We need a vet in the area and have been repeatedly disappointed here and continually charged a lot for mediocre results. Our first visit was ok for a minor issue with my dog - which costed a couple hundred dollars- but it was downhill from there. When I brought her to get her shots shortly after, I told them my dog also had something wrong/patch under her ear and the vet Dr. Wilson said she saw nothing (even though we got charged for an exam check). We ended up having to go back a week later because the patch became a big hot spot and the other vet Dr. Szacki did minimal background research and kept calling my dog a he and anyways she ended up giving us hot spot medicine and a bill for $300, which could have been avoided if they examined her well the first time. I also heard the front desk staff gossiping about a client, calling him cheap etc, when I was in the room next to them with my dog. They’re very unprofessional and unhelpful and when I had to come back for a follow up vaccine shot, they said a vet could not examine my dog for a possible UTI issue and I’d need another appointment for that, which wouldn’t be available for about a week. This place up sells a lot, displayed little concern for my dog or me, and the vets seem rushed and did not look at her background records. I give this place two stars instead of one because two technicians were nice and they do keep detailed written records and respond to emails quickly. We are switching to another vet and in one visit, the new vet displayed so much more care for my dog and took the necessary time to look at her past medical records and thoroughly address the problem. What a difference.

I visited this veterinary clinic recently for my newly adopted kitten's routine check-up. Despite their diagnosis of a URI and subsequent antibiotic treatment, my kitten's health worsened. Repeated attempts with antibiotics and a costly recommendation for x-rays followed, yet my kitten's condition did not improve. This led to the development of ringworm due to his compromised immune system. Seeking a second opinion, I turned to another veterinary clinic which provided effective treatment without requiring x-rays. This experience prompted concerns about the clinic's priorities, suggesting a focus on financial aspects over animal well-being. In my view, the clinic's emphasis appeared to be skewed towards financial interests, potentially overshadowing genuine care for animals. I believe that compassionate care should be paramount in any veterinary practice. My hope is that this feedback encourages the clinic to review their approach, ensuring animals' welfare remains a top priority.

Unfortunately today I had the worst experience with the front desk girl named Miriam. I arrived a few minutes late because I was stuck behind a garbage truck and I tried calling the office 3 times to inform them. Every time I called Miriam placed me on hold and then eventually because it took too long the call would end. I drove 2 hours to get to this location and she didn’t care or tried to make something work. She simply said we have a 10 minutes policy and you have to reschedule. I’ve never seen such poor customer service skills in my life. First of this policy was never ever mentioned to me. Second, every time I’ve been there my dog is never seen at his scheduled time because they are always running behind. I finally called backed and told her to transfer all of my dogs medical records. Place is also overly expensive and isn’t worth the time and effort. I wouldn’t recommend this place nor an encounter with Miriam.

I'm disappointed to see all the negative reviews for this vet. They're extremely knowledgeable and know what they're doing. Most of these 1 star reviews are pathetic personal feelings unrelated to the service. Things such as "they charged me for a consultation." What do you think happens when you go to the doctor? Seriously people. "They never followed up to check on my dog", they're extremely busy and see so many dogs every day. That's a bit of a ridiculous ask. I understand it's your dog, and you want the best for it. But its certainly not their dog, nor does seeing your dog for an hour to even 2 hours leave enough of a lasting impression for them to have the time given their volume to call you to check on your dog. If something is wrong, then you call. It's not their job to call you. Dr. Maddon is the best vet I've ever been to. I'd never bring my dogs anywhere else. EVER.

at first the staff were nice but as soon as we were told the medical bill for our cat ($3,000+) their mood switched up. when explaining to them our money situation was low they never offered alternative care unless asked, and still were upset. their top priority feels more centered towards money than tending to your pet. if you dont have enough money then theres a "best of luck" attitude. we went over to the ASPCA instead and they gave us full treatment (IV, catheter, medicine, overnight stay, & food) for $125 as opposed to the $3,000. makes me feel as if the treatment is the same why would it cost more? i highly suggest if its an emergency & you make under $50k then choice the ASPCA ❤️ best of luck and prayers to anyone's pet who is needing severe care. pets health comes first before $$$

The vet failed to detect my cats oral cancer (even though it was a large inoperable tumor on her jaw). A month after being diagnosed with a gum infection we had to put her down. When I took her in and they told me it might be cancer they didn't even give her the first round of pain medication she was prescribed. I had to send her back in and ask for them to do it even though she was in extreme pain. They they recommended that she go on a wait list for an oral cancer center when she was obviously in such bad shape she needed to be seen immediately. I took her in to VERG the next day and it was determined to be so large that it was inoperable. Park Slope Veterinary Care never even followed up with to determined what happened with her. They do not care and do not accurately diagnose.

Two problems: the prices are extraordinarily high, both for services and for medicines, and the staff at the front desk are rude, unhelpful, and - no other way to say it - just incompetent. Needless to say, we won't be going back and I would recommend that even if this place is convenient to you, go elsewhere. I really am sad to say that the entire experience was so bad, they are not interested in providing the best care for your pet, but creating issues to increase billing. Rather than go through this again, I've switched to a new vet. It just isn't worth ruining your pets health with unnecessary interventions, just to increase the earnings of a vet. I felt scammed and robbed at the same time from this place. If you love your pet don't leave it with this vet.

My dog passed away almost two years ago. And the care I received from this place helped speed up the process. I will never forget them or forgive them. It started with them not taking him because I was 17 minutes late and they don't accept that. (Despite me waiting hours in the their waiting room) I did end up finding a great vet but I would never recommend Park Slope Veterinary Care. They were great when I first got my dog but that Dr left and the people who have circulated through have set a new low bar for care and service. Don't waste your time and protect your pet. There are so many offices that care for your animals don't go here.

Dr. Madden is an absolute angle man. The entire staff here has been amazing. We have been more times than I wish were needed since getting our pup a few months ago, and I doubt I'll go anywhere else in the future unless I leave the neighborhood. Dr. Madden and his staff have been nothing but lovely. Everytime we walk by the building, my pup walks up to the door, tail wagging, wanting to go in. For a vet to have such a positive reaction from a dog seems like a pretty huge statement to me. If my dogs happy to go get shots and stiches and other procedures done, I'm a happy dad and you've got a loyal customer.

I called PSVC in a panic when I thought my new to NYC senior dog had a UTI. They didn't know me at all, but they scheduled me next day. They were so thorough and caring that they ended up finding out my dog didn't have a UTI, but Cushings disease. I am now working on the management and treatment of that with them- they are so thorough, responsive, affordable and easy to work with. Both Dr's are fantastic, and Allison is exceptional. I am the world's most nervous and overbearing dog mom, and they make me feel at ease. I couldn't recommend them more, and my dog is lucky to be under their care.

This place only cares about making money off of your dying pet with unnecessary testing. Instead of calling back and checking to see how my dog was doing. They call to require more test that was costly. I told the reception she was already dying and there is no way in hell I will put my dog through more tests and examination. She was 14 1^2 years old and he felt she has a lump in her colon. Instead of telling us how to make her comfortable, he wants us to put her through a $400 scanned. Horrible money making business. No heart for our fury family.

I can’t express enough gratitude for Dr. Madden’s exceptional care for my dog. When my dog Gary fell ill, Dr. Madden went above and beyond. Not only did he provide expert and compassionate treatment, but he even took the time to call and check in while he was on vacation – a true testament to his dedication. Dr. Madden is a one-in-a-million vet, and I wholeheartedly recommend his services. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the well-being of our beloved pets.

They did a urine culture and my cat was soaked with his own urine. My old vet was able to do this test without this happening. I was also told to expect a follow up call with the results of that test and bloodwork, but never got one. I called 3 times to check and finally got a voicemail of the results after a rude interaction with front desk staff over the phone (in person the front desk staff were nice, so it must have been a different person that I spoke with).

  • Alexandra Cuervo

Do your homework. The front desk folk are nice enough, the technicians and doctors there are friendly and willing to answer questions but they really try to up-sell you on treatments and vaccines and boosters and stuff your pet probably doesn't need. Just don't agree to anything they offer during your consultation, don't hop on every reminder for vaccines that need redoing until you're sure it's time. I wish I had.

My first experience at PSVC was a good one. I brought my dog in because she had diarrhea and also what I suspected was a ear infection. Dr. Shim and the veterinary staff were attentive and had a pleasant bedside manner. I'm a new pet owner, and don't have a lot of experience dealing with veterinary professionals, but I would recommend PSVC based on how the staff treated me and my dog.

We recently had to put our beloved 16 year-old Shiba Inu to sleep. The vet staff were kind and patient. They took the time to explain to us what would happen and made sure we had plenty of time to say goodbye. I am so grateful for their compassion and professionalism. We will continue to use Park Slope Veterinarian Care when we’re ready to get a new puppy.

  • Amanda Spadaccini

We lost our cat last year to cancer. The staff was so amazing and compassionate. They gave us every option possible and all the time we needed. Couldn’t ask for a more reputable and wonderful place to bring our pets. We will continue bringing our pets here for as long as we live in the city and they’ll let us!

I managed to get a same day appointment for my senior dog and the doctor quickly determined he had an eye ulcer as expected and sent me home with medication that had him feeling better right away. The doctor was very through and the price wasn't crazy high either. Thank you PSVC!

  • Martine Beudert

Over almost 17 years I took my dog, Nellie to this excellent practice. Dr Madden and his team gave excellent care and treatment up to the very end. Many times on a moments notice for a senior dog. Extra kind care as we had to put her down, a time that is never easy.

Great place full of a very caring, knowledgeable and helpful staff - we went through a very challenging year with a few of our pets and the care, concern and partnership of the doctors and staff was unparalleled. So thankful to have a vet like this for our kitties.

  • Mikey Garcia

The doctor and staff here are wonderful every time I come. They’re very attentive, caring and gentle with my dog. I’ve never had a problem for as long as I’ve been coming here. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my dog and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Always have had good interactions with staff and Vet. Dr Madden is a Bulldog lover and always helps my VIKKI when needed. Some may feel it’s a little pricey but for the care and knowledge of staff I think it’s worth it and also get pet insurance

I’ve been to many vets in nyc but this is my favorite! I brought my super anxious cat here for an exam and the overall experience was great from start to end. Lovely team and incredible doctors..Thank you for making this so easy/amazing :)

  • Annemarie Shoemaker

Super friendly and polite staff and caring doctors! I have been there a couple of times with my dog and I feel very good taken care of. They seem to be honest and interested to help and the price is right, too (for NYC standards).

  • Norlene Noble

We love this place. Milo (12y/o) and I have been going to see Dr. Maddon for years. He has a way with dogs and as such Milo is quite comfortable with him. He answers all my questions and does not rush. The staff is also very nice.

  • stacey killings

It was a awesome experience. Dr. Maddon is really good with my dog. He gives the dog top flight medical treatment, and the facility treats your dog with patience, and care. Great place to take your pets.

Dr. O'Donnell has always been extremely helpful when it comes to my high maintenance cat. She's also a very calming presence! Staff is great and everyone is very responsive when I call with questions.

  • Tessa Tyo

The veterinarian and front staff are all thorough, kind, and easy to discuss medical issues with. It’s a delight to work with a small business after attempting to use other corporate vet options.
