Extremely poor customer service, rude managers, and absolutely no regard for customers. Management just as bad as front desk. I purchased a $2,000+ dining table. Had to wait 10 weeks for delivery and got the wrong table (colour was the opposite of what we ordered and looks completely off in our house). I asked them to make it right and offer me a discount, store credit, faster delivery or really anything as the new table would be another 10 to 12 weeks. They blatantly refused and the manager was aggressive and threatening to me. He went as far as to say he won't do anything and I am being unreasonable and that it's "OK for him to be rude" to me as I am being "unreasonable" for asking for something. This is absolutely verbatim - his words. My time has been wasted and so has the opportunity cost of my money for over 4 months (i.e. I could have purchased something else or invested that money and received a return) and the store refuses to do anything. Cannot understand how businesses like this can stay in business with such bad customer service - i.e. the people who spend their hard earned money on their products and even when they make a mistake they are completely unrepentant. Their solution for my having to wait another 2+ months is that I use the wrong table that completely doesn't match my floors as the colour is the opposite and now my place looks terrible. I have asked for my money back and they will pick it up, but I am sure there is more to come of this drama. Do not trust them with your money or your confidence. There are tons of shops like them and people like this do not deserve the money you work so hard for.

I love this store for a number of reasons, first and foremost though: they carry only quality built furniture. My wife and I own several pieces (have shopped there pretty much exclusively since we found the store about 5 years ago). Super happy with all of it: again, top quality. We get compliments on our furniture all the time. Next reason I love them is their after sales service. I recently made the mistake of ordering a couch for my basement without measuring to ensure it would fit into the doorway and down the stairs. Totally my screw up, and they did ask when we purchased if we were sure it was going to fit. I was pretty confident it would (hey, I've seen some large items fit into smaller spaces - movers usually have a magical way to make it work). Unfortunately the delivery guys couldn't get it down there, no matter how they tried. The couch purchased was a final sale floor model, so by all rights it was mine to deal with. I called the store right away in hopes they'd help me out somehow. Not only did Richard at the store offer a few solutions that may work for me, he offered to take the couch back (despite it being final sale). When we went to the store to pick out something new (that would fit), he was beyond helpful! He even came up with a custom solution, as he knew I really wanted a big, deep seated couch. And of course, they also have an amazing selection in store for all tastes. If you care about quality and expect after sales service, Shelter is a safe bet!

I had a great experience here, my wife and I recently moved and we started from scratch furniture-wise. We looked at about 10 different places for outfitting the new place before we settled on Shelter. We got pretty much everything we needed from here, so spent a bit of money, and I was a bit concerned when reading through some of these negative reviews. The furniture itself is great, zero complaints about anything we purchased. We bought a couch, dining table, dining chairs, an armchair, a dresser, a tv media unit, a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting, and so far, it's all great. The delivery window we were given was accurate (maybe 2-3 days longer then the initial ETA) The staff were all super friendly and accommodating, no one was pushy or impatient. My ONLY complaint (and Shelter isn't really at fault here) is that the delivery company they used was unable to get the couch delivered into the living room, so I had them leave it in the condo hallway, called a professional moving company (cargo cabbie) and they were able to complete the job. Cost me extra, but is what it is.

The customer service here has been terrible. I ordered online and got a notification that the piece was ready for pickup very quickly. When we went to pick it up, we were told we had to go to the warehouse and were given very poor directions to the warehouse. The warehouse itself looked like it was out of a post apocalyptic movie, garbage everywhere, windows papered over, all in all a little terrifying. The pick-up went fine, but when we got it home and opened the box, the table was damaged. Okay, things happen, we emailed the store and explained and asked if they would deliver the replacement as I am immunosuppressed and would prefer not to venture out again. We were told that we would need to come and exchange it our self, they even attempted to blame us for not opening the box at the warehouse to inspect. I explained to the manager that it was not our fault and that it should be their responsibility to correct the mistake. I have offered to be flexible, but do not appreciate being blamed for a quality problem that is certainly not my fault.

BUYER BE AWARE!!!!!! My wife and I bought several pieces of furniture from this place. Installers were very bad in doing their work. I had to DO somethings myself, (missing screws on dresser and bed frame, overside drill holes on bed frame so the bed would squick). Lastly I called the store WHEN THE CENTRE SUPPORT OF THE BED FRAME BROKE IN HALF. I explained myself to customer service as above. I was told those installers are going go and I was over 3 months my manufacturer's warranty. Knowing that their installers were bad and let go within the time we bought our furniture, we were offered NO HELP. Now left with a squicky broken bed frame. DON'T DO IT. FURNITURES LOOK NICE BUT OFFER NO REAL HELP IN SOLVING PROBLEMS WHEN NEEDED AND NO WARRANTY THAT THE FURNITURE WOULD LAST!!!!!!!

Nice collection of furniture, but horrible customer service. I went to Shelter the past 2 weekends to find a couch. I saw one that I really liked last weekend and was told there's a no HST event going on until this Sunday. So I thought I would take the week to go to a few more stores to look around. I went back yesterday and talked to one of the salesperson. I was told there's no tax free event anymore, they only have a BOGO 50% off. I told him I was told otherwise last week, and not really interested in anything else. I asked what else he can offer if he can't include HST in the price. He told me listing price + HST + delivery in a very condescending manner. I had a much better experience shopping at Elte Market down the street who carried similar collections of furniture.

We were looking for a couch and knew what we wanted. Which was good because the sales guy wasn’t super helpful. When we asked about couches that were 19” in seat height he pulled out a tape measure and measured a couch and said this one is 15”. Then he said they range from 15” to about 19” and to look around. Which was probably best as we knew from our own couch exactly what an 19” couch looked like. Also I don’t mind looking on my own and not having someone looking over my shoulder. Anyway, unhelpful salesperson aside they did have decent prices and selection. We were there during their recent winter sale. The guy did finally help us set up delivery super quickly and was flexible with delivery time(although $150).

Their furntiture qualities varies, you should try your luck The furniture you buy may not be the same quality as the one in the show room. I had the worst experience ever! Their furniture quality is very poor and does not worth the high price. I first bought a dining table and they delivered a defect one and the store refused to give me the refund and I had to buy something else with store credit. (They would not return the delivery fee so I paid $80 for nothing). I ended up buying a sofa which took weeks to deliver. The sofa has feather fillings and there are always feathers coming out, very annoying. Too tired to deal with them and will never go there again. Hope my experience will not be repeated by others!

Poor experience - the sales guy Larsen said we would get our sofa within 6-8 weeks. When 6 weeks went by I followed-up and they said it's actually 8-10 weeks. He got a manager named Richard to speak to me, who then promised it within 8 weeks. Now it's been 10, and I still have not received the sofa. The value of my purchase is $3,000+, and now they are refusing to give a refund. Way to lock down customer's money, I hope they will not run away with my money. Avoid them at all costs. Edit: The seller now is saying there was a full refund offer in the response, but this was never offered to me, but instead they promised a new date, which they again missed.

The store owner was extremely rude when me and my friend visited the store this Sunday Nov 17 2019. We were checking some dining table when the store owner came and asked us if everything is OK. My friend replied that the table is nice but has a lot of scratches. The owner started to yell that this is how we try to negotiate the price and that it is not negotiable and that we should look for something else if it is expensive for us. We even did not think to negotiate anything yet. The store is overpriced , everything has "sale" tag but prices are still very high even with 50% off. Very bad experience and we don't recommend this place to anyone!

Wow! I was not expecting such an amazing customer service. We purchased a sofa and a chair from Shelter, MaryAnne was great, helpful and friendly. We picked up the sofa the next day and when we opened it up in our living room, we realized the sofa was very deep and big for our room so I contacted the store and explained the situation to Paulo. I had mentioned that I saw another sofa at the store and would like an exchange. Paulo didn't give me any hard time and even apologized that the couch didn't work for us. We brought the sofa back and exchanged it for the one we wanted. THANK YOU!!! My experience aside, their collection is amazing!

Absolutely terrible customer service. When we ordered our couch, we were told that we would receive it within 8 weeks and we ensured that we had the necessary arrangements to pick it up. The couch arrived over a month late at the worst possible time for us when we could no longer go pick up the couch due to personal circumstances. The store manager did absolutely nothing when we asked for a let on the shipping. I don't understand how places like this remain in business when they clearly don't value their customers to meet their commitments in a timely manner. I will never buy from them again and I'd advise others to do the same.

Honestly, I’m so disappointed with this store. I went in on the weekend and looked at a few sectionals. One of the sales reps quoted me a price on the sectional I liked and when I called back to get a formal quote, they totally changed the price on me. As in when I was quoted in the store, the price was 50% less than when I called to speak to the same sales person. The sales staff at this store lack total integrity. I can’t believe he had the audacity to tell me, that since I didn’t get a formal quote from him when I came to the store, I can’t prove that’s what he told me then. I will never buy anything from this shop!

Shelter Furniture deserves a much better rating here based on my recent experience with them over the past few months. First of all, they have a fantastic collection of lovely furniture and lighting peices. Staffs are super helpful, nice, and friendly. I received a chair and the sizing wasn't what I had in mind. They accepted me retunring it (the morning after) in exchange for a store credit which was very nice from the owner as it was a final sale item. They also helped me a lot going through lots of other options over multile visits to finally choose a new chair instead which I love.

SHE PICKED UP HER CHAIR EARLIER IN THE DAY AND APPARENTLY IT HAS A BENT LEG. I LEFT A VOICE MESSAGE LETTING HER KNOW MY HOURS, AND THAT WE CAN PROBABLY GET THERE TO PICK UP THE CHAIR NEXT WEEK AND THAT A REPLACEMENT FROM SUPPLIER WILL BE ON ITS WAY TO US SHORTLY. I JUST NEED THE IMAGES AND HAVE ASKED KIM TO E-MAIL ME SOME.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I have had the worst customer service of my life with this company. We ordered two lounge chairs in February, and they estimated delivery in 4-6 weeks. It's now July and I still don't have my chairs. They never call me to update me on order delays, and when I call for an update they say they will call back, and never do. This is an example of a staff that cannot manage orders, and are utterly useless on customer service. Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else.

Went into Shelter with little or no expectations. To our surprise they have a large selection of sectionals and sofas at reasonable prices. One of their best features, they clearly indicate if the furniture are available for quick delivery or not. The cons is in the limited or the no customization. For the quality most of their furniture are of good quality. We did nit make a purchase today since we did nit find what we want I turm of configuration.

Let this be a lesson for Shelter Furniture, in today's day and age, the way you treat people comes back to haunt you on the internet. I was actually going to spend ten thousand on some new furnishings for a new house and was going to go to Shelter today because I had liked their selection. After reading all of these reviews, I won't even stop there today. I'd much rather spend my money somewhere, where I will be viewed as a valuable customer.

Great mix of contemporary, stylish furniture in this location but not much in the way of 'deals' (yes, I am cheap). A bit disappointing. I was hoping Clearance would have a few more options. Furniture seems primarily made in China/India but there is definitely a range of quality. About 20 choices for bar stools alone. Well merchandised with a lot of ideas for your home. Few small accessories compared to Elte Mkt. Friendly, genuine service.

Operations manager Jason Baker went above and beyond to complete my order. While waiting for a final lamp, I moved across the country and didn't bother going to pick it up. Jason not only took the initiative to follow up with me, but he also made it a priority to ship my order all the way to Calgary. I am impressed with his tenacity and grateful for his excellent customer service. Good people make good business.

This store is great to pick up reasonably priced furniture with good lines, mid-quality level. They've got a broad selection of furniture for every room in your home -- living room suites, dining tables, chairs and sideboards and beds and bedroom suites. But what's the best thing? They have a huge selection of individual chairs marked down to fantastic prices. Worth checking out for sure.

Quite possibly the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. The sales associates and front desk staff are incredibly inconsiderate and couldn't care less about their level of service. They make customers go to their warehouse in a back alley instead of having an associate pick items up for customers. Strongly do not recommend shopping here.

Today I got my furniture delivered couldn’t have asked for better service. They were professional and amazing they called me first before coming and got to my place and brought my furniture in my house. Took all boxes with them and cleaned up. I was so happy with their guys and service. Thank you shelter for your great service.

Great customer service from our salesperson, she made suggestions without being pushy and kept us informed of sales and options. Furniture was delivered early in the day (didn't have to wait around all day for it) the delivery guys were awesome. Furniture is affordable and modern. Overall very happy with the experience there.

I can honestly not give enough praise for Shelter furniture and all that they do. Their team is so responsive and communicative, everything was delivered on time and set up properly. The quality of the furniture is fantastic - I've designed my whole condo with Shelter and I couldn't imagine it any other way.

I bought a solid wood cadenza and a solid wood table from Shelter last summer. It’s probably the best place in GTA to shop for living room furniture such as cadenza and dining table as they carry some very unique and high quality products for affordable prices. Not so many good options for bedroom though.

Store will soon be closing forever and they're celebrating their send-off with a retirement sale. Still lots of furniture selection for almost every room in the house. Also a good selection of area rugs. Everything is on sale and prices are pretty good and reasonable.

Very nice collection of modern furniture. When I visited the store, a number of display items were on sale. However, all of them appeared to have dings and other cosmetic blemishes. I have no experience with their customer service as I was simply browsing the store.

We had a great experience at Shelter. Darryl was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We bought our couch during a sale and got a great deal on it - the furniture there is excellent quality and the staff are fantastic we could not be happier with our purchase!

Have visited twice and cannot possibly trust a company that uses such tricks as 'closing down' to attract attention. They seem to be closing down for years! Items look too expensive for their quality. I prefer to go across the road to MKTe.

From what I heard, this is one of the places that the designers cone to choose furniture. It has a wide selection, really varied and with good taste, but you need to dig to find good deals, or have deep pockets.

Bottom of legs of brand new firniture I received were completely scratched up and rubbed. If they were not floor model I don't have any explanation for it. It seems their last concern is costumer satisfaction.

Took 12 weeks for our sectional to arrive when we were told 6-8 weeks. It arrived missing the ottoman portion. We were told a manager would call us back on the Monday which never happened.

Great selection, a lot more than it seems. Leans more modern and condo-sized. Our sofa was in stock and we had it delivered within a week. Staff were great, no pressure to buy or upsell.
