I have has persistent issues with Ravenswood Animal Hospital, and this most recent one just took the cake. It is clear that the actual care of animals is secondary to charging for unnecessary procedures. In short, after expressing concern about something seemingly protruding from my dog's skin/fur, rather than the Vet starting off by looking, with her eyes, they immediately started a full exam on my dog ($$$), despite my animal not having any alarming symptoms, my animal having just had a full exam ($$$) and me expressing that I was not in a financial position to drop hundreds of dollars at that moment. ($$$). When I objected to the full exam, with a simple glance, the Vet was able to discern that it was only a stick stuck in my dog's fur. Without any consideration for the obvious anxiety that my dog had (only since I had to do a drop off visit during Covid, which made me somewhat suspicious already) and my very legitimate request, they were fully prepared to charge me hundreds for an unnecessary exam, adding to their bottom line, and emptying my pocket. I offered to pay for the vet's time, because I understand that they did spend a solid 4 minutes (!?) with my pet, and would have been fine paying for their eyes, they wouldn't let me pay. I tried to insist. The next morning I received an email stating that "I wasn't a good fit" for their practice...meaning what? I didn't have hundreds of dollars to drop on a stick stuck in my dog's fur? Meaning that I wouldn't let them take advantage of me? It's clear that the care of the animal is far from being the primary concern for this establishment. I was not looking for service for no fee, but when a business insists upon unnecessary procedures for their own enrichment, they should not be in business. I imagine that this is emblematic of a persistent approach with Ravenswood Animal Hospital, and I'm certainly glad I found out now, before I had an actual issue that would have invited them to charge me for even MORE unnecessary procedures.

We brought our dog Kozmo to Ravenswood Animal hospital one morning when he was lethargic and wouldn't eat. They took us right away even though they don't really do walk ins. They were incredibly kind, understanding, and upfront. We saw Dr. Marisa who showed us estimates of different treatment options and helped us decide which one would be best for our little pup. She was very reassuring with us and helped to calm our nerves since we had only recently adopted Kozmo and we were desperate to sooth his discomfort. Everyone in the office was extremely helpful and welcoming, they called multiple times to check in on him and get us set up with a follow up. Dr. Marisa patiently answered our endless questions and worked with us to calm Kozmo's separation anxiety. We've been going there ever since and we wouldn't go anywhere else. He just had his yearly check up yesterday and I was so inspired by our visit that I felt I needed to write this review praising their excellent work.

Today was our first visit for 2 of our pets. The level of care here is impeccable. I have never had a vet tech/vet give so much one on one time getting to know us. I wasn’t guilted into any extra services/preventative care. I was give all options and thorough explanation of what was suggested to do with one of my dogs teeth. (Something Marissa caught during my dogs exam.) The entire practice was VERY clean, like squeaky clean. They even had a cute little welcome board with our ifs names in the exam room, what an adorable touch! We were deeply unhappy with our previous vets cost/care/bedside manner. In fact we have bounced from vet to vet looking for a permanent home for many years and it feels like we finally found that place! This is exactly how you want to feel and be treated when spending the amount we all do on our pets care. Local businesses like this are clearly the way to go! 10/10 recommend!!!!

We LOVE Ravenswood! Folks, it all comes down to your love for your pet. Whether it is a routine visit or critical care, they are the best. I made the mistake of taking our pets to a vaccine clinic instead of Ravenswood Animal Hospital to save a bit of time(a no appt necessary type thing) and we may have saved a but of money...fast forward to 6 months later without an exam from a vet familiar with our animals and an issue went undiagnosed. There was no "I wish you would have brought him in sooner", instead there was care and compassion... and a big hug when he crossed the rainbow bridge. We weren't prepared, blindsided thanks to our decision to take them to a discount vaccine clinic. A HARD lesson to live with for us...a special thank you to Dr. Olsen and her caring and loving staff.

Dr Nikki and the entire staff at Ravenswood Animal Hospital have helped create the best vet experience ever for both my partner and I, as well as our two cats. Not only are they indescribably kind, patient, accommodating, knowledgeable, and understanding, they also have incredibly reasonable pricing. When my cat recently tore her ACL, they immediately got her in to be seen. They were also able to recommend me to a trusted, experienced surgeon for her that didn’t cost $5,000+ (which is what local estimates were). Dr. Nikki even called to check in on her during her off hours. In the 9 years of owning a pet, I’ve never had a better experience than I’ve had at Ravenswood Animal Hospital. If I could give them more than a 5 star rating I would!

When I moved to Chicago in 2018 I'd been taking my old cat Mishu here. I was always impressed with the quality and compassion by Mishu's vet Dr Marissa and the whole team. Very comprehensive care. My boy passed away from natural causes (16 yo) early January 2022 and I didn't know what to do. I called RAH who advised they can affordably cremate and when I dropped off my little boy the Dr was able to give me insight as to what happened. I know they must have had a busy busy full day and not only did they say I could drop him off whenever, but the Dr also made time to speak to me and reassure me. Everyone was so empathetic and nice. I'd send all animals here. Thank you for taking care of my boy.

We’ve been seeing Dr Marisa for 8 years and I am SO grateful to have Ravenswood and Marisa for our pets. All of the staff is incredibly kind and helpful and I always know my pets are getting the absolute best care and consideration when they are being seen there. My dogs have had so many different isssues and they are always met with plenty of options, kindness, and love. I’ve had to put down several pets due to illness and they made the experience so incredibly special despite how hard it was. I can’t thank them enough for all they’ve done. I will always trust the opinion and feedback from them because I know they have the animals best interest. Highly highly recommend!!!!

My brother and his wife were in an serious car accident along with their dog. My brother didn't make it and his wife was in the hospital. Thankfully a bystander took their dog and left their contact info with police. When we picked it up the dog she had a wound on its neck. I wanted to get it checked out. I had a hard time getting her to their vet so I tried to bring her here which is where I had brought my dog when I lived in the city. I explained my situation and they were willing to see my brothers dog later the same day. I am truly grateful for their help and consideration. It was a difficult time for my family.

Quite possibly the most compassionate veterinarian I've ever been to. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. They always do their best to ensure that your pet is seen promptly and they're always so kind to my dog when she comes in. Dr. Nikki is so knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to make sure we have the tools we need to take care of our dog. We're newer pet parents and had dozens of questions - and Dr. Nikki very graciously answered all of them, from our dog's healthcare, to diet, to training, and everything in between. I couldn't recommend Ravenswood Animal Hospital enough.

Friendly doctors and staff here. They are very understanding and work well with our skittish pup. It's generally easy to get an appointment and the 6 - 8 pm closing times during the week are much appreciated and work well with most work schedules. They are offering "curbside" services during the pandemic where they pick the dog up and drop off at your car outside. You then speak with the doctor and handle the payment over the phone from outside. This setup worked very well for us. Small, sufficient parking lot in front of facility. Definitely recommend.

Our dog has multiple chronic health issues, and the multiple vets we've worked with at Ravenswood have been really compassionate and have never pushed us into anything that wasn't unnecessary or expensive. With all her issues, our dog has seen quite a few vets in the city, but no one has been more kind and understanding than Ravenswood Animal Hospital. They're thorough, will spend lots of time explaining options on the phone, and acknowledge the stress and cost of managing a dog's longterm illness. They are also always so kind and gentle with our dog.

Honestly the best animal hospital in Chicago. Everyone is so kind and helpful and the level of care they offer your animal is out of this world. Everyone and I mean everyone makes you and your best friend feel comfortable and excited to be there. Charlie loves going to see Dr. Gianni for her checkups. She’s genuine, compassionate, and completely invested in the health and wellness of your animal companion. She has even called on her days off to check up on Charlie. She never ceases to amaze me. Dr. Gianni is truly one of a kind.

I absolutely LOVE this place! The staff at Ravenswood is so friendly and helpful. You can tell they love what they do and they really care about my pets. There is always a cute welcome sign in the exam room and they are so patient with my cats. They were so kind and understanding when I had to bring in my grumpy cat who hates being touched. I just moved out of Chicago and I'm seriously going to miss the staff at Ravenswood! If you are looking for a great vet in Chicago, I can't recommend this place enough!

Had a great experience with dr Emily. She is a new vet that joined the team and was wonderful. The entire staff were all very nice and professional. The office was inviting and spacious. The vet tech Lisa and dr Emily were great. The puppy examination was very thorough and they answered all my questions and provided great tips for the new pup. They provided a puppy kit which included his paper work and tips for the new pup. We will be going back. A great neighborhood vet hospital with ample parking.

I have an 11 year old pup. He has lived in 4 cities and states, so we've seen quite a few vets. Ravenswood Animal Hospital is absolutely the best. They take such good care of my dog, even though he's a grumpy little pest sometimes. They have never pressured me into doing anything I can not comfortable with or can't afford. They always help me come up with a plan of care for my dog that is reasonable and affordable. And they ALWAYS call and check on him after he's been sick.

I could NOT possibly recommend a vet more adamantly. Dr. Olsen is truly compassionate and has the best interest of not just her four-legged customers, but also the best interest of pets' families in mind. It says a lot about a practice when my phone rings the next day after every non-standard visit to check up on my pup. Having switched from a much larger veterinarian to Ravenswood Animal Hospital, I can definitely say that I will NEVER go anywhere else!

Dr. Olsen is amazing! She is very accessible and truly wants you to understand what is happening with your pet. She practices traditional and holistic medicine and wants to do what you feel comfortable with. I have never felt pushed for extra services and she considers financial cost, risks, and benefits when making recommendations. Decisions are made collaboratively with her expertise and your values and needs. I could not be happier with her as a vet.

I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with this hospital . From the front office staff to the techs and doctors, everyone is welcoming, friendly, and attentive. We took our two kitties here for a few years before moving out of state, and they were especially patient and skilled with handling our grumpy one. Dr. Marisa provided great care to our meows and we have yet to find a vet we like as much as her and the staff at Ravenswood Animal Hospital.

Only here to fully back Nicolle Woods' comment from a couple months ago. They're all about the $$$$. I also have an older dog, 11 years. He's starting to get the typical fatty pockets, slowing down, etc. The last couple times we've taken him all they can talk about is this or that unnecessary procedure. Sometimes even skipping right to like, a full on biopsy, before anything else less invasive is considered. Super silly. We're changing vets now.

Dr. Olsen and Wlodek are both compassionate and attentive veterinarians. I have a veterinary science degree, so I'm super particular about where my dog goes now that I no longer work in the field. The techs are friendly, welcoming and make my dog feel at ease. They give a few treatment plans to choose from, which is nice and I've never felt pressured. Holistic care is also available. We will continue to come here as long as we live in the city!

On a really sad day when my cat was heaving his last breaths, I rushed in (we hadn't ever even GONE to this vet before!) and the vets and techs at Ravenswood Animal Hospital basically got us to some privacy, figured out what was going on, provided some really stern but realistic feedback about what was coming and handled absolutely everything incredibly kindly. Just a really nice experience from animal medical professionals on a really sad day.

They took great care of my dog. Was really nervous because I was overquoted at another clinic and after taking my dog to Ravenswood they assured me the case was not as extreme and they worked with my slide scale Income. Absolutely phenomenal care and follow up. Answered all questions thoroughly and will be staying with them. Dr. Gianni is amazing. Great bedside manner and really amazing with my little guy. He loves Ravenswood animal hospital!

Our dogs love Dr. Cyndi and all the staff at Ravenswood animal hospital. There are two vets and one is also holistic in her training. Their staff is very educated and loving. The office and rooms are clean and nice. The prices are right. And Dr Cyndi volunteers her time with several shelters and educational programs to help animals. Our one Rescue disliked our last vet in Lincoln square, and had to be muzzled. Here, he is a happy, calm boy.

My vet retired & I looked on-line to find an animal hospital closer to me. I read the reviews & said my prayers to help me choose. My cat needed his yearly vaccination. Dr. Wlodek was wonderful with my cat as was the other team members. My cat is older & was suggested to do some tests because of his previous history. I liked that about her also. Plus the examination room had a Welcome sign with my cats name for his 1st visit. Sweet!!

Never actually taken my dog here, but I called with an emergency and they offered to take my dog right away. I was told that if my dog needed emergency surgery, then they would have to refer me to another vet for the surgery. Instead of preying on a scared owner to make money, the staff walked me through my options and helped me make the best choice which was take my dog to get x-rayed at a location which does emergency surgeries.

My dog is at the age when she needs people who care for her and are gentle to her little frail body. Dr. Marisa and Dr. Niki are both so attentive and thorough and gentle with my senior puppy. Jess and Ava are amazing techs who are super knowledgeable and loving to their patients. The place overall is very comforting, warm and welcoming. I recommend Ravenswood Animal Hospital for all your needs for your fur baby!

We just had our first visit after moving to the area. We were referred by a neighbor so we came in with high expectations, and I can honestly say they were exceeded. Our dog does not love going to the vet, but we had our best vet visit yet thanks to the welcoming and compassionate nature of all the staff. We look forward to working with them for our future vet needs and can't recommend them enough.

We used the Ravenswood Animal Hospital to help move our dogs from Chicago to London. There were all sorts of requirements, shots and paperwork. Dr. Cindy walked us through everything and we made it here without a hitch. The only problem now, we cannot take our dogs to see her anymore. Dr. Cindy is a great vet and we give her our highest recommendation.

We take our cat here who has diabetes and a heart murmur and feel very confident in the care we receive. We have seen both vets and they have flexible schedules, are responsive to emails/requests (we often need med refills or urgent appointments/questions due to her ongoing medical issues) and their fees are reasonable. I highly recommend!

I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Olsen. She has been seeing our pets (cats and dogs) since we moved to the area in 2016. She has worked with us through a multitude of medical conditions and issues that have arisen and also provides preventative care and holistic options to keep our pets happy and healthy for the long term.

Ravenswood has a good COVID19 protocol. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The veterinarian was thorough with my cat and worked with me in an informative and collaborative manner. And everyone liked Artemisia! The only thing I would change were it possible is to move the clinic away from the busy Montrose/California corner.
