This was my absolute first visit at Petco. It was across the street from one of my doctors. And being a good way from home and missing my pet, unable to bring him this time because my friend that lives in that area well she had to work that morning. And the doctor that I see that's right in that area is a neurologist and not just any neurologist a specialist in that field and the lady that was going to watch my puppy works in the nursing field with some High degree. Now I walk into Petco and I am greeted and everybody's looking around see where is my pet. I noticed they had a mixture of young people middle-aged people then you even older people. That impressed me. I stopped and asked where this would that was and was escorted right to it asked what type of pet I had and the type of personality within the animal. I guess I got to talk to just about everybody in the store from the people that washed them and groom them the ones that make sure that the toys that the pets get are safe. The types and qualities of foods for the animals we're from a middle grade an extremely high grade. Yes the staff was knowledgeable the leashes collars medicines anything else that was there they can tell you everything about it they just didn't pick it up bring it off the back I talked to some of the Young workers they talked about what they were taking in college what they were investing their life in in a degree and how wonderful of a company that they were working for, very interesting I spoke to some of the older employees how well they were treated and with everything else I was told I was very pleased. No one that was there had any problem with the store or the products. I thought maybe some of the higher grade dog foods were perhaps a little high. Yes there were a few things in there that I was not impressed with. Namely the Gourmet duck canned dog food. Let me just say this if I'm cooking duck at the house my dog is eating also. I can't see that living in Louisiana south Louisiana that I would need to go buy a gourmet and of duck dog food 4 x amount of dollars. But anyway what a store and how proud I was to see the young and old working together to hear the realistic dreams and goals and to have kids working there that we're in college going to be in wonderful Fields when they graduate. Just goes to show people that love animals people that have pets we look for a little bit better stuff in life and expected from ourselves and the people around us

Terrible service on behalf of the groomer and assistant manager. Drop my dog off for an appointment and went over the details, also let the groomer Dawn look over and feel my dog to ensure that she could complete the service. Dropped my dog off at 10 AM. Dawn calls me back at 1:30pm telling me that she cannot service my pet bc she is matted on her butt in one area. Despite her checking prior to see if she could service her or if she felt like she was matted before I left. Then on top of that when I pick her up, she is all aggressive, rude. I explain to her that I have the brush and she checked prior to me leaving. Her rude tone and remark was wild. She appears to be on drugs and lazy and doesn't want to do her job basically. Her mouth was twisting and eyes buck. And now she actually is matted Bc she wet her and didn't brush back out. Then the assistant manager Jennifer was surprisingly even more weirder. Customer service doesn't exist here. Explained the encounter to her and her remark was just ok. Lol complete joke and I'm glad I don't do my job how they do theirs.

If you need assistance and you find Mariah do not even bother. She is extremely rude and disrespectful and makes her job seem like it’s everyone else’s problem and just an inconvenience to her. She charged me $25 for a $12 fish and when I asked to be refunded didn’t even bother to refund me even though I never walked out with a fish and proceeded to tell her employee that she didn’t refund me because I just “walked out” which was not at all true (i found this out after a week of not being refunded and going into the store, another employee told me all this information and refunded me) Like I said do not even bother this women needs to be terminated because she clearly cannot work customer service. Besides that everyones else is pretty nice and helpful!

This one star review has nothing to do with the service I received but rather an interaction I witnessed involving the manager and an employee. I truly believe that petco corporate should investigate this manager. I watched this manager fully scream at this young employee for around 5 minutes over a small mistake that could have easily been fixed with a quiet conversation. This interaction occurred in front of customers and coworkers and was humiliating and disgusting. By the reactions of the other employees, I believe that screaming and humiliation is a common tactic used by this manager to punish her employees. To the young woman on the receiving end of the tirade, I am so sorry nobody should speak to you like that, especially over a small mistake.

Always has what I'm looking for. The staff are great about scanning coupons I don't even know about, so I always get a good deal. They have frequent and varied sales, and I stop by on a regular basis to check out the clearance section. I haven't had much luck with fish from this particular Petco, but I can't say I've had much luck with fish from other establishments either! I've also noticed that this place has better prices than the PetSmart across town in Magnolia Place, so the savings are an added bonus. I was also really pleased with the obedience classes they put on. The woman who taught mine was excellent (hi Nichole!), but she has since left, so I can't attest to the quality of the current instructor.

Came here for a few neon tetra fish for my sons fish tank. We asked for help from Mariah and she was extremely rude to my husband, children, and myself the whole time we interacted. She scolded my husband (who was standing in an aisle away from her) for watching her get the fish out of the tank. When I looked up and watched her scoop fish out I saw her holding the net out of the water and pintching the net on the bottom. She did not ask about which one of fish we decided we wanted to add to our tank as well. And anytime my children including my son who was picking fish were in the same aisle as her she would scold them to "get out of the way." Update: just got home and 3 are already dead.

We were having issues with our pups diet. He was having a hard time keeping certain food down without getting sick. Talked with the vet and were essentially put through the motions. Swung by petco and spoke with the manager, Denis, who recommended some a lighter fish and rice dog food and different brand we had not yet gotten for our dog. While helping us, he consistently made equal time with all customers. We watched the other employees also help everyone worth great care. Awesome staff that are very passionate about their craft.... we will definitely recommend this location to anyone any chance we get.

This store has the worst customer service of any Petco I've ever been in. I come here once a month and see them arguing with other customers nearly every visit. It's not even a particular section or person. It's like it's the culture of the store. Grooming and the main floor both do it. Everytime I call it's like I ruined there day. Everyone I speak with sounds angry. It's the complete opposite at the Carrollton location. Everyone is super helpful there. It's literally just this store. I worked at Petco for years. Never seen anything like this!

I would love to say that I have at least made a purchase here recently, but have made several *attempts* would be more accurate. They never have crickets available anytime that I have ever come here. No matter what day of the week or the time of the day or how long until ive waited to come back. Not once. I understand live animals get sold out and from time to time it happens at other Petcos also, but literally every single time that I have ever come here. Its not this much of a problem in mid city or the westbank so clearly its an issue here.

I have frequented this location every week to purchase food for my frogs for the last ten years. Over that time the reptile/amphibian department has gotten smaller and smaller and the service has become abysmal. Although their staff has increased it seems there is a greater turnover and so they are less knowledgeable. With the opening of the new Petco on Carrollton I am hopeful that I can finally abandon this frustrating and pitiful location. I would have rated them zero stars but in order to post a comment you have to give at least one.

This is the worst pet store. I have been coming here for years because it's the closest pet store to me. I avoid it if I can. Always new faces. They don't know what they are doing. Aisles are always cluttered. It's a mess. Today's experience...The cashier was texting on her phone while checking me out. I asked her a question which she didn't hear and didn't respond to because she was distracted on her phone. Every time I walk into this store there is something wrong. It's ridiculous. I do not recommend shopping here.

Look I never post reviews anywhere but I felt obligated to after me and my friend went in there last night to get a few things and the girl with the short light purple hair acted like we were holding her up from checking us out because we were talking to each other for a second. She was just so incredibly rude, rolled her eyes at me personally & just had a really bad attitude and customer service. Everyone’s allotted a bad day, but if you can’t be nice at the very least maybe you shouldn’t be in customer service.

I received exemplary service for my special needs, brain damaged, anxiety-riddled dog, Fannie, from Dawn (the groomer) and her staff. Fannie is a hair machine, and the shedding has been a mess but and I had resisted bringing her to a groomer for years fearing she would have a bad experience due to her anxiety. When I went to pick Fannie up after her appointment she did not want to leave! I am very pleased with the quality of service and will be bringing Fannie back every 8 weeks for services.

Everyone at the store is very friendly but today I went to get a rat and noticed a red discharge around their eyes but didn’t think anything of it until I got home and did research after hearing her constantly sneezing and wheezing ....wasn’t herd in store due to loud music.....the red discharge around her eyes and nose and the sounds she’s making is due to a respiratory infection than usually is fatal to rats....this is the last time I get a sick animal from Petco

I’ve been going to the Petco on Tchoupitoulas in NOLA for almost 4 years. Even when I get coupons to shop online at petco or from other services, I have continued to choose to come to this store. Everyone who works here is friendly and helpful. The store is clean and always well stocked. I like coming here and choosing out different food flavors for my pet, trying new toys, meeting cats available to adopt, and just talking to other nice people who like animals.

Went to the store a few weeks ago, and was forced to leave because the "manager" with the multicolored hair believed we were lingering in the store and not purchasing anything. She then proceeded to bug her eyes out at us. I'll definitely only visit the location when she isn't there. Other than that the staff is super friendly but because of that one specific person it made my experience horrible.

love the store. love the staff. love the selection. was just disappointed that the item i was seeking was a little hard to find - mostly because it was sold out. for my regular needs - kibble and treats - the store is 100% reliable, but occasionally when I have sought something slightly out of the norm - eye wipes or a specific toy - I have found the items out of stock.

Zero customer service. Very rude salesperson, Mariah. Accused me of trying to take a dog pen without paying, because it was on the bottom of my buggy and had honestly forgot about it because I had multiple other items, that I had already paid for, in my cart. I wouldn’t be shopping at overpriced Petco if I was one to try and steal things. Won’t be returning here.

This store NEVER has anything in stock and the stuff they do have it SO OVERPRICED! go to JEFFERSON PET & FEED IN MID CITY! this store is always a DISASTER too! It looks like they're going out of business 24/7.... I don't even know why I try to shop here.. but after this last trip I won't be going back. So ridiculous!

Shiloh just helped me so much with some fish tank issues I was having. She was not only genuinely kind, but very knowledgeable and I feel much more confident now with handling our tank! Angel (my angel fish) and Greenie (our green tetra) are ever grateful for Shiloh helping me to insure their continued health!

I bought 4 guppies from here and within a few days they had all mysteriously died. My water is fine and I have 2 other guppies bought from a different petco location that have been alive for over a month. I don’t think this petco’s fish are healthy and I would encourage people to buy their fish anywhere else.

Despite the crazy set-up we all have to adjust to, Petco was the fastest "order online - pickup in store" I've placed since quarantine! My order was kept close to the door and the friendly associate even carried it to my car for me. Their stock always seems satisfactory despite the end-of-times hoarders.

Mariah was one of the rudest people I have encountered and made my experience shopping here miserable. My friend and I were so uncomfortable the whole time there, especially when checking out. After reading reviews, I’m surprised she still works there as they’re all negative.

Large inventory and seems well stocked, so it is an excellent option for any urgent pet need. They host a vet 3 times a month for maintenance checks and shots which is helpful, but they don't offer any dog training resources there anymore so that was a disappointment.

My dog went to get her nails cut and when we got her back her nails were not cut,but we had to pay the bill. The girl who had our dog said our dog moved around a lot. I understand but she should've called us to let us know,not charged for a service that wasn't done.

I wish I had gotten their names, two different employees helped me out and they were OUTSTANDING customer service!! I was looking for some options to help my cat with fleas and they were so thorough and totally went above and beyond to help me. Thank y’all so much!!

Right now the fish section is essentially closed due to repairs. Not their fault. Just a heads up, if you need fish stuff you can still get that, just not actual fish. Otherwise a good pet store, conveniently located, with free parking. Can't beat that!

Straightforward visit for dog food and treats. Got everything I needed and was approached multiple times by friendly staff offering assistance. Didn't need much help but nice to know that someone was readily available if I did. Awesome visit!

Had 0930 grooming appointment. Showed up 0915 and heard 'we're not sure when the groomer is showing up!' 0950, still no groomer but they're getting help from another store??? I would have been charged $80.00 for not canceling within 24Hrs.

This Petco was set up very nicely, if you owned a dog as a pet. As a cat owner, I had trouble finding the cat food, toys, etc. Everything, cat wise, was way in the back lefthand corner of this huge store. Signs would have been nice. …

Typical Petco with all the bells and whistles. I come in here to get wet food for both of my cats and toys occasionally. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Prices are higher than online but it's two blocks away so super convenient.

They have a large selection of items for your pets. There is just about everything you might need. They also have fish and other little creatures. The staff is very helpful and informative. Will help you with all your needs.

This is one of the few local stores which carry Halo's Garden of Vegan dry dog food in the large (10 lb.) bag. Puppy likes this food, so now I shop here more often - although it is 10 miles from where we live.

A good location and friendly staff. I was looking for an item though that they usually have and could not find it. A staff member told me the inventory was limited because of COVID. Luckily Pet smart has it.

The people who work here have always been especially nice and have gone out of their way to help me in the store with my dog. They even let my dog try on a Halloween costume before we bought it. Very nice!

I ordered a few things online for my two new kittens during the kitten essentials sale. The order was ready within 30 minutes and the cashier was very courteous while helping me! Great experience!

The Aquatic section here has really gone downhill. Feeder Rosy Reds made my fish very sick. Surprise surprise they didn't have the medication I needed to cure it. Went to PetSmart.

The store is less than 5 miles from my house & it was a simple outing with my dogs. No waiting in line or hassle whatsoever and I saved $15 off of expensive flea medicine.
