This park is a gem! Stunning views across the river Lea, towards Stratford, a long vista with lots to muse on. The park starts at the top of the hill and has the original house, now a cafe with good food choices including vegan, and gluten free bread. There is a lovely pond with a circular fountain in the middle, a small pebble beach for wading birds and plenty of wildlife to observe. Then the paths lead down and around the three estates which were joined together to form the park. Lots of amazing trees, shrubs and wild brambles, we ate our way along one long stretch and still had enough to take home for blackberry and apple pie! The yew hedges with inset benches are a clever feature that also look architectural in a rural setting. Must mention the amazing toilets too, brand new, fully accessible, spotlessly clean and light and airy. Full marks for whoever keeps them that way. ⭐ The whole park is clean and tidy, not one piece of litter visible, that speaks volumes about the care and attention taken to provide people with somewhere relaxing to go. Absolutely lovely place to chill out and enjoy a bit of greenery and almost wilderness.
We visited here for the first time on a weekend at the start of July. The weather was great, just a little overcast to offset the sun, soft breeze. The park is great, well looked-after with plenty of old trees interspersed with new ones ready to take their place. The benches surrounded by hedges were cool, we sat there for a bit and enjoyed the view. It was our first time really being on a hill since coming to London. We enjoyed the small rose gardens and the little pond area with its waterfowl and fountain. Will likely return for another walk around in the future, it's well-connected to nearby parks so you can spend plenty of time here.
Dog-friendliness
Plenty of room for dogs, saw a few on leash and off.
Picnic area
Loads of places to settle down for a picnic. Wasn't particularly crowded on the Sunday we visited.
The park which is located on top of a hill. Once you reached there, you can enjoy the immense beauty of landscape view from the park. When I cycle I really enjoyed the uphill path to the park. People are choosing this spot for tennis, joging and casual walk. There is two different play area for kids. One at the bottom and one at the top. There is a wonderful pond and seatings arranged around it is so good. This is a must visit park. I love the view from the park, beautiful canal and boats are the highlights
Playground
There is a batminton court and kids play sections.
Picnic area
I would say, this is the apt po lace for picnic.
Bit of a late review as it’s no longer summer but this is one of my favourite parks to go to and relax if I’m blue. I never took any notice of what’s in the park but discovered it through doing a foraging tour with John the poacher through Instagram. Anyway it’s become one of my favourite parks that I regular visit. I like to sit on the top of the hill overlooking the tennis courts and look at the skyline of London. Also if you look closely enough there is some interested plant life and animals.
This park is a favourite spot for my family. It's a beautiful green space for bike riding, exercising, playing ball games and flying kites. There are tennis courts and on Sundays you can watch the cricket players on the green if you're interested. It's a good spot for picnics and has a lovely pond with ducks and fish. It has a small kids play area with monkey bars a small slide in sand, sand pit and swings. Its currently undergoing renovations which I hope will further improve this space.
I take my dogs over there. It's a nice and very clean park. There is also a cafeteria there if you fancy a cuppa and something to eat. A very interesting fact. At the bottom of the park, there is the river lea. The remains of a Viking longship was found there and you can see the ship in the Hackney museum in mare street.
Dog-friendliness
There are plenty of dogs over there. Just take a bag with you incase your dog goes to the toilet.
This is an absolutely beautiful park with beautiful views. There are lots of lovely climbing frames and swings for families. There are a few tennis courts as well, so there's plenty to do. People seem to be very good at social distancing in the park and respecting each others space. There is no cafe in the park anymore though, and the nearest shop is 10 minutes away, so don't forget to bring your picnic!
Lovely for a morning run or stroll with your dog. Clean, well maintained. Amazingly huge, I loved the old trees. You can spend a good number of hours on a pleasant weather day here. Sit next to the water or run up/down the landscaped gardens, talk to the trees or play a game of fetch. Very accessible on foot from the East Bank. You're in for a treat!
Pleasantly a nice park and large one too. It is also hilly. It has a tennis court and , children play area. There is a marsh area to walk around next to the park and that is really worth walking around. The pictures are from the marsh area.
Beautiful park overlooking the Lea "valley" gently sloping down to the River Lea. Between the manicured lawns and wild areas, tennis courts and coffee shops and since refurbishment, an education centre too there's lots to discover and do.
Lovely park with a beautiful lake, incredible views over the River Lea and Walthamstow Marshes, tennis courts, playground, cafe, community vegetable garden and more. Not to crowded and plenty of open space to wander or run. Beautiful.
A very open park, with a pond at the top, then steeply tumbling down the hill towards the River Lea navigation. You can cross to Walthamstow marshes on the far corner to the left, looking down the hill. Great views from the top.
I recently visited Springfield Park and had a wonderful experience. The park is easily accessible and well-marked on Google Maps. Once inside, I was blown away by the natural beauty and well-maintained grounds.
Springfield Park is a hidden gem located in the heart of London. As soon as you step foot into the park, you are transported into a peaceful and serene oasis, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Situated on a steep grassed slope towards and bordered by the River Lea towpath with views across the Walthamstow Marshes. A variety of mature trees, woodlands, tennis courts,a pond, bandstand and a cafe
Nice big park, cafe at top does all sorts of lovely food & drinks. There are toilets, play area, tennis courts, sports pitches, along the bottom runs a canal, there's a lake...what's not to like! …
Pretty, small park against the canal walk path. The park is fairly hilly, get for running training. The paths are smooth and well maintained. There are also lovely views over the Lea valley area.
We were here with beautiful weather over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. It has a lovely cafe, and toilets are clean to use, which you don't usually find in public parks. Lovely day in the park.
One of my favourite parks in London. Less crowded than others, with beautiful essences growing and so many birds hanging out (there's an ornithologic reserve in the wetlands nearby).
Really lovely place to start your weekend walk in a sunny day. We have seen that many people travel with their babies. We really enjoyed to go around the ponds.
Nice green space, perfect for hill runs, a day out with family and/or stunning green views over the Walthamstow Marshes. The park also has some tennis courts.
Such a beautiful, beautiful park. With a hill on one side, a small lake on the other and the canal nearby. Very quiet and lovely atmosphere during the summer.
It is a place where you can feel yourself in nature and also play tennis. In the spring, you can come and collect blackberries. I love this park very much.
Amazing park especially for cycling downhill inside but inside this particular park there is a few hidden away spots where you can chill hidden …
Beautiful green park, Teddy loves it here, often you can see parakeets flying around. Nice atmosphere and great views. Good parking. Very cool play area
I had many a lovely walk around Springfield Park when I lived in the area. Springfield Park is a popular green space located in the London Borough of
Beautiful park. Lots of lovely green space. Kids playground, tennis court, picnic benches and toilets. There is also a small cafe with seating area.
Park from my childhood onto of walthamstow marshes and the river lea Lovely place to go chill and read a book or take the kids and have some fun
I lived two years near Springfield Park. for who loves the quiet recommend the area. the park on the spring and summer days is a great place.
With a spectacular view of the London Canal boat and skyscrapers good place to spend your afternoon hours! Also there is a tennis play area.
Positively idyllic. Look out for parakeets flocking at dusk then disappearing to allow the indigenous birds to sing you into the night
I visited here in April 2022 as part of walking the Capital Ring route. This is a nice park with a lake and a hill with good views.
The tennis community here should be written about and dare I say it - programmed for a sitcom - there is simply nothing like it.
Lovely for a walk/cycle along the river Lea towpath. Within easy reach of Three Mills, Hackney Marshes and Lee Valley Park.
A very decent park for young and old! Tennis courts and a little park/play area for children. Nice place for a stroll too.
Really great and perfect green place for as many activities you want all around and near to the river Lee and canal .
It’s such a beautiful park with distant views across the Lea Valley and the reservoirs in to East London. Lovely.
Always love Springfield Park, always clean and beautiful. Its the gateway to the marshes, wetlands and river.
Really huge and beautiful park. Great play area. Very nice unusual trees. You can walk there along the river.
Beautiful. Has tennis courts, several play areas, chess tables and areas where you can do some exercise.
Shame that it was already occupied by a birthday but still the music was good . Bandstand …
Nice park. Good play area and woods and open space for the dog. Cute little pond as well
Fairly quiet park with plenty of shade as well as a sloping hill down to the river Lea.
