Where do I begin...if your looking for a place to take your beloved companion and want to feel confident that they will get the care they so deserve. Then perhaps you should see for yourself how truly incredible Scenic Acres Vet Clinic is. They took the time for “us”. Something that just seems to lack in our world today. Can’t thank them enough for their kindness and patience. Our Beautiful Puppy Girl has had a rough go the first 18 months of her life thus far. Up until recently we had only been taking her to hospitals due to her difficulties. We had been looking for a small private practice for quite some time when a neighbour recommended this lovely place. The Clinics welcoming and calm environment was perfect for our precious Girl. By coming here we have at least helped our Girl with the anxieties of going to see the Doc. Something that was becoming a terrible stressor we absolutely needed to eliminate from her world. Basically Scenic Acres has fantastic service all round. Dr. Forester left maternity leave to come in for our first consult spending an hour and a half with us and examining our girl. The Dr. had our Pups file sent over prior to our apt. so she could go over it and she did. Our first experience had informative communication about our Pups conditions and their professional approach to future treatments. Dr. Forester was very knowledgeable and offered detail explanations and practical advice. Loved the conversation with her. Her experience showed and instilled confidence! She truly cares about each pet that walks through their doors. (To think she came in to see us having only had her baby weeks prior...) Having invested so much elsewhere with no answers to help our Girl. We are so grateful for their ethical practice and kind heart. Dr. Haakstadd took over our Pups case as Dr. Forester was still on maternity leave but she is simply amazing in every way as well, always welcoming and attentive on our visits. The two Ladies at the front desk and in the back multi tasking are just as pleasant. Each time we come in or call the staff is so welcoming and sweet, they always put a smile on our faces and handle our Girl with great care. It is clear this team is well trained by great leaders and have created a lovely culture. We are thankful for each of you, your patience, honesty and integrity is refreshing and appreciated. Thank you so much for taking care of our Girl and her parents for that matter, from the bottom of our hearts - we thank you!! You’re making such a difference in so many lives! They have all been a blessing.
My elderly dog recently had surgery (full mouth extraction) here. We take her here for minor issues as well. This clinic absolutely excels at communication, honesty, and financial understanding. Going into the surgery they gave us options including a referral to a clinic with a more specialized doctor. They informed us of all the risks of this operation, and their policies. We got a quote that showed how the cost broke down (meds, anaestetic, labour) BEFORE deciding to go with them, it came with a low end and a high end and they made sure not to go over the high end. After the surgery they gave us a sheet full of instructions written specifically for my dog and called the next day to check that she was doing alright. Its clear that that the vets care about my dogs wellbeing and understand that I am not someone with loads of money to spend. When examining an optional proceedure (a biopsy of a benign lump) they were honest about the fact that while it would help identify what exactly the lump is made of, it wouldnt have any really affect on my dog. This brings me to my next point, the vets here have been incredibly understanding of my financial situation. When prescribing medication they gave us only what they thought my dog would use. Consultations are not expensive at all, medications seem very reasonably priced, and the surgery itself was what youd expect to pay anywhere. They have NEVER pushed to sell us extras, or had us come in more frequently than necessary. They have only ever charged us for things that have been beneficial to my dog's health. Lastly (and most importantly) the surgery itself was really well done. She seems happier, her breath is better, her gums were put together in an aestetically pleasing way, all round excellent vet, I highly recommend them.
I found the vet Marian to be kind and good with the animals. But I think that the reception should be a bit more compassionate when one of their clients is in pain. I had to put down my yellow lab (who was only 9 years old) two days ago. I called to inform them and I felt that the receptionist was abrupt with me. I had asked some questions and I felt she was dismissive, "yes, yes". When I questioned her compassion, I felt she became defensive, "Well I have someone right in front of me!", so that means you can't take a few minutes to show someone some compassion? You have to shove them aside impatiently because you have business to attend to. If I was the client, I wouldn't mind if the receptionist was on the phone with someone else; often I've had to wait while the receptionist talked to someone else. Unless the receptionist was dealing with an emergency, I think it would have been kind to take a few even a minute to show comfort, or to ask for me to call back, or to so something to show compassion. And when someone is in a state of loss, instead of being defensive, show kindness and simply say, "I'm sorry for your loss", instead of getting snippy and impatient. To me, that is sickening. Someone's dear animal, their family member, died two days ago from aggressive cancer and the receptionist gets impatient and abrupt with them, "Well, I have someone here in front of me!", instead of being kind. I felt that the receptionist that worked December 18, 2015 at noon, was not being kind in my opinion.
Every member of my family has brought their pets to this clinic for at least the last 15 years. I have never had a negative experience with a single staff member here. They are friendly and compassionate and clearly care about the wellbeing of our animals and in my opinion are willing to go above and beyond to assist you in making sure your animal is receiving the correct treatment for their condition. One of our pets had a weird reaction to air fresheners and the vet actually took the time to come by and figure out exactly what it was he was allergic to. Then, years later, when another dog of ours developed a heart condition they let me stop by once a week to listen to her lungs and adjust her medications to ensure I had as much time left with her as possible. I have so many more examples of situations where the staff here have been fantastic but I’ll settle for just saying - you should bring your pets here, you’ll never regret it.
I lived in Calgary for a year (during covid) to finish up my degree. My senior cat started struggling to eat and I searched for a local vet clinic based on reviews, and wow, I got lucky. Dr. Marian and the team helped me discern that her struggles eating were because she needed some fairly significant dental work - which I was nowhere near being able to afford. I came to be on a first-name basis with Terri-Lynn and Julia at the front desk before too many emails & phone-calls. They helped me find a way to avoid putting down my baby to keep her from being in constant pain, helped me find support to be able to cover the dental work that was needed and work within my budget. I don't think I'd still have my cat if not for their efforts and I'm thankful for it daily. I'm back home now, but if I could've, I would've moved this vet clinic home with me. Calgary, you're sure lucky to have these gems.
I will get straight to the point…. Dr. Marian Forrester and her team at Scenic Acres Veterinary Clinic are the best vets in the whole of Calgary!! They are AMAZING!! They have taken care and looked after our cats since 2007 when we moved to Calgary! Even though I live nearby I would travel 1-2 hours if needed! I’m so thankful we found Marian - we would never go anywhere else! Marian and her team are friendly, trustworthy, compassionate, kind and thorough but most of all they 100% care about each and every animal! Their level of service and knowledge is outstanding and they go above and beyond every time to make sure your pets are getting the right care, whether it is treatment, diet or overall health. I would definitely recommend Scenic Acres as the no.1 veterinary clinic to go to when caring for your pets! Check them out – you won’t regret it!
I have been going to this veterinary clinic for the last 8 years and I find everyone there to be excellent at their jobs. Marion the vet is delightful and very knowledgeable and will work within your means (as I am often on a tight budget, so I can't always do everything recommended). Both receptionists are very friendly and helpful. I often feel like I'm chatting with friends as they'll ask how my 2 cats are, as well as my baby and husband. Even when things are stressful with my cats (one gets sick often), they put me at ease and explain things well for me, as well as prioritize costs.
The vet would not see clients owners even after Covid. When phoned for an emergency staff said vet was booked and could not get in for 2 weeks to a month. Due to a very sick puppy I could not get to see this vet for about 7 occasions. After the last occasion the vets staff phoned and told me to go to someone else. As there are few vets taking clients at this time this again left me with a sick puppy and no vet service. She said I should have gone to a different vet than the one I had seen. Wow I am devastated.
I’ve been taking my Toy Pomeranian (Harley) to this clinic for most of my little mans life. They treated him, and me, like family. They were always honest with me about his health, lose weight, weight is good, “teeth need to come out Brenda”...... Terry-Lynn I owe you a sincere apology regarding the way I told you he passed. I was still pretty numb and lost myself. You have always been so good, kind and very loving. I will be forever grateful for the warmth and caring you all showed both of us❣️
I have a senior cat who recently required dental surgery and had to get many teeth removed. Dr. Forrester and her team spent a lot of time reviewing and explaining test results with me and were extremely compassionate and diligent from start to finish. When it came time for the surgery they took excellent care of my baby and followed up to make sure she was doing okay. I would highly recommend this veterinary clinic to anyone, even if you don’t live in the area, it’s worth the drive!
This vet clinic is a few minutes from my house, but even if it wasn't, I would drive across the city to get to them and their level of knowledge, service and care. I've brought in my dog several times to Dr. Forrester and her wonderful team and they really go the extra mile. Not only are they knowledgeable and available, this is the kind of place where they know your pet by name, remember quirks, troubles and help your pet on a personalized basis. An amazing place!
Our 13 year old Chocolate Lab has been going to Scenic Acres Vet Clinic since she was a puppy. Great people and great at explaining things in a way a layperson can understand. Earlier this week our Lab had been having bowel issues; I called at about 4:00 PM and they had Calypso in at 5:20! Great service, treatment is working well and she's back to normal THANK YOU!!! If you're looking for a great Vet Clinic, this is the one to choose!
This clinic is knowledgable, personable and genuine. There is no conveyor-belt care here - Dr. Forrester and the front desk are there for the pets and not just a pay cheque, which has been our experience with some other clinics we've been to. Dr. Forrester is patient, kind, and never patronizing. A class act! Our family recommends the Scenic Acres Vet Clinic to every pet owner who loves their pet.
Going to the vets is no longer a daunting experience for our dogs. The team here are truly passionate, caring and really get to know their patients & families and this is certainly no conveyer belt service like some of the bigger practices. Thank you Dr. Marion, Terri-Lynn & Julia. We would have no hesitation recommending Scenic Acres Veterinary Practice.
I have been using this vet since my Sadie was 5 in 2012. She has had many issues and Dr. Forrester and staff were always friendly and provided excellent service always. Today my little girl was put to sleep, and Dr. Forrester was so compassionate it was so helpful for what we went through. Thanks to her and the staff. I totally recommend this Vet Clinic.
Dr. Forrester took excellent care of our little senior Pomeranian for the past 12 years, from the time we moved to Calgary to when he finally went to doggy heaven. The clinic was always so kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable - they were everything we could ask for in a vet team. We will miss the team now that our little guy is gone.
We have brought several of our lovable dogs here over the last 10+ years and we have always had excellent service. We always feel like they care about us and our pets while doing their best to keep the costs down as much as possible. We will continue to use Scenic Acres Veterinary Clinic as our vet of choice.
The staff is extremely pleasant and knowledgable, but my only and largest complaint is that they've been at least 20 to 25 minutes late each time I've gone in for an appointment. Otherwise, they're very pleasant and good to my kitten :)
We've come to this clinic for years, they are always friendly and professional. The staff and doctors have always done an amazing job when our pets have needed care. Please remember they are a local vet clinic, not an emergency clinic.
Dr. Forrester is amazing! Even when an issue occurred with my dog over the weekend and I had to take my dog elsewhere, she still called to check-up after she received the faxed paperwork. I love this clinic!
I would strongly recommend Scenic Acres Vet Clinic to everyone who has a pet . Absolutely adore Dr Forrester and her clinic staff . The clinic is very friendly , competent and compassionate .
This is the best vet I have ever been too. She is so caring for both my beautiful fur babies. They always have time for your concerns whether it's in person or on the phone. 10/10
This is my second visit there, as I have 2 new kittens. Everyone has been so nice and very informative. I am very glad I have chosen this location for the care of my kittens.
I would recommend going to this practice. There is a consistent policy of over vaccination and generally costs are higher than other surrounding vets.
Great vet that really cares about the animals that come in. I'm very happy that I can bring my cat here and feel like she is in very good hands.
Always really attentive to your needs and flexible. I've been coming to them for over a decade now and the level of service has never changed.
Incredible! Very gentle and kind to my dogs. She explained every detail to me and answered my questions thoroughly. Well priced too!
Dr. Forrester is simply amazing! Her staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this clinic.
Personal, friendly, professional care. It’s a pleasure for the pets and the owners
Great treatment, very knowledgeable and professional. Treats you like family.
