Hilary to be a very genuine lady and animal lover and she said she would undertake to do the operation. She explained the procedure to us in quite simple terms. The operation was very successful and post operative service has been 100%. Also the cost was about half the price of other vets we contacted. We will be using this vet in the future even though it is not local to us. We are so happy to have found Ashmore Vets.
When our cat broke its leg we were quoted by our vets a minimum of £3000 We were referred to Ashmore vets and was quoted a quarter of the price We were so relieved as stupidedly we were not insured - the procedure was explained step by step and in a way we could understand - the operation was a complete success We now use Ashmore Vets even though it is not local and cannot praise the staff highly enough! Oh and both our cats are now insured Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Have been with this vets for two years. Level of care and service has gone down considerably. Forgot to give my dog the requested medication which I asked them to do whilst my dog was in for xrays for a cough I have been concerned about for over a year. I emailed them before posting a negative review to give them a fair chance. The reply was unconcerning and couldn't care less attitude. We have now moved vets who are a lot friendlier and so far going above our expectations
I found it difficult to give one star. My cat had an emergency outside Ashmore opening times and I was referred to Beckenham Medicare who wanted to charge us £2,500 to catheterise our very much loved pet! To be honest I think he was too poorly by that time anyway. We took him home after the vet suggested pain relief, antibiotic and muscle relaxant. It made me feel I was choosing money over a family pet! Well done Medicare! Wouldn’t touch you with a barge pole in future.
Been using this vets for years now, I travel 40min to get there but it's well worth it. Very professional advice always offered, never been sold or talked into buying treatments that are not needed and the cost is always minor and affordable. Before I found ashmore I was always been changing vets as I found them dishonest and was treated like a cash point, but I'm glad to say you will not be treated like this at ashmore vets all staff are friendly and willing to help.
I took my 12yr old Dachshund dog for her booster and just mentioned that she has a dietry problem and we discussed, try changing her diet. But in the afternoon when we got home the vet rang to say she had given the matter some further thought and suggested a probiotic and prebiotic capsule daily. It has worked!! I have never known a vet to still think about your pet after you've left the surgery!! Amazing. Excellent service.
Excellent services at reasonable prices. My Westiepoo is registered there. Always goes in tail wagging. Covid has meant humans part with their animals at the door. Was seen most recently as an emergency after my dog ate my Easter chocolate bunny. They saw him immediately and he was fine. Very little parking. Have to pull up across the pavement to park in one of 3 spaces in front of clinic. Friendly staff, excellent vets.
I can't speak any higher of the team at ashmore, our beloved cat Rocky had be pushed from pillar to post with unnecessary treatments for a long term health condition until we were recommended Ashmore. We traveled over 40 minutes in car but their compassion and professionalism is second to none. I will now be taking all of our pets here and you should to. Keep up the great work and see you soon.
Best vetinary centre. Gave our beautiful dog Rosie the best treatment after losing her leg. Every vetinary surgeon at the practice are wonderful. We live near Heathrow but are prepared to travel as we have never experience such amazing care and support. All rosies treatments and Check ups are carried out here, the staff from reception all the way through are just superb.
Had some issues with my french bulldog she performed an amazing c section can hardly see the scar and helped me when the puppies fell ill all survived and were big and healthy. If it wasn't for their help it would be the case. Made me feel at ease and gave me the best advise i wouldn't go anywhere else and I travel from quite a way away just to see them.
A very refreshing visit to Ashmore vets today. A great friendly service which is great for my sensitive chap as he is very particular about who he goes with due to being a rescue, needless to say the staff won him over! great value and service. Thanks for your help and support! A practice that cares about what’s best for our fury family members.
Drove here from Herts on a recommendation as they offered the best all round plan when our cat broke her leg quite badly. Some local Vets were quoting 5 times what we ended up paying here. They did a fantastic job with the operation and explained everything really clearly. Our cat is now back to 100%. Really friendly and just brilliant people!
My partner has a one year old cat that has been under their care from birth. They are helpful, friendly and professional. She had to take him as an emergency recently and they were caring, understanding and reassuring. He was fine a couple of days later after a few injections. The fees are reasonable as well. Highly recommend.
Best vets hands down. They love their animals so much and it really makes that difference. Pricing is very good too. Only thing receptionist was not very friendly when I paid my bill in cash. She seemed to be annoyed by this fact but the vets there are lovely and I would recommend to anyone
Fantastic vets who are very knowledgeable and caring too. Highly recommended after very successful cruciate ligament surgery on my little Jug Lottie. She has made a full recovery and enjoys running around and causing havoc once again! Charges are much lower than other comparable vets too.
Have been taking my Labrador here since a puppy (he's now 6). Always impressed by the level of efficiency and professionalism. They were especially quick to pick up on my dogs ear infection. Think the prices are reasonable when compared to other practices. Would definitely recommend.
They have trippled there prices. What was once a nice friendly vet. Have just cost me £120 only for two yearly bosters. There was no warning that Ashmore got taken over from medivet. There still using There signage. And there was no notice period over a price increa and by so much.
Used to be a great practice. But since it has been taken over by Medivet it has gone down hill. We can’t even have a basic check up for our cat anymore, because our appointment got canceled almost a month in advance, as there are no longer any veterinarians available!
Me and my partner have recently got a new kitten and took her here due to poor service with our other cat at Park Vets. They staff here were wonderful and friendly and gave my little baby the best treatment and the prices are fair. Thank you for doing an amazing job
In my opinion the best vets I've ever been to ,polite ,informative and very good value .you don't mind paying because you know your not being ripped off with extortionate fee's. Just the right price for what ever has to be done. Very kind friendly people .love them
My rescue dog, whom we have had in our care for 5 years. Has sadly been diagnosed with cancer. She was unfortunately misdiagnosed. Kylie is great, unfortunately another vetinary nurse had just prescribed anti allergy dog meat as my dog was
I am very happy with the treatment my animals receive. All the vets are caring and have my pets best interests at heart. I feel Ashmore provide good value for money, and do not try and sell me unneeded treatments or medication.
I had an emergency with my cat yesterday. Called Ashmore vets to find out they have temporarily closed. I have since found out they have no staff. Called the nearest branch in Petts wood, and after 10 minutes of questions and
Hilary has seen three of my chickens now. She is incredibly kind, knowledgeable and genuinely interested in chicken welfare. I am delighted to have found her. All staff on reception are friendly and helpful too.
Diarmuid is a wonderful vet and cares deeply for animals. He kept my beloved 15 year old springer going for a long time and really cared for him. A lovely veterinary surgery. I cant recommend it highly enough.
We had such great care from Ashmore vets. They were extremely kind, sensitive and helpful at a very sad and difficult time. We could not have asked for more support and will always be grateful to them.
Diarmaid is an amazing vets and goes above and beyond what is excepted. The reception staff are friendly and efficient and the assistant vets are kind and thoughtful. Amazing practice all round.
This is a great veterinary practice. They really care about the animals & their health & welfare but they are also realistic in their pricing - usually about 50% cheaper than other practices.
Best vets around, if you're with Park Vets change to this more personal family vets, far better value and service.Best decision I made in relation to care for my cat.Cant recommend them more
hillary at this vets is amazing and has helped my little pug so much. She's really caring and knows her stuff. Her prices are very good especially compared to commercial vets.
During a very difficult year while my dog was unwell staff have been amazing!! From reception to vets and nurses everyone has been so lovely and understanding...thank you xx
Really amazing people work here and they are always happy to help. They take very good care of all the animals who visit them and they offer very good pet care advice
My dogs receive excellent veterinary care here . The whole team are knowledgeable , kind and caring. I highly recommend them. Their prices are extremely competitive.
Ashmore vets are great at looking after your much loved pets. They do get busy at times but can't fault them as they are very caring and don't try to rip you off.
Staff are lovely and I will visit no other practice. They have such a love for animals and are always supportive! Competitive prices as well which is a plus :)
All the staff here are amazing - from reception, the nurses, and the vets, they do their utmost to care for your pets. Would definately recommend Ashmores.
Please be aware that any reviews before last summer were for Ashmore vets. They were taken over by Medivet last year, since then prices have skyrocketed.
I've taken all 3 of my cats here to be spade in the last month. Staff were wonderful, helpful and you can see their love for animals! Thank you so much.
Unfortunately we went there in sad circumstances but the place and the staff are excellent very caring. Would recommend but parking can be difficult.
Ashmore veterinary surgery is a no nonsense practice for your animals. Good service from start to finish with your pets happiness at the forefront.
They keep our elderly dog trotting along with kindness and compassion, but don't try to oversell expensive interventions. Trust them completely.
Nice vet clinic. Due to Covid, only pets are allowed inside the clinic at the moment. Staff is very friendly and easy to get an appointment.
Good vets. Having to sit outside 30mins waiting for my appointment was not ideal as it was cold. I am double vaccinated and wear a mask.
Fantastic vets, puppy need lots of major surgery thanks to them our dog has a new pain free life. Thank you very much to all involved
The receptionist was so rude, she put the phone done on me.when I mentioned this to my daughter she said the same happened to her
A wonderful and caring service staff are brilliant and really care about our pet's I travel from Heathrow area to Orpington
Can't say thank you enough .Wonderful quick and affordable, our whippy girl is back to her normal self ,we are delighted!
Since dermaid and kylie have left the practice has gone down the drain. Now over priced and not a decent vet around.
Great service and really attentive to owners and pets needs. Just what a pet owner wants and also my dog Bella!
looked after our cat and now our dog. Everyone there is caring & helpful and their charges are very reasonable.
Very efficient and helpful veterinary surgery. I've been using them for years and always had excellent advice.
Well worth the extra mile care of the animal more than the cost which our old vets seemed more interested in
Brillant vets..attentive and good service.. My pet has 1 operation there and it was taken care of 1st class.
Nice, friendly and reliable vets, reasonable prices and appointments have always been available when needed
Brilliant, caring practice. Acupuncture for a prolapsed disc kept my boy mobile, pain free and very happy.
very good with friendly staff but had to wait a while to pay.... wouldn't hesitate to recommend though.
Most honest and caring vets. Always available for advice, with the animals best interest always
