The proprietress in this post office behaves as if she is doing you a favour in a very aggressive manner with a condescending tone. I go there regularly because it is convenient. This morning I needed to buy an envelop for 60p before sending off my document next day delivery. As we are now encouraged as a country to do card rather than cash transaction, I usually simply walk with my debit card in my pocket. Their policy is that you pay for stationery at the front before using the post office service at the back. I explained that I needed to do two transactions - buy the envelop and mail off the document to which she responded "pay for envelop here, mail at the back". She then proceeded to loudly and angrily rant that she would allow me to transact a card payment for the 60p envelop just this once. I did not appreciate her attempts to belittle me with her tone. I thought that a direct debit card was as good as cash. If she was concerned about accepting an individual 60p transaction then she could have suggested that I do both transactions with her at the front as she does at times transact post office business from the front register. I would just like to remind the owners that without customers they would have no business. I am very happy to take my business elsewhere and would recommend a course in customer service for that shopkeeper. Surely for an essential service such as the Post Office there must be regulations, guidelines and standards in place for persons operating these premises. With so many Post Offices having been closed in the last decade, choice is limited within certain mile radius if you are on foot. I would think that Post Office Ltd or UK Government Investment or whichever body oversees this sector have systems in place to ensure that such rogue operating practices do not go unchecked in such a vital public service. One star is much more than this post office deserves but I am unable to post the review otherwise.
Rude and Unhelpful Staff I was asking him basic questions about international mailing. e.g. the difference between economic and standard shipping for a letter. He gave me a look which says I was asking him something unreasonable and insane. He just gave me a leaflet, briefly gave me a answer which I found out later that is incorrect, gesturing me to go. Note that there was only one person at the queue at that time. After I read through the leaflet once and came back to him, I showed him that there is indeed economic mailing and standard mailing. He then just said: I don't know, like I told you. First, shouldn't he be at least a little bit apologetic that he doesn't have a clue about such basic matter? Isn't he supposed to know about such simple stuff? If I knew the answer for sure myself, I could be the staff there. He should be ashamed of himself that as a staff at a post office, he has no clue what a "standard shipping" is. Second, what's wrong with his face? Is this the way a customer should be treated? Third, couldn't he be a bit more helpful? Instead of just giving me a leaflet, couldn't he try to find out what a "standard shipping'' is? Or maybe ask for help from other staff? I will never use their service.
I've been using various Royal Mail branches for years and know the prices very well for my business. This year, this branch got new owners and they are awful. A few weeks back I saw them trying to overcharge a guy to send abroad. Instead of it costing around £25, they wanted closer to £60. Today, I was charged £8 for a £3.50 item to Northern Ireland. When questioned about it, the owner sheepishly blamed it on his computer. I then complained and then he backed down and refunded me the difference from the till. His computer also miraculously showed the cheaper price and enabled him to print out a new stamp. Had I been naive then I would have lost money. It's only pennies and financially isn't a big deal...but this is not very professional at all. At the same time, this office has the cheek to put up shoplifter posters on their door as if what they're doing is somehow morally beneath what the owners are doing...
Would give no stars if I could. Service was horrendous. I don't normally leave reviews, but the multiple times I have used this post office (as it is the closest and most convenient), I have been greeted with rude staff that have no customer service or communication skills. Both the younger and older male staff and the women who works there are rude and just glare at you. Went to deliver parcels, where I was lied to and shouted out by the older man, as he claimed they didn't do the services their store location was advertised to (from royal mail site), but he quickly changed his tune when I said this to him. During the whole transaction and experience I was glared at by all three of them and spoken to like rubbish. Would recommend spending your money and posting parcels from another store if you can afford the time to go to another post office close by.
I have been in that post office twice and received appalling service on both occasions from the elderly guy who works in there. First time I walk in and join the que. It's towards end of day and was last in the que. As I am about to be served he starts SHOUTING (several times) to the young gentleman who was about to serve me that they're closed. Second occasion I stand in a "que" behind a gentleman for about 5 minutes whilst they're having a social conversation and this guy is clearly acting like I am invisible. Another customer of another race walks in and he quickly dismisses his "friend" saying there are customers he needs to serve. Probably I was too dark for him to see me!!!
The timings are incorrect. The post office is open between 12pm and 5pm which I have never come across before. The departmental store inside the post office opens at 8 am but not the post office. So don’t get fooled by the opening and closing times on the website. This could be a temp arrangement but is causing a lot of inconvenience to people who work and can’t use the post office between 12 and 5 pm. I did visit the post office at 12 pm and was treated rudely by this middle-aged man. I have raise a complaint with the post office. Moreover, I got to know from the parcel sender that the selly oak post office refused to take my parcel and it was returned to the sender.
Terrible experience here. Worst customer service and very unprofessional. Violates confidentiality as well. Woman at the desk tried to scam me to pay for redelivering my Royal Mail package to the post office when it is not in their policy to do that. When I challenged her request she backed down and knew she was in the wrong. I also needed to post a parcel and the woman kept sending me back and forth to the other counter 3 times. Terrible customer service. She also handed me a thick book to try and find my name myself when they should be providing that service to their customers as it’s exposing other customers name and addresses - violating confidentiality.
The lady behind the till treated me so badly because of the colour of my skin I asked her the price of some crisps she snatched them from me and said there out of date then carried on stacking the shelf's then a english man came in and she was so nice to him saying I won't be long to see to you then he nearly trip over some drinks that she had on the floor and she was rushing to help him while I'm waiting to get somethink else. I will not be going in there ever again that's for sure ever one should be treated equal regardless of where your from. If I could do a zero score I would but Google don't let you.
I KNOW IT IS DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF LACK OF POSTOFFICES AROUND BUT AVOID THIS ONE they BELIEVE SWEARING AT THE CUSTOMER IS OK. JUST WENT IN TO POST SOMETHING AND THE GUY IN FRONT HAD NO SELLOTAPE, THE PERSON BEHIND THE COUNTER ACTUALY SWORE AT HIM. PROBABLY BURNING BECAUSE HE DIDNT BUY THE £2 SELLOTAPE FOR A TINY PACKAGE. THEY THINK BECAUSE THEY ARE BEHIND THE COUNTER THEY CAN SAY WHAT EVER THEY WANT, NOT WORRIED ABOUT CUSTOMER SEVICE BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT MONEY IS PAYING THEM 80KPLUS, REGARDLESS. THEY TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF ON TOP OF THAT WITH EXTORTIONATE PRICES. GREEDY NASTY PEOPLE
Don't bother using this Post Office, go to another even if it's further away! Staff are rude, lazy and actively unhelpful. Been here several times and the service is always dreadful. Man behind the counter refused to take my parcel despite the fact that the correct postage had already been paid for and it was well within all limits and restrictions. Staff glare at you as you come in and are so unprofessional and confrontational when you ask for help. I never normally post reviews, but this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced and a complete waste of my time.
The rudest staff I've encountered. The place is filthy. The stuff is out of date. You stand there and no one acknowledges you. Post office is always closed. I fell over the metal food holder today and managed to save myself from almost breaking my ankle.. it should seriously have a safety warning. If I could give this place zero stars I would. The previous owners weren't to clever but my god service was a lot better.. they obviously have no customer service skills, your made to feel like an uninvited guest. From today I'm totally boycotting this place. ....
There's abit of bad reviews of this place, but in 10 years of working nearby and using it, I've never had a problem. Often it's very busy especially during Covid circumstances, but the staff are efficient and the queues go quickly. Staff have always been pleasant and polite, offering a range of postal options. Provides everything you could want from a post office really. Highly recommended **This post office is under new management!** - please be patient with the new staff during the transition - - queue may take slightly longer during busy hours.
If you manage to avoid the woman who usually works behind the shop counter by the door (who will be glaring at you as you walk past), you'll find the man who usually works behind the post office counter is rather sullen. But if you do encounter her, you should expect to find out the hard way why he's likely so unhappy. It's worth going out of your way to use one of the surrounding post offices rather than this one. If it's the shop you want, the convenience store next door gets much better reviews.
i went in on a friday, was told to come back before 3pm on the next day to collect a parcel. i came around 12pm on saturday, i spoke to a man who tried to find my parcel and couldn’t; he then told me to come back 2 hours later. i said i couldn’t due to me leaving birmingham that day. low and behold what does he pull out 2 seconds later? my parcel! a place that would rather make someone wait 2 hours than look for longer than a minute for a parcel.
My god the Post Office standards have really slipped, the shop looks a mess outside and inside is worse. The post office side is closed and it’s a death trap to traverse the stationary side. Post office work is done from the small shop counter which is littered with rubbish and racks. You stand 5 feet from the assistant who is behind a Perspex screen and has a very timid voice. A very disastrous experience, no wonder you’re going down the tubes.
I don’t even want to give 1 star to this service or this new Management. They deserve zero star. The guy in the inner window is impatient, rude, arrogant and have literally no sense to deal with customers. Moreover he take plenty of time to do a transaction. Moreover I recommend don’t deposit cash here, everytime the amount decreases when he counted. Hope this review will be considered by relevant authorities and might look after these concerns.
Rakesh Saroj is an excellent post master. He has been the post master for Selly Oak for a long time. He is always ready to help, always cheerful, he knows all the different things which post managers are required to do, it's not an easy job. The post office in Selly Oak is always busy, but the service is as fast as it can be and and always accurate.. We all greatly appreciate his ceaseless work. He is always friendly and never absent.
Such a bad experience visiting this place for the first time! The man at the counter was so rude and impolite! Asked a question about the D1 form and he literally tried to shoo me away by saying read the form (despite me saying I have done that already!). Its not his lack of knowledge but his arrogant behaviour that was a day spoiler! Hope Post Office UK is taking a note of this review (and similar ones) and take appropriate actions!
This is a filthy run down shop! It's such a shame, it used to be a nice friendly shop. The post office counter is always piled high with loose parcels and you have to go to the shop till for any postal services. The shop is decorated with photos of shoplifters and piles of cardboard on top of the ATM by the door which is a fire hazard. The fridges don't work and the floor is filthy! Post Office customers deserve better than this!
Very bad and worst service. There is one old guy which have no idea to deal and speak with customers. This post office is a complete disaster. The staff was rude, unprofessional, and downright disrespectful. The products were of terrible quality, and some were even damaged. It felt like a complete waste of money, and I regret ever setting foot in this place. Save your time and money and avoid this post office at all costs.
I read the reviews before going to this post office and it made me quite worried cz a lot of people wrote how rude the staff/owner was. But when I went there today, the staff was really kind and helpful. I rarely write a review like this, but I write it now cz I want people to know that not all the staff there are rude; there's kind staff too.
Overcharged me with shipping costs. My item was weighed at 128 grams. Instead of listing it as a large letter (Royal Mail states items lower than 750 grams count as a large letter) he listed it as a small parcel so I had to pay nearly £5 for shipping second class for a very small item. Also took very long to serve customers. DO NOT GO HERE.
Genuinely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Incredibly rude staff who couldn’t be bothered to spend two minutes looking for a parcel in their clearly not very well organised heap. After waiting 15 minutes I was asked to look for it myself and found it in about 20 seconds. I would advise you to send your parcels elsewhere.
Single handedly the WORST post office I’ve ever been to but at least they are consistent with this. Woman behind the counter is the rudest individual I have ever come across I can’t tell if she hates people or just black people man at the post office is lovely but the woman really ruins this place. It’s a shame …
Had some communication problems on my first visit to get ID documents certified, but the postmaster was very accommodating on a second visit and agreed to certify an up-to-date document of mine for no extra charge. Till staff have been very patient with me using the printing services and sorting out the certification.
Terrible service, also seems to only take cash. Miserable lady behind the main counter and a man who is just as miserable behind the Post Office counter. If you value your time and sanity do not use this shop and go elsewhere. Something seriously needs to be done about the appalling "service" that is offered here.
Ok well yes a bit slow but a family run business . Get over it you lot . I posted two parcels to Scotland from there . AND OMG they got them the next day . . Now my friend in Scotland thinks Brum postal is he best . Now I’ve had something sent from Scotland Monday got Tues forwork . Soo what’s going on ??
Used this post office a while ago and the lady was so rude I haven't been back since. The guy was quite friendly although a little moody at times. Past through that area and saw someone else locking up. I'm guessing the previous owners must have retired by now and sold up, maybe i'll start using it again.
I had an interesting experience with the post office this Saturday. I went to the post office at 3pm, I asked if I can use the travel money service, and I was told that the manager is away , and that I should come back after 5pm. I was very confused, not sure if this is a business or something else.
unhappy with the service as I've had half my letters sent to my address for no reason, when it clearly says "to" and "from" on the envelope. this was on two different occasions (i only used them like 3 times). also, opening hours are useless for people working 9-5, so can't even go to complain...
Guy behind the counter asked me to pay for redirecting my royal mail parcel to the post office. When I challenged and refused to pay he said i will not be able to redirect my parcels there unless I paid. Terrible customer service and scam to ask people to pay for collecting their parcels.
The lady is so rude that works there and just talks to people in the worst way when asked questions that are part of her job? People only use this post office out of convenience because otherwise they would’ve been out of business a long time ago. Disgusting customer service
Wouldn't even give them one stars, They are single handedly the worst post office i have been to. The staff are rude, take forever to serve customers, impatient and aggressive. They have no customer skills and they rip customers off with the price of printing things. AVOID!!
Ordered a parcel to be delivered to this post office as it came up as an Amazon Hub Counter. Told by Amazon later that the delivery was going back to them as a "Customer refused delivery". What's the point of signing up for services that you have no intention of providing?
The Post office itself is adequate, however if you want to purchase items they do not accept card payments which during this period of time is unacceptable due to government guidelines and even smaller businesses are able to, so for this shop not to is no excuse really.
Literally the worst post office I have ever been to. Tried to take one pre-paid parcel there which needed to go before 1pm but they refused it, even though I was instructed to take it to the post office for dispatch. Staff were really rude.
The woman in there is HORRIBLE, worst 10 minutes of my life trying to send a parcel with her yelling at you for not doing anything. I also sent a parcel and my buyer (who has 5 star reviews) is saying they have not received it.
Extremely slow service. Two guys running it, they don’t even open the post office window. They stand at the sales counter. Lots of customers waiting and they’re on their phone having a social chat. Ridiculous service.
The man at the inner counter is super impatient to customer, being rude and irritating. Also he does not know his job well enough, did my two parcels by mistake. Such a simple thing took me so long to sort them out.
Agree with post below Asian man behind the counter is very rude. Always trying to get customers who know little about shipping costs to pay the maximum/rips people off. Is very sarcastic when you ask him a question
Very very rude staff at post office, I was welcomed with the question "what do you want?", didn't even wait to finish my question, and said "speak to royal mail, we are not royal mail". Zero stars would be too much
Update: Been waiting 20mins while they serve 1 customer, yes I have downgraded from 3 stars to 1. Staff are slower than a sloth. However they do have competitive prices on items within the store.
I CANNOT believe how rude they have been to my girlfriend. Left her in tears. The woman just Huffs and sighs whenever she is asked to do HER JOB! HOW ON EARTH CAN THIS BUSINESS KEEP RUNNING.
Place is a joke ! Went here to collect a package the guy told me I had to come back ?? With no sort of explaining literally end of discussion. Don’t get anything delivered here they are rude
Was refused a proof of postage receipt because of the 'costs' (presumably the paper and ink). Can't imagine there are many other Post Offices that don't provide this basic service.
I had visited the post office last week to send a package. The service was amazing and specially remember Mr Ron who helped me out and was done with ease. Service was amazing
when i tried to purchase an envelope, the receptionist told me cash only. Great.i have to change a post office, and the office accepts card. …
Extremely rude asian female staff member with an attitude. She snatches things from customers who are waiting in the queue. Extremely unprofessional.
Very Rude staff , the guy just told me he's busy and hang up on me!! If they can't handle pressure then best they close down!!Not happy at all!!!!
The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Best part is they are open till 8pm, where every other post offices shut at 5.
Unbelievable service in every way shape and form. I was in there 15 minutes just for 2 simple transactions. What a dump
The manager is not in branch till 2.30pm… But other staffs were very helpful. Not the best place to mail something out
The post office is in fact closed already and it’s not 1pm yet they pick and choose when they open and when they don’t
The timings given here are wrong.Went there saturday noon and they asked me to come back on a monday as ita closed.
Excellent services and very helpful staff and post master. New management doing very well and improving service’s.
They have been very kind! It was my first time sending an envelope and they were very helpful from start to end :3
Awful. Since it changed ownership it has become dirty and tidy, unorganised and severely understaffed!! Avoid !!!
The stuff are rude for no reason and are not helpful at all. Weoley castle post office is much better staff-wise
Easy to find and easy to access as well as it have wheelchair access. You can use a free pen inside for posts.
I have visited this post office a few times now, and EACH TIME, I have only received a professional service.
I've previously had a bad experience here but this post office has improved over the last couple of years
Unfit people for customer service very unprofessional I don't recommend anyone going to this place …
The lady that works in this place is such a horrible person! Rude and talks to you in a aggressive way.
Awful experience and the guy behind the post office counter is incredibly rude and doesn't give a damn
New staff are absolutely great and genuinely seem like they want to help. Much needed change!
The gentleman working at the front desk was very helpful, understanding and friendly!!
Staff are really friendly, especially Ronn provides good customer service and support.
What an amazing service with the best staff especially Ronn saved the day today
Great place, the staff Ronn was very friendly and helpful with him service.
The new owner is really rude, the way he deals with people is really bad!
What a rude guy! Probably will use the private parcel service next door
Not open until 10pm, despite what Google and The Post Office say.
Good experience, convenient location, good till staff at front.
Gets the job done if you don't mind the sometimes terse staff.
The manager was accommodating in solving my package problem.
Thank you for your excellent service! Super speedy!
