Vet Yes, Grooming No. Rockaway Beach Veterinary services is a full blown vet services. They have two doctors, pharmacy to fill prescriptions, food, medical services, lab testing, radiology, surgery and grooming. While the vet services are awesome, I strongly would not recommend grooming at this place at all. Please understand that opinions are biased. What is beautiful to me may not be beautiful to others. However, attitude and responding to customer requests can be universally understood. For example, if you told your groomer "don't cut my dog's tail I want it to remain long" --you as the groomer should honor that. This is not the case here. We have a beautiful 9 month old Mini Golden Doodle (see picture) that my wife brought in for grooming. Her instructions were precise and clear(and written down) -- 1. Not to cut the ears, 2. Not to cut the tail, 3. Not to cut the fur too short. OK, my wife was informed by the groomer that number three was not possible because our dog's fur was too matted/tangled. My wife and I have an expensive grooming kit at home. We also have a comb with a blade attachment to remove and cut tangled hair. So it is doable, we were just lazy. Nevertheless, reluctantly my wife agreed to the groomer cutting the coat short, but she did not agree to cutting the tail or ears at all. When we picked up the dog we were shocked. Her ears were cut which was totally against my wife's written instructions. To top it off, her left ear hair was cut so badly it left circular groove on the fur of that ear. From behind the lopsided cut was clear. From the front it was clear that her two ears were cut unevenly. My dog also had a bloody nick on the left side of her neck. When asked why her ears were cut, she said they were matted. When asked why the tail was cut which was not tangled/matted, my wife was answered with a shrug. What was really bad was when these issues were addressed to the doctor, the response was less than apologetic. First of all, not following a customer's instructions shows that you don't care and will do whatever you want. Not good. Second, when a customer is upset, the easiest way to repair the relation is to offer some peace offering. Perhaps an offer of credit to our account or even a full refund. Not only were we not offered any type of compensation for not following our written instruction, we were not even offered an apology. Originally, my wife and I agreed that if they showed good faith, we would use the grooming services again and we would continue to use the vet services. But after a non-challant and uncaring attitude, we decided we won't use any of their services. We were offered nothing, not even an apology. For this, they've lost a customer.

My introduction to RBVH sadly started with my attempt to evaluate what was wrong with my cat. I 200% appreciated that they could determine what the issue was but if anything further was being considered, I needed to go to the place in Forest Hills. I did in fact go there but had to say my goodbyes to Jinx. I always appreciated Dr.Sarter’s honesty and care. A few weeks later I just went straight to Forest Hills with Troy knowing he was ready and because of Dr. Sarner’s previous advice. A few weeks after that, I was in Italy about to step on the ramp of our ship when I received a call from my very good friends Lisa & Connie advising me that Sugar, my 16yo cat (aka Benjamin Button) was not doing well. The doctor would not proceed without speaking to me so Dr. Hollander explained the situation and with a very heavy heart but total trust in my friend, I had to let her go from a long way off. Dr H was courteous, professional and understanding. So now down to Troy, my 17yo last man standing is seen by Dr. Weinstock. Aside from her professionalism, manners and understanding patient AND owner issues, I think he feels her care & connection. I look forward to one day meeting Dr. Ruggiero so I can thank her & Hollander for maintaining a staff that always seems upbeat and happy to see their patients and I like to believe Troy is one of them. No question asked…if you need one, this is where to go. Your animal with thank you! By the way, my cats’ treatment was/is not gauged by doctors only, that front staff is on point on every way. I was with my previous Vet for over a decade. I had two emergencies this year: (1) my cat was dragging her leg and not eating in Feb 2023, and (2) my dog was peeing blood in May 2023. When the receptionist from my previous Vet answered the phone, she asked, 'Is this an emergency?' My response was 'yes.' Both times, the receptionist at my now-previous Vet told me they could only see them the following week. They advised me to go to the emergency vet, which we know will cost triple. I asked, "Then, why did you ask if it was an emergency if you could not see us?" She replied, "So I could put you on hold if it wasn't an emergency." What? I found Rockaway Beach Vet Svcs online. They had an appointment for the following day. I told the Rockaway Beach Vet Svcs receptionist that my dog was peeing blood. She gave me an appointment for that day. I was asked if my dog was okay. Showed that she cared. My dog was not a current patient. We were not with them for decades. They showed they cared. Empathy is everything! I loved the doctor who saw us. They followed up the next day to give us the results, to ask if my dog was okay, and to give us some post-care advice. Long story short. I left my Vet and am now staying with Rockaway Beach Vet as my fur baby doctor. They care! The office staff is friendly. The nurses are excellent. The doctors are nice. I'm staying :-)

I rarely leave reviews on Google, but I think so highly of this Vet, I would give 6 stars if I could. The doctors, nurses and staff are all incredible - they are patient, compassionate and attentive. Dr. Weinstock has been AMAZING to me and my sweet girl, Jules and I can’t thank her enough. She has been so attentive that she has taken the time to call me on multiple occasions to calm my nerves about an upcoming surgery. She treats my dog with the same care that she would for her own, and it makes me feel safe when dealing with health scares. The nurses have all been incredibly caring and empathetic and have made my girl feel comfortable and excited to be there. They have always been in a good mood, so the facility really seems like a place that values their employees - and this translates to how they treat their clients. I haven’t felt rushed while at Rockaway Beach Vet and truly feel like the staff care about me, my dog and her well being. The front desk staff have been professional, kind and helpful. The facility is clean, welcoming and well decorated - you don’t feel like you’re in a stuffy doctors office, but rather a place where people really care about animals. I could go on!

Got a new puppy and needed vaccines but didn't want to schlep all the way to the breeder's recommended one. We've been in this area for less than a year but wanted to stay local. I rarely leave 5 stars but this Veterinarian establishment deserves 6 stars. Reception area is clean, people accepting patients are friendly, efficient. The wait was short. Our puppy was weighed, looked over, took temp, etc. The Assistant was super nice, professional, and our puppy didn't feel uncomfortable at all around her. She was super knowledgeable, and explained everything and answered every question I had. Veterinarian was efficient, gentle, explained everything we needed to know. Super nice and the puppy loved her (the timing of the treat by the assistant and the shot was perfection as the puppy didn't feel a thing). Bottom line is that I've had dogs and cats all my life and this was by far the best, most efficient, friendly, professional, knowledgeable Veterinarian service I've ever had. And that says a lot.

So happy this business exists where it does! I could not have dreamed up a better Veterinary service to have so close to my house. Every single person who works here is kind, caring, and lovable. And for NYC, you know that is RARE. The Dr. that I have taken Charlie to see there is patient, takes her time, listens, and clearly loves our pets. The groomers who work there do fantastic work and treat your furry baby like their own. Best of all, this office creates an atmosphere of trust, and what could be more important than that when you need help with your loving little critters? Have you ever had that experience where your pet figures out that you are taking them to the vet, and they get very unhappy? Yeah, me too. However, Charlie loves this place. When he figures out that is where we are headed, he gets more happy! And he leaves happy, too. So, if you need a vet out at Rockaway .... Go here!!!! Took my cat here over a year ago but the experience was so bad in comparison to the more recent experiences I have had at other clinics that I had to come back and share my experience. When I took her in, I wasn't allowed inside with her, and she was returned to me so rattled and upset. The vet tech told me they had a hard time with her. The vets at other clinics (who I was able to observe) took the time to soothe her and she was very calm and well behaved, which leads me to believe that these people did not even do the baseline humane action of soothing a scared animal before trying to examine them. They also immediately jumped to cancer based on benign bloodwork results and recommended more (very expensive) testing, but neither of the two clinics I took her to said that this was necessary. All in all, I felt that they mistreated my cat and were fearmongering and trying to milk me for more money for unnecessary tests.

I do not recommend this Veterian Clinic if you have a dog with a chronic medical condition. My dog was diagnosed with bladder stones in July. There was absolutely zero follow up care or concern from the Vets here. I literally had to go online and YouTube to learn about my dogs condition. Last week my dog stopped urinating due to stones blocking his ureatha. I was terrified and called to speak to a Vet. I ended up speaking to an inarticulate receptionist that behaved like I was a bother and there was an absolute lack of professionalism. I requested to speak to a Vet and not even 1 would talk to me on the phone. I rushed my dog to The ER Vet 2220 Flatbush Avenue Brooklyn NY 11234 and my dog received EXCELLENT care and treatment. He is now bladder stone free and on the mends from surgery. The ER even referred me to a Better Vet that has compassion.

Dr. Ruggiero is absolutely amazing. You are greeted by a friendly and outgoing staff. As soon as Dr. Ruggiero walks in the room you barely have a chance to greet her because she's on the floor with the dog making your pet at ease. She was right in his face and that was immediately after being biten in the face by her previous client.(dog that is). My dog needed some pretty serious surgery. She told me exactly what to expect both medically and financially. She was on point for his after care and needed to see him so that she felt secure in his recovery. For years I used a different veterinary service in the Rockaways. They are good and provide a good service. Dr. Ruggiero goes beyond good, she provides impeccable care and treats the dog as if its her own. I highly recommend this service and hope you have the same success that I received

I became an owner of a pug just a few months ago and I came straight to Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services because of the feedback I received from friends and neighbors about how great Dr. Joanne Ruggiero is and the staff ! On my first puppy visit she was extremely helpful and went through every single question I had ( and I had tons ) . It was the first pet I owned and I wasn’t sure about things , but knew I wanted to take good care of my puggy. The girls fell inlove with my black pug and the team there are nice and professional ! Everyone very helpful and I honestly feel like they care about our pets as if it was their own. Great place and reasonable prices , as I hear other vets are a lot more expensive and conduct unnecessary work that is costly to us . Here , I am confident my pug is well taken cared of ! Love them !

I’m so disappointed that this is the kind of vet we have in the Rockaways. They are so money hungry and offer no proper solutions. I went here for my kitten to get checked out and the first thing they told me was that he needs an echo for his heart and that it would be $700. They also said he can drop at any point. This was the lady doctor that helped me. She had no care for my kitten and was saying we should not proceed with certain things because we don’t know if he will make it. But that we should do the echo before the end of the month. What she failed to mention is that if we did the echo the stress could overtake his heart and could kill him. The girls at the front desk are so kind but this lady doctor had no empathy or compassion. I recommend anywhere far from here.

Absolutely love our new vet and cat bestie, Dr. Ruggiero. My cats adore her (which says a lot!) and she was thorough, kind, compassionate and lovely while exploring some abnormalities in one of their bloodwork panels. We just did a dental cleaning/extraction surgery with Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services yesterday for one of my cats and the results are phenomenal. My cat is basically recovered less than 24 hours later and we were kept in contact with throughout the entire procedure and the cost was just right! After losing my favorite vet years ago, I haven’t found another one that I adored but that has finally changed and I couldn’t be happier! Thank you Dr. Ruggiero and RBVS staff!

Care about money way way too much. Update: I am moving this to 4 stars. They definitely care about money a lot but when I woke up one morning it was “time” for my dog. They immediately accommodated us& got us in. They were super compassionate & understanding. I planned but didn’t plan for the day. They ended up giving me my dogs ashes in time & in a nice urn, stamps of her paw prints, hair locks, and her “cremation certificate” which was the day before my birthday, around a week later. It cost around $400 to do the dreaded deed, but for the speediness & calmness of the staff while I was an emotional mess, was helpful. Horrible day but they did deliver probably the best anyone could.

Recently took our new rescue there and couldn’t b happier. Our last dog was Charlotte 2 yrs ago a rescue from Texas she was so very sick and was on her last leg, but so much luv. She only lasted 14 months but she was so happy n Dr Hollander was so kind and caring. And the whole staff. So this time I took our new puppy mill rescue Gracie and we met Dr Sauter who knew how to handle a puppy mill rescue with lots of luv n Gracie knew it. And the othe staff technician was there n she was very reassuring which helped me feel relax I can only give my Honest opinion i feel truly blessed n grateful n lucky to have a great place for out new luv Gracie

We were beyond happy with our visit. We just moved to the area and were a little anxious about changing vets with our pup who has some anxiety/aggression with unfamiliar people. Rose and Dr. Weinstock were amazing with our dog and treated him in a calm and loving manner. We could not have asked for a better first visit. They even made sure they were both available for our next visit to help continue to build the bond between our dog and them. During checkout, they applied as many discounts as they could to our prescriptions and visit fee as they were able, helping with the cost. We are loving Rockaway Beach Vet already.

This was a great visit. The office was extremely clean, the doctor explained everything clearly, was professional and kind and wasn't even fazed when my cat scratched her. I was a little bit worried about how he would react but he didn't even hiss at the other cats that were there which was unusual as usually he doesn't get along with other cats. The front desk staff is an absolute pleasure to deal with as well as the nurse I had. I'll definitely be coming back. They managed to make the experience easy on my cat and I. This office is filled with people who care about your pet just as much as you do.

We are so pleased with the excellent care our cats always receive at Rockaway Beach Vet. Dr Ruggiero, Dr Hollander, and all the wonderful staff are so competent, caring and compassionate. Gracie, our 20 year old cat, was diagnosed by Dr Ruggiero with chronic kidney disease almost 3 years ago. We're pleased to report that she continues to live a comfortable and happy life with her 2 siblings today. It's a comfort to know we have this wonderful group to bring our babies to when they require veterinary care. We highly recommend Rockaway Beach Vet to everyone!

I brought my 13 year old cat Prince in here. He had a broken canine and I knew it was time he needed dental work. I was nervous because he's an older cat - but Rockaway Beach vet took the best precautions with his bloodwork to make sure he'd be ok for anesthesia. Dr. Hollander did a wonderful job removing 3 teeth and Rose (who is WONDERFUL) made me feel so safe and told us what to do for aftercare. In just 3 short days my boy was back to his old self (minus a few teeth). I am really happy to have a vet I feel safe at for my sweet boy. Thanks guys!!

RBVS is absolutely the best! Our two cats have been their patients since we adopted them at 2 months old. Dr. Hollander moved from Bay Ridge to the Rockaways and we followed him, that says a lot. He and Dr. Ruggiero have always been kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and concerned veterinarians. We've had almost everything, ranging from normal check-ups, to dental cleanings, elevated liver issues, arthritis, emergency surgery, and even cancer. We can't say enough about them as veterinarians, front desk and techs. We just love them all!

I spent nearly $1,000 to be insulted by an inhumane front desk person. My dog went for surgery less than 3 hours earlier. Desk person showed annoyance and Lack of compassion for my dog who just woke from a surgery, in pain, dizzy and not able to comprehend the whole thing. She labeled my dog because he was whining after his surgery. Meanwhile her dog pushes his way onto other staff’s chair while they are trying to work. She says nothing to correct her dog, nor does she apologize to other workers that her dog interrupts them.

I had to take my dog in for an urgent issue; the clinic accommodated my request for a same-day visit. Dr. Hollander and Rose, the vet tech, were fantastic, quickly diagnosed the problem and took great care of my dog. Following this experience, I decided to switch to RBVS from the vet I had been going to for over 10 years. Thank you for providing a high quality and much-needed service to the community. My only critique is that the check-out process after a follow-up visit was unduly long and disjointed.

It is, quite simply, a place of exceptional care for our furry companions. The staff, you see, are masterful in their craft and treated my dog with the dignity and respect he deserves. I give it a rating of five stars without hesitation. It's as if they comprehend that dogs are not mere animals, but rather the guardians of our souls, the protectors of our homes. I implore you, do not take your canine friend to any other establishment. This one, my friend, is truly in a league of its own."

From the moment you walk in the door, you know you are in the right place for your pet. The reception staff is polite and courteous, the vet techs are kind and gentle. The vets are compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely competent. You are never rushed. They take the time to really get to know you and your pet. The office is immaculate, the equipment is state of the art and there is never a long wait . We are lucky to have such a wonderful establishment for our pets in Rockaway.

When I say I’ve trusted Rockaway Beach Vets with my family, I have. The veterinary service is professional and conscious of the pet-owner who is on top of high quality care for his/ her animal companions. The front of house staff and vet-techs know how to read a room; their structure, compassion, and consistency is noteworthy. I have utmost respect and appreciation for this medical facility. They are all so wonderful and caring. Our cat Firmi is wonderful and had the most fantastic care when she was brought to them as a kitten. They do their due diligence in making sure your future pet has a good home and assists with cost of care through neutering before officially adopting. Could not be happier with my experience with Noah's Arc adoption protocol and Rockaway Veterinarians services, they still offer top care and still recognize our little one when she comes in.

Our previous dog was a patient. Our new puppy is of course a patient. From the first phone call, to the tech at the door, you are greeted with such friendliness & professionalism. She is an Amazing Dr. ; she was very polite and very professional , I went for some documents for my upcoming trip so I could take my ESA with me , since 2 days before they got stolen here in far rockaway, and she knew everything that I needed and helped me in short notice . Highly Recommended . Unfourtanely I forgot to ask her for a paper of a vacinne that needed to be with a stamp, and USDA denied me my papers ; so it was money wasted plus papers . Very Sad .

I went to Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services for the first time this week because my cat had an emergency. Dr. Ruggiero and the nurse, Rose, did an amazing job taking care of my kitty, thanks to them she is recovering and no longer in pain. Their rate starts at $75 for a scheduled appointment and $85 for an emergency, obviously the price goes up depending on what treatment your pet needs. The service that they provide is 100% worth the price!!

I have never been to a vet who is more caring and passionate about her work than Dr. Ruggiero. She loves all of her furry patients so much and will work tirelessly to provide them with the best care possible. My dog gives her alot of wet kisses whenever he's there. The atmosphere at the office is friendly and welcoming from Kristine at the front desk to all of the vet techs. I highly recommend Rockaway Beach Veterinary for your beloved pets.

The first time I took my Babie there I felt confident that my Chihuahua was in the right clinic . The staff were friendly and professional and the veterinarian was great. The Doctor explain the exams in a way that made me understand every word he said and I was greatful. My dog was treated with care and Respect and I was loving it. Great place to treat your furry pet. Wish I had known about them sooner. Love that place .

I had an amazing experience with this place! They were professional and had great customer service. I was so nervous bringing in my cat as I had a horrible experience at a past vet clinic, but they made things so comfortable. The veterinarian was so patient with my cat and myself and super knowledgeable- not to mention how nice the vet tech was! I highly recommend this place. They also take Care Credit if you have it.

I’ve had fur babies my whole life, and had various vets care for them throughout their lives. Dr.’s Hollander, Ruggiero, and Weinstock are some of the best doctors in veterinary medicine I’ve ever interacted with. Caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable are some of the words I can use to describe this practice. I highly recommend this facility to anyone interested in the BEST healthcare for their beloved fur babies.

Dr Rugerrio and Dr Hollander as well as the ENTIRE staff at this office are amazing. I am a “frequent flyer” at this office with one of my pups due to an illness he has. They properly diagnosed him, they’ve continued to treat him and maintain his excellent quality of life. I never have trouble getting appointments and always have the best care for my pups. I have a new puppy Isabel and she loves Dr. Ruggiero and the whole staff! She is loved and taken care of so well there. Never met a vet that was so passionate and loving to all of her patients that I have seen her with! When our cat's regular vet sold their business and moved out to long island, we were recommended RB Vet by a friend who is very active in our community. We had our first visit and we are so happy. Our new vet was thorough and friendly, listened to our questions and was so gentle with our cats. We love that the office is closer to home, and we look forward to many years of care for our furbabies!!

Dr. Hollander is great with my puppy, Casino who is now 7.5 months old. He has been seeing him Since he was 3 months old. All the advice he gave me has been great since we are new puppy parents. Dr. Ruggiero has also taken time out of her day to call us when he was sick and we really appreciate the level of care both doctors have for their patients. All of the staff is kind and accommodating.

We took our cat to this office to get euthanized yesterday and the service could not have been any better. We were brought in within minutes of our appointment time (which I made the day of) and the staff was very friendly. Additionally, there prices are very fair for those without pet insurance. Their help and condolences made the experience more comforting for my family and our pet.

We highly recommend Rockaway Beach Vet! The staff are all such caring and knowledgeable professionals. We have brought multiple dogs there and they have treated each of them with kindness and compassion, and met their medical needs in every way. They have been an important resource for us in caring for our pets and we are so grateful to have such a wonderful Vet so close to home!

The best of the best! Welcoming atmosphere. Amazing vets. Smiles from all staff as soon as you walk in the door. They give you a safe warm feeling, take pride in what they do. Every employee has been an angel to me, my own cats, and all of my rescues. I would never trust anyone else with them-only the best for my babies! If you have not tried them, I 100% recommend that you do!

Today I visited RBVS for the first time. My dog went in for an ear infection & Dr. Ruggiero was by far the sweetest, kindest, most loving vet that my Kingy has ever seen! She was so gentle & compassionate, it was extremely heartwarming to watch their interaction. Safe to say King loved her just as much. Super happy that we found our new home clinic! Thank you Dr. Ruggiero!

Sasha loves her doctors and the whole staff as well. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Especially with a great bedside manner in times of great despair they have a way of getting to the point in a soft yet educational way. I don't know what we would have done without them. I highly reccomend. Nice to not have things sugar coated but also they are respectful of my emotions.

Absolutely the best vet care I have ever experienced. Not only are the vets top shelf but their vet techs are amazing as well. Dr Weinstock was my vet in Brooklyn, and started working in Rockaway, i followed her there. She’s the best. She takes her time listens to you and explains things easily. Staff seems organized and nice. Use of text and automated email / phone reminders. Facilities clean. I dont know how competitive pricing is. Seems a bit high but I am new to the Vet / pet thing. Could use more advice- Written or verbal on new pet. After a few visits- vest are thorough, expert and nice. Front desk could be a bit less business like and gruff.

The staff is really great and the care is excellent. Dr Ruggiero and Dr Hollander are top notch and good with followup. When it was time to let our Loki go, Dr. Ruggiero gave us the information straight but while compassionate to our situation. The entire staff was sensitive while going through a difficult time. I would recommend them to anyone in the area.

Dr. Jo is amazing!!! I highly recommend this vet, they go above and beyond to attend you. People I've recommended love them so much they come all the way from queens for there appointments. It's a great vet you wont regret it!! My calico fluffy is in her mid 20's and she is showered with so much love. Dr. Jo is so fragile, sweet and understanding with her.

My boys both go to this vet to be groomed and for their medical needs.. never had a issue. The staff is professional , friendly and respectful. The doctors are also so great with my fur babies! 4th of July the doctor provided Riley with medication for his anxiety with out hesitation . - Riley and Harley Both thank you guys at Rockaway Vet service !!! ☺️

I can’t imagine having better vets than Dr Ruggiero, Dr Hollander and their team! Even on the days they fully booked, they make sure to do their best to accommodate everyone asap. They truly care about their patients. My dog loves going there, she always has great time. Jenny does her grooming and it’s also superb. I recommend them without hesitation!

Excellent service, friendly staff. Always willing to help. I had a different vet that shut down and I transfered to this practice and have been very happy. They were there for us when we needed to say goodbye to one of our pack, and have been there for welcoming new members. Surgical staff is dedicated and cares and it shows. Highly recommended.

First visit today at this office, my boy is a big dog and did not behave very well. He was so scared and it was difficult to get his vaccines done but the Dr. and her assistant were amazing to my boy they got the job done no matter how hard it was. The Dr. And staff are truly caring, understanding and loving.Thank you all for everything

I have two dogs, one of whom is very anxious at the vet. Everyone at Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services goes above and beyond to make her feel comfortable. Dr. R even gets down on the floor with her (she is kind of big :)) to keep her happy. Very clean, beautiful facility, and highly trained, professional and pleasant staff.

I went to them for the first time in April and found Dr. Ruggiero to be professional and delightful. She didn’t push for unnecessary tests just to make money. She spoke to us about our pet’s dietary needs. I was very impressed and will definitely be using them in the future for all my pets veterinary needs.

Very freindly and professional staff! Dr Hollander and Dr Ruggiero have are magic skills of treating pets! I have never seen my cat being so calm with someone outside of our family. The hospital is very well equipped and you can feel how much the stuff members love animals.
