Do yourself a favor and read the one star reviews for this place. They’re spot on and I wish I’d read them. 1. Prices here are absurd (coming from someone who was a vet receptionist at a different hospital further north in nyc). For a regular exam, $130. I just came less than three weeks ago for two vaccines - each one about 80$, and a few weeks prior I had my first visit here with an exam, bloodwork, and one lump checked - $450. Highest prices I have ever seen and they don’t warn you prior. Then my real issue with this place: At my latest visit today I was told about their “partial exam” I’ve never heard this term before but essentially from what I was told lets say you come in for a vaccine, don’t expect to be able to even speak to the doctor let alone ask them questions about your pet regardless of whether they’re the one giving the vaccines you’re there for… unless you want the $98 charge of the partial exam. While this makes sense in a revenue focused world I’ve never had a vet charge or say this. An exam is meant to be a full analysis of your pet from looking at their eyes to ears etc. You should be able to speak to your vet about your dog at any visit. With my past vet offices, even when my dog was coming in for a tech visit like a nail trim, my vet would stop by and ask for progress/updates on my 11 year old dog. At this visit, my dog had been playing outside a few days prior and started limping, i had a feeling the paw beds were irritated from the cold because she stopped limping when food or excitement appeared lol so didn’t think anything too severe but it would have been helpful for the doctor to take a look and say “yeah they look irritated or “probs normal”. I also came in for my dog’s third vaccine (almost $90) and asked the vet, Dr Eve, if she wouldn’t mind taking a look at the paw without charging a full exam fee. I said no worries if not but I don’t want a full exam or anything just for you to literally view the paw pad. She said she would not even take a nano-second look at the paw without charging $98 for what she said this would be considered as - the partial exam. I said no worries, let’s just do the vaccine. One last example: I came in with my dog for her two vaccines, saw the same doctor as the above example but this was from the two weeks ago so the visit prior had been with a different doctor that had completed a full exam of my dog. I gave this doctor (Dr Eve) the rundown of why we came as soon as she came in (I’m used to wanting to save time, get to the point, but my tone was calm and I definitely was not saying anything in a negative or non optimistic way - I said I’m here for the lyme, lepto, and influenza vaccines and I know we can only do two at one time so I’d prefer to do ___ two first but want to get your thoughts word for word. The doctor responded in a really hostile tone: “okayyy so I’m dr Eve Indiviglio”. I just don’t think that was necessary tbh the tone was kind of mean. She kept having an attitude and I just had to deal with it while comforting my 11 year old dog who hates the vet as it is. Then she came back into the room with the tech to do the vaccines and I’m assuming she was saying something to the tech or the tech was having just as bad a day because 1. I thought I heard her say something rude outside the room but I’m not sure and 2. this tech was very obviously cold to me. The thing is, I’m an old woman!!! I don’t have time for this, it just felt mean!!! And by making me feel uncomfortable, my dog feeds off of my energy and was more nervous as a result. I recommend if you really have to go here to go on Fridays/Saturdays with Cavanaugh, he’s no drama but you will have to deal with the same prices. Stay away from Eve Indiviglio for your own mental sanity (unless you want to be a part of a real life mean girls episode). It’s not solely about the cost and truly my worst experiences have only been with Eve from the care side but the front desk ignores you and the tools used and office are quite outdated considering their prices.

Super nice! My dog is leash reactive so they planned for her to come in a second entrance so she wouldn't have to deal with other dogs. The staff at reception are very helpful and professional. The vet is fantastic. She examined my dog, came out and we had a good discussion of everything from diet and food, skin allergies, spaying, weight. She went back in for more examination time and when we had finished we felt really comfortable with the vet and the entire practice. To top it off - my dog LOVES the place, all those smells! This practice is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. [Update March 2022] Our dog tore her dew claw almost off her paw and our regular vet was off today. The clinic was great, we got there as soon as they opened, they saw her in between their booked patients and sorted her out. They're kind with animals and professional. My high recommendation still stands! [Update May 2022] Time for our dogs yearly shots and check up. She loves coming here because the vet, the assistants and the staff are all fantastic. She no longer needs to use the second entrance as she's well behaved. Great experience and we rely on Dr K to keep our dog in peak physical condition. [Update Sept 2022] Our dog loves coming here! A quick check up and travel documents. Fast visit, almost no waiting and Dr K is our dog's best friend.

The veterinarian Dr. Marissa Sue and vet techs were phenomenal in their care and compassion for my dog when she was having an odd and frightening reaction to an infection. I absolutely loved the process and results I got from them until I had received my bill for my dogs medication. For an easily accessible medication I was charged 5x the price which turned what should have been a $30 bill into over $100 just for medication. I had called them and was treated very respectfully by a vet tech that was handling calls, but never received a response from whoever is in charge with managing payments to discuss this. After paying more than average for in-house tests and a premium on bringing a new pet into the clinic it is obscene to further milk more money out of easily accessible medications that have a lengthy shelf life. I’m greatly disappointed at those in administration because the work being done by those seeing your pet is absolutely amazing. I would hope that admin would assign their finance and payment department to match the same quality, care, and transparency as those on the floor doing the best for your pet.

I had a relatively unpleasant experience at Rivergate and I want to share. Full disclaimer, my experience has not been all bad as there had been some positive experience before this visit, so goes the two stars. For this visit, my dog accidentally ingested 30mg of ibuprofen. The two vets at the clinic gave completely different diagnose to my dog, with one on the first day saying that my dog is totally fine, while the next day for a recheck, the other doctor said the dog is dying and needed to be sent to ER immediately at another vet cuz Rivergate does not open on Sundays. We rushed to another vet but was told that our dog is relatively stable, without any immediate danger. We had to have our dog hospitalized and pay for the confusing advice given by the two doctors here at Rivergate. We had a bill of over 3,000, which could have been avoided had either one of the doctors diagnosed correctly. Anyhow, my dog is doing fine now and that is what I care about, but I am never going to Rivergate, ever again.

This has to be one of the best Vet clinics anyone could go to. Dr. Kross and the team are just wonderful. They are so caring, knowledgeable and love what they do. The clinic is very clean and organized, appointments are seen in a timely manner and the reception is welcoming as well as accommodating. I consider it lucky I was able to find Rivergate when Harry my English Bulldog needed to begin his regular vet care. I have been with them for three years now, as old as Harry is. I moved to Westchester about two years ago and tried other vets close to me, but they were not that great, so we came back to Rivergate despite the distance because I know Harry is getting the best care. It is worth it. I would also like to add that through the Covid pandemic their procedures for keeping visitors safe and maintaining social distancing did not make appointments an inconvenience at all. I recommend them highly.

My experience has been mixed. The doctors we had interactions with were all caring and nice. However the waiting room is very small and there's no waiting area for cats so this isn't really a cat friendly environment. Compared to our cat-only vet back in another city, now it's really stressful for our cats. Really hope they could have a larger waiting room or a cat-only waiting area. A second thing is the reception staffs, both of our cats are on prescription diets. But the staff didn't check which cat should have which food so when we need to buy food for both, they just made the food lists under one cat's name and the attitude when we raised that the two foods are for the two respectively was bad and we just didn't bother to have her redo the billing, and this is problematic for claims. The cat vet staff we had before was very responsible would do for each cat without reminding.

Based on my experiences I believe this is the very best veterinary practice in NY. We have been bringing our dogs here for over 18 years and everyone who works at this clinic is terrific. While I would highly recommend any of the veterinary doctors at this practice, Dr. Marissa Sue is the vet who has treated our Golden Retrievers for over 14 years. Dr. Sue is exceptional in every way possible. In fact, if I was able to design the perfect person to provide veterinary care to my pet and also give me expert pet health advice, it would be Dr. Sue. It is also important to note that this clinic is staffed with truly exceptional people (like Leo, Alex and June) who are long term employees and will treat you and your pet in the most competent, caring, honest and respectful manner possible. Taking my fur baby to Rivergate gives me complete peace of mind about my girl's medical care!

I found Rivergate because I was looking for a veterinarian who specialized in internal medicine, and someone recommended Dr. Cavanagh — and I’m so glad they did! Dr. Cavanagh is so personable and kind and he treats my cat with gentleness and care. I have taken my cat to many veterinarians in the city, and have been sold so many additional, expensive procedures that weren’t necessary (and then was made to feel bad when I declined them). Not once has Rivergate tried to sell me something I don’t need — in fact, when I brought results and recommendations in from another vet, Dr. Cavanagh carefully reviewed them and suggested another course of action, which led to my cat being healthier than he has been in years, maintaining a healthy weight, with a thyroid issue under control. I’m so grateful for the care Dr. Cavanagh and Rivergate provide!

My dog lola is a yorkie and she had bad dental issues. I had to take her to the emergency room two in two years for a abscess on her gums that cause her face to be red and looks like blood on her fur. I called her regular vet to schedule a dental procedure to fix the problem but the appointment was a month from now. Blue pearl recommended me to this vet because there was also book. As a dog mom I have bad anxiety when it comes to Lola so I wanted the best care and RVC gave me that comfort. Dr Sue was patient and amazing with me and my baby and she took get care of her. I appreciate all the staff and I would recommend anyone who is Amal like me with there pet to come here. I never write reviews but this one is from the heart

We brought Lincoln to see Dr. Cavanagh after a disappointing vet visit with another place and we are so happy with this decision! Lincoln was just so calm and well-behaved in Dr. Cavanagh’s presence and he went along with all sorts of checkup (which he usually doesn’t enjoy when we try that at home) so well! Dr. Cavanagh is very knowledgeable, caring, and detail-oriented. He made sure to answer all our questions before we left and he gave good advice on how to do routine care for Lincoln. His team also took care of trimming Lincoln’s nails without additional charge! In comparison, our last vet visit was simply a disappointment. We will never go back to that place and Rivergate will be our go-to in the future.

I’ve lived in NyC for 45 years . When I got my first dog a trainer insisted I see Peter Kross at Rivergate. Three vets in lower manhattan’s circuit had already misdiagnosed my Terrier mix. My first visit to Dr Kross was a lasting relationship. I have since had 7 dogs over the years and he had seen them all through everything. He is the best. I still commute in with my dogs from out of town as I finally moved from the city. He had even consulted and helped solve issues with my husbands dog in Flagstaff. His entire operation is professional and caring. They follow up - they follow through. This is the real deal and it simply does not get better that Peter Kross as a Vet and as a person.

I love this clinic!!!! All the staff including the doctors are wonderful. On both our visits we visited two different doctors and they were both good. They even cleaned my pup's ears and cut his nails while we went for a vaccination shot. For dog owners, they understand, this service would have cost us extra money outside. And they are very punctual with their appointments. If you go to the office earlier than your appointment, they might even see you earlier. I mean where do you get that kind of preference!!! The doctors are very patient in explaining everything to you. I would absolutely recommend this place! I am never taking my pup anywhere else. Keep at it Rivergate!

I am so grateful for the excellent care my cat, Sweetie, received on our recent visit. I am a Rivergate client for 30+ years, and I have nothing but the highest praise for this veterinary practice. The entire staff, from the front office, to the technicians, to the vets is warm and helpful and it says a lot that many of them have been there for so many years. Dr. Kaminski is a true gem. She is a gifted clinician with immense compassion. Importantly, she explains everything patiently and thoroughly so that you are always knowledgeable about the course of treatment before, during and after. I feel assured knowing that my cat couldn’t be in better hands!

Dr. Eve Indiviglio is an outstanding vet and our little Gianni as well as our family adores her. She is extremely knowledgeable, meticulous about details and kind. She is genuinely concerned about her patients and explains everything. Dr. Eve neutered our Gianni and he came home with a tiny incision which was very clean and there were no complications. The amazing thing is that Dr. Eve called the next day to check on him and address any concerns I might have had. I highly recommend Dr. Eve Indiviglio and Rivergate Veterinary Clinic for all of your pet’s needs. Thank you Dr. Eve and all the staff at Rivergate for taking such great care of my Gianni!

I’ve been bringing my animals to Rivergate to see Dr. Peter Kross for over 20 years. There is no vet I trust the way I trust Peter Kross. He’s easy to talk to, listens and addresses my concerns and, with his years of experience, can assess the situation calmly and knowledgeably. He’s conservative in his approach, which I appreciate. The staff is great, many of whom have been with Rivergate for years. I love his techs and the front desk people are kind and helpful. You will always get a call back if you need to speak to someone or need lab results. They are top-notch and professional, as are the other vets in the practice.

When I got my first puppy, I asked all kinds of people - friends and strangers on the street - who they would recommend, and many recommended Dr. Peter Kross. Dr. took care of my mini Doxie for 15 years and when the time came, he was gentle and caring enabling me to make the decision on the spot. I’ve been a client at Rivergate veterinary clinic for about 18 years. I love this practice. All the staff — the front desk, the vet techs and the vets are welcoming and caring. They all do their best to make sure you and your animal friend are comfortable and well taken care of. I’ve been the guardian for many animals over many years and Peter Kross is one of the best vets I’ve ever known. I trust him 100% with my animals. He’s kind, professional and very smart. He also knows how to calm me down when I’m crazy with worry!

Peter Kross has been my primary veterinarian since he came into our neighborhood - I think sometime in the 80's. Prince is my 4th dog with him. Every one of my dogs loved him, even Amanda, an abused adoption. He and his staff are always kind, caring and gentle with me and my dogs. They are always responsive. At those times when my precious dogs were dying they shared my grief. And, when I got a new puppy they shared my joy. I am so happy to have Peter and his staff as my partners in the health and well being of my dogs.

We have been going to Dr Kross at Rivergate for years. He is now treating our third dog. We trust him and appreciate the way we discuss matters. It is never a lecture or action without consulting us. Our older dog received laser treatment for months and Pete annd the other techs were wonderful with him. We won’t go anywhere else. Still going and I trust Dr Kross with my pups; he is the best. The techs are competent and friendly and everyone at the front desk is on the ball. So glad to have them

My dog has received top-notch care from the veterinarians and staff at Rivergate Vet Clinic. Started off with Dr. Cross, but now usually see Dr. Kaminsky. Once on a weekend I saw Dr. Kavanaugh (no relation LOL). All of them were professional and clearly cared for my dog, as well as the other animals and owners with whom I saw them interact. Also, the front desk staff is friendly and welcoming. Never had a problem with billing, receiving statements or records of vaccinations. Always prompt.

I had to find a vet that did oral surgeries since my regular place does not and in a hurry. Dr. Kaminski took extra special care of my pup and made all of my worries about my little Chihuahua going under anesthesia melt away. I made my appointment and scheduled her tooth extraction within three days of calling for information. The clinic is fast, efficient, and everyone there was caring and professional. I will definitely be bringing my baby back for all of her needs. Thank you!

An absolutely great veterinary practice. All the employees are extremely helpful and professional. There is absolutely no hard sell on anything and common sense is used. I trust them 100% as my dog pulls to get into the reception area, the employees remember their patients/clients. It took me time to find this vet and they do not treat their clients as cash cows trying to make more money from them, all diagnosis is professional discussed and a way forward is agreed.

I literally find myself talking to people with dogs and referring them to the most Honest Vets I EVER met. I explain what they did for my Lucy and how they never try to over price you with extras that are not needed. They are the only people I trust with my Fur Baby = ) Dr Kaminsky and Dr Cross are the best in their profession for sure! If you have a sick furry friend or just need a yearly check up, Rivergate is the place I trust with all my heart.

Everyone in my apartment building is a client…..dogs/cats etc. In Manhattan it is reassuring to have a neighborhood vet who is always there for you and your animals. Petunia had the regular annual checkup Tuesday & on Wed Dr Sue called with blood etc results.Good news! A few years ago my rescue cat Boo from Long Island—was sick & no one could solve it. I moved back to NYC & the team at Rivergate diagnosed this rare condition &…….Boo is fine!

Hands down BEST VET PRACTICE IN MANHATTAN!!! Dr. Kross is my 3rd and last vet with my current dog, Sofie. I have been a customer at numerous veterinary practices over that last 28 years and have finally found my forever vet and practice. Leo is an amazing asset to this clinic along with the rest of the staff. My exhaustive extensive search is finally over. Beyond 5 stars!!!!!!! You couldn't pay me a million dollars to go anywhere else!!!!!!!

I've been going to RVC for the last 6 years. From the first visit I was treated with total respect courteousness and I love the way they took care of my big guy Shiquell. So it was the only decision when I got my little guy Mellow I took him there as well. I've talked about this clinic so much that now. My sister takes her cat there, too. All the doctors there are so great. And I would definitely recommend RVC To my friends as well.

Dr Kavanaugh is so great with our fierce little Maia who is fear aggressive, particularly with men. He came out right away to get her appt over with, handles her with confidence and compassion, and got us on our way fast without sacrificing care, attention and time to answer questions. Dr. Kaminski has also been great with Maia too. Thank you all at Rivergate for making her vet experiences safe and a little less stressful!

Miracle is always happy to visit with Dr. Kross. The staff at Rivergate is friendly, pet-caring and professional. We're lucky to be in their care. In 2023, I echo my review of a year ago. We’ve been clients of Rivergate for many years. Our beloved dachshund AMO loves Dr Kross and before him Louie was a patient for 12 years. We trust Dr. Kross implicitly and also want to give a shout out to Dr Kaminsky as well as the desk staff headed by June. This is the place if you truly love your dog. Because unlike so many veterinarians, Dr Kross loves dogs.

Dr. Kross is one of the best veterinarians in NYC. He has helped guide us as first time dog owners with extreme patience and kindness. We don't live that close by but he is absolutely worth the trek. Dr. Kross really makes you feel that he cares about your pet's wellbeing and that it is not just a business. All of staff at Rivergate Veterinary Clinic are incredibly courteous, efficient, and helpful.

In all my years as an owner of multiple pets and having cycled through multiple vets, Rivergate Veterinary Clinic is the best. Courteous attentive service, lovely personnel from A to Z. Dr. Peter Kross is our vet and he is excellent. All the other vets there are equally competent and friendly. And you never feel like you are being led to expensive procedures without explanations or options.

Been taking my now 14 year old dog to Rivergate since he was 1 years old. Always taking the time to understand his needs, my goals for raising him and carefully looking out what’s best for him. I feel so fortunate he is in the hands of Dr. Sue and the other doctors over the years. The office staff is always so prompt and supportive. We couldn’t be happier with all of the doctors at Rivergate. We’re always seen on time for our appointment & our regular vet is Dr. Kaminski. She’s been extremely helpful answering all questions and you watch all of the pets in the waiting room light up when they see her. Every doctor & staff member here is caring and works with each other to make sure you receive the best possible care.

I have only ever trusted this practice for all my pets since 1990! I adore Dr Peter Kross and trust him with my own life but alas he only treats animals ;) he is an excellent vet, and the voice of calm and reason; Dr Kaminski is so caring and compassionate. The entire staff here including the front desk is professional and they care about your pet and your family.

Rivergate is the best in the Murray Hill area. I went there for years for my 14 year old yorkie. Dr Frances Kaminiski is compassionate and makes going to the vet so comfortable. Her love for the fur babies shows. I just brought my new shih tzu puppy yesterday. Put us at complete ease. I'm so blessed that she will be my vet. The staff is wonderful and thorough.

Rivergate is the best...! We have 2 small breed dogs who are happy, healthy, and active. Has a lot to do with Dr. Peter Kross who leads the charge and sets the tone of the office. All the DVM's have patience, and take good care to explain issues, conditions, and therapies that scale from small to large. Your 4-leged fur babies are in the best hands...!

We LOVE Rivergate! We are so lucky that our dog was a patient of Dr. Kross's. He takes the time to sit down with you, ask you thoughtful questions, and really cares about the wellbeing of your pup. The other doctors in the practice were equally as lovely. We recently moved to LA and wished Rivergate had a West Coast office :)

The Rivergate staff and Dr. Kross are absolutely the best. Caring and attentive to both your pet’s and your needs. A great deal of time is taken with each pet patient and his / her human so that all questions are answered - leaving no uncertainties. I would not go anywhere else. As a first time puppy owner, I have nothing but amazing words to say about Rivergate. I saw Dr. Frances Kaminski, who was super caring, and so thorough with my puppies first visit. They are very knowledgeable, caring, professional, reliable and kind. Dr. Peter Cross is by far my favorite vet and all my dogs love him and greet him with kisses.

Rivergate is by far the best Veterinary Clinic I've been to. I have two cats 8yrs+) and a puppy and I've never received the quality attention that this office provides. I absolutely recommend them to anyone who is a new pet owner or to anyone who wants above average care for their beloved pets.

Have seen several of the vets here with my dog for well visits, med visits, and dental/tooth extraction. The vets are great and the pricing is very reasonable. I’ve moved uptown but after trying another vet office I have decided it’s worth making the trek down to Murray Hill in the future.

I absolutely LOVE Rivergate Veterinary!! All the Doctors are compassionate and loving with my babies and me!! The staff is also incredible. They are all warm, sweet and very qualified. I have been with Rivergate at least 20 years and I will stay with them as long as I have pets!!!
