Spoke with Maria via phone and was took she will email me the survey to fill out and then call to schedule me for an appointment once I am email her back saying I completed it. I complete everything within an hour and email. She spells my name wrong so I correct her. She states they the doctor is booked until October and they she will schedule me with the NP. So I ask questions but she doesn’t answer them. Now she tells me how the doctor isn’t available until November and instead forwards me over to the manager (Caridad) . The manager answers some of my questions but it only makes me have more questions. The manager sends and email to have Maria send me the availability for the NPs. She never does. I ask some more clarifying questions to the manager and now she tells me to call them once I’m ready to book an appointment. I state I am ready but I was waiting on Maria to send the availability you asked for the NPs. Now she is refusing to contact me or schedule the appointment via email all because I asked questions. I asked her why she is refusing but she doesn’t answer the question and states someone else from a different schedule dept will contact me. How can you go from stating your dept is the one that schedules appt to ignoring my questions. What could have been fixed with a simple phone call has now made me not want to receive service there. This is why I never wanted to give Uofchicago a chance in the first place. I apologized multiple times for having so many questions to ask and explained why I wanted to know. Yet I’ve been made with passive aggressive behavior and them just being petty. I’ve called a few times to schedule but can’t and they know that. They know I have to wait even longer now to schedule an appointment and no one should be able to abuse their power like that especially when a patient is reaching out for help. Very immature and unprofessional. What type of professional adults behave like this?
I went to take a friend for a CT scan, this person is deaf so I took the info; they gave me an address over the phone which was double checked and I wound up at an apartment building; when I called to check the address they apologized and geve me the correct one but that my friend is not in their system and doesnt exist; I tell them I will still go becaus I made the appointment myself. I arrive with 10 mins to spare but they never gave me a room number they said to just ask for the department- I did and it took me to an abandoned floor where the rooms are unoccuppied and the only living soul was a maintenance man who told me where to go. I finally arrive at correct department thanks to the maintenance man and there is no front desk person. I wait aound for a good 5 mins and another maintenance man arrives and tells me to sign in and they will help me. I wait for another 10 mins and she arrives and the maintenance man says that I was new, the front desk person just waves him off and says "I will get to them when I can..." In conclusion this hospital seems to be run by maintenance people who seem eager to help more than actual doctors or other staff. And when they do, it takes -what seems to be- a few lightyears for them to attend. My friend's procedure literally took 8 minutes...
Mostly good nurses and assistants (in a 4 day stay, only had one I would really complain about in about 7 rotations, absolutely loved the night teams, despite having to wake up for overnight vitals and IVs). Limited time with doctors outside of rounds and discharge, but that's pretty typical for a hospital. I found cleanliness to be front of mind. Bedding changes and clothing changes were kind of limited to my mobility (I was mostly bed bound), but whenever i would ask the nurse for help getting up to visit the commode, the nurse would make sure to swap out the bedding and offer a change in gown. In terms of more general cleanliness, I believe my room was swept and the bathroom disinfected every day. The only true negative to my visit after admission was the food and food service team. Also my time in the ER lobby was fairly miserable. If you have a visible wound or infection, make sure a triage nurse gets eyes on it, otherwise you will not be prioritized correctly, and will wait much longer than you should. Once I had a bed, everything was much smoother.
For patients that need around the clock care they need to provide rooms with a couch our reclining chair. My sister was/still is in critical care and after a few days they shoved her in a tiny room with one single nonreclining chair. How is that helpful when family has to stay with her at all time, it’s not like a hotel and cheaper for crapier service and a crapier room. We could not trust to leave her overnight as even when we were there it would take over 30min to get assistance. Half the time nurses sat back and watched us do everything from bathing to changing her, or else it would not get done. If you have an option, I would not recommend this facility for long term care. They don’t seem to care about your loved ones or the family members that need to stay with them. Don’t waste your money, they won’t use it to provide better amenities or care.
If I could give zero starts I would. I had a 3:00 appt., but was told I had to be there by 2:00. Checked in at 1:50, sat there until 4:00 without ever being called. I went to the desk and asked for an update, was told someone would be right out. She comes out with liquid for me to drink and said I have to wait another hour for it to get through my system. I was so upset, I started crying, asking what happened and she was so rude. Said not her problem, she don't know and she just started her shift. I said I'm not waiting another hour (mind you, my husband drove me an hour down there and had been sitting in the car for two hours waiting for me since they don't allow guests due to COVID). She said 'fine, have a nice day' and walked away. I called my doctor crying my eyes out. So now, no test and no appt. I'm still so upset.
Staff announcements are made over all speakers (including the ones built into patient beds) all day until 10 or 11pm, making it very hard for patients to get the rest they need for recovery. Announcements are for things like which room needs assistance, or someone has a phone call, or transport service has arrived...things that patients do not need to be hearing about every 10-20 minutes. I checked with 4 separate hospital staff (nurses and NSAs) and all confirm that this is “normal” here. Terrible environment for healing. I only gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the majority of the staff are quite kind and competent. Update: They also run a very loud, riding lawn-mower style floor cleaner down the patient room hallways at 9:30pm.
If I could give zero stars I would. I was hospitalized here for 8 days. Most nurses were great. I did have one that was upset when I questioned a medication I was getting due to it not being discussed/communicated with me by any doctors. The hospital was down right dirty. In the 8 days I was there my bedding was not changed once and my floors swept one time on top of my air conditioning not working for 2 or 3 days which took multiple complaints to have someone come check it. I was lucky to get my breakfast before 10am and at one meal the fruit I was given was covered in white fuzzy mold. I feel like I was treated more as a number than an actual human patient during my stay. I wish I would have taken more pictures.
Dirty and the security staff are mostly rude and incompetent. We had a prolonged stay, and every day you’re harassed just to go see your family or children. They don’t give out longer term passes. Every day the rules change and you must wait in line (sometimes 10-15 minutes long). Sometimes you need a pass, sometimes you don’t. Sometimes they check it, sometimes they don’t care. It’s really a joke and feels like a way to dehumanize patients and families. Stay away. Our rooms sink did not stop dripping the whole time we were there and the floors were yellow. I literally brought Clorox wipes and a swiffer to make it livable.
Have your child somewhere else. Anywhere else. I cannot deny that there is some really great people in there, but they are very far and few in between. The doctors there are 50/50 hit or miss. To be blunt this is a learning hospital so you have a bunch of kids still learning trying to practice medicine. So in conclusion, these people are only there for their career and money, not you or your child. This hospital was the biggest disappointment, I wish we had our baby somewhere else. We are never coming back, ever! Zero stars! Rooms are dirty, wall are missing fixtures, cabinets broken... I can keep going.......
The doctors and nurses all are really nice but the front desk lady is really unprofessional and insensitive to all family members who come and support my daughter. She needs to learn how to treat people and have empathy before working in places like these. It’s a stressful time and we already have a lot in our plate. I’m also aware that there’s strict policies about visitation in order to keep safe all the patients. But I don’t appreciate her calling other people and telling them what’s going on. I’m truly disappointed!!
It wasn't bad at all.. until they gave me a sheet with a bed bug on it..I shook it off the sheet and covered it up with a cup...now i understand because the type of people who comes there but once I told 5 staff members and they did nothing but said "oh wow". I thought that was unbelievable so when I was leaving someone finally got it up...
I visited my aunt at this hospital and was totally blown away by the dirty floors in her room. She’s been in this room a for a month and the floors were only mopped twice. We called for housekeeping and the gentleman only took the trash. This is totally unacceptable, with COVID 19 still running rapid how is this even okay???!
Make sure you don't have small veins.. because they don't know what there doing.. they don't care if the stick you 10 times. The lady said nobody's perfect.. like you have to be perfect dealing with needles.. tf.. terrible experience wouldn't recommend to go
Horrible phn service directs you to get hung up on. U just tried to schedule me an appointment they get to ask me are you a student or do you have health care. I could've of been sick or hurt and got turned away. Horrible now I'm stuck looking for ans else
The nurses gossip so much on the 3fl don't makes no sense at all my daughter had her baby there. Don't go on that 3fl they don't care Rm 318 ..after having my baby. But Doctors Lee team rock midwife I love them they love mom to be.
Medical care was fine. Doctors and nurses were good. All of the other staff was rude and unprofessional. Nothing like the other hospitals such as Comer and Duchossois, where everything was great.
Individuals that work there are pleasant the specialists are acceptable and It's on the University grounds just as University emergency clinic to and furthermore it's helpful for me
My sister is in Mitchell hospital on TN 4th floor & she has Tammy ,LaShon & Colette taking care of her The best team ever thanks so much ❤️❤️ …
The people that work there are nice the doctors are good and It's also on the University campus as well as University hospital to and also it's convenient for me
The one thing I found out was Google map gives you the wrong address, It shows 5841, but the real one is 5815. They need to correct it.
