Nearly finished my coffee before I got my breakfast sandwich. 20mins… The sandwich was actually very good. Just don’t order any food if you’re pressed for time. Also the friendliness of the staff is lacking. -Food and drinks are pretty good. Went here twice in the last 2 weeks. First time the employee was talking to another about how they hate customers who are indecisive and order items without waiting to hear the options they have. Second time one of the employees was talking about being in a relationship and realizing they hate men. Actually had to interrupt that conversation to order. Almost turned around and left. Both time they talked as if customers couldn’t hear or see them. Just very odd and uncomfortable at times. -Getting better with food and drink delivery. Looks like they went to pretty much complete pushing buttons for coffee. Still not the friendliest group. Another visit: just straight up rude!! I ordered a drink and I get “we can’t make that” that’s after I approached the register and was just stared at by two employees, before hearing “yes?” And then when I get the alternative drink I ordered, it was placed on counter and that employee says nothing and walks away. Are we as customers an inconvenience!?

This review is in regards to the southern grounds inside the terminals, not outside. I’ve had a good experience at this location the last few times I’ve been at the airport but tonight, I was taken back by the attitude of 1 of the 3 girls working (though they all seems to be whispering and sharing the same conversation). The girl taking my order seemed inconvenienced to be taking my coffee order at 6:30pm… When they don’t close until 9pm… She did make my drink. But I stood there as the only person to order and be waiting and the girls were talking amongst one another about their breaks and other things while I’m just standing there awkwardly watching them/waiting on my drink… She did make my drink and tell me to have a good night, so she was not rude to me. But as I’m turning to leave, a guy comes walking up around the corner staring at their menu and the girl starts saying out loud “nope, nope, nope, nope” and the other girl chimes in “sir, I just want you to know that our kitchen is closed and we’re only serving in house coffee” and he ordered a small coffee. Easy enough. There was no reason for that girl to have that attitude and mouth those words out loud. That is your work place - you chose to work there - be kind to people! If you’re not serving certain stuff anymore that’s fine, just say that! That’s all you have to do. The drinks are always great but the staff could work on their communication skills.

This place had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was waiting for over 15 minutes while my other friends got their order when they ordered after me. I had to come up and ask about my order (which is fine), but that interaction was not appropriate for anyone. Me: “hey I just wanted to check in on my order” Her: “oh I made that a while ago. Someone else must have taken it” She paused as if she was saying, “oh well you’re SOL” Me: “oh okay? I still don’t have my order though…” Her: “I can remake it” *with some attitude* She proceeds to make it, and hands it to me with no apology about me missing my order owns just gives me more attitude. And then hands the croissant I ordered. I said nothing since she said nothing, and then she yells sarcastically “have a nice day” If this is the type of behavior people are experiencing when they first get off or on a plane, that would be a great impression of Jacksonville.

Bad service — I was craving some of their pastries but they refused to serve me. Their posted closing time is at 9 pm. I arrived at around 8:48 pm. There were some people ahead of me ordering coffee and paying, a few people looking at the display cases, and two people sitting and enjoying their coffee and pastries. The worker came to me and told me they were closed. I wanted to order a cookie — very simple to take out of the fridge and ring up — and asked the worker if I can just buy that. I wasn’t going to make him make me a coffee. The worker went to the back briefly and emerged. He finished the coffee orders of the people ahead of me. He allowed one couple to buy two water bottles and quickly rung them up. I was waiting quietly. Then he told me that his boss wouldn’t let him make any more orders and repeated that they’re closed (at 8:52 pm). Some flexibility and courteous service would be appreciated especially since the posted closing time was 9 pm and it wasn’t even 9 yet.

I had some time to grab a coffee, so decided to try Southern Grounds. They did not have any 20oz cups available, so I settled for 16oz, no big deal. I also added a breakfast sandwich (bagel, egg, cheese) with the option of sausage and went to the area to wait. The coffee came quickly, piping hot and quite distinctive in flavor into, no complaints other than perhaps no cup sleeves in sight. The bagel however took way longer than I expected a simple sandwich to take and I was beginning to sweat about making my gate timely. It came out eventually and I rushed to my gate and boarded. Upon opening the polystyrene :-( box, I realized there was no sausage, but of course there was no way I was heading back board, so writing that off to a poor experience.

The food and drinks here are DELICIOUS. I stop here every time I travel through JAX for the grain bowls, salads, or a sandwich. The food is always fresh, and filling. I would normally rate a place like this 5/5 stars but the service here isn’t the best. The service is consistently VERY slow, like 5-10 minutes for drinks and 15-30 minutes for food even if you’re the only one there. I think this is partially because they’re cooking all food fresh, but also because the staff are frequently hanging out chatting/texting and don’t seem to be in a hurry. It’s definitely worth the wait, but ONLY if you have the time!

Was in the Jax airport and wanted a bagel and cream cheese. First of all, they had like 4 workers and talking and laughing super loud to each other. I'm standing at the register with a water ready to order and they just stared at me. I said hi and one girl just rung up my water without saying anything or asked if I needed anything else. I asked for a bagel double toasted with extra cream cheese and a salted caramel cookie. Waited 10 min and nothing. They all continued to joke with each other. Finally my bagel was called out and I took my bag. My cookie wasn't in the bag so I had to ask for that. No smile or have a good day or anything. I went to eat my bagel and it was barely toasted and only had maybe 1 tablespoon of cream cheese. I was not happy or impressed. Save your money and time

I want to give a HUGE shoutout to the team of ladies that worked today (10/24/23 around 11:30am) in the terminal café across Gate A3! I had an AWFUL morning of setbacks and missed boarding my flight by 5 minutes. I was an emotional wreck and stressed. They were very kind, offered to cover my drink (I still payed bc they really were too kind) and offered me lots of compassion and napkins. Their kindness and professionalism in what's certainly a busy shop were exceptional. I hope this makes it back to management; you have a wonderful staff! I will definitely be back by whenever I fly through Jax.

Love having local businesses in the airport, but be warned that if you order food that can’t be grabbed from the pastry case by the baristas, you will wait 45-60 minutes (no exaggeration - I waited 40 minutes for an egg and cheese sandwich and it only appeared after I asked twice and then asked for a refund because my flight was boarding). This isn’t uncommon - I usually wait a minimum of 20 minutes for food, sometimes 10 for coffee, and an airport host escorting a passenger in a wheelchair told me the cook has a reputation for being slow.

The two female employees were standing in the concourse away from the counter when I walked up. They were mid conversation and didn’t stop to take my order when I was standing at the counter. They walked behind the counter, kept talking, and then started singing the song on the speaker. I said “if I’m interrupting I can find another spot to order” The girl away from the register said “girl take his order so we can go eat these wings” To which the cashier said “whatcha want” I said “one scone” She said “it’ll be ready over there” And they went back to talking and laughing with each other.

Southern Grounds did a great job, it is considerably better than Starbucks. I was very impressed with the Cobb salad as it was very flavorful. I also appreciated how friendly the staff was as they were willing to make small talk with the customers while still preparing the orders in a timely fashion. I overheard another customer who was also singing their praises. Personally I think that everyone who works there deserves a raise.

Busy Monday morning at the Jax Airport. Maybe they should focus on coffee and their pastries. Spent far too much on this under performing Lox & Cream Cheese Bagel. The tomatoes are inedible and the two pieces of onion are disappointing. On top of it all, the long line of customers waiting to place and pick up their orders, had to listen to the gentleman behind the counter complain "there are too many coffee orders and not enough staff".

Dreadful service. 7 people behind the counter and had to wait ten minutes for one to bother to ask me if I wanted anything. Heck no I'm just standing here because I'm bored...of course I want something dipstick! 2 people behind me walked off in disgust but I was not annoyed. At least the coffee and croissant was at least good when I finally got served, hence two stars instead of one. Unforgivable service guy's, you need to pay attention to your customers not gaggling away between each other!!

Unbelievable 2 customers for food. I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese. 15 minutes later I had to ask where my (2 minutes to make) food was. Coffee was like water. I asked for a replacement and got another weak cup of coffee with an attitude from the neck tattoo girl who said nothing other than "half and half"?. What a waste of $7.50. The 20 minute bagel was acceptable. No f@#KS given at this location

Love Southern Grounds. I usually go to the one by the beach. Coffee is amazing but do not go here if you’re crunched on time. We’re all in an airport trying to catch flights. There’s no sense of urgency and it literally took me 25 minutes to get a cold brew with hazelnut syrup. Everyone in the waiting area seemed peeved. Guess you should come here if you get settled in the airport 2 hours prior.

Finally!!! Somewhere healthy and delicious to eat in an airport! Had the salmon toast quick between my flights. It was delicious and fit right in with my desire for a healthy choice. Service was great, and the decor is super nice and trendy! So glad to hear they are opening up multiple airport concourse locations, I will be following them to make sure I can hit them up every time I fly!

Welcome sight to see after traveling. Everything looked clean and fresh and staff on point. Some friendlier than others. No one was rude or unpleasant…I just took it as busy life and everyday stress. As soon as I smiled and said hello, it was graciously reciprocated. Sometimes that’s all anyone needs. Very happy about this location!

This review is specifically for BRANDY. Instead of asking if I needed help, she complained to her coworkers for an extensive amount of time about about another customer. I had to interject just to order a bottle of water. I let her know that I didn’t care for her conversation and she responded, “I don’t care BYE!”

The location just before security check in was a great experience. The general manager was working and was extremely friendly and my iced vanilla cardamom was delicious. This is a very cozy spot as well, lots of local artwork and comfortable seats to converse or study. Highly recommend.

Best coffee in the airport! They have a fully automatic espresso machine and brew Intelligentsia Coffee. Consistent and tasty for an airport - especially this one. There are three Starbucks (1 outside security) if you like that but come here if you want a smile and a better cup.

Love seeing more local brands at the airport! I ordered my usual breakfast sandwich and a Campfire Mocha. Both hot and delicious. Southern Grounds is my go to, great service and great food!

A nitro cold brew is to be served without ice. It defeats the purpose of the nitro if you put ice in you lose the creaminess of the small bubbles. The barest treated me like I was stupid when asked why there was ice.

Staff at this location is incredibly lackluster. Four or five of them stood and chatted amongst each other while I waited for my food. There was no one else in line. After 10 minutes I left without my food or a refund as I did not want to miss my flight.

Had a couple of platters and they were expensive as usual for airport food, but decent. The blueberry muffin was also decent. But I was really surprised by how bad the coffee was for a place called "Southern Grounds”. It was just warm light brown water.

Best airport coffee I’ve ever had. Really great nitro cold brew. I’d drink it without being at the airport. Best part of Jax airport.
