We took our dog here 4 times for a grooming and haircut. They’ve never cut his hair the way we asked, but we thought that this was our fault since we are new dog owners and still learning what to ask for. But today, things changed. Our dog came home in a horrible state. He was not cut how we asked. He had several cuts, and there were parts of him that weren’t washed and matted. They didn’t touch his ears at all, though we specifically asked them to trim his ears. There were tufts of uncut hair in random places. They also charged us extra because it was “harder than usual and took longer.” We tried touching him up at home, but quickly decided to take him to a different groomer. The other groomer was shocked at the state our dog was in, and told us that we had been ripped off. I will not be coming back, because my dog deserves better. We feel like we have been taken advantage of. The only reason I’m giving one star is because zero stars isn’t an option. [UPDATED: To complete the experience, Nature’s Pet responded to my review by blaming me for the problem. Instead of taking ownership for the poor job, I received a response with the message: groomers are like artists and the quality of the art depends on the canvas. Basically, they accounted for their poor product by saying that my day-to-day care of the dog is the cause. But here’s the thing: as an anxious new dog owner hoping to trust the experts, I have asked them for feedback on the condition of his coat prior to the grooming. They have only provided positive feedback, giving short affirmations like “he looked great when he came in.” They responded to my comment referencing detailed grooming notes about all this. These grooming notes have never been shared with us, and seem to have been collected to protect themselves by shaming us online, instead of taking notes in order to help us take better care of our dog. Look, I’m sure I can do a better job taking care of my dog. I’m new at this, still learning. But Nature’s Pet has not helped me understand how to improve (though apparently they could have), provided a poor quality product, and then blamed me for the result. Caution: go somewhere else!]

We just moved into town and this is the cutest most amazing holistic pet store! If you want to upgrade your pets diet this is a great place to go. We feed our cats and dogs half raw half kibble and they had everything we wanted and more! It’s big, has a TON of stuff. Lots of kibble and raw as well as freeze dried options fur toppers and treats or whatever you want to use freeze dried for! So many different variety of proteins and also variety of pricing which I think is super cool because everyone has a different financial situation. Definitely our new pet store home. :) also amazing prices. I love Saint John’s and we love this pet store. Really great chews for large and medium sized breeds with very strong jaws and chewers. We have German Shepards and a husky cattle dog mix and they had really great long lasting chews. Great selection, can special order anything of course. Really friendly staff, all around so happy to have found this place. Making and seeing my dogs so happy and thrive with ethically sourced food options is so great! Oh also for the cat food great stuff too! I highly recommend this place!

I just love how aggressive the owner of this shop is when it comes to bad reviews... it seems like the common response is to blame the customer for whatever happened that led to the bad reviews, but I'm not here to rate the grooming service, as that part is satisfactory... The issue for my complaint and low rating review is that the (owner/manager?) yelled at my wife in front of other customers as she was complaining about the fact that a product she had ordered eight weeks ago was unavailable because of a very recent staffing issue at the pet shop. The (owner/manager?) left from helping another customer and came over and screamed at my wife about having compassion! Okay Pet shop... we are going to compassionately find another grooming service

We have been frequenting Nature’s Pet Saint Johns for about 6 months now, anything from a bath to a nail trimming and they treat him with great care. He LOVES visiting which make it all the easier to get him there. The owner and team members are very knowledgeable about products but also about best practices. For example, we are currently working through desensitization with the car as our pup hates being in the car itself. The owner helped me pick out a high value treat and walked me through some basic steps to take to work through it with him. So far he’s doing amazing, we so appreciate the high level of customer service!

Always great service, good selection, reasonable pricing, and knowledgeable people. When I adopted my rescue I wanted to know I was doing the best that I could do for her nutritionally. All the advice was so appreciated. Superb selection of natural treats as well. And the grooming service is good too. Best groomers that I’ve found in St John’s. Don’t drive a long distance to a big box pet store. Try here first. I think you’ll appreciate the store and the people.

Recently had a bad experience with one of the employees when shopping there but Celeste ( the owner ) completely made it up to me and brought me my kitty litter they didn’t want to check in the back for and catnip free of charge. Incredibly grateful for the gesture. Will continue coming here. I’ve never had a bad experience before. I love these people! Celeste and penny are amazing people. They’re doing a great job with this store !

For the last year and a half our dog was taking Apoquel for allergies (an immunosuppressant antihistamine from the vet). We started a recommended allergy powder from this store instead, after she had a health concern, and her allergies are much, much better than with the Apoquel. We won’t be using the antihistamine again. She finally looks well . She doesn’t wake up licking or itching anymore and her eyes barely water.

Always pleasant. Always well-stocked. Friendly staff. Store has the classic St John's small town personality and carries a good selection of excellently-formulated frozen dog food, along with some fairly exotic brands of treats. I'm glad to be a new part of the neighborhood and I'm sure my animals appreciate this place as much as I do.

Called and then stopped by today for the first time to use the self-wash station. An acquaintance suggested I go here because the staff and facilities were top notch and my experience today confirmed as much. We will ABSOLUTELY be going back for bath time at Natures Pet in the future. Easy; convenient; a North Portland gem ✨

Super cute, accommodated my old pup so quickly with an easily scheduled self dog wash. They have ramps too which is awesome because I’ve always had to lift him up in at other places. They were so friendly and gave Moose so much love and treats at check out. Definitely my new place I’m going now to wash him!

This place is great. I brought my dogs in to try the self wash. The owner greeted me at the door, walked me back and explained how to use everything in detail. Super easy and I was able to wash both dogs in about 30 minutes. I also found some great treats that my dogs love. I will definitely be back.

I have been coming here for years and have always appreciated the kindness staff have shown to me and my dog. This was magnified when my old dog stopped drinking water and eating. Natures Pet gave me some ideas for food and ways to hydrate my dog. I am so grateful she is eating and drinking again

I’ve taken my pup here for a few self washes and the set up is great. The woman showing me how to use everything wanted to make sure I knew to check for warm water and helped me coax my reluctant guy with treats. Also a nice selection of doggy raincoats! Prices are very reasonable.

I took my Big Girl Seeger in to have her bathed and have her nails trimmed. It had been a year since it had been done. Due to the pandemic it just wasn't possible. She came out of her appointment ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! The Groomers did an excellent job! I love how caring they are.

Last minute stop to use the self service dog wash. I read their website too fast and didn’t realize an appointment was needed. But thankful that they had availability and were incredibly helpful with explaining how to use the station. We will definitely be returning

Nature's Pet folks have always been welcoming and I've never felt rushed. The cat products are always the latest food and toys, and the staff are so helpful as they share their first-hand experience with their own animal friends. They saved me a bundle last visit!

My dog desperately needed a new harness and the associate(didn't get name sorry!) was happy to help us get the best fit and size, even helped adjust it to fit my pup perfectly. I love the idea of the self wash area, will be back soon to try it out.

Tried the self dog wash today. Staff was very friendly and showed me the wash area. They also checked on me frequently while I was washing my dog, which I appreciated! It’s super handy having a dog wash so close to my home.

We had an appointment at 3:50 p.m. We called ahead of time to say that we will be 9 minutes late due to unexpected road work and traffic. Drove for 30 minutes just to be told we had to reschedule. Terrible experience.
