Somerton Park Beach is adjacent to Glenelg beach in the north and Brighton Beach in the south. It is a wide beach about two kilometers long. The Minda Dunes are one of only two remaining examples of a secondary dune system along the Adelaide metropolitan coastline .They are the only section of privately-owned dunes along the Adelaide coast and are protected as part of a coastal conservation zone . Recognised as ecologically valuable ,the remaining dunes provide a habitat for flora and fauna of conservation significance .They are a refuge for species with specific niche requirements that are otherwise absent in the southern metropolitan area . Out of the 37 plant species living on the dunes ,20 are considered rare ,vulnerable or threatened .Experts have also identified 32 different bird species making use this scarce habitat .

Such a beautiful and picturesque place. Great beach for a walk. The cuty council has maintained it so well. There are a lot of benches, jogging / walking track and litter bins along the beach. Calm and peacful place. The neighborhood is quiet and the people are friendly.

This is one of the best beaches in the Adelaide area. You have access to white sand, great views, sunshine and lots of it, at the right time of year. There is a Jetty nearby for those it suits. Lots of eating spots close by with great coffee always on tap.

Nice beach though the sand in the water can be quite uneven. I'm a bit unsteady on my feet at the moment so had to try hard to balance myself. Lots of dog walkers in the mornings. Lots of parking available in side streets.

It's a very quiet interesting place all the books and rooms with books from Bryce Courtney to a dozen other titles and categories the place eases your mind and soul great de stress place and sweets to tempt you

A lovely sandy beach, great for walking dogs. Family friendly. Can walk from Glenelg to Brighton along the beach, when the tide is out. Cafe on the Esplanade at the Glenelg end and one nearer Brighton

It is really enjoyable walking down here in either the morning or evening. Wide foot path and board walks for walkers, runners or cyclists and those walking their pets

One of our favourite beaches. Perfect white sand and crystal clear water but nowhere near as busy as Glenelg or Brighton. Plenty of parking on the side streets too.

Lovely beach that also has a really nice grassy park with playground for kids and with new, improved exercise equipment for adults. A favourite spot for many.

Good beach but will be great once they have the walkway fixed and you can actually walk up the Northern ramp and not be almost drowned by the tide coming in.

Nice Sunny Day for a walk along the beach close to cafes and no too far from Glenelg. Was very clean, a busy pathway with plenty of paw-fect Dawgs.....

Nice beach to visit. Very quiet in Autumn and Winter. Beautiful views over the ocean. Great for a swim in summer summer and springtime.

Our local beach is beautiful. Very save swimming at Somerton Beach. There is a reserve with toilets just above the beach

Somerton Beach is situated between Glenelg and Brighton and a perfect place to walk from one beach to another!

A beautiful walk along the Esplanade was the perfect way to unwind, get some sun, and get our step count up.

Special beach for a swim or lovely walk. Usually no rocks under your feet to go for a swim. Recommend it.
