I’ve been here a handful of times through out the years, past two times were simply sad and uncomfortable/unpleasant. Coffee is way over charged, and maybe I’m not coffee expert but since when is a small black iced coffee 5.50$?! Or is that normal. Anyways ice is extra. Also why is the milk and cream free but a dairy free option is upcharge… so we are going to be located in a posh area and exploit animals for free but a vegan plant based dairy free option costs extra??? Take me to Starbucks, I prefer to support LOCAL but nah, although the vegan meatball sub is lit. What toped the cherry for me, was how unenthusiastic staff was about everything and listening to me they looked depressed and said not our place, to what I followed up with was tell the owner get with the times… which she replied…no thanks not our problem, thank you. At least they said thank you:) It was this mid to higher 20s latina girl, and a taller white women in her 30s with glasses! Any ways go to Starbucks or the new Coffee shop around the corner at the Porte building! Bye bye Morgan Cafe big shame on the subs but I can make the same thing at home.

I am really sad to write this review. I have enjoyed the food from Morgan Street Cafe for over a year now. But this time I went to get lunch to go and was rudely "greeted" by the staff and rushed to make a choice from the employee who was complaining about taking his lunch break when we walked in. I got my sandwich to go, and opened it up to eat some on my walk back to the office. The bread was completely torn apart - it looked like someone had dropped it and tried to put it back together. I was only half a block away so I went back in to ask them to remake the sandwich - a reasonable request considering I paid $11 for it - he staff member looked at my and said "yeah that bread is really squishy" , didn't offer to fix it, and when I asked for a different bread he rolled his eyes at me. Not only was this service rude, it was unsanitary. I saw not one, but two staff members eating in the kitchen area, and one other staff member touched her mouth and braces repeatedly just in the short time we were there and then touch the sodas, kitchen equipment and POS station. Just...wow. i don't think I will forget this service.

I want to share a very bad experience I had, I place an order for pickup with almost 24 hour notice, the order was set up for 11:30 am, at around 11 I received a message that pick would be 11:47, I arrived at that time and waited for a bit when I asked for the status the girl just responded "Oh, we decided to cancel your order", I asked why and she said "it was too much but if you want get in line and order it again and wait for it". I had people comimg over at noon which I let her know and basically she didn't care and just said again we decided to cancel. Without any notice, after 24 hour notice to prepare, it was very disrespectful from the staff. I have been a long term customer of this Cafe, but after this experience I won't be back.

This place has a variety of foods. They have egg sandwiches and they use Turano bread for all their made to order sandwiches which is a plus. They sell organic cookies, brownies and donuts ( wth) I ordered a lox bagel, it was super delicious. It had tomato cucumber lettuce this wonderful cream cheese spread and salmon. I ordered the bagel, a bag of chips, a Chobani yogurt( which was $2 ) and a turkey club sandwich that was already premade and wrapped up in plastic wrap. I paid $17 which I felt was a little high especially since the turkey club sucked, sorry it did. But I'll definitely return for the bagel!. I used the bathroom and it was clean which is a big deal to me. Great job on that!!

I used to love coming to Morgan St Cafe until yesterday. When I walked in I had said hello to the kitchen workers and instead I got a dirty look by one of the guys (w/ beard), rude if you ask me. After I put in my order, I waited a few mins to get my sandwich. Not once did I ever say my name was June. The bearded guy proceeded to call out a “June” and I asked him if it was for Julie and of it was a Cubano sandwich, rolled his eyes and said, “it’s a Cubano, for June”. I grabbed my expensive sandwich and laughed. Never again will I return to Morgan St Cafe. Not only does their customer service suck, but they sandwiches are way to expensive.

This cafe is just a few blocks from home and it was my first time here…. After being in the neighborhood for 3 years… I’m so mad at myself I didn’t check it out sooner. I had the carnitas torta - delicious! I’m definitely going back to try other stuff off of the menu! Staff was super friendly! They have wifi so I think you can work from there if you’d like. I think I’ll give it a try! Place was very clean!

Terrible service. Walked in and no one greeted me. I had to request service. Only one customer midday in the cafe. Two workers just standing around and whispering to one another. Coffee overpriced and smelled like burnt food. To have to request service at a coffee joint midday with two workers and no customers is ridiculous. McD is better then that! Save the trouble and take your business to a place that values their customers.

What a great little café. We walk by this place all the time and finally took the time to try it out. We had a couple of sandwiches and two lattes. #1 - They we all following COVID-19 safety guidelines. I felt safe ordering food at this café. The staff was friendly and they were fast. Both of us enjoyed our sandwiches. These were definitely made properly and tasted great. There is something on the menu for everyone. We will be stopping in to this café again. This location is #LGBT friendly. :)

I have been going to Morgan Street Cafe for over 5 years now, and it is my favorite coffee shop in the city. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they pride themselves on knowing their customers. It is a great spot to grab a cup of coffee (they brew Dark Matter), a pastry (supplied by West Town Bakery), or a sandwich (get the Wildfire Chicken). From the service to the quality of food and drinks they are the best. Morgan Street Cafe is a staple of the West Loop that never disappoints.

Two or three tables crammed into the corner, only one available with two chairs. But there's 3 of us for lunch. Lots of other space that we can't sit in to eat. Why, especially during covid, do you cram everyone together?? I've never had their food, I was looking forward to it. But whoever makes the decisions at this place has no common sense. Sadly, you just lost a few customers. And based on other reviews, I'm pretty sure management will have some smart-azz comment back to me.

  • Cynthia O

Ordered through the ritual so that I could just quickly get my order- it’s just a cup of cold brew without ice-simple; walked in they couldn’t locate my order. After 8 mins they pour my cup and then the female employee tells me there is an UPCHARGE for NO ICE in a COLD BREW?! Cold brew is already cold. I don’t put ice in my coffe period. Ice would require more work got an employee; I just wanted to be in an out. Really bad first impression for this coffee shop.

  • Jacob Slater

Absolutely horrible experience. Waited 30 minutes while they lost our ticket, fumbled to correct the issue, and offer a refund. Will not be back. Edit: Sadly, the owner is attacking my character to cover for bad service. I did no screaming. They provided me with someone else's food when they said it was ready, contrary to owners word I asked for a refund and left quietly. Apparently the owner would rather attack me than try to correct the issue. Stay away!

  • Jennifer Rodriguez

The food is decent and the service is nice. Nice place to hang out, and they have a nice patio seating outside. It was a little busy when I came and had to wait a bit for food. Ice latte was my favorite!

Morgan Street Cafe is a classic fixture of the West Loop, and for good reason. Service is fast and friendly, food is fresh and flavorful, and the location is ideal for the yuppie on the go. I appreciate the diversity in options here, from the baked goods to the wide coffee selection. I also very much enjoy the sister cafe, "M 2 Cafe" on Jackson, and highly recommend both.

A great neighborhood gem. Their food is great and fresh and the people are so friendly. They also have Bleeding Heart Bakery goodies so if you are in need of a quick sweet tooth fix you should stop by. Also great gelato for hot summer days. I would absolutely recommend this cafe if you were in need of a quick breakfast or lunch.

  • Tommy Crossen

Solid workweek lunch spot. Sandwiches are definitely the go-to. Service is always good and the people working here seem really laid back. I'd give five stars if the salads we're made to order. They get them from a different store, so sometimes they won't have the salad you're looking for. Everything else is awesome though!

  • Tracy Flanagan

They literally would not punch my sandwich card because the cost of my sandwich was cheaper than the other sandwiches on the menu. I did not see any disclaimer stating the sandwich I ordered, on the sandwich menu was exempt from being stamped because it was the cheapest sandwich listed. Great customer service-not...

  • 501 BAM

We absolutely love this cozy spot with 5 star hospitality, very knowledgeable hosts. It also boasts a very clean dining area and restroom. The food was super great and for an establishment that does not specialize in Vegan food, they have a good selection of Vegan selections. …

  • Arbra Shehi

'When you're here you're family' is better suited for Morgan Street cafe than that breadstick chain. In a world where mom-n-pop shops are disappearing, Morgan Street is a true gem. I come here everyday and I regret nothing!!! Dark Matter Coffee. Great selection of sandwiches and soups. Amazing staff!

  • Al Murray

Poor food quality in a great location. We stopped by to grab a couple of breakfast sandwiches and they offered us some muffins. The muffins were hard as rocks, they reheat them to soften them up but they taste really bad. Don’t waste your time, 2 egg sandwiches 2 muffins and 2 coffees $25!

  • David Sanchez

Local breakfast/lunch place. Really good food, pastries and coffee. Try an espresso drinks, they use Dark Matter: Unicorn Blood, so it gives the lattes, mochas and other espresso drinks a unique flavor. Fav sandwiches: Big Tuna and Cubano.

The food isn't the best and it is pricey. I really wish that places in the West Loop would stop charging Gold Coast/ Lincoln Park prices. The wait time for a basic Turkey club was way too long but the staff was somewhat friendly.

The food was good, however the Medium iced coffee I ordered was $6.70....I realize this is for a cold brew I guess, but they should really consider offering a more affordable, normal iced coffee! The coffee was ok at best.

  • Main D

I am a regular at this cafe, and everyone is extremely friendly. The cook remembers my order every time and the staff is always energetic. Sandwiches are impeccable, they sell boarheads meats which is my favorite deli.

  • Jeff August

Samatha who works the front register is extremely rude. The cleanliness and freshness of ingredients has gone downhill under new management. I would avoid this place lots of better options in the neighborhood.

They know us and are very patient with my kids and thier allergies. I really like this café, good food, kind staff, and it's locally owned. Also we often get sandwiches and go to the park for picnics.

  • trenton H

Thought it was a bit overpriced and my bacon egg and cheese sandwich was less than average. Presentation was great, but the flavor wasn’t there, not enough butter, bacon, or cheese. $30 for 2 people.

  • Alissa Harris

Delicious latte and the burrito with chicken was perfect for the rainy afternoon I spent there. Friendly staff and very clean restrooms. I look forward to trying an apple fritter next time I visit.

Complete waste of $10 for a breakfast sandwich. Very poor quality bacon - the cheap fake stuff you see at McDonald’s. Paid up for panini bread and it was soggy cheap sourdough. Don’t come here.

  • Jennessa Tabba

Love this spot. Great place to grab a coffee, tea, or specialty drink in the morning. Delicious sandwich options for lunch as well. Friendly service and a great addition to the neighborhood.

  • Aaron Manheimer

When you come here on a regular basis you might as well be part of the extended family. Everyone is so friendly and the food is excellent. Ask for the Aaron Wrap! Great for breakfast.

  • mike Taret (AzGrows)

Edit may 2018: since management has changed, service has gotten a lot slower and quality went down (the croissandwich is just sad now, microwaved egg "patty" and terrible croissant).

  • Tim Yocum

I've never had a bad experience here. All the sandwiches are made to order and taste great. Everyone working there is friendly and almost too cheery to be taken seriously :)

  • Angela Spadoni

The best place in the west loop to grab a quick breakfast - no line like all the other breakfast spots in the west loop. Nothing is healthy however, but otherwise is good!

  • Alessandra Lo Basso

Super nice staff. Amazing breakfast sandwiches. The coffee is good (nothing amazing) but the service is so great and the food is so good you'll definitely be a regular.

  • Kristin L

Small spot with really nice staff, great coffee & food. Limited outdoor seating, so if you are going on a weekend and want to eat there, go early to get a spot :)

I've been here around 5 times for their amazing food and coffee and we already are on a first name basis. The two brothers that own it are the nicest guys ever.
