My personal experience is my own. I believe in true kind, compassion for all. There are great nurses and doctors, surgeons who dedicate their lives to make sure they do help and heal others. Being a past employee, I hope changes are made. Remember folks, if you come to the hospital, speak up, if you are supposed to be SEE and be Examined by a physician they MUST actually see you, NOT a family nurse practitioner, if you get discharged, only. Sign if it has a doctor sign off on it. It’s INSURANCE Fraud if not. Safety: In the main building, there should be caution sign tape on those glasses walls warning not for kids to play on. that drop 3 floors down. Please keep your kids off. Rosella is a 5 star coffee shop. The best coffee and the coolest staff. The owner is an outstanding and respectful man that cares for his customers. The problem is, by the time evening rolls around, the floors dirty with coffee stains, dirt tracks from the main and 2-3 garage. We used to clean them 24/7 but HCA decided to cut down on hiring employees and staff by paying minimum of less than 16.00 an hour and hiring staffing agencies that get paid 18.00-19.00 then pay those staff 17.00.hmm saves on insurance, easy turn over. Anywhere from 4am to 7 -8 the floors are super clean because some does great detail early morning. Keep it up. Restrooms need superior attention 24/7 just me, go check for yourself. Wouldn’t you want to walk into a hospital restrooms and the floors are spotless, well it ain’t perfect because they down size EVS staff as well other departments. Mother baby and L and D are great departments, they strive to make sure you newborns are well taken care of. 5 stars Sl1 cafeteria: great food but depends who’s cooking and maintaining the freshness 3 stars. They don’t really have the best food, school quality foods yes, but that’s about it. 3 stars Firefly sushi: 5 stars, good food, great staff North building: questionable? Children ER. Questionable but decent. Photos are the way the floors supposed to be, hopefully everyone else does as well .
We very much appreciate most of the docs and nurses that took over the care of me and the delivery of our daughter. I’m glad they weren’t pushy about certain things and had a fairly “hands off” approach, which is what we preferred. There were a couple of nurses and doctors over our care that were absolutely outstanding and we couldn’t be more grateful for their help. However, there were also a few nurses who weren’t very compassionate and one doctor that really needs to reconsider his profession. We let the doctor know how we felt about the lack of bedside manor and felt that a certain choice was being taken off the table and we did not agree with it at all. After talking things over, we came to terms and made necessary decisions. At the end of it all, we came out of the hospital with a beautiful and healthy baby girl. Overall, would I recommend this hospital for other mamas? Yes. Also- this may sound totally petty to some, but the toilets were extremely low to the ground and made it much more difficult for a very pregnant & very postpartum mama to do her business. From what I understood, the L&D and Postpartum wings were apart of the old children’s hospital, so it makes sense why they were so low. It’d be awesome if one day those could be replaced.
This is the most unfriendly, unorganized, and unprofessional ER in San Antonio. My daughter had chest pain and so I decided to go to Methodist ER thinking bc they are so big and predominant here in this city that she would be taken care of properly. I understand that you have a bed shortage. However, the nurse “Ysreal” at front desk of ER, was rude and not helpful at all. My daughter was taken back, told she would be given medicine for her nausea and stuck w a needle that was left in her arm while being sent back to waiting room. We waited an extra 2 hours before she was assisted. Nurses would come and yell for patients that were already taken back. Very unorganized. One lady seemed like she was in so much pain, yet she was left in waiting room for hours before they took her back. Appalling at what the scene was. I would take your loved ones to a different ER if possible. Will not go back to this one EVER!!!
Horrible staff on the night shift. I arrived as a transfer patient around 5pm and the nurse I had was great. However, after she left at 7pm not a single time did my new nurse come in to see how I was doing or if I was in pain. No fluids offered since I arrived. They did an additional CT scan after one was already done, my room call remote didn't work at all. They told me they needed a urine sample, but when I told my nurse it was ready she claimed it wasn't needed. Had CT and MRI around 7:30 or so and by 11pm they couldn't tell me nothing. . The nurse complained when I asked if she had an update and said she hadn't even had a chance to sit down. Today I'm in severe pain, head throbs, and poor vision. I am headed to another ER with the same symptoms after leaving of my own free will. Go elsewhere where they actually care about you and take your health seriously.
Registration and staff are great. But they should rename this to The Waiting Hospital. This is the third time I've had to wait an unnecessarily stupid amount of time for some doctor to show up or sign papers. The first time I waited two days for a Cardiologist to show up. Yes... 2 Days....Nurses were just trying to find A Cardiologist in one of the largest cities in America. This time I showed up 7am for my procedure which didn't start until 11am. Then I was told I would be discharged at 4pm but it's currently past 6pm and Nurses again are Waiting for a doctor to sign papers. I'm still haven't been discharged. I'm "Waiting" at The Waiting Hospital
It was the scariest day of mine and my husband's lives.....I was diagnosed with AML on January 31, 2023 and on August 31, 2023 I was told, after going through treatment and having a stem cell transplant, that I was Healed, Cured and Cancer FREE! I know that this was only possible through God's Grace and Mercy but He used this hospital (Main Methodist) and medical staff to bring this to fruition. The care I received was amazing and the financial assistance this hospital system has given to us is a blessing beyond words. Through our experience, we can honestly say that they truly are dedicated to "Serving Humanity to Honor God" Isa. 53:5
Unorganized, extremely long wait time, no one seems to know anything! Sat in the ER with my wife for over 7hrs. I wasn’t allowed in the back with her (find this very ridiculous since most people bring someone with them for comfort and emotional support). After awhile of having her IV on she noticed blood going back into the IV bag, when she notified a nurse, the nurse said she didn’t know what was going on and left my wife in the back alone. Anytime a patient would ask the ER intake nurses for any updates, they knew absolutely nothing. By far the most horrible ER experience ever!!!
My wife recently gave birth at this hospital, which made me want to go back and review university hospital where we had our second child at a while ago. In comparison to that hospital, this hospital was like a dream. We felt cared for throughout the entire process and never an inconvenience or an afterthought. The service provided was exceptional in the way it was delivered with nurses who clearly knew their jobs and a midwife whom my wife had been meeting with for the duration of her pregnancy there at birth.

Many thanks to the social workers and nurses at Methodist Hospital. Hospital adoptions are special but when they involve so many happy tears they are an incredible experiences for all those involved. If you are considering an adoption and looking for a hospital look no further.
