"My son took his most loved cat there in an emergency,he was told te cat needed a surgery,he left the cat there with a heavy heart ,later on he called the vet and was told that the cat had 3 surgeries but he could go to pick him up at lunch time ! So my son went there and brought the cat home with loads of medication and special food ! Soon he got home we realized that the cat was in a lot of pain and the problem was still there! Called them again and they told us to keep an eye on him and if he was still the same to take him back! Do we did take him back because all we wanted was to treat him so he could be healthy and playful again! When we got there all they could talk about was money, they told my son to pay £1000 more to do another surgery, let me just say that was the same surgery they have done before ( bit dodgy) or he could pay £20"

"Disappointed with the service, I took my puppy in to see the vet as he was sick, not eating and very distant and scared his vitals were checked and everything was ‘okay’ but when I got home I noted my poor pup had a tick on him which was a little traumatic to take out for both myself and my pup as I had no idea what I was doing"

Selsdon Vets, you claim to be 'reliable' and offer 'the highest standard of pet health care' but after four years with you I can say you are anything but these. After being with these guys for 4 years, and several mistakes later, it's time to find a better vet. Here's what has happened: 1. A very 'trusted' vet gave my dog the wrong vaccine. 2. This same vet then failed to identify a grasshopper in my dog's ear, but was charged about £90 anyway. A year later, after wondering why he kept scratching his ear we went back, saw another vet, this vet did a great job at checking, and found one grasshopper in each side of his ears, they did an operation and was charged around £85, why the first consultation was waay more expensive, I will never know. Yes, my dog had a grasshopper stuck in his ear for a year. 3. I requested a stool test for my dog, called in to Selsdon and asked for the details to be emailed to me- never received it, called into Warlingham- received straight away. 4. I went in to give in my dog's 3 day stool sample- they forgot to send it off. 5. Gave in my second stool sample to Warlingham vets because Selsdon didn't seem very trustworthy anymore, and I was told that the stool samples needed to be in 3 different pots, even though I had ASKED Selsdon and they told me they all needed to be in one. 6. Here's to the 3rd stool sample and a new Vet! If you are to go with these guys, I've found Warlingham vets to explain things a lot better however as they are the same vet group there are definitely certain vets to avoid!

If you love your animal avoid this vet! I had an emergency after my cat got out of the window and fell from my 4th floor flat. From the moment I walked into that vet and the nurse took him, I could sense that I was about to be milked for my money! I paid just over £1000 for an X-ray and had to borrow the money and then they wanted an extra £10.5k to give him surgery on 2 legs, then they went on to say that if I can’t pay it then the only other option is euthanasia due to my animals welfare - by the way my cat wasn’t even one years old at this point so otherwise very healthy! It almost felt as though this vet was not going to let me take my cat unless I pay to have him put to sleep or pay the the £10.5k for surgery! It didn’t feel right and I was right to feel that way. I ended up taking him to the blue cross where you genuinely feel like the vets care for the animals well being.. I was quoted £6k for a repair from a specialist (which selsdon vets told me £10.5k is the best price I’ll find)! It makes you feel sick that a organisation will take advantage of the fact you love your animal.. that was the first and last time I’ll step foot in that place. My cat is on the road to recovery thankfully and I’m glad I listened to my instincts. On a side note, there was one vet in there who seemed to genuinely care, she was only there when I went to collect my cat though and she gave me a bit more advise after I refused to pay £10.5k or put my cat down.

Its very sad that this vet is all about the money and do not care!!! I help injured, sick and dying wildlife and this morning I picked up a fox that was dying a slow death in the Selsdon area and clearly needed euthanising. I drove past this vets and went in saying that I appreciated that they most likely would be busy and could leave the fox in my cage until they had time to euthanize. The receptionist looked a bit puzzled and I later found out that she was new so I explained that vets have a duty of care and in fact are obliged only to relieve suffering i.e. provide pain relief or euthanasia. I dont blame her for not believing me and went to speak to the vets and when she came back the receptionist asked who would pay!!! No one and it is insulting for this to be asked as it is part of their duty of care to wildlife. Infact if I found an injured cat and brought it in would they not treat until finances had been paid? The vet came and while I was explaining what had happened she stood there grinning at me, which to be honest was unnerving and made me feel she was not taking the situation seriously. When she did speak she was rude by starting to say "now that you are letting me speak...". To be honest I would not want anyone there to help me or the fox and was very lucky that another vet was able to help. Very sad the one and only time I came to ask for help and found out that it was all about the money!!

Even knowing that the pet was in a lot of pain all we could hear from them was money, money, money! Suddenly they told us that the best thing was to put him down Please if you love your pet AVOID AVOID AVOID this clinic We are now crying for the lost of our beloved cat and with a massive bill to pay to the vet! They don’t care about the pets ,all they care about is the money you are going to pay!

Disappointed with the service, I took my puppy in to see the vet as he was sick, not eating and very distant and scared his vitals were checked and everything was ‘okay’ but when I got home I noted my poor pup had a tick on him which was a little traumatic to take out for both myself and my pup as I had no idea what I was doing. I even listed his symptoms to the vet and it was never mentioned as a possibility. The next day my pup was worse with his sickness but having already paid £60 to be told he was fine I didn’t trust going back in and managed myself at home think I’ll be searching for a new vets…. Sad really the vet I saw was nice but in this instance not helpful

First visit with my cat since moving to the area. The door was locked on arrival but the reception staff were quick to let me in. I wasn't waiting long before a lovely vet came out for a consultation. She took my cat into the room without me, to maintain social distancing. Whilst I was waiting, other people were asked to wait outside in the car park so there weren't too many people in the building at any given time. All in all, good service and good value!

Vet Flo was very patient with both myself, and my v nervous dog Poppy. She was marvelous with her. Pop does not like any strangers, but allowed Flo to do examin her, eventually, and then operate on her. She explained everything involved with operation. I. Am v happy with all the staff at both Warlingham and Selsdon vets, all friendly and helpful.

The receptionist today looked positively scared when I arrived (it could’ve been my hair & face mask!) and didn’t smile at me once during our £60+ visit. Been coming here for years and its really upset me - customer service is paramount. However the vets are good, in particular Snr Vet Friday & Jacqui who’ve done so much great surgery on my dog.

I'm not registered at this practice but I had a poorly hamster and as it was Sunday I rang to see if they could help. I spoke to Laura who was wonderful and made me an appointment to bring her in an hour later. The vet was lovely and gave her medication and we were back home by 10.30. I can't thank them enough

  • Lynda

Absolutely the best! When I moved into the area, I tried all of the local vets. I found Selsdon Veterinary Centre to be the best. We had an emergency with one of our cats and we brought him in at closing time. All of the staff stayed on and were able to save his life! I will never bring my cats anywhere else.

  • Jamie T

We had to get our Cody spade. We had already been going here for his checkups since we got him. The staff a very friendly. They have separate seating area for cats and dogs. It's a necessary evil for anyone with pets so it's nice to be able to go to somewhere you trust. Always somewhere to park add well.

  • Izzy

I used them to put both a dog and a budgie to sleep at separate times and both times the staff were great during what were very emotional visits for me. It's not the cheapest, but they were very easy to arrange time sensitive appointments with so I certainly won't complain.

  • Jane Reeves

Absolutely brilliant with my anxious dog who was feeling very uncomfortable due to an allergy. Lovely, caring staff. Very reasonable fees. A quiet environment. So happy to have found this vets. My dog was much more comfortable within hours of his treatment starting.

  • Uma McCluskey

Great practice who saw my dog on the weekend after as an emergency, not my usual place. They were friendly and helpful. The waiting area is a bit too small for my anxious dog hence 4 stars other than that my experience was great!

  • Babs Ogilvie
