My experience until today has been very positive, both for my family, friends, clients and anyone I've referred to this company. I have sent no less than 3 people to them and my family has used them for both smaller and larger projects on no fewer than 3-4 occasions. And then today happened. Skyline was called out in November or early December to install gutter heaters into my 97 year old grandmother's 4-flat. The system was installed, though they ended up staying late because the gutter heaters kept blowing fuses (she has an older electrical panel). They managed to stabilize the system temporarily and we thought there wouldn't be a problem in the future. As soon as the January ice storm hit, the gutter heaters started blowing all of the fuses again. No problem! I called Skyline but this time they sent Kent. While nice at first, his attitude quickly changed later on. I'm the type of person who looks to professionals when I have questions and I rely on them for education and information. I asked Kent some questions and he just seemed annoyed. Upon his return from the supply warehouse, I asked him if I should turn the gutter heaters off in an effort to make things a little easier for him. His response was to call me an a$$hole (multiple times) and then tell me that it's "always the person behind you that is telling you how to run your f#%king business even though you've been doing it for 35 years and have '5 licenses.'" Excuse me? I've done nothing but try to help make things easier for you and if I've had a question, I have asked it (as any consumer would). I don't know everything and I'm hiring you for your time as well as your professional efforts. It's not too much to ask that you be somewhat pleasant during the process. On top of this, Kent did not wear a mask. At the time (01-13-22), we were in the middle of the pandemic and at the peak of the problems with the Omicron variant. Regardless of what you may think of COVID-19, he knew that the owner was a 97 year old. The bottom line is that the job wasn't properly completed back in December and the job wasn't completed today, either. Kent, after his tirade/hissy fit, decided to leave the job site without closing the roof hatch that he opened to examine the electric gutter heaters on the roof. My 97 year old grandmother was left to find someone with a ladder who was willing to help close up the hatch so that water and ice didn't cause hazardous conditions for her tenants. It's a shame that I will no longer be recommending this company due to the unprofessional actions of their owner. They had been great up until this point. Today is simply not something I am willing to overlook. As an update, we're still left with an incomplete job. If Kent receives an honest review that doesn't meet with his approval, his response is, "You're on your own," as evidenced below. Caveat emptor.

When you buy a new house, there's nothing better than finding your guys. (Or gals. No sexism here.) Now we've got our electrical guy! Kent's the best. He's super fast to respond to texts and calls. And he's really efficient in diagnosing issues. He installed a complicated chandelier for us, then figured out why we seemingly had no power running to our smoke & carbon monoxide detectors. He's a Nest installer, too, which is harder to find than you'd think. We've had several contractors in who obviously didn't know a thing about it. After everything Kent did for us, he charged us a ridiculously reasonable amount and was on his way. I'll absolutely use him for all electrical everything in the future. Just keep in mind, he may not be able to get to you right away, but he will get to you, and it'll be well worth it. Pro tip: Make the guy some coffee. He likes coffee.

I had a superior experience with Skyline Electric. They are great electricians, handle the administrative details accurately and efficiently and they take the time to make sure the customer is happy with the outcome! When I called (after reading YELP reviews) I gave info on what problems I had (along with what I thought needed to be done). I was surprised to receive a call from the owner. He wanted to work with me over the phone to possibly resolve the issue (for free!) and eliminate the need for a service call. Who does that?? We weren't able to fix it, so his guys came out. Very professional and friendly. We still had problems with an old fixture. The owner came to work with his crew, but didn't charge me for this extra time. My bill was very reasonable and all matters were fixed. Skyline is now "my" electrician. They are a real find

My experience with Skyline electric has been nothing short of amazing. I needed help with fixing my thermostat for a line voltage HVAC system. It was a challenging job that not many could do and most of the people I reached out to were reluctant since the task involved was complex. Kent from Skyline electric was brilliant – he was knowledgeable and understood my need from our initial conversation. He even went the extra mile to ensure I was confident and comfortable with this installation by showing examples of successful installations at various other condos. He was prompt and very professional. He even recommended we install a four-position switch that would help set fan speed as required. I am completely satisfied with his quality of service and cost. I definitely would recommend him for any future electrical jobs.

Kent and his team did an incredible job! We had recessed lights, pendants, and new light-switches installed by Skyline. - We had a great initial consult by Kent over the placement and size of the lights. This helped us a lot. - We used Halo Home recessed lights, its a new technology where the color warmth is changeable and dimmable from your phone. We had them installed and everything works perfectly. - The lights are perfectly alligned. - Gloves were used to avoid marks on the glass pendants. - Kent's team left the house in a clean state, great people, it was a pleasure having them over. - We received a call 2 weeks later if everything was still working. Great after care service as well! Overall exceptional work and service for a fair price! 200% recommended!

These guys are great. I hired Skyline to fix the front and back lights for our 3 story building in Lincoln Park a couple of years ago, and had them work on multiple things for my own condo today. They are all very professional and knowledgeable! Both Kent from a couple of years ago, and Tom with his "buddy boy" helper :) who were here today, did a great job. And when Tom did not have a tool he needed to cut the kitchen island cabinet, so that it would not crack, he called the office and had the right tools delivered very quickly. Jeanette, who is the owner (i think) and handles appointments, is awesome too. Highly recommend this company!

Honestly I cannot say enough good things about Skyline Electric. This is a little embarrassing admitting this publicly, but I’d called Skyline today, to see if they could help repair a ceiling fan that no longer worked, after less than a year after they’d installed a brand new ceiling fan. Kent was EXTREMELY responsive and came out to help remediate it the same evening… at 9:30pm. It turned out to be a dead 9 volt battery in the remote. WOW… so embarrassing… but yet soooo grateful that I’m dealing with a professional company that cares that much about the work that they do. I will always go back to Skyline! Thanks Kent!!!

I cannot say enough great things about Skyline Electric - Kent and Nic did an amazing job installing several light fixtures in my new condo. I called on a Sunday, and Kent was able to come to the house ASAP (within 30 minutes). Over the phone, Kent immediately diagnosed the problem we had been dealing with for over a week. Kent the owner came to do work on my unit and left all the wires live as he was going to come the next morning to finish the job. He did not show up to multiple jobs the next day including mine.and his office could not reach him. He finally called in the evening and came to finish the job. Kent the owner has the worst social / people skills that I have ever seen. He is condescending and just deplorable human being. I will never hire this guy even if he is the last electrician in the world.

I needed an electrical panel to be replaced to bring it up to code. An extremely knowledgeable and friendly electrician, Kent, showed up on time and installed the unit. He was careful as far as protecting the floor of course with a dropcloth. He was extremely efficient. Skyline Electric installed the electrical wiring and GFCI panel needed for our hot tub. They were quick to provide a quote and do the initial wiring prior to the winter weather. He and his crew were not only a pleasure to be around (which is such a bonus), but cared about the quality of their work and that everything was done properly in a timely manner.
