My partner and I had not visited since before Covid so we were delighted to find a table in this unchanged place. And the prices had not gone sky-high either! Huge blessing for pensioners. My partner had their fish and chips and was pleased with those. I chose a beef burgundy pie and chips. Sadly the pie was quite badly burned on top in one spot so I didn't like it as much as I should have. We took home a vanilla slice and that was fresh and delicious. I also bought 2 small muffin sized carrot cakes. One was fresh and good. The other was horribly stale. This was really embarrassing because I served up the stale one to a guest the next morning. I am not going to buy cakes or muffins in a Cafe ever again. I've been disappointed so often by stuff that looks good on display but has been there far too long!

Mt Martha is a busy place especially so in the holiday season of course, being by the seaside. Consequently there are times when you feel incredibly lucky to find a space near to the shops especially if you need a disabled space.

Stopped in for a takeaway late lunch, something simple, my companion got a chicken and mushroom pie and I got a sausage roll. The sausage roll exceeded expectations, with the filling being more a crumbly moist meatloaf than the mainly-sawdust filling in most sausage rolls. The pastry was thin, and the ratio of meat to pastry was very acceptably high. The server brought the items out to us as we sat outside to wait - this was partly because of the very loud music playing, the only down point of the place. I'd definitely go back for takeaway.

Our Homemade Gourmet Pies

We used their catering service on 26th March and couldn't have been happier. The hot selection were all delicious as were the cold choices especially the prawn ones and peach & prosciutto. The sandwiches were delicious and full of fillings. Ned was so helpful. As we had our own waiter's the cold canapes were delivered to us all plated up, with warm ones in foil containers ready to pop in the oven. He also asked if we'd like extra spare platters to serve the hot food on and these were complimentary, no extra charge. Couldn't have faltered the quality or taste of the canapes Dealing with Ned was an easy pleasant process. Wouldn't hesitate dealing with Mt Martha Fine Foods if needed again. You guys are ridiculous. I went to bhy chips takeway and the girl at the counter said they don't do take ways but I can have it store and I asjed whynot. Her reasoning because of floods there's shortage of potatoes and that's why and was speaking loud as if I didn't understand English. She consulated her colleagues who said we can't give her chips. Rascist as that is in this day and age. Whatever you think I was there for!!! You would still make the sales dine in or take way. and that's what matters for business.

We come very often to eat in or takeout, they have the best pies! Chicken and leek is our favourite the pastry is delicious you can even taste the butter in it!

Had breakfast here, the staff were very friendly and the food was very tasty as well. I had the eggs Benedict with bacon on sourdough. Personally I would have liked a second slice of toast or maybe thicker sourdough, was too much for a little piece of toast but I am greedy too :p. Was a pleasant meal we will be back.

Amazing food, friendly staff, timely manner, bent the rules a bit and all in all a fantastic lunch. The only feedback I'd offer and it's not worth losing a star over... the beef burgundy as tasty and lovely as it is needs a little bit if portion control when it comes to each individual pie and the sauce needs to be a bit thicker. Aside from that literally the best pies in Melbourne

We were on holidays in the area and had breakfast here. We all really enjoyed it. We shared a breakfast board which was excellent. We asked for some changes and they were really flexible and lovely about it. The drinks were all good. The eggs were perfect. Highly recommend and will definitely return. The service was very friendly & super fast.

Fantastic cafe in the Mount Martha village. The vanilla slice was an absolute standout. The custard was so creamy and nothing like the jelly texture of many other vanilla slices. The chicken schnitzel was very tasty with a hint of curry powder in the crumb. Good value, hot food, friendly staff and reasonably fast service for a busy afternoon.

We thourouly reccommend going to this cafe. We Especially enjoyed the home made pies. My mother, 84years old said the leek chicken pie was the best pie she had ever eaten. The mushroom Arancini balls are amazing so are the vanilla slices. Service excellent and staff very freindly. We will be going again to enjoy more of their HOMEMADE food.

Our main order came in a timely fashion, coffee arrived 5 minutes after the food was finished. Vanilla slice never arrived and when I eventually inquired about it I was eventually told that I had not been charged for it. Attitude of indifference from the young girl serving. Expect more on a quiet day with few customers.

Wonderful staff, all well organised and apologetic when forgetting something. Very kind and can have a nice chat with them. The food is excellent, and cooked to perfection and not a long wait time at all. Bowls of water for dogs too, indoor and outdoor seating. Wonderful people and wonderful view of the beach. 5/5 :))

The small guy with glasses served me water. It was in such a proffessional matter, that I thought for a second I was in the bronx! Absoultely astonishing service, other cafe's should take after this young mans example. Give him a raise, he deserves it! Will definetly be back for some more water and a sammich.

Simply had afternoon tea. Cuppa coffee was very nice. Sticky date pudding was excellent. Young person who served us was very professional.

Such a fabulous breakfast - had the Fine Foods Share Plate. 2 coffees, 4 eggs, mushrooms (big chunky and delicious), small bowl of smashed avocado, 3 large rashers of bacon, 2 hash browns and 2 large slices of sourdough- all for only $42! Wow! Will be back!

Pot of tea, great coffee. A fabulous stop near spectacular views. The Cornish pastie and super fresh salad made for a healthy treat with generous serves. The sausage roll is meatloaf in pasty…… so very tasty. Indoor and shaded out door seating.

I have been a regular at MMFF for 12 years. They provide consistently good coffee and friendly efficient service. Particular highlights are the pies which are baked on-site, (beef and burgundy being my favorite) and the vanilla slice, tho

Well we haven’t been to this place for a while, covid etc. We were totally blown away with the service, food and even how the food was plated. This place can’t be faulted in any way Keep up doing what you are doing

We enjoyed our lunch the other day ... homemade pies, with chips and salad. The following day we purchased a selection of cakes to enjoy at a friends house. Great quality food and terrific service.

I purchased 5 vanilla slices (the best I have ever tasted), and the staff were kind enough to cut them in half, so I didn't destroy them. A treat for some hospital residents.

Drove all the way from Melbourne just to try the Vanilla Slide! It didn't disappoint! So delish! Fish tacos were great too and friendly customer service! Will come back!

Good brunch food with a lovely outdoor area. Order at the counter. The mushroom bacon and spinach omelette was fully cooked on the outside and runny on the inside; perfect!

An "interesting" vanilla slice. Quite pleasant, but much too runny and not enough flaky pastry to be called a true vanilla slice. Iced chocolate is good.
