On the upside, the setting is enchanting and service was friendly, attentive and prompt. Sadly it was all downhill from there. The abundance of flies in attendance at the verandah table required constant arm flailing until a Bee-line, insect helicopter type repellant mechanism was eventually provided. The overall quality of the warm chicken salad was mediocre and indifferent.. The chicken fillet had clearly been sacrificed hours previously and was simply reheated, and served as a diced and desiccated left-over on a flattened bed of unexciting greens. What would it have cost the chef to grill a chicken fillet to order? Instead one is given an epitome of laziness; showing deliberate disregard and contempt for basic culinary standards. The pasteis de Nata are to be avoided at all costs. They must once have been tasty (when ordered-in?) before being served ice-cold and chewy. One wonders whether the chef actually understood or is actually aware of the unique fusion of a warm creamy egg-yolk custard and light, crispy, flaky pastry? A "New York" Cheese cake that would be guilty of identity theft! To top it off, a Milo milkshake appeared to have miraculously been made without a trace of a grain of Milo..... Will I take overseas visitors there, as guests, ever again? Rhetorical question..... In short it was mutton dressed-up as lamb. An experience not to be repeated.

I went back today for the first time in 2 years since my last review to see if things had improved, unfortunately not. I waited for 20 minutes for a poached egg which was cold when it got to the table and I had to send it back. Coffee arrived with no sugar, I waited another 5 minutes for sugar. All in all service was slack. Such a pity as the venue is lovely. I hope the owners see feedback as constructive and make the necessary improvements. Great food and venue but disappointed in the service. Waiter didn't come near my table to see if i wanted anything else, eventually when he did appear well after I had finished eating I asked for the bill and I saw he had charged me for bottomless coffee, when I ordered filter coffee he didn't ask if I wanted the bottomless, I had no idea there was that option. I did order a second cup after I saw the bill as I had paid the extra for bottomless, but at an upmarket venue the waiters ought to be more attentive. Hopefully my review will be noted as constructive as I don't tip when service is bad.

Always enjoyed popping in for a cappuccino when they were in the Station Road precinct, so decided to pay them a visit in the new premises in Glenwood. Savior Cafe is housed in a beautiful old, lovingly restored Victorian home. The rooms, with high ceilings are light and airy and there is also a magnificent wrap around verandah if you prefer to be outside. When we arrived there were a couple in one of the inside rooms and we were the second table on the verandah ... by the time we left every table was occupied. We weren't planning on eating anything, but then remembered I was collecting my licence card at the Road Testing grounds and reckoned sustaince may be required for the lengthy wait ... and glad we did! We both had the Breakfast Bun - 2 rashers of streaky bacon, 1 fried egg, lettuce & tomato on a soft portuguese roll. Superb! Cappuccinos were as good as ever. Staff friendly and efficient. Their is a display of Savior leather goods in the front room. Highly recommended.

A lovely place with a warm environment. Friendly staff and excellent service, the food is amazing and worth the price you pay for. Comprehensive menu where you can get breakfast and lunch at any time. It’s quick and while you are waiting the music is at the perfect volume and creates a good atmosphere. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a meal in the glenwood area.

Savior has a shabby-chique feel about it. I like the choice of verandah or indoor seating. The menu has something to offer everyone and the beverages menu is appealing. The food is well-prepared, tasty and well-presented. Love the confectionery/ bakery goods. The service is good too. Prices are fair. The place needs a good sweep and dust in non-food preparation areas.

It's a trendy chilled out spot with a warm homely feel, the food was delicious. Been here a few times to try out different items. Had the best old fashioned pastrami and mustard sandwich. Staff is warm, greatly knowledgeable and friendly. A little gem of a place to visit for a morning bite or afternoon lunch.

We really enjoyed this place. We found it as we was driving in the area and decided to stop for lunch. Beautiful atmosphere, peaceful and chilled atmosphere. The owner and his wife are also on site . I have met them both. Friendly owners and staff. They have a good range of different meals . I had the 3 bean salad. It was the best 3 bean salad I had.The portion size was more than enough for 1 person. I will definitely recommend this place . I hope to go back there soon.

My friend Nomkhosi introduced me to this beautiful spot on Glenwood. The food and venue is beautiful. I ate breakfast there and was so stuffed but I couldn't resist buying their Pastéis de Nata, it absolutely didn't disappoint. Highly recommended.

Very nice place to eat and very good service on their part. The waiters seem happy all the time and are very friendly towards us. The food is brilliant, especially the smoked salmon. The atmosphere, however is fairly average with using only 2 colours, but at least there is a nice view.

The space is astoundingly beautiful, a perfect balance of nature and homeliness. The waitress who served us was so amazing I'm so mad I didn't ask her name, she made my experience so warm, such a lovely being. The food was out of this world. I enjoyed every moment. It's also affordable and away from the busy life. I definitely recommend Savior Café and I'll be returning for sure.

  • Anathi Fatyela

I love this place!!! It is such an intimate establishment. I've been here a couple of times, I really enjoy their food and especially the brownie milkshake which is to die for. Pricing is really fair... It's situated around art galleries so that's an added bonus for an extra activity prior or post lunch... Service is good but at times you can wait a while to get their attention.

I was invited here by friends for some birthday cake and coffee. The setting is wonderful, the staff are ready and waiting at the doors, well spoken in English, the service was quick, the coffee and cake delicious. It's a pity they were closing at 5 and I felt a bit rushed. Nevertheless less I was impressed. The carrot cake and my wife's new York cheese cake were delicious.

A delightful Cafe. We just had from the vast cake selection, a baked cheesecake and a carrot cake. Both were very yummy. The service was highly efficient and our waitron was friendly. All the waitrons greeted in fact. It's definitely worth going again to try a meal.

Relaxed outdoor seating. Chilled music. Good service. The breakfast was excellent value. Fresh ingredients and very well prepared. The iced americano was perfect for the Durban heat. I can confidently recommend this place for an easy going breakfast or lunch.

I found this quite little Cafe, little piece of heaven in Gordon Rd. Well blended coffee and amazing presentation. What I loved most is the warm friendly staff and soft jazzy atmosphere. Really enjoyed my lunch, got to catch my breath during a very busy day.

  • Yuven Naidoo

Awesome staff, awesome coffee, awesome vibe. Just awesome. I have always loved their breakfast but was not too fond of their pasta. The others in our party seemed to like the pizza and the vegan options.
