Service 2-3/5 Food 3/5 Atmosphere 4/5 Value 4/5 - due to meal deal Positive reviews for this restaurant plus a meal deal led me to Ora Smokehouse for dinner. Arrived with a friend being the only patrons in the venue; atmosphere nice, quaint set up, dimly lit with candles dispersed throughout. Server was VERY attentive initially, asking 3x within the space of ~5 minutes if we wanted drinks. After the 3rd time we firmly said that we would happily flag him if drinks were necessary as my friend was driving and I needed to stay awake. Whilst we understood that we were the only patrons in the venue, he was overly attentive where we felt awkward about not having any alcoholic beverages. My friend ordered the brisket and I the pork belly. My friend enjoyed his brisket very much. The pork belly was well cooked, good ratio of fat/meat but was a bit dry and lacked more sauce/jus. The smoked meats are served with butter lettuce, pickles, mashed potatoes, and two pieces of bread. Pickles were standout. The pieces of bread could have done with some butter on the side or some more sauce with the meat. Not sure I understood the concept of the lettuce and bread? Was I supposed to make a sandwich? Ordered the kale as a side and that was delightful: tender leaves and well flavored. I had a piccolo as a drink and it is surprising this was a cafe known for its coffee as it was quite acidic. The price tag was good value because I had a meal deal. Would I return here? Not in a hurry.

Went to Ora for dinner over the weekend. They've just opened for night dining about a week prior, and as expected, it was amazing! Started with their negroni, which hit all the right notes for a negroni. Then had a 2017 Hennings Vineyard Viognier, Heathcote; followed by a 2013 La Curio The Original Zin Primitivo, McLaren Vale. Both very enjoyable. We shared a couple of entrees- kingfish; jalapeno poppers; pork jowl which were all delicious. Then shared the brisket point end with a side of brocollini. The brisket just melted in the mouth. Finished the meal with a sweet potato pie (yum!) They've clearly got someone in the kitchen who knows what they're doing! Without a doubt, one of the best dining options in Kew.

The coffee is perfection! Milk is always the right temperature and the beans they use have a unique flavour that is absolutely delicious. Try scrambble eggs on sourdough and Ham and cheese croissant it's amazing. The staff and owner are super friendly too, delivering your order with smile. The type of place you go out of your way to visit. Highly recommended

Everything about Ora Cafe points to a bright future ahead in Melbourne's bustling cafe scene. From quirky food items and drinks menu this is not your usual hipster cafe. To my surprise even though it was different it was still a nice enough combination that most people would enjoy. The variety entails individuals such as myself to try some different combinations which are often not thought about as common lunch/breakfast items. The portion sizes and prices are extremely reasonable as well and you will definitely leave satisfied. Recommended for locals that's for sure!

Went for Saturday lunch. Cosy yet cool space. Staff were welcoming and seemed to know most clientele so must be popular with locals. Coffees hit the mark. We ate the tiffin eggs which was a spicy and nutty take on the scotch egg with perfect kipfler potatoes and a charred toast that took me straight to Mumbai. The trout was refreshing and well balanced. We finished off diving into a warm and gooey dish of clafoutis with a nice dollop of ice cream. Left feeling full and happy. Will be coming back and I'm sure they'll remember my name.

As a Kew local, I’ll definitely be back! Warm hospitality, prompt service and big points with me when it’s dog friendly!! It was a 22 degree day so we enjoyed the outdoor area. I had a delicious chai latte and the French toast which is from their new menu! My friend had the shroom panzanella which I’ll come back for the next time! Plenty of parking along the streets and this cafe is slightly tucked away from the main busy street which is great! Some calm to enjoy your meal and linger to chat. Loved this little gem of a cafe!

Wood&co beans, one of my favourite roasters that I don't see used often enough. Coffee is always superbly made when the baristas are in. Small but delish selection of lil cakies including gluten free options. Meals look good, hearty and tasty but I would love some more vego options.

I like the location and the outdoor area at the front. It was charming little cafe at the intersections of the streets. I was surprised with how small the menu is. I cant remember which brekky roll I picked but it was beautifully made. The relish was soo yum and everything else is just great. Mocha was a tad bitter but other than that staff was so friendly and let us sat there for a long time. Definitely a great place to sit and chat.

This is undoubtedly my favourite cafe in the whole of Melbourne - Australia's coffee capital. This is not a cafe where you go if you just want a boring old flat white - this is a coffee experience with knowledgable and friendly staff who really know their stuff. The food is first class and the atmosphere somewhere between funky and sophisticated. Just make sure you save me a seat ...

  • Daisy Brown

Almond piccolo curdled, waiter commented, this happens with almond milk and still charged for undrinkable coffee. Commented it was his last day, so he would not mess it up if I came again. Chilli egg's very good.

The coffee is perfection! Milk is always the right temperature and the beans they use have a unique flavour that is absolutely delicious. The staff and owner are super friendly too. They always go above and beyond, from remembering your name and usual order to hand delivering your takeaway coffee with smile. The type of place you go out of your way to visit.

  • Graham Rodda

Great coffee and yummy food. A great stop south of the river and easy access from freeway! Breakfast eggs beautifully cooked make a great light breakfast. The polenta chips were golden, tasty and crisp. Very pleasant outdoor street side area or a cosy indoor cafe style area. Staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking in surrounding streets.

  • Latoya Voogt

I love the staff and the coffee is great. They hand you your takeaway coffee to you and remember your name. It's the little things that count. It is a bit expensive, but worth it. Service is fast. Lots of specialty coffees are on offer, if you are a connoisseur. (They use unsweetened almond unlike the other places nearby)

  • Marcus Cher

Just brilliant! If your in the area or have the time to trek out to Kew, it's a hidden gem. Great staff, good food, excellent coffee, what more would you want? Only issue for some is there is sometimes a short queue on hectic weekends, but probably a reflection on how awesome the place is I would have thought.

  • KH

Ora is a lovely cafe, wholesome food, good service. However $20 for a bowl of vegetable/lentil soup is asking too much. Soup was well presented and truly delicious. I think $14/16 tops. This is not a restaurant where you can expect to pay higher prices. Would have given experience 5, but over priced. Thank you

  • Yeo Kai Wen

Ambience is great and this is a pet-friendly cafe. Most people order the spiced tiffin egg here as it seems to be the house speciality. We felt that the coffee blend was not as fragrant as we expected it to be (Angel Wings Caramel, Toffee and Butterscotch). I didn't get to try that as we were in a hurry.

  • Nikko Chan

Fantastic cafe with good food and coffee. There is wearing space around the back as well as the tables you see in the front. Coffee was excellent. Food was fairly priced, although serving sizes a bit small, and the meals we had were delicious. Friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommended.

Ora is tucked away in a nice part of Kew where we sat outside on the street without the hassle of being droened out by traffic noise. The coffee was good, as was the good without being overly pretentious backed up by a delightful waitress we writhed Definately go back to Ora again.

  • Craig Lawrence

Great little spot in Kew. A no fuss cafe that has really good scrambled eggs on sourdough. The side of mushrooms was also super tasty. The espresso was well made and full of flavour. What would be good is to see a few more options for breakfast. Either way, we'll be back.

  • GenisTG

Hands down the best local cafe in town. I really love the coffee, the barista is really good, but I don’t know who’s working on the kitchen but they’re cooking a really awesome food. The environment is really nice there and I go every time that I have the opportunity to.

  • Janiene Hart

Fantastic great quality food. Had the best zucchini fritters for a long time and served with the beautifully cooked haloumi. Amazing combination. And friends tomatoes were so invitingly red and cooked to perfection, they were extremely impressed too. Will be back.

  • Geraldine Anthony

Always a pleasure to idle away a few minutes or longer at this welcoming cafe. Consistently great coffee and should you need an extra incentive now the return of freshly cooked doughnuts on weekends. Dangerous but lovely. And good for brunch or lunch. Yum,.

  • Judy Kelly

Small, clean, quaint interior, front outside seating also. Coffee, Almond Latte, double ristretto was good strength. Normal shot, would be weak for people who like a stronger coffee hit. Poached eggs on GF bread was nice. Bircher Muesli was good.

  • Chrissie Leone

Ora Kew - Cafe & Smokehouse has very nice outdoor and indoor seating areas and it even had a small kids' play area at the back. The staff were fabulous and friendly. The coffee and the food were amazing. I would definitely be back.

Breakfast is very nice. It is not conventional stuff like big breakfast. It has character. A busy place. There are seats outside. However, outside seatings aren't heated. Not comfort in chilly morning. The coffee is a bit acidic.

The coffee is excellent, the food is well crafted and the menu is well thought-out. However the quantity of food you get for what you pay was noticeably lower here than most Melbourne cafes, hence 4 stars and not 5.

  • Roz Saul

Love Ora. Good coffee, the menu has a range of items without overloading the brain for choice. It's regularly changed too, according to the season. Recommend!

Arrived without a booking with a larger than anticipated group (sorry) and they were really accommodating, finding us a table in the back room. The coffee was great and the steak sandwich was sensational. Cheers!

  • Hamish Brettingham-Moore

Good quality little cafe! Popular on weekends, backed up by menus that change on seasons, plus all the fan favorites. Good coffee and teas. Friendly and welcoming service make for a good place to store off at!

  • Edgar Mirantz

Small cafe with good coffee and food. However, it can be a little pricey and you may have to wait for a table when it's busy. The muffins on display on the counter is so tempting and looks absolutely delish!

  • John Torouno

Waiting 12 minutes for a takeaway coffee on a Sunday with 5 patrons within the coffee shop. Staff started to make my coffee when I reminded them and have been waiting longer than 10 minutes for a coffee...

  • Philip

Relaxed feel Cafe with good friendly staff and service to go with it. Food looks good. I had the Burger and it was very very good. Fresh, full of flavour and not to big. Coffee was excellent. I'll be back.

  • Conscious Gamer

With its delicious and meticulously prepared barista coffee, fresh and well presented food and efficient and attentive staff that makes you feel comfortable, Ora is a hidden gem that never disappoints.

  • Wine putter

Ora is one of those hidden gem cafes. It just gets better and better with every visit. They now have more seats because people have been breaking the rules of telling every man, women and dog in town.

  • keiran king

Great coffee at a great price.... staff are friendly.... Aaaannd that’s about it. Nothing special about this place in a city full of ‘specialty’ coffee. Plenty of seating. Not a lot of GF options.

Great coffee and very friendly and relaxed service. But not kid friendly in terms of menu and not flexible with changes to menu items. Food prices are mostly expensive, and what we had was good.

  • Shiv P

Disappointed with the toasties. Read the good reviews and headed there to pick up some food for a picnic, ended up with toasties that probably used woolies bread. Expected decent bread for $10?

  • David De Garis

Met for a date & only had coffees but owner asked us to leave after 25 mins, as he wanted to turn over the table. Appalled & would never go back. Coffee excellent & service great by the staff

  • John Tai

Great service from happy people who are willing to help. Small cafe that would be packed during peak periods. I had spiced eggs which was great. Outdoor seating available, dog friendly.

  • Frith Fairley

Good food. Friendly staff. Small. Very popular. Probably a wait for a table. Worth it (unless over 30 mins). Half serves OK (I only learnt this today. After ordering). Great coffee.

Good coffee, serving Proud Mary blends and single origins. They could heat their milk a tad less to let the flavours of the coffee come through more though.

  • Laurence Williams

Ora does not disappoint with its high standard for good coffee. It's a cute cafe in a lucrative location with a great brew and superb food. Give Ora a try!

  • Marco Ruschioni

The tiffin eggs are literally one of the best breakfasts in Melbourne. You've never had a breakfast like this. 5 star all round (coffee, food, service).

  • Edmund Barrett

Delicious food, reasonably priced. Coffee is simply in a league of it’s own. Owner is very friendly and personable. Consistently consistent. Well done.

I was very happy with the warm bowl. It was delicious, warm, comforting, and filling. The coffee was pretty good as well. Will be back for more :)
