South Loop Animal Hospital has been a terrific find for our elderly (15) cat suffering from chronic kidney function decline. The thoughtfulness and thoroughness of care that Dr. Dan Sanchez has provided has been top-notch. The facilities are squeaky clean, are designed with a homey feeling, and the diagnostic services are squarely 21st century. South Loop Animal Hospital is a breath of fresh air In a world where corporate franchised veterinary clinics are becoming more common in cities. They're independently owned and they care very much about each patient. If you're looking for the best in care for your beloved pet in downtown Chicago you couldn't do better than South Loop Animal Hospital. ------------------------ Update: May 12, 2016 Now nearly two years after my initial review our opinion of South Loop Animal Hospital and Dr. Dan Sanchez has only grown stronger. Sadly, renal failure eventually overtook our beloved 17 year-old cat this month. But Dr. Sanchez's devotion to thoughtful and flexible care was a major factor in allowing our cat to live a longer and more natural and comfortable end of life than we really expected. When the time came for us to let go Dr. Sanchez and his staff provided the most gentle and compassionate final moments for our cat that we could have hoped for. If the day ever comes when we bring a new 4-legged friend into our home in Chicago there is absolutely no doubt that s/he will become a new patient at South Loop Animal Hospital. Thank you so much Dr. Sanchez, Lindsey, Allison, and the whole staff at SLAH.

We love Dr. Sanchez and his team, we drive from the suburbs to see him! The office staff and techs are so friendly to me and caring to my dog. We have been patients of Dr. Sanchez' for almost 8 years and he has helped us through some very challenging times. He takes his time with us and thoroughly explains all options in a patient friendly manner. He always tries to give us the most cost effective option and the prices are very fair for the excellent care we receive. My dog had to have a tumor removed this winter and he did an amazing job with the surgery, everyone kept telling me it was going to come back but it has been 8 months and there is no sign of it and I believe this is due to his skill as a surgeon. Most importantly I know that he cares for my dog, he says Hi to her first and treats her as if she is his only patient event though he is very busy. I cannot say enough good things about South Loop Animal Hospital, especially Dr. Sanchez.

This is our regular vet for our two beagles. Dr. Manrique has always been great. She answers all questions and follows up by phone. Appointments are easy to make and they have seen us within a few hours without charging us the emergency fee. The facilities are clean and new. The staff has always been kind and attentive. There is ample free parking either immediately in front the hospital or in a lot directly across the street. The services are a bit expensive, but to be honest we haven't compared rates too heavily with other similar animal hospitals in the area. We feel that's just the cost of top-quality care. We love our beagles so the fact that we exclusively go to South Loop Animal Hospital is our greatest way to show our approval.

My partner brought our cat in roughly 2 weeks ago because he had stopped eating, had lost a significant amount of weight, along with an issue with his eye that was causing him pain. After an $850 bill, the vet was still at a loss of what was causing his illness and told us the only option we had was to take him somewhere else for an ultra sound. We took him somewhere else for a second opinion and within minutes they located and identified a massive abscess in his mouth that was clearly infected and causing him pain for weeks. I’m at a loss for how something that should have been easily spotted was overlooked by the veterinarian and then we were just sent on our way with absolutely no answers, a large bill, and our cat still in pain

South Loop Animal Hospital is amazing! I first brought my dog Miles to South Loop when we moved to Chicago. They were great with him - caring about his health, and treating him like he was the only dog there! A few months later, Miles started to get sick. The entire group worked hard to figure out what was wrong. They truly were amazing people helping us understand the diagnosis, and talking about possible treatment. Unfortunately, Miles had cancer. The people at South Loop helped us manage his pain, and were there for us at every turn. We now take our other dog Ginger to South Loop. They do great with her too! I highly recommend the team at South Loop - great people that love animals!

We’ve been taking our dog to Southloop Animal Hospital for more than 10 yrs. We were recommended Southloop Animal Hospital by our old vet because they didn’t have an appointment available for my dog in a short notice. Let’s just say we never went back to our old vet! We love SLAH and my dog does as well! From the front of the house receptionist to all the doctors it’s always an awesome experience. Our doctor is Dr. Karnia and she’s so great with my dog. She takes her time to explain everything and makes us feel comfortable reaching out if we have further questions or issues. I feel very grateful to have such an amazing animal hospital nearby!!!

Dr. Simpson was absolutely amazing, the level of attention she gave to my cat and myself was wonderful. She sat on the floor with him and he spent most of the visit in her lap. She spent way more time than necessary answering my endless questions and as a first time cat owner she put me at ease and educated me on what I needed to know to give my pet the best home. Additionally the entire front desk staff were wonderful but particularly Ashley A. was extremely helpful and took such an interest in my pet, she really developed a connection with my pet. These folks are the reason why I chose South Loop Animal Hospital as much pets veterinarian.

The staff and doctors at South Loop Animal Hospital are extremely professional, knowledgeable, and just nice people. I have never had a bad experience with them, whether it is on the phone or at the hospital. I am always impressed by the amount of attention and care I (and my pup) get from them; during all visits they make sure I understand ALL possible approaches to care and their costs before I make a decision, and I always get a follow up call a week after appointments to see how everything is going. I am very grateful to have them as teammates in taking care of my pup's health.

Compassionate, professional, and knowledgable veterinarians and staff. We have been taking our two dogs to the South Loop Animal Hospital for over 4 years. Taking the best care I could imagine of our dogs, both in their routine care and the care of one of our dogs through a serious illness. We love our regular veterinarian, Dr. Sanchez, but have also seen other veterinarians there. The experience has always been overwhelmingly positive, even if the reason for being there is not. A place that really understands your pets are family members and treats them like one of their own.

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new vet for my goldendoodle Piper. After much research, I decided on South Loop Animal Hospital. It has been such a great experience working with them!!! The entire staff was super friendly and helpful. You can tell that they all really really care about animals. The South Loop was so in need of a good animal hospital, one that didn't operate as a factory moving through the pet patients. Along came South Loop Hospital and our needs were definitely answered. The whole office knows my dog well, treats him like family, reviews his file each time so back issues don't have to be readdressed and although Bogart does not enjoy his vet visits, they make him feel comfortable and welcomed. Just got back from our pup's first visit here. We moved to the city from the suburbs recently and have been looking for a good vet and this is 100% that place. We went to SL Animal Hospital for almost 4 years before moving. We always had a great experience here. The staff and doctors are friendly and knowledgeable. Our dog is literally scared of everything but they always made sure he felt as comfortable as he can be. With COVID, they had a great system to keep the staff, animals, and owners safe which we appreciated. We moved and they were helpful with the process of transferring our dog’s medical records.

Providers seem to be experts and are definitely very gracious and caring. I would 100% go back to see at least three different DVMs there that we've seen before, and the office staff is very personable and organized. Prices have been steeper over the last few years, especially for IDEXX, etc. tests = that's the only knock I would give them. Otherwise, SLAH has been our vet practice for ~5 years and I refer them to everyone who asks.

I always recommend South Loop Animal Hospital to any pet owner I come across! My cat Chewbacca finds vet visits quite stressful but the team at the East Side location is always so considerate and careful to ensure that he remains as calm as possible. Dr. Konishi has been an amazing care provider for him ever since he was diagnosed with early kidney disease - she really helps me maintain a plan that keeps Chewie happy and healthy!

South Loop Animal Hospital has looked after three of my cats over the years, and I have been very satisfied with the kind and professional care they (and I) have enjoyed. We've been seen by a few different vets there, and I would recommend them all. When I was unable to administer fluids by myself when my Tigger needed them, I was able to bring him in for that service, which prolonged his life for a while longer.

Needed to find a vet for the two cats I recently adopted, and the agency through which I adopted the girls recommended South Loop. Great experience there today. I sat by the open door while they went through the checkup and, per my request, their nails (or as I call them, talons of death and destruction) were clipped. Dr Mistar, Is far above in knowledge and compassion for our three elderly rescues 2 cats &1 dog. After multiple visits and expense with other vets, she was able to diagnose our dog with cushings disease, reaching out to her specialist colleagues for input on the dogs care on her own time.
