SUCH a great bicycle shop! Tom and Lori are absolutely AMAZING and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for high quality service provided with passion and integrity. It's clear that they are passionate about what they do, and they understand the sentimental importance and value of the restorations they complete. I recently had my mom's CCM bike from her childhood (which I also rode as a teenager) restored with Rath. The bike was in rough condition as it was stored in a farm quonset for 50 years. Tom worked with me over the phone and in person to create the restoration I wanted for this precious memory. They even built a new bicycle seat for me as I wanted to retain the original blue and white seat, but it was no longer salvageable. I don't know how they did it, but they restored the bike to perfection, even preserving the original decals! Working with them was such a fun and pleasant experience, they even delivered the bike for me as I couldn't pick it up in person. If you are thinking of getting a bicycle restored, I would highly suggest you get in contact with them, you won't regret it! Got grandpas old bike, and wish you could ride it again- But don't want to take up vintage bicycle repair as a new hobby? Rath Bicycle is the place to go! I had them do a full restoration on my grandpa's very unique old bike and Tom and Lori where more than excited to take on the project. They had a genuine enthusiasm I don't think I could have found anywhere else. I can't believe how good of a job Tom did restoring the corrosion damage to all the chrome. The bike rides as good as it looks too, with all new cables, brand new (not easy to find) tires, and a full rebuild I couldn't be happier. The project came in on budget and was done even faster than expected. I know if I had tried to do this job myself it would still be a pile of parts, because of their expedient work I am super grateful I can ride it this season. If you are on the fence about an old bicycle restoration do not hesitate to bring it to Rath Bicycle, these guys will pour the love into your heirloom peice that it deserves and give you back something you can love for years to come.

Tom and Lori are amazing! They are so nice and knowledgeable at what they do! I purchased an older road bike off Kijiji and was looking for a shop that could do a tune up in a short period of time as I wanted to get riding ASAP. I looked at other shops in Calgary and the wait was about 3-4 weeks! I am so happy I stumbled across their page, I dropped it off for a full service/tune up on Friday and got it back Sunday!!! Amazing service, very thorough with what they do and they are so reasonably priced, not to mention they do drop offs and pick ups in East Village, Inglewood, and Ramsay which was so convenient for anyone downtown! I will definitely be going back to them for any repairs or maintenance work on my bikes and definitely recommend them to anyone I know! I’ve found my new shop!!

I stumbled upon this shop on a summer stroll and Lori offered a test ride and I absolutely fell in love with their bikes. I couldn’t stop thinking about them and ended up going back to purchase the new bike. The bike I purchased was adorable and functional with comfy seats, 7 gears, and it came with a light and a bell. They also have other accessory you could purchase. Lori was very professional, helpful, kind, and friendly both times! Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a new bike. ***edit: a year later and still loving the bike! Got a tune up with Rath bikes and they did an amazing job and went above and beyond my expectations and it’s completely fair placed. Highly recommend their services as well.

Like some other folks on here, I stumbled across Rath Bicycle. I had been looking to revamp/restore my cruiser after not having success at some of the bigger shops. I contacted Lori, who was quick to respond, friendly, and clearly enthusiastic about bikes. On drop-off, I chatted with Tom about what I wanted from both safety and aesthetic perspectives - he was informative, helpful, and excited. I appreciated his candid advice and opinions about what should/needs to be done to the bike vs what doesn't need to be done. I had no expectations going in - now, I've recommended Rath to no fewer than 5 people looking to tune/fix up their bikes. I was SO happy with the final product. 10/10 service.

Lori and Tom at Rath Bicycle are miracle workers. I wanted to restore my childhood banana seat bike, which was about 45 years old, covered in rust and corrosion and falling apart. I didn’t think it would be possible but they did the impossible and restored it to its original glory, right down to the smallest details. They were even able to find the original manufacturer labels and stickers and rims. They went above and beyond my expectations with restoring what I though was an unsalvageable bike and turned it into a piece of art. They are passionate, professional and highly skilled at what they do. I highly recommend Rath Bicycle for any and all restoration work you may need.

I hired Tom and Lori to restore my uncle's 1945 tricycle. Tom did lots of research on the original manufactures of the tric including the potential original paint colors. I left them a rusty, seized up tricycle and they did an amazing job restoring it to functional beautiful red tricycle! Tom even took apart all the wheels, fixed the rust spots and repaired the dents. I am blown away at how good the bike looks and am so excited for our 5 month old son to learn to ride a family heirloom! I would highly highly recommend Rath Bicycle's! They were both so excited to do such a tiny project and the quality of work really shows! Thank you for doing such an amazing job!!

I found an old road bike in my dad‘s garage and took it to Rath to be refurbished for my husband. The final product was better than I could have hoped for. Not only have they made the bike look like new - all period correct parts, as clean and fresh as it would have been from the factory - they turned the bike around in only a few weeks. Also, Lori researched the bike’s origins and learned that it was made the same month of the same year my husband was born. It’s made a perfect gift that I would not have been able to give without the Raths help. 100% recommend and we will continue to use Rath Bicycle for our service and future refurbishing needs.

Just purchased a new Retrospec bicycle from them. The experience was wonderful! They are very knowledgeable and I trusted their recommendation on this brand. Answered my questions quickly on Facebook and delivered my bicycle after they customized the handlebar. Price was very reasonable for the quality. If you're looking for a bike I'd recommend speaking with them. Update: Had a couple repairs needed for the bike (loose chain/light mounting issue) and they fixed each issue for no charge. Lori and Tom even drove out to my house one occasion. You will receive high quality continued service with Rath. Really impressed!

Amazing service! I had destroyed my road bike last summer (don’t ask) to the point where several other bike shops refused to fix it. Rath immediately diagnosed the problems, and what was going to need replacement. The owners seemed extremely knowledgeable, and you could tell they were passionate about bikes. Less than a week later I had my bike back in perfect shape. It has never ran or looked so good. I was expecting to pay a fortune considering they basically rebuilt the whole bike. It turned out to be extremely affordable. I will be taking all my bikes back to Rath Bicycle for future maintenance and repairs!

Don't often leave reviews but wow such amazing shop! Bought a road bike and got another repaired from Tom, he was super helpful with sizing, repairs, as well as very reasonably priced! If you have a vintage bike, this is hands down the place to get repairs and restorations! I had a problem with the rear wheel alignment few weeks later, he drove up within 30 minutes to my house to help! Not only did he repair it, but informed also me how to do it myself! Never would I expect service like that, such an amazing guy, and shop! Thanks so much again, I whole heartedly appreciate the service and bike :)

Lori and Tom are the best!!! I have not bought a bike from them (yet)...but have got to know them from East Village Junction. They are so warm, honest and kind. They are the type of people that build community and entrepreneurs that contribute and add to Calgary. And they have the cutest bikes that I have my eyes on. Great cruisers at a reasonable price. They also sell great accessories to go with you bike. You can also rent bikes for various lengths of times at a very reasonable rates. I really hope they set up a permanent shop in East Village or nearby.

Great customer service! It was easy to communicate with Lori and Tom from Rath Bicycle. I ordered a bike on Saturday night (even outside their work hours) and got it delivered to our front door the very next day - all built, no box and packaging to worry about, to test ride, to purchase, and to be given quick tutorials on. Appreciate their suggestion to register our bike as well. Glad to support a local Calgary business specially during these uncertain times! Lori and Tom are the reason why you should support local businesses. They are honest, friendly, awesome people who deserve recognition for working as hard as they do! Although I visited to make a helmet purchase, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of their services. Their mission is not the money, it's to make sure you have a great experience, whether you are renting to cruise around the city or restoring an old bicycle. That's what makes them special - that they truly care.

Tom and Ruth (owners) are so, so lovely, knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. My partner and I felt totally at ease, and comfortable asking questions without feeling like dummies. They patiently explained the work they’d done to our bikes and why (we had two box rebuilds and some parts replaced), and gave use some great tips for future improvements should we wish. They also gave us some fun recommendations since we’re new to Calgary! Thanks guys, you’re our new go-to shop!

We stopped in to ask about rentals and were quickly on our way. The lady was so friendly and easy to talk to. She answered all our questions and suggested the perfect paths based on our time and what we hoped to see. They helped us adjust our seats and the bikes were comfortable to ride and came with locks in case we wanted to stop. We rode for almost 2 hours and loved every minute! Our only stop was based on her recommendation - Village Ice Cream! Yum!

I have the unfortunate incident of experiencing a popped tube recently. I didn't have a spare on me and was no where near home, luckily I was within walking distance of Rath Bicycle. They managed to swap out my tube and fill both my tires and gave me tips on bike maintenance. They were incredibly friendly and the service was top notch. I am definitely adding Rath to the list of shops I will go to if i need to get any work done in my bike in the future.

Great customer service! I've got a 90s mountain/cruiser bike that was in need of a thorough servicing. They gave it a full once over including rebuilding the crank shaft and replacing both of the wheels. Had some minor issues after getting it serviced and a small hitch that was as much my own fault as anything but they reached out and resolved the problem promptly! Would definitely recommend them for any bike maintenance/repair needs

A family run business just along the bow river. She came to my house personally with all the color options available for the model I wanted. Very knowledgeable about the bikes and tells you everything you need to know. 4/5 Because the accessories available are quite overpriced, found the pump she sold me for half the price at another place. The bike itself is a beauty. Great price for the style. Will be enjoying this summer!

Tom did a great job rebuilding my wheel (and got it done in 2 days during busy season right before the May long weekend). I have a Nexus 3 internal gear system, and he took the time take the entire thing apart to make sure it was all in good condition. My bike is 10 years old, that was the first time I've ever taken it back into a bike shop, and $250 later I'm riding it out like its brand new. Thanks for the great work Tom!

The Rath family are amazing at what they do. They restored a late family members bike from the 1950's and did an incredible job. Every step of the way, they communicated what they were doing and kept us informed with options and timelines. Very cool and unique bikes. Perfect location for a rental to ride around the river and downtown! Rath bicycle has everything I needed to get going, the bike was perfectly tuned and super comfy. Staff was super friendly and helpful in getting everything setup and helping me get going. Costs we competitive with other ships in the area. Would come here again in a heartbeat!

Took my dads old CCM Targa to Lori and Tom. It was in terrible condition but meant a lot to me. They did an AMAZING job restoring it. Tom truly is passionate about every tiny detail when it comes to how the bike performs and looks. I have gone back for tune ups and more restoration work over the years.
