I rented a vehicle from this establishment for about 3 weeks @ the rate of $110 a day. Me & My boyfriend got arrested on some boogus misdemeanor charges being out on the Clearwater Beach at the gas station ...we refused to talk to the cops & we was arrested for obstruction without violence.( due to not wanting to talk to the cop) he got upset we was walking away from him & arrested us" The 2018 white hudaui we rented was impounded at yoho towing. They charged $153.00 to get it out. We was booked @4 in the morning ! While we was in jail posting bond, my credit card had been , being ran for different amounts from star rent a car. They couldn't pull the money off ,tho they was running my card without my authorization. We got out at 1 p.m. thee next day. I called yerica to inquire on my items we left in the vehicle. I didn't even tell them I knew about the several attempts of running my card for $210. then $330. Then $110 etc. She said until the balance is covered of $210 for the day before the incident & the next day on top of the $250 to get the car out ..remind you to get it out was only $153. She racked on the time they spent recovering the vehicle ..not to mention she said I forfeited my deposit of $100 for the car even being impounded. So she wanted $470 .. my purse my house keys my work attire my allergy meds I take daily my bf work boots cause he works construction plus his iPhone which wasn't recovered was all in the rental. & she wasn't going to release any of our property to us! I didn't think it was legal to do this, so I called a family attorney. I also went on google and researched. Yay! This is illegal. I called the non emergency police for that district they came out & helped me recover my items without paying the $470. Yerica tried to indirectly threaten me with she could work out a deal for the $470 or she was & before she could get it out her mouth that she was going to sue... I let her know I already had counsel ..i thanked the officers on scene I looked at her straight in her face & said my attorney will be intouch. We couldn't work thursday -tuesday cause they had our things ! Lesson. If someone paid me $110 a day for 3 weeks I wouldn't dare keep thier things. I would let them get certain things or all & put them on the do not rent list till the balance Is paid in full. Yea it's not personal only business tho it's etiquette in business as well. Don't be fooled don't get scammed. These mfs are hard up for money. Period. Go to Advance Rent A Car ! I guarantee she rewrote the contract so she could have that upper hand "like" she "thought" she had ..take care guys

Shady business that caters (and preys) on people who are unqualified to be renting cars. I needed a last minute rental car and I’m 24 y/o so as you can imagine it was difficult finding a company to rent to me. When I found Star Car Rental i thought I found blessing because even though it was but more than I had hoped, they were willing to rent to me. I paid $1450 including a $250 deposit for 12 days. However, after looking at my receipt, and break down of my charges, the total had come out to $989 with the $250 deposit. So there was an extra $210 I was being charged that did not show up on the recipes anywhere. As anyone would, inquired about where this extra charge came from and after speaking to Lenny (owner) for 30 mins in his office, I can confidently say, this company stole/scammed me out of an extra $210. They noticed I was desperate to rent a car in a short time period and charged me whatever they could. The explanation I got for the extra fee was essentially a “post transaction fee” that didn’t print out on the receipt due to a “glitch in the system”. This “glitch in the system” had only occurred one time prior and according to Lenny, I was just trying to be “smart” with him when questioning him on this matter. He gave me the ‘run around’ for 30 mins trying to come up with excuses as to why they charged me an extra $210. The reality? It should’ve never happened, and that’s why I’m getting it back. It’s also why he offered me a free day car rental to make up for the charge after claiming the company did not thing wrong. Be very careful with this company and read your receipt carefully. They know what they’re doing and they keep getting away with it because their renters (on most occasions) are not qualified to rent a car anywhere else and they are desperate. Again, be careful.

This place is a god send to those who don’t have the “proper credit card” to rent a car! I flew into Tampa from Maryland to take my daughter on a mom/daughter trip and take her to tour her soon to be college, I thought all my travel plans were all set (thanks…no thanks… travel app!) until the rental place at the airport wouldn’t let me have my car (wrong type of card for them) but StarCar came thru and saved our trip! They put us in a nice mid sized car and it was a great ride! Newer car, clean, ran perfect definitely not a rip off or junker! I wish I could keep this place a secret (they have a first come first serve motto however they did help guarantee I’d get a car when I was headed to them!) then they would always be available when I come into town to see my kid this year! I am from out of town and I was not really aware of the location of my hotel. I really needed a rental. I found Starcar Rental and Carmen explained everything and offered to pick me up from my hotel to get to her location. She was not concerned about the distance of my hotel. She just told me to be ready in about 40 minutes. Once I arrived she handled everything. She even offered to open up her office early on Monday to assist us to get to the airport on time. She was awesome. The owner of Starcar Rental drove us to the airport and I tried to tip him. He refused and said this is what we do for all our customers. I love love Starcar Rent.

As a small business owner and retired Air Force veteran I am always looking for a small business that provides great customer service, a great product, priced right and most important a company that values veterans. Star Car Rent a Car hit all those items. Yerica and Carmen were amazing to work with, kind, professional and very receptive to my needs. They are just a short 5 miles from Tampa airport and well worth the taxi ride to avoid the negative experiences and long lines of the big chain car rental companies at the airport. They have definitely got a lifelong customer in me!!!!

The company provides a dirty car, almost no fuel. Overcharged for three days. and decided to charge an extra day for the car because their office is in horrible area and didn't let us drop the car off on sunday then tried to charge 179 for another day when they sold us 3 days for 299 and very unprofessional. Never returned our deposit even though the car was returned clean and full of fuel. I will not recommend the company to anyone. Don't get trapped giving these people your card information. The kid that sold us the rental hung up the phone once he had our card information.

We came from San Diego on 10 11 2019. All car rentals in the city were out of Autos. My wife called around and found STARCAR RENT A CAR. and stars they were. They picked us up from the hotel brought us to their business to rent the car. Once we were ready for our flight home they took us to the airport. The Lady receptionist name Carmen was outstanding and did a fantastic job working to get us the car we needed. She has a heavy accent but don't let that fool you because she's very knowledgeable and sweet when comes to taking care of her customers. Thank you starcar.

They prey on the minority’s! They believe since your not able to rent from enterprise or bigger rental places they will charge you double and if that’s not enough they steal your deposit even with no damages. And Carmen is rude and is so happy to tell you she is stealing your deposit. A deposit is for damages I gave them the vehicle cleaner than they gave it to me, they gave it back smelling good after they gave it to me selling like cigarettes, so taking my deposit is not acceptable. DEPOSITS ARE FOR DAMAGES

I needed to rent a car because my truck was in the repair shop. After looking everywhere to find the best price for a rental after calling this place for prices, I was surprised of how great of a deal I was going to get on a rental car. the process was easy and I had a great reliable car that got me around wherever I needed to go to. Gunsmoke was very professional and easy going. I'm definitely going to get another rental car from this place soon.

Hello! I just rented a car from them. The service was cool. Young lady at the desk cool down to earth. Customer service very Good! It’s cool to go rent from them when you need a renter car with no credit card. Only thing the price for 2 days is 199.00 that’s the only thing The deposit was discounted bc the holidays. If they give rates for a week cheaper or work a deal that would be good. Other then that I would use them again if I need to.

Carmen at the help desk was an absolute angel we had a debacle take place at the airport and we were not able to rent a car there we looked around at a few other places and came across star car and I have to say by far this wonderful little hidden gem was a lot more accommodating than the bigger name rental car places if you're ever in Tampa and you're looking for a friendly face a clean and cool ride be sure to look them up

Horrible experience ! The guy never clarified much details and would not let me return car on a Sunday even though I went over there to turn the car in. I stood with the car until the next day and he still charged me for it. He was very unprofessional, racist, and thought it was okay to call me “mama” ! Cars are way to overpriced and you’re better off going to a larger company . DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE ! it’s a scam

Cash, debit or credit, it's all good with Celeste, the very nice agent. Rates are about half of what you'd pay elsewhere. As a Veteran and neighborhood historic vacation rental, I stopped in today to meet Yerica and Carmen, visually inspected their fleet and discuss rates for those instances where guests on short fly in/fly out visits want the use of a car. Although we have not rented from StarCar as yet, the office and the vehicles both looked immaculate and was greeted with a smile and courtesy.

They helped me in a bind when my rental reservation was cancelled and enterprise didn’t have any rentals for this weekend. They had rented me a car for the weekend to go out of state the car was clean and handled all of our needs. The rental lady explained everything clearly and the price for a last minute rental for mlk weekend was fair. I would recommend them

The guy at the front was sooo rude, he failed to clarify over the phone they don’t receive out of state license which is fine. But he kept calling me “love” after every sentence and that aggravated me, then when I asked him to stop calling me that he said “he was only trying to be nice”. Horrible horrible experience !

Expensive I call I got one price then I get there after I lyft they came up with the price double in .3 seconds I was told for a weeks rental was $1051 to be exact on a regular and the 7 seater was $1195 there's no difference I was told $500 a week so tell me who was trying to steal my money

The girl at the counter was very difficult. She sold the last rental while I was there getting my stuff together. So ghetto and unprofessional. The cars are beat up and dirty. They don't look like good rentals. They look like they are the employees' cars that they are lending to people.

I called them and they wanted $899 for 7 days plus a deposit...Thats a down payment on a car.Thats crazy. To owners response:Thats not true.I called and its def not even over $400 I also called other places that accept cash and theyre only $350-$400.

Husband rented a Toyota Corolla going on 2nd week and we keeping having funds removed from our account. Funds in the amount of $1425.00 this is the most expensive rental I’ve ever seen in my life and the selection of cars is not that great.
