"The area is questionable regarding safety, so I can sympathize with what the staff may encounter on a daily basis"
"I was here last week when a couple of thieves come in and started packing vodka into their backpacks"
"They have the basics but barely anything approaching premium products"
"What can you say, it's a liquor mart"
"I used to go here often, until the day they wouldn't let me in the door because I didn't have a physical copy of my ID (I had changed my wallet), even though I had a scan of the front and back of my driver's license on my phone"
The area is questionable regarding safety, so I can sympathize with what the staff may encounter on a daily basis. However, one of the 'gentlemen' who checks ID's at the front has been incredibly rude and demeaning on multiple occasions. The type of rude that is almost degrading. I shouldn't have to tell a grown man how to treat people, especially younger women. His behaviour is indicative of someone who is coping with negative life events so MBLC should look into this before he gets enough complaints and loses his job. On another note, having to wait outside of a government owned organization prior to being scanned in as a safety precaution really goes to show how our city is failing to deal with crime. When people visit from other provinces they are baffled and immediately feel like this city is a giant ghetto. Going forward, I may stick to beer vendors where the overall experience is far more dignifying and humane.
I was here last week when a couple of thieves come in and started packing vodka into their backpacks. It was scary for some customers and since they arent allowed to lay a hand on thed thieves the associates focused their attention on making sure the customers nearby were safe and out of harms way. Its sad that this happened but I just want to shout out the customer service of this place. The manager was so nice making sure everyone was feeling ok after and was a huge help when i was looking for wine. 10/10
They have the basics but barely anything approaching premium products. The Tuxedo shop is larger, quieter and usually has what you’re looking for in terms of high-end products. Getting assistance at this location is nearly impossible thanks to the staff having to constantly be watching the customers or restocking shelves. I can imagine this is one of the more disturbing locations to work at. Rather than being greeted by a smiling employee I’m greeted by an exhausted-looking contractor security guard.
What can you say, it's a liquor mart. Almost the only way to get liquor in Manitoba since it is a highly regulated industry here. The staff are decent, when not exhausted and overwhelmed. Prepare to come with change, money to hand out if you don't mind the extensive requests for "spare change" as you are lined up outside waiting to get in. Other than that, nothing much to say, it is a smaller store than most of the others so selection may not be as varied.
I used to go here often, until the day they wouldn't let me in the door because I didn't have a physical copy of my ID (I had changed my wallet), even though I had a scan of the front and back of my driver's license on my phone. I also look at least thirty so my age wasn't the issue. The reason they are asking for ID these days is because there were too many people stealing alcohol so they decided they would punish everyone rather than just the thieves.
- Rude employees who give you weird looks - Not great selection compared to other locations like the St.B one - Discounts aren't impressive either + Open till 10 unlike some other locations The only reason I go here is because it's in my area and other locations nearby aren't open till 10. There are lineups outside always with no cover in rough weather and the employees act like they're doing you a big favor by providing bad unfriendly service.
Immediately I got into the store , this guy which I think is the boss was just following me around making feel uncomfortable but I should not be feeling that way because I feel as if I was being judge base on my skin colour / my look because I am young and if I walk into a store it is because I got the money to buy what ever is in that store so pls don't follow everyone around if u got a camera inside the store already.
The manager here is despicable and a profiler against those whom they thinks are beneath themself. Who do they think they are to cast judgment on someone..a lowly worker bee manager at a local liquor mart...went far in life ...not!! This manager and location should look at themselves and realize how terrible of people they are...BOYCOTT THIS LOCATION. Only those of title and importance may act superior.
One staff member here who smokes outside constantly decided to create a scenario in her head that I was buying booze for minors outside. She wouldn't stop badgering me about it. I was alone. She takes her $11.50 an hour job very seriously. She is the Paul Blart Mall Cop of LC workers and clearly has some emotional issues.
The woman who was working today - 16 June - in the late afternoon is quite cunning. She asked me if I had an airmile card. I didn't have it with me. She, however, had HER airmile card right next to the cash register and she swiped MY points on HER card. Her actions made me question the ethics of this store.
Friendly staff, always clean and comfortable. Incredible sommelier Graham. He recommended tequila, which I don’t understand at all, but I wanted something from the mid-price segment, but tasty and of high quality. Thanks to Graham for the recommendations, we had a great evening with the drinks recommended.
Changed my previous review of always loving the service and staff here for years because I got a paper bag that appears to not have been glued all the way across and the bottle fell through right outside the store and broke. 10cents more for a second bag to scrap up the glass in ...
Staff at this location is great and helpful. Selection is better than most, though Grant Park still trumps it if you are trying to decide between them. Proximity to Safeway is a plus if you need to grab mix and snacks at the same time, don't even need to move your car.
Handy location. Friendly knowledgeable staff. It lacks some of the selection and features of the larger locations. They do periodically have taste tests so you can try out new items. The sale bin at the checkout often has random interesting gems to experiment with.
This was the first time that I ordered online for delivery. It was so easy, with delivery, and it came as confirmed the next morning within the time frame specified. The delivery person was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this store and thus service.
I go to this LC pretty often. Selection isn't super great but their staff are so lovely and helpful and always willing to lend a hand/ give recommendations. They even make an effort to check me out as fast as possible if they've noticed I'm waiting on a bus :)
Tons of pan handlers outside the entrance. People without id's are getting People with id's to buy them liquor. Saw it first hand repeatedly. People tipping the musicians with cans of beer outside the store. Not a safe and professional place
Great friendly staff, and good security. They do the best they could, with the space they have. The building is quite small though, so if you are looking for anything a little out of the mainstream you might have to go to a larger LC.
Just like any other MLCC, similar selection similar choices and tons of homeless people begging around this store. Line up gets fairly busy on weekend & evenings. Not the safer area if picking up alcohol little later in the eve.
Everything you would expect from a liquor store. Not one of the bigger stores, but they do well with what they have. Employees are always great. There can be a decent sized line sometimes, but it usually moves fast.
Staff aren’t educated on ALL kinds of Canadian ID’s. Refused to let my partner and myself in because we were using BC ID’s. Please educate your staff… This has happened a few times at this location now…
I always love coming here. The store is well designed and super clean. The staff are incredibly helpful, with one approaching and asking if you need help every 30 seconds or so. The selection is great.
The usual state run bullshit: the highest prices in the world, the worst selection, overstaffed, overpaid workers everywhere who have nothing to do. Long queues. Privatise this thing.
Typical government mediocrity. Nice staff that is basically clueless about the limited wines they hawk. If there was more privatization they would be out of business in 2 years.
Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. This is my go to liquor mart. Wish they had a bigger selection but they always have my Sailor Jerry's in stock so I can't complain!
When I walk in I am greeted by a friendly staff member that is ready & knowledgeable to what I am needing for the particular party I am hosting. This makes my job easier on me
Place is like an inside out liquor marts inside... Ie; the wines are all on the walls and the spirits are in the middle... but other than that it's the same as others...
Good product selection tho discontinuing a popular beer is never good. Molson Dry cans finally got stocked but suddenly stopped at this location. Disappointing.
Great place, helpful staff. Lots of scuzzy people hanging around out front begging for money. They require ID to enter the store and security is heavy.
Love this location just not people hanging out around the building, scary people some of them...guess they can't help it though ..I shouldn't judge
A bit crowded and you may fight to park. Selection is slightly smaller than the bigger Grant Park store. No growler bar for beer aficionados.
Great selections. Staff is always friendly and helpful. There can be line ups at certain times but they try to make it quick as they can.
Fantastic craft beer selection. I only wish they had a bigger wine selection, and growlers like the Grant Park and Kenaston locations.
Has all you need shopping near by free parking. Good neighbor hood Please no drinking and driving busy place and children in the area
the cashiers literally look down on you from the artificial pedestal they stand on. other than that, floor staff always offer help.
If you're on strike the least you could do is update your google hours. Lazy government workers. 0/10 do not deserve pay increase.
One time I partied with a guy who works here and he seemed like he didn't like to drink, so that guys life must be a living hell
After battling throughbthe surroundings you definitely make way to the best LC in the city. Super friendly and helpful staff.
the only show in town. government run monopoly. extremely overtaxed products. but their the only one slanging the hooch
It was peaceful and calm as customers come and made their purchsses for the 8 hour duration I spent from 2:00pm
They sell alcohol. Haven't seen a robbery since they out in the ID scan. Whatever. It's an LC... Go buy booze.
The store could have a better product selection. That is the only negative issue. Great staff and location
Lots of yummy beverages to be had at this location. a absolute cornucopia of wines & spirit's for all!
One of the better liquor marts in the city. Always fast and friendly service. Great selection.
Least favorite liquor mart. The outside is depressing and there should helping those folks.
A staff named Michael had no manners. He was freaking rude. Be nice and be kind please!
Fast service. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. This location didn't have Rochefort 10. :(
A pretty busy place, but probably the better stocked LC's in the downtown region.
It's pretty good to shop there for me it's close to where I live very convenient.
It's the only store that is legally allowed to sell booze. Good job free market!
These are the best peeps in town. I only go elsewhere when they're out of stock.
It's in a good location, just don't like the beggars in front always pestering.
Great place to get your spirits and wine open til 11 on busy nights i noticed
The area is crowded with panhandlers, but the store has a decent selection.
Practically the only liquor mart I go to. Always great customer service.
Best liquor store, always people bumming change or playing music outside
A large inventory of booze to choose from, and the prices are good too.
The staff are super friendly and helpful but the selection is just okay
Nicest people ever! The workers, they go above and beyond to help you,
Nice location, friendly staff. There's a bike rack near the building.
Friendly staff, great prices and usually have what I am looking for.
Good place. I've actually been coming here alot since Covid struck.
Booze what more to say they check id now but w.e its works i guess
Props on the Winnipeg only beer fridge showing off local breweries
Good selection, doesn't have everything I normally buy however.
Good service. They need more options in the beer cooler though.
Closed but sign on door says just for the day. But thats a lie.
Always helpful staff to help you find your next favorite drink.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff and a variety of products.
Often busy, usually there is good street theatre outside.
Always a wonderful experience both in selection and staff
Great selection and very friendly staff. Open late too!
Long lines, good recommendations. Liquor is Liquor.
Helpful staff and clean aisles. Quick service too!
Not too long a wait to get in and friendly staff.
Super friendly staff and lots to choose from!
Such friendly staff & so convenient location!
no Stella cans in cooler...manager is stupid
Good location but a smaller store than most.
Great selection and great curtious staff!!
Great selection, knowledgeable staff, A+!
Helpful staff but don't carry all brands.
