I've waited a while to write this review because I don't like chiming in on negative matters, but I've watched my cat suffer with a compromised condition for most of his life because of indiscretions of this Hospital. So I feel compelled to say something. A number of years ago, I brought my male cat (Chase Topp) in for treatment for a urinary track infection. Dr. Schnoor prescribed the drug Metacam as an anti inflammatory to treat the condition. Over the next few days, I noticed that my cat seemed to be in a greater sense of pain and he grew very weak. I brought him back to Midnorth and they determined that he was in the late stages of Renal/Kidney failure. They also explained that in recent weeks, Metacam was determined to be toxic in cats (causing kidney failure) and should not be prescribed to cats for any treatment whatsoever. I was upset and stated that the hospital staff should have been aware of this. Midnorth then offered to treat him for his condition and attempt to revitalize him (he was near death), but told me that I needed To give them a credit card for the services in case the manufacturer of the Drug doesnt reimburse them. I was STUNNED by the coldness of this. I asked to speak with the owner (I don't remember her name but she is a managing partner...perhaps Amy). She looked at me very coldly and stated that if I want my cat treated by them, that I must give them a credit card. So, of course I did. My cat was lying there near death. I was backed against the wall. After three days of treatment, my cat was well enough to to take home, but still had permminanty damaged kidneys. The manufacturer covered the cost of the treatment (somewhere between 1-2 thousand dollars). LOTS of revenue for Midnorth! So, as a result of the error of this hospital, and subsequent poor treatment from the owner, my cat has had kidneys that operate at half function, resulting in him needing daily Renal support supplements. He is also constantly thirsty and as a result, urinates at a frequency 5 times more often then a healthy cat. I can perhaps understand the mistake of the Dr Schnoor in prescribing the toxic med, but the poor treatment from the owner was far worse and has forever "stuck with me" as this occurred many years ago.

I came to Mid North because they are the vets who work with Feline Friends, the organization from which I rescued my baby kitten, Fiona (Fifi). Fifi was so tiny when I adopted her after she was abandoned at the pound that they couldn't spay her prior to her coming home with me in July. By the time she was ready in September, based on her energy, attitude, and major, major growth spurt, we all figured this would be an uneventful, routine procedure. It turned out Fifi had an abnormally high liver enzyme in her pre-surgery labs the first time, and again, the second attempt, a few weeks later. Rather than just going forward, the vet completed further liver tests to ensure Fifi's liver functioning was normal, and after determining that it is, the third time was a charm and my little girl is now spayed. The reason this is so extraordinary as to be worthy of 5 stars is because first of all, Fifi's spay was included in the adoption fee, but I received no bill for the extra testing they did. Even more importantly though, the staff, especially Miriam, were so kind and always so patient with me, even when I was going crazy with a kitten in heat marking in my home. She answered every question and every crazy email sent at 3 am after I found pee in my bed, and even after the spay, followed up to recommend a special recovery onesie for my sassy kitten who couldn't tolerate the cone. All told, this is a wonderful place, with people who truly care about each and every animal--and each of those animals' pet-parents--who comes through their doors and if I didn't already have a vet I adore, I would absolutely go back here as my regular vet. I have had my 2 cats about 6 months. I adopted through Feline Friends of Chicago and this is the vet office they recommend and I have continued going here after completing my adoption. I have only had good experiences with this office. I have vaccinated, spayed, and had urgent care at this facility and would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable doctor for their fur kids. Miriam at the front desk is so responsive and thoughtful answering my questions (email, phone calls, etc.). It is nice to have someone so informed and kind on the front line of the business. I haven't had much direct contact with the vet because of Covid, but I appreciate their caution in this area, and that my cats always are returned in good condition with a clear diagnosis and medication needed each visit. I also appreciate that when I send photos over email, they are quick to tell me if I need to come in or can wait to see if things recover on their own. It saves me a visit and gives me peace of mind - I am unsure if this "email/telemedicine" is only a Covid only thing, but it has been wonderful so far.

I could not ask for a better vet to take my furbabies to. My cat Peter has had constipation issues for yrs. Drs Ross and Laura have gone above and beyond on multiple occasions to help me get him cleared out and back to a comfortable place. They have helped me try every available option to get his problem under control. It finally got to the point where I had to consider surgery and Ross made sure I was well aware of the pros and cons that go along with it. My little buddy just got out of surgery and the staff kept me posted on progress throughout the whole thing. Within an HR of surgery being done Ross was calling me with updates. I feel so lucky to have a vet who cares about my little guy just as much as I do. I know that he will always be in good hands and I would highly recommend Mid North to anyone looking for a vet. Everyone there is incredible and cares so much about the animals and owners they serve. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.

I am very pleased with the care my 14-year-old cat, Enid, has received from Dr. Ross and his staff at Mid-North Animal Hospital. Dr. Ross was recommended to me by my neighbor whose dog is a patient there. I think that Enid would have died soon if she had not seen Dr. Ross for her thyroid problem. Now she is playful and gaining weight again! Please give Dr. Ross and his staff a chance to help your pet too! I had had several bad experiences with vets in my 'hood before we found Mid-North. Now I feel that Enid is in good hands. Now Enid is 18 and doing very well! Mid North has done wonders for her. Dr. Ross has opened his own clinic in the 'burbs, evidently, and I am happy that he has realized his dream and I wish him luck. Now Enid has Dr. Egan who is wonderful too. The whole staff is friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. Enid and I thank all of you!

We are new to the city, and this office came highly recommended by some new friends we met at our neighborhood park. We took our dog to Mid North Animal Hospital this week and can’t rave about the place enough. From the initial phone call for scheduling the appointment to the time we walked out the door, the entire staff was so kind and welcoming. Dr. Schnoor took time to let our dog (who has some anxiety with vet visits) get completely acclimated with her and the technician before proceeding with the exam. The ladies at the front desk were SO friendly and sweet. And on top of everything we were already impressed by, we received an email a few days after our visit from Dr. Schnoor checking on our dog. These people are so great. Highly recommend Mid North Animal Hospital!

We adopted a cat through Feline Friends Chicago, which has all of their cats vetted through Mid North Animal Hospital. Since our cat already had her records there, we took her in for her next appointment to Mid North. I'm so glad that we decided to stay with them -- the staff and vets are all fantastic and we have been back several times with great experiences for each. When our cat had an asthma emergency, we got very helpful advice from the staff over the phone and we know that we can rely on them. The only downside is how difficult it is to find parking nearby; metered spots are very limited and all adjacent streets are permit only. Plan extra time before your appointment to drive around the block looking for a spot or to walk from a block away.

We can’t say enough amazing things about Mid North Animal Hospital. Dr Schnoor is the absolute best along with all of the staff at Mid North Animal Hospital. They went above and beyond for our dog and even called to refer an emergency vet prior to us getting to the office. Dr Schnoor sent us a follow up email personally and it made all the difference. She was patient, knowledgeable, informative and most of all caring. She set us up to have the best care before transferring our pet to the emergency vet. We are overprotective pet parents and we will go to Dr Schnoor for all of our pet needs because Mid North Animal Hospital is simply the best! Thank you!

I have been going to Mid North for about 7 years. I used to live nearly next door making it very convenient for me to bring my precious B. Since then, I have moved further and further away but still keep coming back because they always take such good care of my little monkey. They have great hours that work with a busy working person schedule and normally I have no issue getting her in last minute if need be. They care a lot about their little furry patients and this is why I make the trek back despite moving further away from their office, while having closer more convenient practice, location wise. Thanks as always!

We recently had to do one of the saddest things you must do for a suffering pet. We knew it was the end and Dr. Laura could not have been more supportive during an awful time. When we made the decision, we asked to be in the room when our sweet cat passed away, and they accommodated all our requests. We were completely distraught, but the doctor and staff were kind and supportive throughout. After, they sent a lovely sympathy card signed by all the staff, our cat's pawprint on the Rainbow Bridge poem, and made a donation in our cat's name to a climate sustainability charity. It has helped make a sad time bearable.

Not long after I moved to Chicago my dog started having seizures. I didn't know anyone in Chicago but found Mid North's website and just had a good feeling about them. I am so incredibly thankful for the Mid North staff. My dog ended up passing away about 8 months later but they were amazing through the whole process - even making a donation in his memory and sending a condolence card. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate them supporting me through those final months by always being willing to assist me in caring for my dog's needs and comfort. I HIGHLY recommend Mid North to any pet owner!

Recently took my new puppy here for her first vet visit. She loved the staff at Mid North and everyone was extremely helpful. As I'm sure any new puppy owner can relate - I had many many questions for the vet. She was extremely thorough in her response to each and every question, and made sure that all of my questions and concerns were addressed. During COVID times, pet owners are generally not allowed to enter the vet's office. A nice perk at Mid North is that you're able to view a majority of your pet's appointment through the office windows. I would highly recommend Mid North.

I just had my first appointment with Mid North Animal Hospital and I was blown away! You aren't allowed inside due to COVID restrictions, so I was very nervous to leave my cat with people I didn't know. But they called me multiple times during the appointment to update me and asked plenty of questions. The most notable thing was after they were finished, they updated me on how my cat was doing that at that very moment before launching into a diagnosis. It made me feel so much better that she wasn't scared and did great during the exam. Highly recommend, especially during COVID!

We love going here. We have a very high maintenance dog, just because he is enormous, but they take amazing care of him. Whenever I have had an "emergency" they have been available to see him right away. The vet ALWAYS calls to check in on Bones (our dog) the next day after his visits and provides any advice/suggestions. We were 45 minutes late to our appointment (yeah we were those people) and they saw Bones without any complaints or extra fees. I personally don't think they are over-priced, as some reviews have said, but to me its worth every penny. They are awesome! :)

We just love MidNorth and the doctors and staff! We have adopted our third dog and all are or had been clients of MidNorth. When we had to say goodbye to our first furbaby at 18 years old - they helped us through the whole painful process. Then we received a card in the mail and they planted a tree in our furbaby's memory. This group is so thoughtful with the dogs and us, down to earth with their care to our dogs and fun to interact with. I cannot say enough good things about them as along as we call Chicago home our dogs will go to MidNorth.

Max and I have been going to Mid-North since I first adopted him in 2010. Thru thick and thin, Dr. Ross and all the Mid-North staff have been a joy to work with and truly compassionate. When Max was diagnosed with cancer last year, their care and help made what was a terrible and frightening time a whole lot more bearable. Dr. Ross is extremely caring, patient, informative, and always looking out for us. Max and I are both doing much better these days - Thank you so much Mid-North for all the things you do, you’re the BEST!!!

Mid North Animal Hospital - Dr. Egan and team are great! We absolutely love everything about them! Even during a pandemic and COVID protocols, they provide the absolute best care, and I feel that Theodore is in great hands even if I can't go into the exam room with him. The fact that I can call or text them and they are extremely knowledgeable is so comforting. Miriam is one of the friendliest, and always makes you feel like your issue is top priority with how promptly she takes care of everything. Thank you!

Took my senior Westie who is dealing with some serious (but controlled) health issues to Dr. Schnoor. Found her to be kind and caring with my pup and thoughtful and educational for me. I had several questions that my previous vet had not explained well and she remedied that situation. Found her and the entire team at Mid North to be professional and efficient. Though my dog started out shivering with fear, he was soon comfortable and ready for his exam. Consider this practice. They do an excellent job.

My dog stole and ate half a chicken and was barffing up chicken bones. We just moved to Chicago and another dog owner kindly recommended this vet so I called and hope to get my dog checked. The vet on the phone told me it’s an emergency and URGED me to get my dog checked BUT also claimed “we are not accepting new clients”. How ironic and cruel! Can you believe in a vet if she/he reject to make a little bit of time to see an animal in need of urgent care? I don’t and you shouldn’t.

I have had such a wonderful experience with Mid North Animal Hospital. Everyone there is incredibly friendly, helpful, and calming. The vet is stressful and this team makes sure each animal is calm, happy, and taken care of. It's such a refreshing experience. Miriam, Parker, Sean, Dr. Egan, and the rest of the team have made my many visits (whether it's with my foster kittens or my own cat) very pleasant and easy. I am so happy to work with this group!

I've been a fan of Dr. Ross and all the wonderful staff at Mid North for 8 years. There is nowhere else I would take my feline family. My Senior Bengal cats, Linus and Lucy have been through everything from food allergies to high blood pressure and Dr. Ross has been there with a sympathetic ear and the most advanced treatment options all the way. I am confident my cats have received the best care possible. I am beyond grateful for all at Mid North.

Since my relocation from the UK, my dogs have been in the vets a lot. However the team here have made us feel at home, really looked after us, and they are so knowledgeable and caring I would not want to go anywhere else. From the front of house staff and Managers and veterinarians, you all rock. In fact my dogs love this place so much every day we walk past they tried to pull me in to say hello. That has never happened at a vets before!

Great experience! Our dog had an ear hematoma where blood was internally pooling. It is a time sensitive issue but almost noon on a Saturday. The doctor accepted our appointment as an emergency and squeezed us in before closing. The paper work was very easy to do online. The doctor did a great job of draining and medicating the ear and our dog did not need surgery. And the icing on the cake, it was reasonably priced. Thanks again!

I first visited Mid North Animal Hospital when we had to put our beloved Domino down, they made sure the process was as clear and smooth as possible. We received so much support and kindness throughout and long after our loss. I then took my other dog for a visit and they treated her like a queen, not to mention that Dr. Schnoor was very knowledgeable and was able to help with her issue. It's an amazing place for our pets

We recently adopted our dog and were looking for a reliable, close vet. I loved all of the reviews we read about Mid North and I knew this is where we should be. From the first phone call to after Frank's first appointment, the team at Mid North was nothing short of spectacular! They were responsive, detailed and I could tell that they truly cared about my dog as much as I did :) I would recommend them a million times :)

This was one of the best Vet experiences we have had. The staff is very welcoming and they have a fearless environment meaning they do everything possible to ease any fear your pet may have. Our tech, Maria, was incredible and put my cat at ease and I think he has a bit of a crush on her now. The doctor was friendly and professional and explained what she was doing. I highly recommend Mid North Animal Hospital.

I am continually blown away with how friendly the Mid North Animal Hospital staff. Each person is so kind on the phone. They never make you feel silly for asking a question about your pet. You can tell that they are kind and loving to your pet too (I have got my dog during COVID, so haven’t been able to go inside with him). I would highly recommend Mid North to other folks in Lincoln Park!

Dr. Egan and all of the vets, techs, and receptionists are the best! They get so excited when we bring our dog in and I can tell that their love of animals translates to the quality of care they provide. We bring our senior rescue poodle there, and they provide wonderful care that has made his personality and strength blossom in the time we've had him. I can't imagine going anywhere else!

Nothing could be more exceptional about Mid North. The staff is always so thoughtful and caring when treating my cat Vinny. They send follow ups after procedures to make sure he’s recovering okay and always make sure to provide all the details necessary to make my feel as though my cat is healthy and in good hands. Would absolutely recommend Mid North to anyone looking for a primary Vet!

Got a new puppy during Covid-19 and was worried about how his 1st vet experience would go and if I would be allowed in. Mid North did a great job and allows you to see your pet the entire time during the examination while you wait outside the window. The Vet stays on the phone with you and runs you through everything. The staff is so kind and wonderful as well! Would highly recommended.

Very nice vet but incredibly steep prices. Came for 2 of our cats yearly check ups and was suggested to do bloodwork for each. Never have done bloodwork for yearly check ups. With the vaccines and bloodwork ($230/cat) the bill came out to almost $1,000. Elsewhere for yearly checkups I've spent around $350 for 2 cats. Would have appreciated some warning about the cost for the bloodwork.

Honestly, I don't have a recommendation for what Mid North Animal Hospital could have done better during my dog's last wellness checkup. While Bella may dread the vet, I love Mid North Animal Hospital. I've been bringing my dogs to Mid North for the last 20 years because Dr. Ross & Dr. Schnoor are excellent vets, the front office is terrific and now they have a beautiful new office.

As a new pet owner, it is very worrisome when your furry friend has to be taken into the vet. However, Mid North makes you feel taken care of immediately. Their staff, especially Miriam and Dr. Egan, are so kind, calming and helpful. They were able to take my kitten, Santino, same day and took care of my concerns. I am so happy to have found a vet as helpful and kind as them.

I have been going to Laura Schnoor with various pets since 1991. She is warm, obviously loves animals, and wields considerable medical expertise. We lived in California for nine years and really missed this clinic and the wonderful, personable staff. Special shout outs to Miriam and Parker! We now live in Evanston, half an hour away, and we still bring our cats to Mid North.

Five stars for mid north. My dogs have been coming here since they were puppies.(they are now 12 and 14. The staff is both knowledgeable and friendly. When we park, the dogs start to bark excitedly and then drag me to the door. They love coming here..even though it occasionally leads to a "procedure " in the back room. What better recommendation could you ask for?

The amazing ability to see my dog George through the Halsted window was unparalleled. Dr. Egen and her assistants were so aware of George's needs, and distracting him during vaccinations, eye examination, and numerous drops and meds. I have had several dogs, but this is my first experience with Mid North. It was the best. I'm so very grateful!

I was referred to Dr Ross by a friend and I’m so thankful that I found him. Having a rescued greyhound can be a challenge, specially during the adaptation phase. Dr Ross made the process easier prescribing the right medications to her. He is always gentle, friendly and professional. The staff is very helpful as well. Highly recommended!

Recently visited Mid North Animal Hospital and they are fantastic. The vet is very knowledgable with a great demeanor. All the various staff are engaged, caring and efficient. Scheduling, registration and follow-up processes are super easy and prompt. Used many vets before and Mid North is definitely at the top.

Have been taking my fur kids to Mid-North for YEARS! My Tasha was with me until she was 23 thanks to the staff at Mid-North. They are now taking care of next generation of fur kids and after 9 years, they are going strong! It’s a team effort and I am grateful they are part of Team Fizgig and Team Jareth.

We have been taking our dogs here for about 10 years and could not be more happy about the services that we have received. Mid North has taken care of my animals with such care and kindness, I would not go anywhere else. I moved out of the city but will continue bringing my animals to Mid North. My dog loves going to the vet and loves all the staff, she would be disappointed if I brought to a different vet.

Dr. Schnoor and the vet tech ere amazing with Teddy! He was pretty nervous for his visit, but warmed up with some pets and treats. I felt at ease with both of them and they spent a lot of time answering my questions during the appointment.

Mid North Animal Hospital is a great neighbor and team for my puppies health care! Everyone was very kind and accommodating to our needs. The Dr. was also so thorough in patient education. We never felt rushed and she welcomed questions.

The staff is super friendly! They take good care of my doodle. The vet always sends a follow up email checking in on him to make sure he’s doing well. I’ve spent some time looking for the right place for my doodle and this is it.

They are so kind and thorough with my cat; they even follow up after the appt to make sure everything’s going well. I really appreciate how they are a fear-free practice and work hard to alleviate my cats stress during her appts.

Everyone here is so nice! Dr. Egan is our pup's doctor, she is very thorough and takes the time to walk through everything with us. I always know our dog is in good hands here, which is very reassuring.

these guys take extremely good care of our dog. Their prescription drugs are a little bit expensive, but we just get them off chewy instead. Overall a great place to take your dog and very trustworthy!

We’ve been a MidNorth family for 22 years and four dogs. Dr. Schnoor and Dr. Ross are excellent, empathetic doctors... and the staff - from Sean to Miriam to everyone else - are kind and professional.

I have been taking my puppy here the last few months. I have not had any negative experiences. When my puppy was ill they were able to quickly get her in for an appointment, diagnose and treat her.

My Terrier, Zende, had been attacked by a Pit Bull. Went to Mid North the following day without an appointment, and he got the best of care. Also did his Wellness visit.

Love the staff and vets. They care so much about your pets and it shows. My dog actually enjoys coming here, that hasn't happened anywhere else.
