"i want to say that i have not tried their sandwiches or prepared food but they looked good and fresh"
"Okay, sure, the prices are a bit high"
"Just a fair warning, not only are items ridiculously overpriced, most items don't have prices on them and the ones that do are actually higher when you check out"
"First time today, at this establishment"
"Buyer beware, this place is comically overpriced and then on top of that they prompt you to tip at the checkout… for what, I don’t know"
i want to say that i have not tried their sandwiches or prepared food but they looked good and fresh. cold sandwiches were $8-10 and small salads about the same. deli area was closed when we were there after 9pm. i came in to get a box of pasta and a jar of sauce to quickly cook at my hostel and was shocked for the cheapest box of spaghetti to be $6 (nothing special- de cecco) and newman's own alfredo to be $6 as well. other marinara sauces (no price indicated) were $9.99 and $11.99 when i asked the cashier to check the price. i know i was going to pay a premium for this place but couldn't justify $12 for basic pasta and sauce that i still have to cook myself. i wanted to support a small business but went to target and spent $4 on the same meal instead. my suggestion is to be more transparent (label your items better) and fair (i know you have to pay rent) in pricing, if possible.
Okay, sure, the prices are a bit high. But they're less than the hotels in the area charge for the same stuff. And the staff was nice - both times I went in, they were pleasant & helpful. Even had a nice conversation about books with one of the counterpeople. I grabbed a black and white cookie and some milk the first night I was in town, and was charged WAY too little for the milk. Cookie was a little disappointing. Second night I grabbed a locally-produced cicnut flan from the snacks cooler, and it was wonderful!
Just a fair warning, not only are items ridiculously overpriced, most items don't have prices on them and the ones that do are actually higher when you check out. For example, most of the chips will say they're between $5.99-7.99 but when you check out they're actually $10.99. I believe this is considered deceptive pricing and illegal. I'll let the company respond but I'm fully planning to send evidence of deceptive pricing to local news stations pretty soon if they don't clearly reflect the actual pricing.
First time today, at this establishment. Notified staff member I was harassed for money by a person sitting in the stores outside tables. Employee asked me what do YOU want me to do about the person who is not a customer harassing customers for money.?? Then asked me HAVE YOU EVER BEEN HOMELESS??? OK.. let's move on.. paid $4 for a cup of diluted bitter house coffee. Took one sip, asked for a refund and walked out. Oh I was advised my refund will be available to me in 3 business days. Ok. --- ;/ Enjoy J
Buyer beware, this place is comically overpriced and then on top of that they prompt you to tip at the checkout… for what, I don’t know. You literally just pick out your items and bring them to the counter where they gouge you. I was deer -in-headlights so shocked I went ahead and tipped and now I genuinely feel like I’ve been violated. Hope this helps prepare you and maybe even deter you from setting yourself up for this in the first place.
Rented a condo downtown, and this was the nearest grocery store. The store is just so cute, with all of the things you need, from various wines to freshly prepared salads and quick meals. They also had fresh and hot Taco Deli tacos there for breakfast. The staff were friendly and courteous. Everything is a little pricier though, which is expected from a local, 'boutique-y' grocery store in the heart of downtown Austin.
Amazing little place to buy speciality foods, and also delicious hot sandwiches that taste exquisite. ***TIP: I recommend going for the "Texas-hold-em'" or the "Grilled-Cheese" sandwich. Lugar increible para comprar alimentos especializados y originales, también un lugar increible para compar sandwiches exquisitos! ***TIP: Te recomiendo pedir el sandwich "Texas-hold-em'" o el "Grilled-Cheese".
On the plus side, the staff is very friendly. Other than that, calling it a "grocery store" is really a stretch. More like a better stocked Circle K, only more expensive. They have beer and wine, but no other alcohol. My biggest complaint is the ask for a tip when you check out. That's just taking it too far. There is no reason to tip a convenience store clerk for ringing you up.
This place was absolutely wonderful. To the owner of Royal Blue Grocery: please, Please, PLEASE come to Chicago!!! You will be VERY successful here, I PROMISE!!! This place is a small grocer and has everything you need. Plus it's a little cafe. The things sell here are amazing, the place is modern, they appear to be environmentally conscious, and service is friendly!
Royal Blue is extraordinarily convenient but aggresively mediocre. You find lots of fancy foods, on the shelves but will have to delve out a convenience fee for those. The lunch meals offered are also convenient and fast, but are nothing special, and certainly not worth the price. Biggest rip off is the reheated pizza for $4 a slice. Ha.
Everything you need in this store! The manager is awesome, Dutch, like us, we both live stroopwafels,so she carries them! Always friendly, good crew, good products and always there for ya, whatever you might need! They even serve hot foods from their own kitchen, a hot soup with rice sometimes is all you need!
I love it! They have plenty of snacks, drinks and items in the deli they will make for you. You can also stay and eat with seating inside and outside. Highly recommend if you are in the area. I stopped by recently after leaving the Austin Convention Center in search of more affordable drinks and snacks.
Cool little grocery store. They have a huge selection of wines and beer. They also have your everyday household items. They also serve some great soup. I had the Tuscan white bean soup with sausage and kale. They even have a place out front where you can sit and eat.
Lovely little store nestled in the heart of downtown Austin. Has a great selection of healthy snacks, alcohol and those things you forgot to pack. Also offers a selection of made to order coffee based drinks and fresh made sandwiches. I loved the lemon cheesecake!
A glorified Starbucks + Bronx bodega with pedestrian, packaged (but very nicely packaged!) food that has clearly overtaken downtown Austin (did I mention Starbucks?). At best this is a sad Dean & DeLuca simulacrum but perhaps that is being too kind.
Awesome grocery shop with great people inside. I couldn't find any convenience store to get water on a hot summer day and found this place, the people inside were nice, tried some bakery options from here too, and overall just a nice place to be!
Not the kind of place I would normally review, but while staying at the Hyatt this place became such a nice convenience. In their relatively small store they fit a lot of product and everything is clean and organized, with friendly employees.
Excellent sandwiches. Prepared morning, grilled to order. Excellent size of grocery store, easy to walk to, place to order and sit and enjoy food and beverage. Very well crafted urban resources that creates a small town comfortable feel.
Came here pretty much every day during SXSW and there is a reason. Great friendly bunch of people, beautiful coffee with beans from our friends at Proud Mary's Coffee, and a wide range of snacks, ready to go meals, and groceries.
I am a frequent shopper at this store and I get so sad when I go in for something as canned soda or bottle water and the shelves are so empty. It’s frustrating. It’s been this way for months. Maybe time for change of leadership.
We are visiting from Tulsa for a work conference, and stopped in for some supplies. Our cashier was extremely helpful and friendly and l loved chatting with her about where we are from and how beautiful Austin is!
More of a convenience store than a grocery but for where it's located and the type of customers it probably serves, it's perfectly fine. Food items are fresh and regularly restocked and of generally high quality.
I order Latte macchiato the person give me like dirty water no tast . Even the casher she charge me more $1 dollar like every day. I order Latte macchiato and Ozarka water. I pay always $6:50 but today $7:65.
Although there was a wait because of high demand during a conference a block away, the breakfast tacos were wonderful and only $3 each. Much better than the choices at Starbucks or in the Convention Center.
Tons of options! Plenty of food, snacks, frozen food, sandwiches, baked goods, coffee/tea, bars, candy, etc. They also have medicines, basic toiletries, etc. Friendly and kind customer service. Expensive.
Delightful place, cheerful service, with a diverse selection of grocery items and both packaged and fresh sandwiches. The veggie grilled cheese was great and came with a perfect spicy sauce on the side.
Really nice small upscale grocery store with 4 or 5 locations in downtown Austin. They're open til midnight. They've got gourmet coffee, Stump town from Portland, chocolate and different grocery items.
Usually have what I need when u forget something at heb, also has tacos when I don't have time for breakfast, and decent baristas that can make a nice cortado and a really good espresso. Pricey though
Nice cozy little shop. Got recommended to try one of their sandwiches. I had a cold turkey bam, which I'm sure would of been good if the turkey wasn't 20% gristle and the bread wasn't moist and stale.
One of the few places that keep prices constant throughout the year, even during SXSW. Good sandwich, beer, wine and soft drink selections. All kinds bbn of other snacks too, including chocolates.
Great store with very personable staff that are always so happy to be helpful in any way they can. Has pretty much anything you may need last minute when downtown and great, fresh food options.
If you’re staying (or living) downtown Austin, this is a great place for sandwiches and pizza. Wide beverage selection. And a good selection as a general market as well. Highly recommended.
Great products and a neat little grocery, deli, pizzeria, and souvenir shop. Plenty of items to browse through and eat. Staff is so attentive and friendly. Great experience.
Loved the veggie grilled cheese! It's really good! Everything else is a bit pricey... but the staff here is awesome! Friendly and super helpful. I'm a repeat customer.
My sandwich was amazing! Great flavors. The place is clean and has a variety of grocery items. Super friendly staff. 100% would recommend for a great bite to eat.
Rude staff. Particularly 7/18 around 7:00 embarrassingly awful representation to the company. However this company in itself is great, like a fancy 711! …
Great spot to get some taco deli breakfast tacos, some cold brew coffee and get work done. Sit outside on the patio to enjoy some people watching and sunshine.
As an out-of-town guest staying downtown, this little market was a great stop to pick up snacks and such. Staff were friendly and the prices were reasonable.
Hyperlocal convenience store that keeps 7-Eleven out of Austin and I'm okay with that. Fresh coffee when you want it from local roasters too. Hip as hell.
Kick ass veggie pizza with roasted garlic, eggplant, artichoke, and feta cheese. Fresh salad, friendly staff. Forget fancy places, go for their pizza!
Small little store in downtown area. Hard to describe....a quick mart, beer & wine available, prepared food to eat in or at tables on the street.
Love these small but strategically located grocery stores around downtown Austin. Drinks, snacks for visitors and basics for residents downtown.
The food is good here but why does only 50% of their items have prices (at best). Very frustrating that they do not have the prices on items.
This is our downtown grocery go to. Great sandwiches & salads! They carry Bola pizza, local & the best. Great selection of beer and wine too.
These stores are like Starbucks! They are on EVERY block lol! Sometimes 2 on EVERY block! I mean it in a GOOD way! Very convenient! Haha!
Super friendly staff and tasty goods. Prices are a little high, but are about what you'd expect for a convenience market in downtown.
Nice grocery store for a quick bite/meal during your lunch break on a busy day. Expensive but with some variety and a friendly staff.
Excellent service and a good selection considering the size of the store. I've been using it to cut down on my restaurant expenses.
Such a cool little place. The guy from New Orleans was so friendly. Will definitely be coming back here next time we’re in town!
Cute little Bodega with the best Cuban sandwiches around. Great snacks too. Will be back to try the roast beef and the pork bao.
Oh wow what a delicious sandwich. I only wish I found about them sooner. If your in Austin hit them up you will not regret it.
Prices are a little high but that is to be expected at a store near a convention center and the people are always nice
My favorite little market whenever I visit Austin. Great selection of yummy fresh food, as well as some great wines.
fun place. Cool shirts, which is rare. Needed a good grocery store in a pinch downtown and they had what we needed.
Awesome place for prepared food, espresso drinks, some hot food, beer, wine, kombucha, specialty snacks, etc.
Friendly little grocery store with an interesting selection. Many off name brands for drinks and snacks.
Pricey, but really convenient lunch spot if you work downtown. Good vegan sweet potato lunch taco
Amazing staff with a helpful attitude. Good eats offered as well as the best ice coffee in town .
Very nice and they don't make me feel like an alcoholic when I go there and drink a beer at 9 am
I want this store near my house!! Too bad I don’t live in Austin!! Small whole foods I’ll say!
Not super overpriced like grocery stores in most downtowns. Very reasonable and nice workers.
Nice little convenience store downtown. Nice staff, decent prices, good home made food too.
Very loci and comfortable! They have everything! There are many salads and good foods too.
About the same here as any of the other Royal Blues , but they have the best staff by far.
One of the more convenient places to pick up snacks if staying downtown for a few days...
Great little store. Had what I needed and fee things I didn't know I needed!! …
Had a variety of food, drinks and merch to purchase. Cool store with friendly staff.
People here is not friendly like the other blue store. Tall guy with beard the worst
The organic produce could be better, but this is a great stop for fresh groceries!!
Great little convenience store in a food desert, offering healthy snacks and eats.
Great selection of prepared foods and snack items. Well sourced and great coffee.
Hip little corner market. Lots of gluten free snacks and Stumptown coffee on tap!
great place with a big selection to choose from, staff is helpful and friendly
Fantastic bodega with plenty of high-quality brands and options. Well done!
Just love stores that don't price their items. Is this ice cream $3 or $15?
Good selection of wine and beer as well as snacks and gourmet sandwiches.
Great place; eclectic selection. Wish there were some of these in NC!
Great little store with convenient location stFf is awesome too
Neat options really friendly staff. Great Italian sandwich.
Friendly, helpful and the best chocolate chip cookies ever!
