My family of 4 went on the Iron Pot Cruise 27 Dec 2022 and had a wonderful time. We were lucky to have Rob Pennicott as Captain - a most humorous, personable and entertaining fella. He knows hundreds of interesting stories about Tassie and his water home from his early days as a cray fisherman. Happy to share them all and still relay them with a hint of 'new story' excitement. We were out for closer to 4 hours than the assigned 3 and had absolutely no objections. We also stopped at the base of a sheer cliff before Rob whistled to the house above so his mum and dad could come out on their verandah for a wave. How's that for a family business! We were on a new boat that comfortably accommodated 12 people in its generous seats, all with unobstructed views. (Also has a toilet on board.) It was such a wonderful day that most of us stood at the back or on the front deck. Preliminary info sent by the company is comprehensive and clear. It is VERY helpful for those new to Hobart with a need to find parking close by. Suggest if you go for the 10.00am tour you get in no late than 8.00, park the car, have breakfast in one of the many pleasant places nearby and mosey on to the departure point around 9.45. One final, laudible point: Pennicott Tours donates a considerable proportion of its profits to its Foundation which initiates coastal conservation projects and educational programs. Forget KFC taking your money - let Rob have it instead for a much better cause. Thank you for a great day Pennicott Tours!

This is a tour worth its weight in gold! Once-in-lifetime views of the peninsula and so up close as well - with a fantastic team. Our bus driver was named Marni (not sure how it’s spelt, but he drove us on 13/06/22), and we would like to say how thankful we are regarding how patient and professional he was during our tour. He was a lovely guy and we hope he remains in the business (even though on our day, there were quite a few people pushing ALL of our buttons!). He was very sincere and attentive, especially when myself and my partner accidentally stayed a bit too long at the lavender farm and he came back in to escort us back to the bus, without being angry or pushy. He goes out of way to be nice to everyone, and we hope he knows that it doesn’t go unnoticed! Our boat drivers were named Andrew and Will, who were also very knowledgeable and very approachable. They were kind enough to always turn the boat 360 degrees so everyone on each side of the boat could get some photos of the gorgeous sights around. We were out on quite a choppy day and they handled the boat with great skill and ensured we were all safe, but still getting quality views. They frequently checked if everyone was doing alright because of these rough conditions. Pennicott Wilderness Journeys is led by a fantastic team and I couldn’t recommend them enough. I hope if my review is enough to compel someone to book a tour with these guys, they are lucky enough to get Marni as their driver, and Will and Andrew as their boat people - as they made our experience so memorable and unique.

We had a wonderful day out on Bruny Island with our guide, David, and five other passengers. The bus was clean and modern. David immediately made us all the focus of his attention, and created a fun and happy atmosphere. The tour was punctual and well organised, but flexible enough to alter the destinations according to time and weather. Each of our stops was prepared for our arrival, and were very hospitable. I also feel each was ‘best in class’ on the island for their particular product eg cheese, beer, chocolate, honey etc. David had a great knowledge of local and natural history and shared it all as we visited interesting view points. Overall we had a busy, enjoyable day that suited all the passengers including those less mobile. We feel we got excellent value for money. We have also come away with the sense that the Pennicutt ethos is about contributing back to the various communities they share with their visitors, and seem very well respected for the work they do. Thankyou for a lovely day out!

We went on the Tasman Island Cruise and it was so well organised that we joined the Bruny Island tour the next day as well. Our guides Phil (Tasman Island cruise) and Allan (Bruny island tour) shared lots of local history and stories with lots of humour, they always made sure everyone was back on the bus and catered for everyone’s different diets/food options. The Tasman Island cruise was so much fun, spectacular experience on the water and you’ll definitely get the perfect photo of seals and dolphins. Just remember to wear warm clothes - it’s quite chilly and windy even when it’s 30 degrees on land. The Bruny island tour is much more relaxed, we get driven around to lookouts, spot white wallabies and try the delicious local food produce. Allan even stopped by the Get Shucked oyster drive thru so we could all buy a dozen oysters each on the way home. We highly recommend their tours.

We booked a tour to see Bruny Island with them. They picked us up in Kettering with a comfortable bus. We chose to be picked up in Kettering as we did not want to park in Hobart city for the day. They do have a Hobart meeting point as well. We then crossed with a ferry to Bruny Island and enjoyed the bus ride to Adventure Bay with commentary from a very knowledgeable tour guide about the area. We then enjoyed a 3-hour boat cruise in their famous yellow boats while enjoying the sites around Bruny Island. Our tour guides were very informative and showed us things we would otherwise have not seen if we did the trip ourselves via car. I would definitely use their services again in future and highly recommend them.

We had an amazing coach trip to the car ferry and across to Bruny island and then travelled on the coach to the boat wharf at Adventure Bay. Well all our dreams came true! We saw amazing rock cliff formations, blow holes, caves, migratory birds, Seals lazing and fighting on the island off shore AND dolphins and Albatrosses. Was so much fun, enthralling and entertaining with the banter of the boat staff and the gorgeous Izzy who not only drove our coach with a great story for so many points of interests but deckie on our boat. Thrills and spills on the fast and powerful boat but always felt safe and cared for by everyone. Amazing Trevali fish meal at restaurant plus morning tea. Honestly couldn’t fault the day

An absolute must do! I did the tour from Hobart with the Tasman Peninsula Cruise & Entry to Port Arthur Historic Site. Alan who drove us in from Hobart was awesome, full of knowledge of all the areas and towns along the way! I’m currently visiting TAS from QLD and he gave me a load of places to visit just from his commentary. Thank you! The cruise itself was absolutely incredible and photos just don’t do it justice, the landscape is gorgeous! Added bonus we saw seals! Everything in this tour is well thought out, seas sickness pills for those who forgot and hand warmers for the way back, If I could rate this company 10 stars I would! I hope to do another Pennicott journey when I visit TAS next

Bruny Island Gourmet Sightseeing Day Tour was an absolutely brilliant day out that was packed full of activities and food. Our guide Daniel was so accommodating and professional which made the experience truly memorable. Tried some beautiful foods made locally on the island including cheeses, beer fudge, homemade ice cream and the tour also included a enjoyable lunch. The tour took in some of the most picturesque sights of the Tasmanian coastline as well as a short walk through the rainforest. A truly worthwhile tour touching on so many aspects of the island. Highly recommended. Thanks again Daniel for making it such a memorable occasion, both Kathy and myself thoroughly enjoyed the day.

It was spectacular experience. We went there in June, not many people. Just my friend and me, an another retired couple. It's a chilling morning when we boarded the boat. The staff started explaining their business, passion and technique in fishing, sailing and the bits of the ecology there, showing us the breathtaking views and geography. They then started collecting seafood from the seabed. They even showed me how to sail! You see their smile and passion for the job and the place, very heartwarming and impressive. There was simply an unlimited supply of wine, drinks, oysters, salmon, abalone, sea urchin...you name it. It's most enjoyable local tour I ever had. A 10 star for them.

A friend chose to do Pennicott’s seafood seduction cruise for her 40th birthday and IT WAS ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! While not a cheap cruise, it definitely defied expectations. Our guides Hamish and Jordan were amazing hosts. They were knowledgeable, approachable and easy going and made the whole trip so comfortable. The fresh caught seafood (literally caught in front of you and cooked right there) was sensational. We were never hungry, bored or lacking for a drink. These guys were fantastic and we cannot recommend them highly enough. Would 100% do a tour with them again. Thank you so much for this experience guys!

I did two tours with Pennicott this week. Both were terrific. The first was to Port Arthur Historic site from Hobart. Paul, our driver and guide was professional, friendly, full of good stories and local knowledge. A real pleasure to travel with! The second tour was the Bruny Island Traveler! I was thrilled when I was picked up at my hotel and discovered that Paul was the driver and tour guide again! A great tour, awesome value, full of surprises! Great lunch, wonderful wander through areas only available to Pennicott. Paul was knowledgeable, paced us well (we were a group of 8); dealt with a minor crises for one of the other passengers very well. An awesome day! Thank you!

Myself & my wife took the Bruny Island tour , from the moment we arrived at the office the staff were exceptional they had us all sorted , than it was time to meet our coach drivers for the day . On driver was Ben , now without a doubt he was the most informative and vell versed person I have had the privilege to meet , when we reached our destination on Bruny Island the Restaurant staff were terrific, now for the boat ride it was truly amazing a good narrative from Kate our Skipper along the way . It was a fantastic day & would highly recommend it to anyone travelling Tasmania.

The Tasman Island Cruise my family went on today was genuinely one of the greatest experiences of my life. The coastline is absolutely stunning to see from that point of view, and the wildlife was amazing. Our crew was fantastic, their banter made for a really entertaining trip, even though we wouldn't have been bored with the experience. The overall process from booking to finishing our tour was smooth, and very friendly and accommodating. I would give more than 5 stars if I could, our entire group of 12 were raving about it for days, and I'll recommend it to everyone I know.

We did the day trip to Port Arthur which included a return bus journey, the eco-cruise for the Tasman Peninsula and entry into the Port Arthur Historic Site. The whole day was arranged very well and all the staff were lovely. The cruise was one of the highlights of our trip - absolutely stunning sea cliffs and lots of seals! The boat ride itself was a lot of fun. If you do the full day trip like we did, I would suggest eating your lunch (and they give you so much of it!) fairly quickly to maximise your time at the historic site - it is a lot bigger than we thought it was!

This is a very impressive company. We did the Bruny Island trip. Picked at Kettering by Jamie driving the coach and taken to Adventure Bay. What an asset this champion is. Great commentary. Our boat was captained by Ben and Michael and could not fault their enthusiasm for the local area and the care for their charges. Sandy at the office was so helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Then Sarah took care of us with the biggest smile in the restaurant. What an amazing work culture you must have here at Pennicott's. Boat captains even clearing and serving in the restaurant to help out. That is what we call fantastic staff. Thank you to all

  • Rainer Sdorra

We just returned from the Bruny Island Traveller tour. The day was grey with non relenting showers. Despite this, we had a wonderful experience, saw great sights, and ate lots of good food. The highlight was getting a personalized tour by the owner through the most amazing gardens at the Bruny Island Chocolat Company. To see such beauty in a remote location was not expected. A special mention must go to our driver Allen, who was an encyclopedia of knowledge and looked after all of us in an incredible way. Also, kudos to Pennicott Wilderness for setting a standard in caring about their guests and looking after the ecology of Tasmania.

  • Abel Chia

I went with my family on their Tasman Cruise, the crew was very friendly, knowledgeable and informative. The biggest worry about this tour is sea sickness but fret not, the crew was extremely attentive, they offered ginger tablets to everyone and reassured that if we felt unwell at any point, they are always on hand to assist us. We had a blast while speeding around the waters of Tasman Island, spotted seals and dolphins. We genuinely enjoyed this trip and it is a MUST DO if you are in Hobart!

Second time touring with Pennicott and I’m glad to say it was just as amazing as the first time. Second tour was the Bruny Island Traveller and it’s an amazing trip filled with lots to see, eat and drink. Matt was our guide and we couldn’t have had anyone better - funny, knowledgeable and passionate. I highly recommend this tour and this tour company. My partner and I took the Bruny Island Traveller Tour and had a wonderful time. It was a very comprehensive tour of the island covering both the north and south ends. Barry, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, with answers to almost all the questions we could ask! He was also very skilled at guiding, knowing when to take breaks, when to engage with the tourers, and when to let us go on our own little adventures. All stops were full of interesting sights and food, and I'd highly recommend it to all wishing to visit the island.

  • Jay Bichard

Had an amazing trip out to Bruny island! We opted for the pick up from Kettering, our guide Nat was knowledgeable and funny! We then had the three our boat ride seeing some of the amazing sights of Bruny island. Our skipper Ben had lots of knowledge and stories and a great sense of humour! We also had the lovely Ash as our deckhand who was extremely attentive to the well being of everyone. All staff were very caring of everyone’s health and Saftey. Has been an amazing day from start to finish! I would highly recommend this tour!

Thanks you guys Hope you do better day by day Best wishes from us Keep rock

Highly recommend the Bruny Island cruise. Jamie our guide was excellent and interactive with a lot of local knowledge. As there were only three of us in the bus on the way from Kettering, we also managed to also squeeze in a few extra highlights on the way! The boats are excellent quality and they provide full wet weather gear so you don’t get wet. The Dolorite cliffs, dolphins, seals and other wildlife are a must see and the best way is certainly this cruise! Lunch was also great when we got back!

  • Amy

We did the Bruny island day tour and had Paul as our tour guide and he was super nice and very knowledgeable about Hobart and Bruny island. The day was so much fun and we got so many interesting facts that we wouldn't have known otherwise. We got heaps of little tasters from every place we went to in Bruny island. The cheese and the oysters were so good. So glad we did this tour, great value for Money.

We did the Iron Pot Cruise from Hobart and Luke our tour guide was awesome !! We really enjoyed the history of this tour. My two teens enjoyed it but loved the Bruny Island cruise more from the same company that we did last year. Luke did do a couple of nice swerves that the kids enjoyed. Great way to spend 2 hours out in the bay and learn great history and geology of Hobart ! Thank you Luke :)

We joined the seafood seduction journey. There is a small group of 8 tourists including ourselves. You cannot get seafood more fresh than this, they catch it from the ocean and immediately cook in front of you. The food is delicious and abundant, I would suggest you to skip breakfast before going aboard. The trip lasted almost 8 hours, get some motion sickness pills if you are not good at sea.

We went out on a beautiful day in a nice and clean little boat to Iron Pot Lighthouse. Because of it's size, you did feel every little wave and you were pushed back into your seat when it accelerated. But to me, that just makes it a better experience. My daughter was a little bit sea sick though. Again , because of the size, you were able to get close to the rock walls of the caves, the seals, and even the fish farms. If you can handle the bumpy ride, I recommend this cruise.

A wonderful experience and a must do when in the south of Tassie. As locals, we take for granted that we can see our amazing coastline any time but nothing is quite like the Pennicot cruise experience. Our skipper, Andrew was extremely knowledgeable and has a genuine passion for bird watching so he has a keen eye. Emma, our delightful guide, was so kind and helpful to all passengers. Our bus driver was also very friendly and informative. Overall a brilliant trip.

Well what can I say. We had a quite enjoyable Tasman Island trip on 28th December. Even though it got a bit rough, the boat, crew handled it well. Special thanks to Drew (I think that was the driver/captain) he was great, funny, enthusiastic. Also Lilly (his deckie, I think that was her name) she was exceptional. Can't wait to organise another trip with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys. It was awesome.

Recently did the Bruny Island cruise and all the reviews we had read are correct - it’s incredible! Highly recommend for the sights alone, let alone how magical it is getting up and close to animals like seals in their natural environment. The staff on the boat were amazing and so entertaining! Definitely advise you rug up, put on a ton of sunscreen/bring sun safe apparel, and take some snacks along though!

  • Christine Patching

As we had purchased tickets early there was no waiting time for us. After a safety drill we left the jetty clad in wet weather ponchos. It was cold, wet and exhilarating. Very worthwhile, just for the experience. We managed to see some seals and albatrosses. It’s luck of the draw whether you see dolphins etc.
