I tried to order a Bontrager saddle a week ago online and initially had issues with the Ridley's site. Using the chat option I was able to work with a service rep to process my order. An invoice was generated and I received an payment receipt through my email. At the end of the conversation, they stated that my order would go out that day, and I would receive tracking information via my email for said shipment. I checked my email the next morning (a Friday) and there was no such email. I am familiar with online purchasing so I knew that sometimes delays can happen in receiving shipping updates so I figured I would give it the weekend. By Monday evening I had received nothing so I shot out a request for my tracking number. Tuesday at noon I receive a reply stating that the worker replying would look into getting me my tracking number. Wednesday afternoon, I received an update stating that the same worker was unable to find my tracking number and would have to speak with weekend staff who apparently had shipped the item. Thursday just before noon, I receive an email stating that my saddle may have been lost in the mail and that a new one would be shipped out to me right away. I replied and asked again that I be sent a tracking number for my shipment. Three hours later and I still have not received a reply from anyone regarding my last request. This places me at a week after purchase. I have worked with many online stores to order parts for my bike over the last three years and this is the first time I have had this type of experience. In fact, when I have purchased items from stores in the same province, as is the case here (Alberta, CA). I usually get shipping information within 12 hours of completing my order and my items within 2 to 3 business days of ordering them - at no extra cost. I understand the challenges of running a small online business. I understand the challenges that the supply chain is facing right now. But I believe you compensate for hiccups like this with transparency and clear communication IN a timely manner with customers. I look forward to Ridley's Cycle addressing my concerns and will update this post accordingly going forward. UPDATE : I want to thank Greg McDonald from Ridley's for reaching out a few hours after my original post and addressing the issue. I have accepted the generous solution he has proposed. I hope we can continue to turn this back into a positive experience.
Such great service all the time. Zack did amazing set-up on my bike and went above and beyond to get a good fit by swapping out the seatpost for me. I was really struggling with fit because of my long torso and short legs. Emma confirmed everything when I went in for a second test ride and another lady at the front desk (didn't catch her name) set up e-commerce link for me as I realized my limit for transaction amount at the machine was exceeded for my debit card. Earlier that morning I had emailed to check if you had a liv intrigue advanced bike I could try in medium for me to just be certain I had exhausted other options for fit. Melvyn actually called around to other bike shops in the city and told me who had one built in stock. This was perfect and Melvyn sealed the deal with his willingness to go above and beyond as that bike didn't fit, I was confident in my purchase with Ridleys.
Five stars to the humans who work at Ridley's! Came in for a simple tire service. Justin took the time to explain advances in research, materials, and best practices. He suggested solutions and possible upgrades at various price points, including the option to do nothing, and I'm actually happy to have chosen to spend 600% more than budgeted. My new tires are light, comfy, and instill trust in longer rides. The highlights for me were Justin taking the time to explain things and offering the option to affordably service and hopefully eke another season out of my old tires. I don't usually fill out surveys, but Justin's (and the whole team's) exceptional customer service and my post-purchase happiness index compelled me to do so!
Scott was the primary Ridley's staff member that assisted me but the entire team here is phenomenal. The amount of patience Scott had while I asked many beginner questions and the willingness to educate me was greatly appreciated. Scott and the Ridley's team went above and beyond my expectations from the moment I walked in the door and they continue to provide the best customer service even after I've picked up my bike and other accessories. I'll definitely be returning to this store for regular maintenance/service, new accessories, and whatever other bike related things I don't know about yet and I would urge that anyone else looking for anything bike related at least give them a look.
I had 3 wonderful interactions with the Ridley's service staff. Was simply looking for a cable and some mineral oil and over 2 days ended up interacting with 3 different service employees (phone and in-person). All of them were fantastic and spent way more time with me then they needed to considering I was doing my own repairs. I wasn't a big $ customer and I wasn't using them for service, but they wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing and their tips and tricks made the repairs so much easier. I have purchased a bike from Ridley's in the past, and will look to do so again in the future. I will also be sure to use them for any bike servicing my family needs that's beyond my scope.
I recently purchased some items from Ridley's online commerce site. The price for my relatively modest purchase was cheaper and delivered quicker than the same offering by Amazon Prime. It is refreshing that a local retailer offers the customer both a great in-store experience, coupled with an online store that competes in terms of selection, shipping, price and after sales service. Maybe I am an outlier, but I like to get updates that my order was received, processed, shipped (along with tracking)... Ridley's checked all those boxes and more. I am not a frequent poster, but felt my positive experience with Ridley's deserved a shout out and recommendation to others to give them a try.
Can’t say enough about the service and efforts put forth by Toby and the staff at Ridleys Kensington. Ordered a new Ibis only to realize it was the wrong size. Not the shops fault. They sent what we ordered. What they did next however was awesome. Toby reached out to Ibis and Ibis built my wife a new bike in her size and Ridleys had zero issue with returning the one we bought and making it right for my wife. Not once was there any issue, or debate about it. Right away Ridleys did it right. We drove 8 hours to make the exchange and fit the new bike and the experience was great. Thanks again Toby, Ibis and Ripleys staff.
I came in needing a very specific hub part and knowing I would probably need to order it. Talked to one of the techs who helped out right away and knew exactly what I was talking about. He mentioned that it would probably have to be ordered in but went into the back to look anyways (might I mention completely unprompted). He actually had the part. Went far beyond my expectations in his search plus his understanding of exactly what I would need. Did me a massive favour and saved me a lot of time and hassle in research and ordering. Great service and MTB community-vibes from Ridley's tech team.
Great store, friendly staff. I ordered a Trek Checkpoint, after they had assembled I realized that it was more expense and kind of a pain to go tubeless. Luckily they had a Giant Revolt in my size. No problem switching to the other bike. They assembled tubeless(I was happy) great bike. I also purchases a Saris H3 trainer in the fall. I was having issues trying to get my bike to shift correctly. They told me to bring my bike and trainer in. For a minimal charge, I was good to go. I've had a great winter on my trainer. Should be a great summer Thanks to Ridley's Cycle
Prior to Covid I had this place rated at 5 stars and would recommend anyone to go here. With the swell in business due to all indoor activities being suspended I think they’ve lost their edge because they didn’t need to be the best cycling business anymore just “A” cycling business. Bringing a bike here for service couldn’t be a worse experience. I’ve waited 30 plus minutes to get a bike tagged for service only to come back when they call me to the bike not being serviced and still dirty. I’ve bought 2 bikes from here and I think that’s the end of the line.
It took a bit of time but not Ridley's fault, after pendemic it was very difficult to find an entry level road racing bike. But ultimately they followed up with regular email, I ordered it back in July 2021 and received it last week 9th of August 2022. It is a Giant CTR with frame brake, that I prefer over disc brake et after few rides it is really the bike I was looking for. The support I received from Mitchel (Not sure of the spelling) was great and he knows what is cyclocross is...even knowing the racing champions names which is not common..Great job
I bought Trek ebikes and have been very impressed with the initial sales experience, and the after sales service. Due to my own inexperience and no fault of the bike, I caused the chain to come off and get jammed. The service man now only resolved the issue but gave me good instruction on how to avoid the problem in the future, told me about some key features that I did not know about with my bike and helped get some better tools for my tool kit. I was very appreciative. The difference compared to a box store is amazing for a better biking experience.
"I recently visited Ridley's Cycle with a small predicament after purchasing a fender for my mountain bike. Despite my best efforts to install it myself, I couldn't achieve a proper fit and was experiencing an irksome rubbing sound between the fender and tire. When I returned to the shop, the team not only fixed and properly installed the fender but also graciously did not charge me for the additional service. Their generosity and expertise have made a lasting impression on me. A heartfelt thank you to the amazing team at Ridley's Cycle!"
Went in to buy a charger for my e-bike and was told that unless provided proof of sale or the serial numbers and brought the bike in, I wasn't allowed to buy one, basically implying that I stole the bike. I had all the information but after the attitude I received from the staff, I no longer wanted to give then my hard earned money and decided to order it in line instead. I feel that it wasn't any of their business and that they were intruding on my person privacy and accusing me of being a thief. I will never go to this store again.
Buying my new bike from Ridley's Cycle was a great experience. I had a bike in mind that I was interested in and came in just to enquire about it. I loved the zero pressure and zero upsell experience, although happy to answer my questions, the team never tried to get me into a more expensive bike (even price matching a competitor) and didn't try to sell me a bunch of other items. I'll be back to Ridley's when I do need some accessories or tune ups. Thanks for a great experience.
Efficient and friendly customer service. Service is personal and "above and beyond" simple handling via on-line shopping. For example, I brought a couple of products that I'd expected to assemble myself. Rather than simply shipping the two products, they offered to assemble it for me (no charge). It takes effort in recognizing this and asking the customer. That's "above and beyond"! Something one usually see in a local community shop. Kudos to the Ridley staff!
First experience with Ridleys has definitely earned them more of my business.. On top of great sale pricing the customer service I received from e commerce team was exemplary. My poor planning complicated my order and when I needed to make changes this team never missed a beat. They handled it politely promptly and professionally. I really felt in good hands. That's a somewhat elusive feeling these days. Thank you Brendan and Cheyenne. Thank you Ridleys.
Came in with a bike I bought second hand to have it looked at and to make sure it was road worthy, I believe Alex was the one who assessed it and was able to find that that back wheel was wiggling side to side. While unfortunate that I have to try my hand at fixing it, the assessment didn't cost anything and I really appreciate that type of service so I'll definitely be coming back again for more bike gear in the future. Thanks Ridley's Cycle!
The Ridley's Cycle team was professional, quick, and educated! My only hesitation initially was the call with the service tech - they came across as a bit indelicate. But upon meeting with them in person picking up my bike, I have zero complaints. They were polite and knowledgeable! Just a bit short of words, but the work was fantastic and the communication was clear, so 10/10 from me! Highly recommend.
I needed shoes and cleats for a used spin bike I bought. I've never bought bike shoes before but Toby was super helpful and friendly, he took the time to explain to me how the shoes should fit, and was patient as I tried on several pairs. Initially I bought the wrong cleats (totally my fault), but Toby helped me identify the ones I actually needed and I'm super happy with my experience here!
They delivered my wife's bike late, missing components, without a delivery review, lack of correct lubrication to the components. They advertised a payment method and when I went to pay for the bike they told me it didn't exist. It was terrible! I had it checked out at another bike shop, and we bought several upgrades for our bikes. Ridley's Cycle will never see my money again!
Knowledgeable and friendly stuff, I was there for some parts, for twice, both employees helped me to find the best fit. I couldn't remember the first ones name, but Allan was great, he double checked if the front derailleur was fitting to my bike, he let me measure the diameter at home, then ordered. Before your place, I had no bike shop in town, now you are my place.
I took an old bike in for a tune-up. The service staff took a look and recommended a few fixes they could do. They were really helpful in explaining what they could and couldn't do (given the age of the bike) and what I should expect---and the work they recommended ended up being way cheaper than a full tune-up. So considerate of their customers and genuinely helpful!
Every products is high quality. The staff was so awesome to deal with. Educational and knowledgeable staff that teach you and listen to what your goal is and guide you in the right direction with out any pressure to up sell and with in your budget and below too!. The owner Ron was so friendly and genuinely cares about his customers . Such a great local company
We arrived in Calagary and assembled our tandem bicycle for a group trip the next day. There was a problem with our hydraulic brakes that I could not fix myself. We brought the tandem to Ridely's, which was nearby. They were really great and did the repair right away, so no delay for our trip. Could not have asked for better or friendlier service.
The people at Ridley's cycle are some of the most helpful and knowledgeable people around the bike shops here in Calgary. Joe, Toby and Carson (okotoks location) are absolutely fantastic! Purchased a gravel bike here and it was some of the best experience I have had purchasing a bike. Looking forward to working with these guys in the future!
I've been to many bike shops from coast to coast and Ridley's stands out for me. Always reliable friendly service, not a massive shop but well equipped. You should be able to find whatever you're looking for here. Staff are eager to help but won't try to sell you something you don't need. Been in several times, always a pleasant experience.
The Kensington branch is fantastic. A special shout out to Eugene Dominguez (Gino) who was kind, patient, knowledgeable and cheerful as he went through the different options for us. He even phoned the other branches to ensure the bike we wanted was available. Gino is a credit to Ridley's - well done and many thanks!
The service provided by Allan:and his buddy was exceptional. They both went out of their way to make sure that what I needed I:got, meaning they went out of their way and found the piece that I needed. Allan went one step further to ensure that the part was properly fixed and installed. Appreciated.
Ridleys not only dug through their inventory to find an obscure brake part for me (that’s currently on back order through Shimano with an ETA of late December), they arranged to overnight it to Edmonton so I didn’t miss more of this wonderful late fall riding we’ve had this year. Very impressed!
Astonishingly, such a professional staff with deep expertise on bicycles. I thought buying a bike is as simple as paying and taking the bike out but I never thought that I will be walking out with so much information about bikes, will certainly recommend Ridley's to friends and family members.
Lots of nice choices for bikes, My family just bought two Trek bikes here. Super easy-going payment procedure, wonderful communication skills and excellent services. Definitely my famlily's first choice in future. I'm now truly expecting to buy a full suspension MTB at Ridley's Cycle. Thanks!
t want to acknowledge the sales person in Ridleys Calgary who assist us was very friendly and very knowledgeable about he product we bought but unfortunately we didn’t get his name. The whole shop has a friendly ambiance. As for a first time buyer it is not intimidating to be in the store.
I went to get a bike I already researched. But the staff helped me with more information and answered all of my questions. Very friendly and knowledgeable. He made sure the bike is perfectly tuned and installed the accessories for me. A plus point they have parking in the back
Always awesome. Justin who works in service here is probably the best bike mechanic in the city. The retail operation is solid too, always price competitive with great selection. The only negative for this store is the limited parking out back. It's in Kensington, after all.
Working with one of the guys, he was really helpful and explained to us about the kids move up program. Really happy to know we can return the bike, ridley donates it and we get 50% of what we paid towards next purchase as my child grows into the next size! It's a win win!
I have always received great customer service and the service guys are great. I've only had amazing service when going to Ridley's. I have purchased bikes in other local bike shops in town and Ridley's (Kensington) is hands down my favourite. Thanks for being so awesome.
My 2nd favorite bike shop in Calgary, Bow beats them out because of the size. You can come in here and not expect the 'Bike Shop' attitude. Update, was in here today rough experience sales person. I was looking around and he got snarky with me when I asked about bikes.
Found my dream bike at a great price. Toby was very accomodating and had my bike expertly packed and shipped within a couple of days. Great customer service from people who know their product and customers. I highly recommend Ridley's for your ski and bike needs.
The most expensive bike store in Calgary. As a rule, there are no price tags on the goods and you find out the price at the checkout and as a rule it is much more expensive than in MEC or Bike Shop. I got caught twice and will never buy anything here again.
Showed up at 6:59 thinking they were open to 8 pm, they close at 7:00. Let us come in, take a bike for a test ride. What great service, especially since we decided to hold off buying a bike today. Thanks to everyone who was some accomodating and helpful.
We bought two Giant Explorer E bikes over four years ago from Ridley’s and have nothing but excellent experiences from them. We service our bikes yearly and can almost always get right in. The staff is knowledgeable and super friendly! LOVE this place!
I called from Edmonton and Mitchell was greeat to deal with over the phone. When I showed up the bike was ready and he tool the time to go over the bike to make sure the set up was is good. I got a great price as noone in Edonton would match the price.
Incredible customer service and great part selection. On multiple occasions I have come in for assistance and parts for old cheap bikes that are long obsolete and the staff have gone almost out of their way help me out. Can't recommend enough!
I have experienced both new bike purchase AND major servicing (gear change from mechanical to electronic) at the Kensington location. I have found the team to be knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough... in a word professional. Thank you!
Ridley’s Cycle is incredible. From the service and repair team that always get me back on my bike faster than anyone else I know. To the ownership and management that take the time to help me through some big purchase decisions.
Couldn't say enough great things! I seriously needed a tune up on the love of my life and they made it happen very quickly! Great staff and amazing service! Highly recommend and will be returning for all my future cycling needs!
Went to Kensinton Ridley's just to look. James was so helpful did not make us feel pushed at all. Called into order one of the bikes and Charlotte offered even more help and advice. We will be back when another bike is needed!
Great customer service both by email and on the website through the chat. Ordered a bike online and everything arrived in time as described. The only missing piece was a o-ring on the rear shock unfortunately. Recommend.
The best bike shop in Calgary. I busted my dropper post on my yeti sb130 on Thursday and these guys took it in on Friday at 10.30am. Bike was fixed at 11.30am. Awesome service and I would recommend to everyone. Thank you
Ridley’s is the reason bikers should buy local. This is a company that is very engaged with the community and bike culture. Great place for parts, bikes and service. Knowledgeable staff who are passionate about biking.
Always extremely helpful, will help you on the spot if they are able to - they repaired my issue same day. Friendly and respectful of how much we rely on our bikes! I place my trust in Ridleys with my bike servicing.
Knowledgeable staff, excellent selection and terrific service. I’m a long time customer of Ridley’s for a reason. I am happy to support a locally owned shop that puts customer experience above everything else.
Excellent experience. You had a bike that suited me perfectly and allowed me a couple weeks to pay for it. You also tuned the bike, including the spokes prior to my pickup. I've found my new LBS.
They charged me for work I never agreed to. Came for a small job and ended up with a bigger bill than I expected. I’ll end up taking my bike elsewhere next time to avoid additional charges
Managed to fill a replacement battery for my2nd generation of Shimano Di2 battery at Ridley’s cycle. They seem to have an extensive selection of inventory for one’s cycling needs. Kudos
You guys are rock star! Thank you for assisting me getting my new Gravel bike! Awesome service and great to deal with! They gave exactly what i am looking for! Thank you and more power!
Always such terrific service, including great advice in picking out the proper ride. Thankful for the free first year tune up for my Trek Farley fat bike (which I love).
I've purchased a few bikes through Ridley's (Kensington location) over the past few years, and have always found the service to be friendly, and knowledgeable.
All staff are courteous and helpful . The work is always done well. Staff go above and beyond to make getting work done on my bikes as convenient as possible.
Fantastic experience with very helpful staff. We are cycle touring and decided to reroute because of wildfires.. Ridleys helped us with boxes. Thanks again!
Great service! I wasn’t enjoying the bike I bought so they let me exchange it. They didn’t make a big deal out of it and made the experience super easy.
Great service, got me my part I needed to get me back in the saddle for a few more days before my season is shut down due to winter!!
I had a great experience at Ridley’s and Mitchell is an awesome salesperson. Very patient, very knowledgeable and very kind!
Amazing communication, all questions answered right away, fast shipping, highly recommend.
Good pricing, fast shipping and great product selection. All around a great experience.
Placed an order online a while ago, the manager advised to cancel, due to price error.
