Where to start...... I have been meaning to post a review about our personal experiences with this veterinary hospital for a while. Due to my own poor health, I have been unable to do so as I have always forgotten to, or I have been out of action physically. But none the less - here is my honest, unbiased long term customer review! Tony was our vet of choice when he first started caring for our vets health back in around 2006. We have continued to take our numerous pets since then to Nepean Animal Hospital (Wellpet Vets). We have seen the practice grow substantially and although (like any business) early on, there were some minor teething problems along the way, in my opinion as a long term loyal customer, you guys have done it! Tony and his team have done a fabulous job over the years to grow and reinvent pet patient care - so much so, that the practice is at a stage where I would say the level of care is perfect and the best in the West! This is a credit to the Wellpet Vets team, and starts with Tony leading by way of example at the helm. He is considerate, listens attentively, caring to both pet and owner, and has previously gone out of his way to assist us. We are forever grateful for this and will always cherish those actions close to our hearts. These actions only came about because he genuinely cared and he most definitely did not have to, but he chose to, thank you Tony. The N.A.H (Wellpet Vets) team is also to be credited for working with Tony to make those actions possible which resulted in our golden Labrador, Rocky living out his senior years, pain free and at home with us. Thank you! To Tony and the valuable team at Wellpet Vets, thank you for how you care for our pets as if they were your own. We really appreciate how hard you work and for still going that extra mile to ensure we have peace of mind that our pets are comfortable, fed and returned to their home as quickly as medically possible, making their recovery so much smoother for us and our loved pets. I've also witnessed, and spoken to others with pets you look after where the same levels of care are being exhibited. It is just not us and our own pets that get this level of dedication and care. You should all be proud of yourselves for your efforts, achievements, and dedication you all show in your most important roles and jobs at Wellpet Vets. You are all extremely appreciated, thank you ❤️ These guys and gals do an amazing job in a particularly difficult industry. No one has asked me to provide this review and I have done it on my own accord after our baby girl Roxy had to visit the hospital a couple days ago as she was very ill. Thankfully she is on the road of recovery, thanks to Wellpet Vets. This recent visit to the hospital reminded me that I needed to finally write this review. Being a 24hour hospital - which as a Penrith local, I know how important it is to have these services (only 24hr pet care close by), please, please, please be patient if you need their services. From time to time I noticed it does get frantically busy with the number of emergencies that pop up, and the staff do their best to ensure all pets are catered to as quickly as humanly possible. Please be patient, and show the Wellpet Vets staff the respect and courtesy they deserve. After all, they are there to assist you and your loved pets healthcare needs. If looking for a new petcare veterinary health provider in Sydney's West, you will not regret choosing Wellpet Vets, and your pet will be thankful that you did. Danny & Monika Hallani

My dog has had diabetes for a number of years now and requires daily insulin. We have picked up insulin from here previously with no issues, however today when calling them to ask if we can pick up a vial of insulin due to us running out they advised they will not be giving anymore insulin to us until we book her in for a blood glucose curve to see where her levels are at. They said this costs almost $800. As you can understand this is a large sum of money and we do not have the money to pay this out immediately. I asked them if they were going to let my dog die by not giving me her insulin because I cant afford the glucose curve and their only response was “we told you multiple times that she needs a curve or else we wouldnt be giving you insulin”. I can honestly say they only ever RECOMMENDED a curve, they had never once told us that a curve was a requirement for her to get insulin. Not one single time have they ever said this! This was a complete lie. They were extremely rude and condescending this entire conversation. At the end of the day, the dog is under our care and the Vet should not be refusing us her life saving medication because we cant afford to pay almost $800 for a glucose curve. We have been monitoring her diabetes at home. We were finally able to get some insulin by being forced to book in this blood glucose curve as I had no choice since they kept refusing, otherwise my dog was going to die because we would have had no insulin to give her. They basically trapped and forced us into this position to book this extremely expensive appointment just to be able to get her life saving medication. If I didnt book this appointment they were willing to let my dog go without insulin and die. Absolutely horrible service and treatment like I have never experienced before.

I’ve been coming to Nepean Animal Hospital (Nepean) for the past few years now. I haven’t always had the best experience in that I think coming to the vets in general is usually a pretty stressful time and you’re not always given good news. However, I do think all the vets and vet nurses here are genuinely people who care deeply about animals and do their best to ensure they are looked after with the resources and tools that they have available. The pricing here is quite expensive perhaps in comparison to other local vets - however, this is a 24/7 emergency animal hospital so I think it is priced accordingly. Often when I come to this animal hospital, they are taking in native wildlife and dealing with emergencies and they do so in a kind, empathetic and professional way. If ever I had an emergency with my pet, I know this would be the first place in the Penrith Area that I’d contact. Lately I’ve had appointments with Dr Yan Yu, for my cat, who I’ve recently adopted, and I can’t thank her enough for the kindness and patience she has with my (sometimes anxious and repetitive) questions and concerns. It does make such a difference to have a vet who is empathetic and takes the time to explain things properly to you so that you understand. The Vet Nurses at the front desk are always lovely and great to deal with, in what I can imagine could oftentimes be a really hard and sad job. Overall, I would recommend WellPet Vets/Nepean Animal Hospital, as they are a great service in the area for our pets, especially in an emergency situation. The prices can be a little high, but I think they do reflect the services available and the hard work this clinic offers - there are a few payment methods available also.

I cannot recommend WellPets enough. Tony and the team are so friendly and caring. Our best bud underwent surgery and did not cope well with recovery and all the change. The team did everything they could to keep him comfortable for his extended stay. We were given daily updates on his progress, were able to visit and always told to call for any additional updates we wanted no matter what time of day or night. The team were always so understanding with any calls for questions we had post-op once he was home and things explained in depth. They always make your concerns seem valid and not like you’re fussing too much over something that would normally seem small or silly. I cannot thank them enough for all they did for us. ❤️

My little Pomeranian was mauled by another dog on 1/6, my friend met me there and made them aware of what had happened they were waiting for him out the front to take him straight away as I was not in a good way after witnessing the whole incident. I from the bottom of my heart cannot thank each and everyone of the vet drs and nurses that operated and cared for Biggie that night and through the 2nd surgery ! They were all so kind to me and took the time to reassure me they would look after him like he was their own. Big shout out to Dr Tony for his kindness and patience with me and Biggie and for the continuing support! Best vet/animal hospital around! Big big love guys from Tanya & Biggie <3

We are new to the Penrith area, so unsure of which vets are reputable. My son & daughter took my dog to Nepean Animal Hospital,on 18/12/23, my dogs ear was swollen and appeared to be full of fluid, the dog didn’t appear to be in any pain The vet charged us $440.00 without fixing dogs swollen ear The vet asked us to return the following day for the dog to be treated and gave us a written quote between $2821 and $3067 to try and sort her problem. I took my dog to my old vet and was diagnosed with aural hematoma, and charged us $664.00 to fix the problem, they even trimmed her nails whilst she was under sedation Be very careful using Nepean Animal Hospital

I’m very appalled by the lack of service received from this hospital. After my Schnoodle was hospitalised for 15 hours and a hefty bill of $1,800 we did not receive a phone call or a proper diagnosis from the vet. Each time we called we were given curt responses by the reception staff that the vet was busy with other emergencies. It’s also concerning that they were quick to ask for an additional $1,700 without providing a proper diagnosis. We moved our pet to another vet and we have already been provided with the relevant treatment without hospitalisation. I would definitely not be using this place as a vet of choice going forward.

We have had a couple of our pets that have needed urgent care due to accidents on the property. Each time we have been welcome, informed, given a quote and care. Every animal has been handled and cared for really well. They have always followed up with after care (which is generally free) in person and even further with photo and text exchange. We have always found the price quiet reasonable as one of these visits was on Sunday at almost 10pm. Most of the time under what has been quoted. Both animals have healed well and as expected with no further complications. Very happy with the whole team there. Will be returning again.

I had an appointment today for my cat to receive a vaccination. Dr Polly Andrews was the veterinarian that attended to my cat. Dr Polly was very clearly intoxicated or was on some sort of drugs.. It was very confronting and uncomfortable to have her look after my cat. She was slurring her words, and her eyes were hanging out of her head. She was extremely rough with my cat, he screamed, and when giving him his needle, she broke it off in his skin and the vaccination liquid squirted everywhere. I recorded the whole incident on my phone that was hidden in my bag. It was horrible.. I wouldn’t go back to this vet.

  • Leila Sultani

My kitten had to have a procedure done as she had just had an injury and the vet that went through papers with me asked if In case of an emergency fail would we like to pay $500 incase our kitten had to be resuscitated. I’ve never known anyone who’s been asked that by any vet. What an emotionally manipulative scam for money. If you love your pet I highly suggest you don’t go ahead with these guys because they love your money more than your pets! I’d never go here again or recommend anyone to. I only went that for the first time as I was frantic and shocked to find my pet in that condition. Negative stars

This clinic need to teach their receptionist staff more in relation to compassion in relation to pet loss and the impact on the owners...this should be a decision that is never forced to be made quickly and teach your staff to let the family process and grieve the loss of the family member before quickly proceeded to cremation services and cost... these decisions should not have to be made on the spot in the early morning of the hours... schedule a time to contact the family the follow day or day after...thank you to the vet on duty for their support and compassion during a difficult time.

Called 5+ vets to claim they are 24hrs with no answer. Nepean animal hospital answered straight away and told Me to bring my girl in whenever I’m ready, she was breathing extremely heavy and uncontrollably. they diagnosed insect/ spider bite and gave her 2 shots and some tablets and we took her home. Next morning she’s back to her old self and recovering. this is the best and only vet I will take my dog too from now on. The staff were friendly and the prices are understandable ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My dog was diagnosed by these people with epilepsy. In order to diagnose this my dog stayed overnight. $2500 later I got my diagnosis. Medication, repeat tests etc. When I said I couldn’t afford any more tests and I just needed a script for the medication, they charged me $30 for a script and gave me no medication. I don’t even know where I go to get that medication now. Never again will I use this vet. My sisters dog had the same thing $800 at Colyton vet same service.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the 5 star reviews for this practise were faked and/or paid for. Even if not, inconsistency in the quality of care is not an indicator of a good clinic. Avoid. If you absolutely must have your pet seen here, don’t blindly trust them to do the right thing. Ask many questions and be on top of them. It seems they rely on the fact that concerned pet owners have no alternatives on public holidays, after hours, etc. Will not be taking my dog back.

  • Danni Angel

I can't explain how wonderful not only the vets, but the ladies at reception, are! My cat spent 5 days in the care of the team here and every day i was given updates on her condition, i was allowed to come and visit her and Tony went above and beyond to help me. I am so grateful for not only the care they gave to my girl, even when she was getting a bit spicy, but also the compassion with me. All around a wonderful group of people.

I recently had to put my Alaskan Malamute girl Vitani to sleep after a short illness which, was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. She was my bestfriend and lived a good life for 11 yrs 9 months. Thank so much to Dr Beshoy Malek and Nurse Cloe for making Vitani's last hours comfortable. I really appreciate the warmth and understanding and patience. I highly recommend Nepean Animal Hospital.

Being a public holiday I was so grateful to find a vet who could look at my dog. The staff were friendly and professional and we were seen to quickly. His condition was explained to me thoroughly and the prescribed treatment is working well. Glad to see my dog feeling better. I would not hesitate to come back again. Thanks guys!

  • Katie LaGreca

Thank you Dr Polly at NAH. We had a pup who'd put her neck out and was in a lot of pain. They saw her as quickly as they could - the triage system is great! Dr Polly and the other staff were sympathic and gentle. Our doggo was seen to quickly and is now resting painfree. Thank you lovely team, keep up the good work.

First time attending the clinic with my moggie. Professional, caring, amazing team. Even though they were clearly in DefCon 1 on a Sunday night all the staff were considerate and welcoming. I will definitely be taking my moggie back to them. The compassion they showed others while under the pump was awesome ❤️❤️

I want to thank the staff at Nepean Vet Hospital for saving my little girl! When my girl fell sick on New Years Day, she had to visit multiple hospitals…. These guys were by far the best! The vets and staff were friendly and helpful through the whole process. I can’t thank them enough!

  • Veronica Dillon

Most traumatic experience ever! Please bypass and go somewhere else. Poor communication terrible service no follow up. Only saving grace was the vet that preformed surgery on our beloved pet coming out to speak with us when we went to pick his remains.

  • Debbie Mcclelland

Absolutely the best place to look after my mini dashie after a red belly snake bite. Met at the door by a fantastic vet nurse, waiting for us to arrive, immediate care given by vet on a very busy night. Thank you all so much for saving my baby girl.

  • Aimee Wagner

I had an amazing experience with Dr James. He handled my large breed dog very well with confidence and was very patient with him. He was very knowledgeable and looked into every detail. Would definitely recommend to everyone looking for a great vet.

  • Dr Eva Bernat

Vets and support staff are very compassionate and knowledgeable. Our dog Basil was admitted today and a lot of ongoing support and follow up made a big difference. Our options and costs were explained well upfront. Thank you for looking after Basil.

  • Alexandra Bright

Highly recommend. Took my dog there as I had to wait 2 weeks to get into my local vet. I found the staff to be friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. A good experience all round. Will be using them as my go to vet from now on!

  • Deborah BEIRNE

Could not have asked for better service on a Sunday afternoon. Thank you for your compassion, professionalism and wonderful service . Not my usual vet - nothing out our way open, but did not hesitate to help. Thank you …

  • Louise Chillmaid

Wish I could put 0 stars. Absolute rip off! this vet quoted us roughly $2,800 for an ear operation on my dog. The next day we got the same thing done at a different vet for $660. please be careful.

  • ma fer

We were there a few weeks ago, early morning with our dog who developed a swollen lip due to an allergy. They were friendly and attentive. They provided reassuring of his wellbeing.
