I was happy with the care and service provided by the veterinarian and technicians before and during my visit to the clinic. The visit was for my 20-year old, family cat, Whinny, who has kidney disease and we were there to have an HONEST conversation about whether to have her put to sleep or continue managing her symptoms. I really appreciated being able to have a frank conversation with the vet about this who consistently showed her knowledge and kindness on the best way forward. Any pet owner will understand what a DIFFICULT decision this is under any circumstances. We paid $345 for the examination, blood, and urine tests. The vet SUGGESTED we do further tests that included abdominal x-rays, bacteria culture for a possible infection in her bladder/kidneys, and a course of antibiotics, prescription food, a kidney supplement, anti-nausea medicine, subcutaneous fluids. All together adding up to an another $350+. We did not want to proceed with these additional measures before discussing with my family. Based on the everything, we decided to give the cat back to my mom in my hometown who would be able to take better care of her. What really upset me and shocked me was the follow-up phone calls from the clinic. It was not the vet -- it was another employee calling me. And she was EXTREMELY confrontational and threatening. She wanted to know if we were proceeding with the further tests and treatment and I informed her that Whinny was going to be living with my mom who would be taking over her care and related expenses. She kept asking me questions and insisting that we proceed with these additional tests and treatments which I declined. Then she told me that it was a "WELFARE CONCERN" if we did not follow their recommendations. As if we are not doing everything within reason to take care of this cat that has been in my life since I was 13-years-old! It was extremely insensitive and hurtful to be spoken to in this way. So inappropriate and unprofessional! It turned a 5/5 experience into a 1/5 experience. I will never bring my pets to this clinic again. UPDATE: The clinic ended up calling Animal Control on us because we didn't agree to proceed with additional tests and treatment plan... Which upon getting a second opinion from a vet in my hometown were determined to be excessive and unnecessary. So warning to all pet owners that you will be BULLIED and INTIMIDATED by this vet clinic if you bring your pets into their care.

BE AWARE, SOME OF THEIR VETS RUN SCAMS! Not like it's any different at any other vet, I've heard of this same experience all over Edmonton. In May 2016, I brought 2 cats to this vet. Dr Stelfox as my estimate and receipts confirm. I've been going to a variety of veterinarians here since 2011 for these same two cats, the youngest tends to get herself into trouble. The doctor examined the cats, and stated that they both had very bad gums and teeth. She told me that on my eldest cat, 7 at the time, there were multiple teeth that were rotted and decaying. She told me that BOTH cats needed extractions. I was obviously thrown completely because neither one has ever had any dental problems at all from observation. I monitored them over the next month, and they both enjoyed having their mouths rubbed although not probed too closely. They simply got annoyed and pulled away, nothing indicating hitting a rotting or painful tooth as the vet indicated. She had stated she was "surprised" they didn't attempt to bite or were very protective around the front teeth. They were not. I received an estimate for 2000+ dollars. I have no benefits or insurance for myself, and make just enough to live on. I'm not in a position to put that money down immediately and would have to save 1 year+. I can't afford a dentist for myself, let alone my cats, without serious planning. I take them back to the same vet May 2017. Dr Stelfox. I'm anxious to hear how the rot and teeth have progressed, get their boosters, etc. She takes a close look at both cats and says their teeth look "great" and is very enthusiastic about how clean their gums are. I did not prompt her to remember these were the "cats with rotted teeth", she barely seemed to glance at their files, mistaking their genders and ages and weights often. I stayed silent at this point, and she recommended loosely a teeth cleaning for the eldest as "preventative" but forgot which cat was the eldest and mistakenly went back and forth on the youngest needing a cleaning vs not. I would have had this vet extract HEALTHY teeth. Rot does not magically reverse, decaying teeth do not heal them selves, and I have not taken the cats for any dental work. She would have removed healthy teeth from my cats simply as a cash grab. She is so concerned with money that she would mutilate animals. I will be asking for a different vet next time, I do not want a sadistic animal abuser anywhere near my animals.

We visited the clinic on Friday January 22/16, and although Jennifer Stelfox has been our vet for about 14 years at various clinics, she was not in this day. So we saw Dr. Catarig, thinking if Jennifer works with this vet he must be ok. It was my brother in laws dog who we are caring for and is on medication for seizures, and at his regular clinic must be seen outside or in the back he could not make it through the front door without a seizure until being put on 2 medicines for Epilepsy . We took a chance that Tucker would be ok with treats and a much smaller clinic as we could not get to his regular clinic..Right from the girl at the front desk to the vet and Tech he was treated like their own baby. Tucker never had a seizure, or was stressed at all even after needing 2 needles in between is pads. This vet and Tech went above and beyond to care for Tucker making a very difficult situation a bit less stressful. Dr. Catarig assured us that as he would not be here to receive the results he would leave a very detailed note as to what he had done. If this clinic is ever looking for another vet Dr. Catarig would be a huge asset to this clinic.

Absolutely outstanding. Everyone from reception, to AHT, to Dr Stelfox were nothing short of incredible. They worked me in sooner than my scheduled appt as I was so worried about my boy. My sweet 7 year old Cane Corso was diagnosed unexpectedly with a large oral tumor that the only feasible treatment (aside from euthanasia) is to remove part or all of his lower jaw. Safe to say MY jaw hit the floor at the idea, and tears came. Dr Stelfox was incredibly smart, compassionate, and answered all my questions without making me feel like a burden. She even put me in touch with a client of hers who's dog had the exact same procedure a year ago to share her experience. Now I am just patiently waiting for pre op workup from the surgeon. Highly recommend this clinic!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars ETA: sadly, my sweet boy required euthanasia when the cancer returned aggressively. They were beyond compassionate and gentle, and he simply slipped away in the most peaceful way possible. I will forever be grateful to them for all their help and dedication to my sweet boy

RVVW Clinic is the absolute best vet clinic and it’s not even close. We accidentally’d ourself onto their patient list after they absorbed the old Lynwood Vet Clinic and one of the very first experiences we had was them euthanizing our 18 year old dog. After that I got a cat and came back to the clinic as it was relatively close to my home. That was six years and two houses ago and I go out of my way to come to this clinic with my cat! Dr. Stelfox is an absolutely fabulous caregiver - very diligent and open to working with you in any way she can. And the vet techs… enough good things can’t be said about the wonderful ladies that work at this clinic. Always the happiest most joyful group of young ladies in there creating a great caring atmosphere. And then there’s the PetPerks app which makes scheduling appointments and renewing rewards super easy! I could honestly go on and on. If you live in Edmonton go out of your way come to this clinic. If you live on the MOON go out of your way to come to this clinic! 11/10!

My puppy was struggling with eye issues for several months. I deceided to have a second opinion and had met Dr Toma and his staff at an evening they hosted for pet owners regarding dental health and it's effects long term on your pets health. I was impressed by the staffs knowledge and desire to be as helpful and understanding to owners and pets needs. So after having my puppy seen by our local vet I wanted to have a second opinion. I called the Lynnwood Veterinary clinic explained my situation and they were prompt to have him seen the next day. Dr Toma was very pleasant and I was impressed by his thoroughness and all the different tests he performed until he concluded that this was something that needed to be rectified by an eye specialist. I appreciated the kind friendly and helpful front staff and Dr. Tomas professional opinion. And we can finally get our puppy back to health and the issue finally solved. PLEASE READ EDIT This vet responded to my call of urgency for my dog and got an appointment in less than an hour same day. They treated my family, and I, as well as our dog with kindness and respect. They were careful with our dog, gave us valuable information as well as medication and equipment needed. The prices were reasonable and each thing was itemized for easy understanding. Thanks to the front staff, and Ellen for taking care of Coco! Edit : Seems we have to do another bloodwork on top of the one we already did. This time charging about almost 300$.. so the first one we paid almost 100$ seems to be a waste due to “errors” made by the staff. Still I do appreciate the staff of course and are hard at work all the time. Edit 2… we spent another 200$ but they still could not find the results despite the fasting. Our dog may have to go into an unnecessary ultrasound at an estimate of 1400$..

My sincere thank you to Dr Stelfox and her wonderful staff who took care of my 8 year old dog who was diagnosed with lymphoma in June of 2021. He was near death when diagnosed and was borderline stage 5. Although not an oncologist, Dr Stelfox is very skilled at treating dogs with chemotherapy. My dog never had any negative reactions to the treatments and never missed a meal. Buster ended up having an excellent quality of life while in treatment and went into remission once he started chemo. I had an ancologist give Buster a check up in the USA while visiting there and they complemented the excellent job that River Valley Vet had done with Buster. Sadly my boy passed away in April of 2023 but enjoyed 22 months of wonderful life thanks to the team at River Valley Vet. A+++

After 2 visits at the River Valley Vet Clinic, I feel compelled to write a review about how lovely the staff and vet treated both myself, my partner, and our very anxious young dog. Dr. Bilsborrow takes a behavioural approach, and I can't express how great it was to feel so comfortable with her handling our dog. She explained everything very well, and, when we couldn't get all of our dog's vaccines done in one appointment (after an hour), we saw her again a few days later, where she spent 45 minutes with us, discussing our dog, playing with her, and getting that last shot done. We are so excited to have finally found a vet that we feel we can trust and that will guide us to best provide for our dog's well-being. 5/5!

Last November 8th, 2019, I had to take my 17 year old Birman in for a last minute appointment, due to ongoing health issues with her back leg. I had never been to this clinic before although I had been to Dr. Stelfox when she worked in Spruce Grove. She discovered two masses on her neck which she said was most likely Lymphoma, which explained why she could no longer meow. I had to make the very difficult decision to let her go. Dr. Stelfox and her staff were so caring at such a difficult and sad time. I couldn’t have asked for a more compassionate veterinarian to take care of my dear Jasmine in her final moments with her loving family. Thank you to Dr. Stelfox and all the caring staff at the clinic.

Over the last few years, I have brought all 3 of my dogs here and they absolutely LOVED every person who works here. They never once were scared of going to the vet when going to River Valley. The staff are amazing to talk with and the doctors are so thorough and take the time to explain things so you fully understand what's going on with your pet. Plus, they know that your fur babies are more than just pets, so there is never any judgement with questions you have or decisions you make. They truly treat your animals as if they were their own. I HIGHLY recommend bringing your pets here if you want the best care for them. They treat you like family and are just an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Amazing!!! My puppy Oscar is so happy there! You can really tell everyone there loves animals and goes out of their way to have the best ways to make your furry family members as comfortable as possible. My aunt called me crying, having a horrible time with her vet in another city. River valley took her dog Onyx in with open arms. Her appointment was weeks sooner, a quarter of the price but most importantly, there was staff lined up to say goodbye to him. He's been so anxious to get his nails clipped ( tore apart a muzzle and destroyed a couple grooming places)and they did it for free with his vaccinations and with love. I'll never be able to say enough great things about this place.

I'm a first time dog owner, and when my poor puppers started having back pain I was so worried. Dr Stelfox and her team were so wonderful through the whole process. They answered any of my questions over the phone prior to the visit. Helping me understand the low to high end cost of any procedure that I might expect when I bring my pup in. Also going over the paybright and scratchpay programs they offered if I wasnt able to get the funds I needed in time for my appointment. Dr Stelfox ended up showing me some great stretchs to help manage my bulldogs back pain, I am so grateful for the work her and her team did to make this experience so wonderful. Thank you!

This lil gal had amazing recovery from a torn ACL. We saw Dr. Stelfox for the first time on Dec 14, 2021 when Khloe couldn't walk properly. With regular visits including physio, massage and laser at River Valley, we followed Dr. Stelfox's instructions of what to do at home. After a couple of months at this clinic, Khloe is walking and running like a champ with almost no indication of previous injury. We are beyond grateful and pleased with the care and attention received from River Valley! This team is amazing; from the front desk to every member on staff and highly recommend for their expertise, compassion, friendliness and professionalism. Truly top notch.

So I went to the vet yesterday to get my cat checked up. And the technician and vet were scared to assist my cat because he was meowing and hissing because he was in pain . I did not get a normal check up done . I was told that I wasn't going to get charged for the check up . Because she couldn't do anything . Yet was still charged a fee for a check up.They were late with our appointment and told me to come back another day . Because they didn't feel comfortable assisting my anmail. This is not the first time we have had issues with them. I will seek a new vet .The admin staff is very unprofessional.

I love this vet clinic. I live on the other side of the city and it came highly recommended to me when I adopted another cat. I was hesitant since it's not a very convenient location for me, but decided to follow through. The staff are AMAZING, friendly and helpful and make me feel confident they are doing what's best for my two cats. One of the vet techs even offered to drop off my cat's medicine in my mailbox on her way home since she knew I lived on the other side of the city! You definitely can't beat that kind of customer service. I would recommend River Valley Vet 100%.

It's my first time taking my cats to the vet but the pricing seems reasonable for the work. The staff are friendly and efficient and were able to provide all number of treatments over various visits even with Covid. I just sit in my car while I wait for them to get their shots. When I did an in person consult for the one cat that caught a cold from my new one, the vet was kind and warm and handled my cat knowledgeably. Suggested a simple treatment and a follow up if there was no change, no upsell to more expensive options like xrays. I would recommend this vet to my family

Finding a new vet after moving back from Calgary was a difficulty task, until we visited Dr Stelfox’s clinic. Being that she is the sole vet on site provides more tlc to her fuzzy patients. We were referred to her by our Chemo Specialist in Calgary as Dr Stelfox specializes and has experience with post Chemo patients. My spouse and I are extremely grateful to been introduced to this clinic. Dr Stelfox is thorough, diligent and most importantly tries to help anyway possible and is honest. You can tell she actually cares about her clients and patients. Highly rexcomednd.

We brought our little arthritic cat in last year at this time thinking that we'd either have to have her leg amputated or have her put to sleep. River Valley assessed and referred her to a specialist who said amputation was not possible. RV suggested laser, physiotherapy and later this year she tried a new experimental injection -- well we now have a new kitten! She plays like a fiend, she's singing and doing roly-poly and she's a new puss! Everyone at RV is kind, knowledgeable and they treat us like family! Thanks to everyone from the cat parents and Mango

Unprofessional. Receptionist seems clueless. Had my cats nails clipped, she was anxious and when I got her back they said everything was okay but my cat was acting weird like she was drugged up. Calling to book another appointment the receptionist said there was a note on file about my cat ring aggressive and will need to be given a medication to calm her down prior to the appointment that I will have to get from another vet that has done a physical and can prescribe it. Conflicting information and unprofessional. Will not be going back.

My dogs paw was cut very bad at the groomers so I called River Valley and gave them 10 minutes notice I needed help!! I carried my dog , with his bleeding foot, in the door there was a girl waiting for me and got me right into a room. The Vet, Dr.Pim came right into see us and said Leo needed stitches. Everyone at River Valley is so kind and the fact that they could help me on short notice was amazing! They answer the phone when you call, they don’t put you on hold for 10 minutes like some places do….. I highly recommend!!!

For the last two years, we've been taking our cat to see Dr. Stelfox at the River Valley Vet Clinic. Over the past year, our cat has developed allergies, and Dr. Stelfox has gone above and beyond to do various tests to determine how to mitigate his symptoms. It's so refreshing to have a vet who takes the time to explain everything so you walk out of the clinic knowing exactly what you need to do next. Dr. Stelfox is amazing. We have not compared pricing at all with any other vets because the service we get here is great. Takes all of our paranoid puppy parent questions in stride and all of the techs are great as well. When our puppy had an issue just before we went on vacation, Dr. Stelfox was able to reach out and find various options for us. Good COVID measures in place and a decent little retail section inside as well. Would definitely recommend to any dog parents on the west side of Edmonton.

We've had a few small issues with our pup (eating things she shouldn't, other small issues) and they have been caring and great every step of the way. They've explained everything to us and made sure we understood before we left. All the staff from top to bottom are wonderful to deal with. There was one time where our dog had eaten chocolate, and they were all prepared for us when we arrived. We would absolutely recommend this clinic to anyone looking for somewhere to take their pet.

Wonderful experience for a first visit! Unfortunately the other clinic closed down but the former clinic was able to transfer files over to the River Valley clinic. The arrangement of appointments via the PetDesk app was seemless and they booked appts back to back for my two cats. The visit was smooth and the staff was very helpful including taking the time to write down everything I need to know about my cats. They are healthy as per their assessments. Dr. Jennifer Stelfox and her team are top notch. The ladies that assist her are helpful and friendly. After assessing my dog, she determined she needed surgery to repair her knee (TPLO surgery). She gave me a list of professionals she would use, and after the surgery we’ve been doing our rehab work with her. During this pandemic she makes sure everyone is safe and still provides a level of care that exceeds my expectations. If my dog has any type of injury she’s who I will see.

My cat had several teeth removed. There was excellent communication between myself, Dr Stelfox & the vet technicians before and after and the days following the surgery. The office sending pre approvals to my insurance made the experience even less stressful as most of my bill was taken care of. I have trusted Dr Stelfox with my pets about 17 years and will continue on I do so. River Valley Vet Clinic staff take time to develop relationships and how much they care is evident.

we have been coming to Lynwood Vet Hospital for over 30 years - we started with our little Snuggy and have followed with all our pets, dogs and cats alike. Now half a dozen fur babies later, we are still coming with Lady, Tigger and Angel - the baby! The service has always been exceptional and the people care - you can tell by the way they treat you and your fur babies! thanks for all the years of service Dr. Waterman and all the subsequent vets and staff - job well done.

Dr. Stelfox is an amazing vet. Our puppy had many different health complications when he was younger and she was always very attentive, knowledgeable, and compassionate in helping him as well as us. This clinic goes above and beyond for pets under their care and takes the time to thoroughly discuss any health decisions and questions at each appointment. We highly recommend to anyone in Edmonton! I was very impressed They fit my kitty in sameday I called dispite being a holiday weekend and very busy they took good care of her then called us and explained what they found answering all our questions clearly especially my mothers who is hard of hearing and not used to cell phones. I loved that they commented on what I think to be scar tissue to be 100 percent sure I was aware of any growths since her mamory cancer tumor was removed

While Dr. Stelfox did an amazing orthopedic assessment on my dog, she solely focused on an acute injury that my dog happened to be healing from at the time of the appointment, rather than the chronic issue that caused us to be referred to this clinic in the first place. When I asked about focusing on the chronic injury, I was told "next visit". Money down the drain. There was no next visit as I didn't want to be ignored again.

We changed vets for our Lab Great Dane mix as my husband and I were not satisfied with the service provided at the previous clinic. This service at River Valley Vet Clinic is outstanding! Efficient AND thorough service. They ensure all questions are answered and were so friendly to our energetic big dog! We will be long time clients and our dog will no look forward to going to the vet! I love it at River Valley Vet Clinic!

We met with Dr. Stelfox regarding our nearly senior dog's rear leg issues. She explained everything in great detail and gave us some at-home exercises to help strengthen his muscles to ensure a better quality of life. We have started implementing the recommendations and we are looking forward to our next visit! I would highly recommend visiting River Valley Vet Wellness Clinic. Very passionate doctors and staff here. Dr Stelfox and Dr Pim have been fantastic working with us in a difficult time. They make you comfortable, provide clear and relevant information and treatment options that are appropriate for your pet and family. Our cat is under treatment here and they are understanding about quality of life metrics and working within your financial constraints for the best outcome.

I own a very large very timid street cat and finding someone to clip his nails has been difficult until I took him to lynnwood vet clinic. They were gentle with him and managed the mani/pedi with no fuss from my cat! further to this my garbage can addicted cat gave himself a VERY upset tummy. they managed to check him out without arousing any biting or hissing and he is now feeling much better

Amazing experience with this vet. Dr.Lisa Collins was very understanding with my anxious dog and built a relationship with him before beginning any vaccinations or exams. you can tell the staff here really care about their customers. Definitely recommend. finally found a vet i can stay with for a very long time. Very happy with their customer service definitely recommend this vet.

My dod Bindi started vomitting and threw up a rock. She settled down but I wanted to be sure there wasn't anything left. My vet was unable to take me in on that day so I thought of calling River Valley veterinary Wellness Clinic as I used them for my other dog who was having issues. They were able to fit us in and examined her and did an Xray. I was so grateful .Thank you.

My dog always makes herself at home at the vet's. Everyone remembers her name and they love to pet her and play with her. Dr. Stelfox went out of her way with Molly's appointments and even called when my Dad took my dog for a problem with her eyes. He's not the best with relying what any medical personnel tell him. So Dr. Stelfox called me to explain everything in detail.

As always, this place is probably one of the best vet clinics I've ever been to. They take great care of my boy when I need to being him in and keep the costs to a minimum. When my partner and I moved, one of the factors to where we moved was how close we were to RVVW Clinic. I am grateful for this place and will recommend it to everyone, even if it is out of their way.

River Valley was able to squeeze in my dog on a very busy Saturday and the treatment she received was excellent. They called twice to update me on her condition. Her vet was very thorough, not only treating the symptoms but finding an underlying cause. Her nurse took great care of her, explained everything to me and demonstrated how to administer the medications.

I bought a new puppy, 6 months old, who had significant anxiety issues. The vet (Dr. Glasier) spent an enormous amount of time getting to know my puppy, slowly gaining her trust and gave very sound advice. Dr. Glasier answered all my questions, and made sure that I understood exactly what she was doing and why. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this vet clinic

We have been coming to this vet for almost ten years. The staff have always been pleasant but we especially like the current vet, Dr. Stelfox. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and doesn't push things on you that aren't needed. I would say they are middle of the road in terms of pricing. Their space is newly renovated, I highly recommend.

They took my sick kitten in on the day that I called, the front desk lady was super nice and made me feel comfortable, she said they always want to help animals in need. the vet was also super nice, explained everything very well. I felt comfortable leaving my cat with him. It was a wonderful experience and I will defiantly be coming back.

The girls that work here are amazing! Been coming here for about one and a half years and every time they treat my kitties so wonderfully! Very gentle, kind, and patient. Brianna even came in 30min early so I could drop my kitty off before heading to work. If you want a vet that really cares about your pet, this is the place to go!

I had a great experience with all the staff I encountered! I love the atmosphere and the knowledge of the staff. I felt very comfortable bringing my pup to the vet for the first time. This will definitely be his regular vet from now on! Charlie and I both loved everyone and felt very welcomed!

The staff is very friendly and was very understanding to my situation. I brought my cat in with a big bump on his lower lip and was up front about not having any money. Not only did management understand but they allowed the nurses to check to make sure my cat was okay for free

We bring our dogs to see Dr. Stelfox for rehabilitation. She and her team work hard to help us keep our dogs moving. They do rehab in the clinic but she also teaches us what to do at home to augment the treatment. A wonderful place and well priced. I refer all my friends here.

Reception and tech girls are top notch, and Dr. Stelfox is amazing! We trust her with our fur baby 1000%. She is honest and knowledgeable and clearly loves animals. She also goes above and beyond to make sure your animal is in great health. Can't say enough about her.

Our neighbourhood vet recently closed and we needed to find a new clinic. After many recommendations to River Valley Vet we recently had our first appointment with Dr. Stelfox. She is wonderful and I am so happy that they were accepting new patients. Highly recommend!

Dr. Pala and team were excellent. Our cat had day surgery and we were informed of his progress through the entire process. You can tell that the staff truly care. They walk you through all billing charges, as well as after care. Thank you to the staff there!

Although River Valley wasn't my regular Vet, they were very accommodating and understanding for a last minute Saturday afternoon appointment. They looked after my little Chihuahua and made me feel completely at ease. Very good care...

I had a appointment with them today for my cat. A lot of the vets called in "sick" which resulted in me not getting my appointment which is fine. But NO ONE called to tell me today! I will NOT be going back. they have zero respect!

Staff was great with our cat for a short notice appointment. He got everything taken care of quickly, they explained the treatment very well, I got all my medication, and paid much less than I expected to. I couldn't be happier.

I brought our dog here for his vaccination. The staff was mostly friendly, but the vet had a much harder time administering the vaccination than our normal place. Would come back again if needed.

Amazing and thorough vet. Dr. Stelfox was very attentive to Abby’s issues and was able to isolate the issues and provide a plan for her recovery. I e felt very welcomed by the staff.

The staff is great with Bowie and are super friendly. It was a good experience even though Bowie had to receive injections. Bowie is a shy kitty but likes visiting the vet office.

Dr Stelfox is the most amazing, professional vet that have ever used. And I had 2 bulldogs for 12 years. I saw a lot of vets before her,but none after. You won't be disappointed

Vet office thinks that their special cat food will cure my cat when a different office could prescribe a medication that will be more of a quick fix....
