UPDATE: 2023. This once trusted practice is now what I would call indifferent, perhaps in part because it’s now owned by a corporation. The vets at NW are still competent and care about what they do. Dr. Philips isn’t around much, and I don't begrudge his retirement, but when he was more in charge, the support staff were generally more "supportive" and helpful. The COVID shutdown likely has something to do with the change, and perhaps it'll bounce back to its former level. _________________________ Original Review: I first visited Northwest Veterinary to get a second opinion for a diagnosis, and though Dr. Philips had to confirm some very bad news, his genuine concern and professional demeanor were both evident. That day, Northwest became the only place I'll take my cats ; the office visits are a bit more expensive than my previous vet, but the facility is spotlessly clean, the staff are professional, and I have never felt that doctors there would suggest tests or procedures unless they are absolutely necessary. Northwest is in business for the health and well-being of the animals they treat, and not for profit, and I am happy to say that I really trust their motives--a trust that I haven't felt for the two other vets I've been to in Austin. Northwest is also really good with cats, and they always follow up a visit with a call or two to ask how the treatment or illness is going. I've never had vets call me before to check on their patients, and it's very comforting and reassuring to know that Northwest actually wants to find out whether their treatment is actually working. If you want a vet you can trust, who treats animals with genuine concern, who is ethical when prescribing courses of treatment, and who is also forthright when discussing your pet's condition, Northwest Veterinary Hospital is an excellent choice.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Northwest Vet Hospital! We were in town visiting family and we were very concerned about our dog as he had not been eating for the past 5 days. The staff at Northwest Vet Hospital did a great job with getting his history and doing a thorough work-up. Dr. Noel walked us through our dog's clinical picture and outlined all the possible options for him. He did a great job supporting us and equipping us with all the facts and knowledge needed to make the best decision for our dog. The staff also did an amazing job of showing us how to administer fluids to our dog subcutaneously and they were so amazingly patient and supportive of us. We had such a wonderful experience at Northwest Vet Hospital - our dog was so well taken care of and we would definitely go back again if we were in Austin full-time!
I moved to Austin 10 years ago with four dogs, and this vet was the closest to my house. I can tell you now: if I moved to Round Rock, I'd still make the drive to this vet hospital! Dr. Phillips and Dr. Harrington are part-owners, and their level of attention and care is unsurpassed. They are always thorough in their evaluation of whichever pet I bring in, and they are patient, active and attentive listeners to me. They explain treatment options and make recommendations, and don't judge if finances prohibit any choices. Plus, they are just REALLY nice people. Their rotating "guest vets" I call them give great care too, especially Dr. Monger. I've developed great relationships with all, as well as the staff. It's very comforting to know that if one of my pets has a problem, great folks are close by to help, that genuinely care.
NW Vet has taken excellent care of our entire family's pets, 7 dogs and 2 cats, since we moved to Austin 20 years ago. We were always met with a friendly greeting, recieved expert care and advice, charged a fair price, and given follow-up phone calls. After losing the last of 2 Chihuahuas in July 2020, we thought our time with NW Vet was complete. However I adopted a 3 year old rescue dog and immediately entrusted her care to NW Vet. Not only did Dr. Phillips thoroughly check out our newest family member, but he took 20 to 30 minutes to answer all my "new parent" questions post exam and eased my mind. I would recommend NW Vet to any and everyone seeking quality, affordable, and loving pet care. We've missed the staff at NW Vet.
I was able to find a contact that answered the phone and scheduled via email using my timing for appointment..a quick round of innoculation so that I might move to a new apartment by the end of the week. I was able to enjoy a conversation with an accomplished veterinarian, and gain some insight into further treatment that would be recommended. I was even delighted to find another email with those recommendations itemized out for when I could take advantage on behalf of my buddy. He's over 100 lbs and the vet tech handled him with ease. I saw an opportunity to get a quick nail trim, and the answer--"sure, no problem". Great overall experience. I don't know what they could have done any better. J and Weirdo
I have a big ol' rambunctious mastiff rescue and Dr. Philips and the entire team at Northwest Veterinary Hospital take the absolute best care of him. Bender can be a little overwhelming, but not for these professionals. Their knowledge, understanding, and love of animals shows through in their care. Bender has some tumor issues he is dealing with and I wouldn't trust his care to any other team but Dr. Philip's and the wonderful people at Northwest Vet Hospital. They really do go above and beyond to take care of our best friends and I highly recommend Northwest Veterinary Hospital for all your pet medical needs.
I highly recommend Dr. Julian Phillips, the head veterinary doctor at Northwest Vet Hospital. After extremely careful evaluation and cautious observation, he performed a dental on my 17-year-old cat who has stage four chronic kidney disease. The upshot is that the cat is now doing much better and eating well now that his mouth is no longer in pain. Dr. Phillips is thorough, caring, cautious, knowledgeable, experienced, and takes all the time needed to explain what’s needed. Last but not least, this is the one veterinary hospital I have found lately that charges reasonable prices.
Northwest veterinary team is absolutely fantastic!!! They are the most helpful people in Austin! I walk with a cane so they bend over backwards to assist me in every way possible one technician even walked me to my condo front door carrying my pet alongside me! I live next door to the clinic the same technician even came over to collect a urine specimen because we had so much trouble collecting from my little dog because she had a UTI. Once again they are truly wonderful people; the doctors are absolutely and totally thorough in their examinations!!! I would not go anywhere else!
We have been taking our two dogs and three cats to the Northwest Veterinary Hospital for approximately 5 years, and the three doctors that have seen my pets (Dr. Lisa Greene-Otero, Dr. Christine Noel and Dr. David Noel) and staff are amazing. I am always pleasantly surprised when I receive follow up calls from the doctors and/or staff checking on on progress of our pets following a visit that required prescriptions. The Northwest Veterinary Hospital is my to go to and trusted vet clinic here in Austin.
Our beautiful pup recently passed away unexpectedly after being diagnosed with multiple internal tumors. We were truly heartbroken. Our vet, Dr Green-Otero, helped us through this challenging period by guiding us through our options and by giving us difficult but necessary input on how to proceed. The support staff at the veterinary center were responsive and empathetic. We always found the vets and staff throughout our pup’s 11 years to be thorough, available and caring
We have been going to Northwest Vet. Clinic for 20 years or more. They have helped us through some very trying times over the year. The latest, one of our kittens swallowed a needle that got stuck in the roof of his mouth at the very back, we could not see it with the naked eye but we just knew something was wrong with him. We took him to the vets and they did not hesitate to take action. They were amazing like always. We love everyone that works there.
Our cat has horrible anxiety and is generally high maintenance. We've been taking him to NWVH since 2018 and have loved every person we've worked with there. Their office staff is wonderful, and Dr. David Noel and Dr. Christine Noel are both detailed, thorough, and communicative. They really take the time to explain every detail to you so that you can determine how to best take care of your fur baby.
The entire staff is so friendly and helpful. They have taken the steps to make coming to the vet as easy as possible and everyone seems to care a great deal about the animals and their owners. Dr. Phillips is hands down THE BEST veterinarian (and shares that title with Dr. Rhyne). I am always grateful for his thoughtful approach and the amount of time he is willing to give my fur babies and me! :)
I have gone to NW for 14 years and can honestly say they have been nothing short of amazing. Not only are my dogs always in good hands with Dr. Green-Otero (the whole team is fantastic too) but as a client I am cared for with empathy, compassion and understanding. The techs and reception are caring and very professional, this clinic truly cares for its patients and clients.
Dr. Noel and the entire team at Northwest Veterinary Hospital are exceptional. We started using Dr, Phillips 11 years ago when we moved to Austin and he was awesome as well. Both vets are exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, and have great human (and animal) relations. Thank you for caring for Max, Norbert, and Bentley. Kindly, Melaine and Evan F
Sherman is usually very nervous about his visit to the vet, however, the technicians and Dr. Noel made him feel calm and loved. They helped me escort him to and from the car since he is too strong for me. I was so amused at how thankful they were that I actually brought in a fresh stool sample! Simple & rare things are so nice. Thanks, Sherman's Mommy
Dr. Phillips is the only Vet I have dealt with that truly has knowledge about Cats. I have been taking my two girls here for many years and both made it to at least 20 years old. I credit Dr. Phillips for my Molly living that long as she had a medical issues start popping up around age 15. If you have cats I highly recommend Dr. Phillips.
Dr. Lisa Otero and staff are wonderful, compassionate, and efficient in the care and process. I had both of my dog's teeth cleaned and my dogs were doing great and their breath is great too. Easy recovery. I love that we can check out in the room avoiding front desk clashes and traffic jams. This is a great vet clinic. I highly recommend.
The veterinarians do a great job of explaining things, and do so with a smile. When we began visiting this clinic about 3 years ago, there were some gruff staff. However for the last year, the staff is super attentive, and positive. I appreciate their cheerful customer service, and my dog is in great hands with wonderful vets.
My dog went here for the first time for a new client visit and it was fantastic. My dog has really high anxiety and is super shy and the staff was so sweet with him. They were giving him lots of treats and love and by the end I’m pretty sure my dog didn’t want to leave. Will for sure be coming back and highly recommend!!
My daughter said that the doctor and tech were awesome! My Lou loved them too! He normally doesn’t like the vet but he was very lovable towards him. I guess he knows a good guy when he sees them. From the moment I spoke to the receptionist, I just knew this was the place for my fur baby. Keep up the good work!
Dr. Phillips has been our trusted vet for over eight years. He is kind and incredibly knowledgeable. His advice is always pragmatic and compassionate. Often when we finish an appointment or phone call, I am left wishing my own doctors were so thorough in their explanations of conditions and treatment options.
Everyone at Northwest is so professional and friendly. I know that my pets are in the best possible hands with Dr. Noel and Dr. Green-Ortero. They're great with offering best practices, explaining their recommendations, and offering multiple treatment options. So glad to have them!
The front desk staff is always attentive and helpful. Dr. Green-Otero is wonderful and is so patient answering all my questions. Have seen Dr. Noel too and she is great. It's a bit of a drive from my house but it's worth it. I know my dog Daisy is getting the best care there.
The Northwest Vet was/is THE BEST! Our old Vet has all but retired and the new vets just didn't cut it in terms of customer service. NW Vet was recommended to us by a friend and we couldn't be happier with the change. And Abbey loved them too, which is the best review!!!!
Such a great and caring staff! They truly love your family pet and provide great advice without pushing you to spend more than you fell comfortable. Dr Philips is our vet and our dogs have been extremely well taking care of over the years, thanks to him and the staff.
The Northwest Vet Clinic staff is extremely professional and friendly. I was nervous for my new cat's first appointment but everyone there made it extremely comfortable and easy. Dr. Phillips always takes the time to explain everything and answers all my questions.
We have seen several of the Doctors over our years at NWVH and they have all been fantastic. We recently adopted a new member into our family and Dr. Noel was fantastic with her. The whole team is very responsive and compassionate. I highly recommend this facility.
We've been going to NW Vet Hospital for a few years and they have been fantastic. Our dog can be a bit nervous and has had his issues - for example, not wanting his claws to be clipped, etc, but they've helped (and had a lot of patience!). We're happy with NWVH -
All our pets for the last 10 years have been patients at Northwest Vet Hospital. I have full confidence in the vets there, and the staff is super friendly. I feel safe knowing my pup is well cared for and loved by everyone there. Highly recommend.
NW Vet Hospital is top notch! Dr. Phillips is the local owner and Chief of Vet Staff providing excellent local care versus the Corporate level nickel and dime care you may get at other clinics nearby. I highly recommend and they love Airedales
We've been going to Northwest Veterinary Hospital for 3 years now, and every visit is great. I appreciate how accommodating they are with COVID, and they are very genuine. Our cats love the staff and vets!
Kind, caring staff that listen and prioritize your wishes. Can't recommend enough! They've helped navigate the end of life for my pup and given me so much more confidence in the decisions ahead of me.
The doctors and staff here are top notch! Truly care about our 4 legged family members as of they were their own. Always take the time to explain treatment and options. Love them!
We've taken our cats to NW Vet Hospital for over two decades and they have provided them with great care throughout their lives. The staff is always helpful and cheerful.
I love the vet techs and Dr. Green-Otero. Always been amazing, even through scary times with our animals. Never been more comfortable with a vet clinic.
Dr Harris is a great communicator and thoroughly explains what he finds. We have been taking dogs there for 40 years, but Chad Harris is the best yet!
The people of Northwest Vet Hospital were kind, fast, and thorough. Holly did a fantastic job with my little Bella and she's already feeling better.
Thorough exams. Caring environment. Dr. Phillips always takes the time to explain and answer all my questions and concerns.
I was kept informed throughout my dog's procedure and felt confident and secure about her treatment.
