I have been taking my dog to Dr. McReynolds for years - 7 or 8? I am out of town a lot and I also take her to Camp 4 Paws. It has been great. I think McReynolds is a smart, capable vet and I believe my dog has received excellent care there. We have never had a problem with Camp 4 Paws. But recently I had a friend visiting from Canada with her dog. She and her dog are actually visiting Canada from Germany. Air Alaska wants a health certificate before they will fly any dog, something that says the dog has seen a vet within 10 days of flying. I also take my son's dog to McReynolds. They called to tell me he needed his Bordatela, I said OK and would you also see my friend's dog for the flight check thing. The person on the phone said No. I said, what? Why? She told me she didn't "know the reasons why - just no". I told her I needed to know the reasons why so I could figure out what to do next. She promised to find out and call me back. She didn't. I called her back and she said again, she didn't know why and it wasn't her the first time (though it was). She finally asked and then told me the vet isn't certified for international dog travel certification. I told her we didn't need that - the dog was HERE - so he has the certification for that. I just needed the health certificate. They called me back to explain pedantically that dogs have to have an international certificate to travel. I explained that we HAVE that. We only needed the health certificate for Alaskan Air. She then READ AA's policy to me. I said will you see the dog and give us a health certificate? Um, only if I signed something that said I am aware that this is NOT an international certificate. WHAT? She said they cannot be held responsible if my friend got held up at the border, because I need an international certificate, and they can't provide that, and they need SOMETHING that says I understand that. I told her I SAID I understand that. Apparently that wasn't good enough for the people who were having a REALLY hard time understanding what was being asked of them AND WHAT WAS NOT. In the end my friend went in and showed them the health certificates she had from Canada and Germany and they gave her one. No problem. I, however, have never received a phone call apologizing for the insane and insulting phone calls and difficulty in achieving this incredibly simple thing. So I am going to find a new vet's office that doesn't make me want to throw my phone against the wall, for Pete's sake.

My pets have received care at Rosedale Veterinary for the better part of the last eight years. When Rosedale’s doctor was Karen McReynolds, I very much trusted the care my pets received. In late 2019, Rosedale transitioned to new doctors and for a time, I was satisfied until recently. My dog began displaying signs of a pereneal hernia in November 2020 and over three visits which took course over a five week period, he was misdiagnosed; first with an infection, second with a possibly cancerous mass. On the third visit, after my own independent research and after consulting casually with veterinarian friends, I asked that he be examined for a hernia. While the doctor acquiesced, she said she could not conclude that he had a hernia. Over the course of these visits, he accrued a $600 bill. I sought a second opinion and within one twenty minute exam, the lead doctor at Emancipet was able to diagnose my dog with a hernia—literally by putting her finger inside the area. The bill for this diagnosis was $15. Most troubling: in his first two visits for this issue at Rosedale, a pereneal hernia was never considered until I mentioned it—in spite of the fact that he was presenting classic symptoms and in those two visits, the hernia abscess that formed was sliced into to take samples—which could have led to more serious injury. Rosedale has lost my trust.

I went there today with my four month old puppy. The assistant took my puppy away from me in the seeing room to do the vaccinations he needed. I didn’t know why, their reasoning was “its easier when mom isn’t in the room”... I heard him crying from the room I was in, which he NEVER does if i’m there with him. Once my puppy was returned to me, everything was fine... until the vet that saw us after that, Mark Rowley, was telling us how to discipline my puppy because he is a miniature pinscher chihuahua mix, and they are known to be aggressive later (what he said). He begin to look as if he was going to pinch his neck, but then proceeded to full on SQUEEZE my dog. My dog was screaming, and I told him to STOP. He didn’t so I grabbed my dog away from him. I am absolutely horrified. I came here because of the raving reviews for this place. Never again coming here, and no one I know will either.

Great service, accommodating staff. Best part of this place is Dr. McReynolds. She is great with dogs and provides sound advice. I made the mistake of trying to find a vet closer to my new home and was astounded at how much I disliked them compared to Rosedale and Dr. McReynolds. I have always gotten the feeling that she really cared. For example, when my previous dog died unexpectedly (and was taken to an emergency vet, so not even the same office), Rosedale sent a sympathy card signed by the entire staff. The facilities are clean and dog-friendly without feeling overly sterile and unwelcoming. One tip - call well in advance of when you need an appointment. They are busy!

I am super picky about good care for my pets AND using vets that are respectful, practical and allow me to be involved with the health care decisions about my animals. I have fired several vets for not holding up good treatment standards and/or talking down to me or trying to upsell me. The folks at this clinic are all very pleasant, efficient, and clear in their communication. They have provided great care at reasonable prices, they include me in health care decisions, and they present options for care. I am an active partner in the care of my pets. This is why I drive from South Austin to use this clinic. These folks are the best.

These folks were impossible to deal with. Prescribed my cat thyroid meds for life, then when I couldn't get an appointment for weeks, they refused to refill the prescription. Then they scheduled me for a random Friday (while at work) and didn't tell me, calling wondering where I was. After a week or back and forth, I switched to a different vet office who jumped in to help. Why do I have a harder time getting an appointment for my cat than a doctor appointment for a human? This isn't a one-time thing. Everytime my husband and I call here, it's like we should be grateful they even picked up the phone. Get over yourselves.

Dr. Judd and her staff are incredible in every way - caring, knowledgeable, empathetic, and kind. Dr. Judd has been caring for our diabetic cat for the past several months - the situation has been extremely stressful for us but Rosedale Vet Clinic has been nothing but helpful and supportive. Dr. Judd has explained things thoroughly and assisted us in making the best decisions for our cat's health while being mindful of our unique needs. This team goes above and beyond what any of our past vet clinics have provided us. We're extremely grateful to have found Rosedale Vet Clinic!

This place is amazing, I recently got a puppy and his first visit here went great. The staff is very attentive and caring, and the prices are completely affordable. I even received a little goody bag for my pup with loads of great products. Love this place, never going anywhere else. Also take note the 3 bad reviews on here are literally about the same singular(1) person’s experience duplicated by who I imagine are their friends.

  • Michael Preite

We've been going there for years and she has taken care of all our dogs past and present. One of the best vets in Austin, and is the only place I'll take my animals. The staff is amazing and the veterinarian is the best I've be to. She really cares about your pets and remembers them. If any of your pets get ill or you feel like something is not right I highly recommend taking them to Rosedale Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Karen sold this practice and unfortunately has a noncompete clause. They have been calling and emailing me trying to get my business. This morning I had an emergency. I called them at 7:00 am and they took my number and said they'd call me right back. And hour and ten minutes later, they called and said, sorry we can't fit you in today. Completely unempathetic. No wonder Dr. Karen wanted out of here.

Since 2012, the Rosedale vet team has taken great care of my dog Bentley. He recently needed a mass removal, and Dr. Judd and Litza took excellent care of him. Their prices are reasonable, and they genuinely care about your pet. The process was smooth, and they are extremely communicative pre and post op. I’ve recommended Rosedale Vet to my friends, and will continue taking my pup here.

It was great when the other doctor and Mrs. A plus the old secretary was there they was all about saving my Dalmatian king life but the new people is all about money to where I had to put my baby king to sleep I won't ever recommend for anyone to take their pets there those new people is all about money trust me I should know king my Dalmatian could had been saved.

  • Erin Elan

They really take care of our two dogs. One had to have bladder surgery, which was terrifying for me. They took such good care of her, we're very communicative with us, and followed up after. Our other dog is a hot mess of allergies and disgusting, but they're kind to her anyway. It's not always easy to find a vet beloved by Humana and animals, and we feel like we found a winner.

  • Meg

I took my dog Autumn there today for xrays, bloodwork, and vaccines. Dr. Shaver and the technician (I can't remember her name!) Were so patient and kind with my nervous girl. Dr. Shaver gave thorough and HONEST recommendations . The technician was also very informative and connected so well with my pup. So glad we found this place!

  • Miranda Bennett

We were on the hunt for the right vet for a long time, and never found a place that felt like home for our furry ones until we discovered Rosedale Veterinary Clinic. The staff genuinely cares about our senior pup, and we cannot wait to bring our other guy there when he is due for his next annual. Could not recommend them enough!

  • r0cd0x

Waited 3 weeks for a neuter surgery for my cat, then less than 24 hours before the surgery they called and said they had to reschedule it and id have to wait another 4 weeks because of "covid". I hope that they did the fare and rescheduled ALL of her appointments for the same length of time and not just mine.

  • Todd White

This is the best place in town for your fur babies!!! Dr. Judd and the team are second to NONE!!!! They truly love what they do and that shows by the care they provide. They are also very attentive to us humans and what we are going thru regarding our loved ones. You will not find any place better!

  • Simon Hall

Excellent and caring staff. They are connected to the doggy daycare "camp 4 paws" next door. I often drop the pup off at daycare and have the staff take care of shots and checkups while the little pup is onsite. Super convenient. * I also take the cats there and they are great for cats too.

  • Ashley Christine

Took my cat here because he ate some string and had some loose stool problems. Great service: the staff was timely, friendly, and helpful- answered all of my questions, explained the tests they were doing and why, etc. I also got a phone call checking up on his symptoms. Highly recommend!

  • jeanine woodard

Just gotta say it again.. Dr Judd and her staff are the absolute VERY best! Dr Judd is the absolute best! She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and affordable. Words cannot express my gratitude for her care and treatment of my sweet cat. I will never take my pets anywhere else!

  • Kyle Easter

Very local one on one care in the big city! Excellent staff, very caring even when I had to take raven in to another hospital Dr.Shaver called to check on his condition. Could not ask for better service! I happy to say they are my only choice for primary care for my prince!!

  • Julie Whitten Burdick

The following review was given before our wonderful vet, Dr McReynolds sold her practice. We have now left here. These folks are above and beyond! Knowledgeable, kind to our furry daughters, trustworthy! We sampled several places and settled unanimously on Rosedale Vet!

  • Daniel P. Ray

All you need to know is that when I take our 2-year-old dog on a walk past the Rosedale Veterinarian door, she pulls at the leash and tries to go in. She loves this vet that much. The staff is friendly and caring, and communication is top-notch.

  • Logan Rassman

Mark Rowley will tell you how to discipline YOUR OWN animal, hurt them to the point they cry out, and will disregard you when you ask him to stop. No respect whatsoever. I advice you to stay away from this place.

  • Julie Needler

Came here because they had an opening right away and it’s close to my house but will definitely be coming here from now on. They made an effort to make my nervous dog comfortable and were so kind!!

  • Colleen Covington

Everyone here really cares and are so understanding. Our dog had allergies that just wouldn’t go away. They gave several options and finally we found something that worked. Thank you!

  • Rhonda M

I’m so grateful for the vets here! They really love the animals and communicate to the owner so thoroughly and check in quite often. Also, they always try to work within my budget.
