What a great find! We are new to the area and have been enjoying ourselves trying out all the local spots around our condo and this little spot was a pleasant surprise! We went for Taco Tuesday Happy Hour, they do drink specials and $1 off tacos. The margaritas were delicious. They menu is pretty extensive but not overwhelming. We started with Taco Libre dip which was fantastic, as well as the surf and turf taco, the pastor, the carnitas and the quesabirria. All, were absolutely scrumptious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! ;) We arrived atound 5:20 and it was pretty empty but by the time we left all the tables were full. They had a steady stream of take out orders during our visit as well. This place is a gem and we can't wait to go back to try different menu items!

We’ve been going to this restaurant for many years since they first opened actually. It was exciting the food and service was excellent we looked forward to going and recommended it often Then they expanded their menu which was a real step forward Now I don’t understand what happened it’s so sad my favorite taco the Mr potato taco is no longer made with potatoes it’s just some warmed up French fries and the shrimp bowl is lettuce that looks like bag lettuce from the grocery store thrown in a bowl with a few shrimps. Even the hot sauce is average at best thank goodness the beans are still good We spent $35 for two small dinners and left wishing we went elsewhere

I went here recently for the first time with my bf, and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered two vegetarian tacos, and I loved them. I especially liked that they included avocado slices on each of them (y’all know how some places wanna try and be stingy with the avocados!). The chips and salsa great. Most importantly and impressively, the service was on point! We were immediately greeted with friendly smiles, and we were sat and within just a minute we had our iced teas and a fresh basket of chips and salsa. Our waitress was so kind; she had excellent excellent excellent excellent customer service. We really appreciate y’all, thanks for making our visit so enjoyable, we’ll be back! Probably tomorrow haha! :)
We picked this restaurant on the positive reviews and ratings. I feel like it's reviewed by people who don't know what real Mexican food is. The food was not good and service was horrible. We seemed to bother the servers by coming in. We also overheard a fight between servers over which tables belonged to them as well as the days they're supposed to work. We are a little because we were quite hungry and didn't want to pass out. The margarita was easily the worst I've ever had. They did have cool neon signs and an awesome name. Note to self, don't be drawn in by the name and signs!

Very very very basic Mexican food. I have a buddy that loves this place and I don't understand why. Perhaps it's just the convenience and familiarity. The staff is very pleasant and the pricing isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. But most importantly the food just doesn't do it for me. The food lacks seasoning and presentation. I've tried this place on multiple occasions and I want to love it because of the location but the major shortcoming is the food. Sorry.

Me and my wife both had the fajitas. So the fajitas did not come out sizzling. It was hot [temperature] but not sizzling coming out of the kitchen. Beans were bland. The worst part was actually the service. Just unprofessional service, not rude. Staff seems nice. They were mopping and cleaning while we ate. The staff stood around, talking, discussing things. Our drinks were never refilled. When food came out and in general no one came up, asked how things were i.e. refill drinks. We had to sit and stare then ask for somone to get check. So in general It just lacked customer service.
Great tacos and staff. Today was Cinco de Mayo and they had a DJ and outside tequila bar for waiting customers. We come here as a family beyond Cinco de Mayo and it is the only grilled chicken taco my daughter wants to eat. She compares all other restaurant chicken tacos to Taco Libre and they fail for her. Never had a bad food experience in many years. Love this place!

Super friendly staff, food was very fresh. The Acapulco Ceviche was delicious, it was sweet and savory. The Flautas were cooked perfectly; meat was tender and juicy while the tortilla was nice and crispy. I'm a HUGE fan of Mexican street corn and their Esquites was definitely in my top 5. The bathroom was very clean and I was happy to see a very nice changing table in the womens room for babies. Great place. Great food.

This was our first time visiting and we definitely enjoyed it. Our waitress was very nice she was very attentive and took very good care of us throughout our entire meal. The manager came by the table a couple of times to make sure that everything was going good as he did with the other patrons in the restaurant. Food came out pretty quick. Our meal was piping hot everything looked fresh and delicious. In fact it was very delicious. Tacos are awesome the fajitas were very good and there were several things on the menu that I look forward to trying.
If you're looking for great food, great service, pleasantly quirky decor, and a place where you can relax and be comfortable this is your place. The food tastes like family recipes and the Queso is a must. Hint dip some salsa then the Queao, it just works. I had a very long day at the hospital and needed a hearty meal and friendly service and they delivered in droves. And to top if off the prices were very reasonable. It's just a great place to be and eat. Please do yourself a favor, keep them business and just eat there.
Update: it's still good. Kids now try different stuff and usually like. It's our spot for Mexican. Taco Libre is a no thrills just delicious food place. We've been going a couple years now and never been disappointed. My wife tonight got the carnitas platter, holy cow it was a lot of food. She said it was so good and now has leftovers. Kids always happy, and have started to try new stuff on the menu. If you're in the area and want some tacos I'd stop in.

Awful. I hated everything served, went home and threw up because I didn’t even want this in my system. I ordered the Birria tacos that had a nauseating smell, it has absolutely no seasoning not even salt and pepper. The lady was extremely rude and didn’t even smile nor look at me in the face, she looked like she hated everyone in the store. This place had such a good reputation but was just an extreme disappointment, please don’t waste your money and time here it isn’t worth it in the slightest bit.
I got to visit this gem of an authentic Mexican restaurant yesterday! Having tried it for the first time, I really enjoyed my experience! Our server Rafael provided great service as we sat outside. I ordered a pineapple Jarritos (Rafael's favorite flavor) and got the 3 lunch combo - a bean and cheese burrito, a cheese enchilada and rice and beans! Everything was delicious, along with our chips and salsa! Highly recommend this place!!

I had recently been to another establishment and had an amazing Queso birria. I decided to stop and try one here. I have tried many around the country from both food truck and restaurant. This was the worst. It was just a birria street taco. It had a pinch of cheese and very soggy and flimsy. Beef was dry. I ate the filling with a fork and left. 2 stars for service although sour cream never made it.

First time eating here while in Jacksonville. Food was very good! We got the pick 3 for like $10 and a kids meal...ummm it was a lot of food and tasted great! it was recommended to us by a local we met in the store by it called Hope's Closet and she was definitely right. Go try it out! Eating inside and outside is available or take out if you'd like that option. Friendly and family owned.

The food was fantastic. If you go for the birria make sure to pay attention if you want cheese on them or not. I've tried both and loved how flavorable and full the tacos were. I got a mango margarita and that was great too. The only thing I didn't like was the service wasn't the best. Technically I got a frozen margarita instead of on the rocks and they don't come to check on you much. Luckily I'm here for the food and it's always hot and delicious.
If you’re looking for great Mexican food… LOOK NO FURTHER. The inside of this place is so creative. Love the aesthetic! The food is out of this world and tastes authentic. So glad we found this gem.. we will definitely be back frequently! Thank you!!

After an evening at the movies and hitting up Deck the Chairs, our family (party of 7) decided to eat at a nearby Mexican restaurant and chose Taco Libre. Everything from the service, decor, and of course the food did not disappoint. Will definitely hit this place up when we're back on this side of town. Great first impressions for us

Pastor tacos! Now THIS is what a taco is supposed to taste like! I eat here at least once a week and go out of my way to pick up tacos from here. Plus the people who run this place have been feeding the people of our community come hurricane or sun…this is my go to place for the “best tacos”! Oh and they have birria tacos too!
I find their food is consistently pretty bland. But my real issue is several of the front of house workers are downright unpleasant and make you feel almost unwelcome. I think we’ll stick to one of the numerous other taco restaurants in the area with consistently good food and friendly staff. A smile goes a long way.
It is an okay restaurant. The service was nice, prices are reasonable but the food it’s just average nothing wow about it. Again, nothing wrong about the service or restaurant, just the food didn’t had anything wow or special that makes you say “hey let’s go to that place” instead of visiting whatever is near you.
I just stopped into this little restaurant and it was very good and delicious. I was very happy with what I ordered. I ordered the Baja salad, you can have either chicken or steak . Large portion and very nicely done and reasonable prices. They have a good happy hour and the water to drink here is good as well.
Burrito was well stuffed with meat, but sections were over seasoned. Also, a restaurant should be able to wrap up the burrito better than my mother! Overall, really liked it.

Super Awesome Mexican! I've been looking everywhere for a good spot with good food and drinks, now i finally found it! Service was great from the beginning, busy day but got us seated quickly. Drinks were good, chips were warm, cute place and atmosphere . Definitely go to (:
Recently discovered this place which has the same name as one that we went in Saint Augustine Beach. Excellent food , good customer service, very attentive staff. This is a way better option that most the Cantina Louie that you can find in the city of Jacksonville or nearby.
Can you believe it is hard to find delicious crispy tacos in Jacksonville? And I'm not talking about fast food Taco Bell :) loved my vegetarian dinner of crispy veggie tacos topped off with a fresh slice of avocado. Be sure to ask for their hot sauces as they are so good.

Love this place. Best Mexican restaurant I've been to in awhile! They have a great happy hour: 2 for 1! Had great margaritas, really nice server, & great food. Very fond of their fajita burrito and their street tacos are on point! Def a favorite place to be.
The food is AMAZING! I've lived in southern California my whole life and been in florida now a little over 3 years. I've tried so many mexican restaurants since that just wasn't good or didn't feel authentic. This place I ordered twice now
First time in and the place was busy and the food looked AMAZING. Unfortunately, I had to just order and go which may have been why my experience was lacking. I did stand at the host stand for a very long time before I was acknowledged to
The service was excellent! Our waitress was truly passionate about the food here and she should be! It was great! I had the steak taco and it was well seasoned. Another thing I likes was that the menu items were very personalizable. All

4- 8-22- blonde working at 430pm. So rude. If you don't like your waitress job- go somewhere else. You should treat everyone who walks through the door the same and with a friendly smile . Never have I seem this girl smile.
Amazing food!! They never skimp on the meat and toppings, everything comes with a good size salsa and chips too! I’ve had the enchiladas, steak fries and tacos all really great!! The staff is always SO nice and welcoming!
The guac was amazing. Definitely homemade with chunks of avocado in it. Chips were fresh too. The veggie fajita and shrimp salad were great. Service was good. This was our first time there and will be back again.

I’ve tried several street taco places and they are the best in Jacksonville. I always get my tacos Mexican style. They don’t skimp on the meat and chips and salsa are included. I will definitely be returning.
Tried their Birria and Pastor tacos. Both were deli. The birria stew wasn’t warm enough for my licking and the Margarita wasn’t cold enough. Overall a nice experience. Will be back try the rest of their menu.

We had to wait a lot, food is cheap but it’s not really tasty. My husband had a beef burrito and the meat was like sand. The fresco taco had better taste though. Not coming back.
Taco libre always delivers. Amazing food and service every time. We have been coming for years and if we try anywhere else we regret it cause it’s just not as good as here.
Pretty great Taco Tuesday special. Surf and Turf taco is fire flame. They’re also playing Latino BANGERS. Taco Tuesday margaritas are strong but tasty too, for the price.
Have eaten here several times and each has been delicious. Try the tacos since they have a huge selection. Also, if you’re into spicy, ask for a side of chili oil.

Amazing food! Amazing service! No complaints. My only regret is I do not have one near where I live. 10/10 would eat here again!!
Queso is delicious. The Americano taco is my go-to. Tortillas are soft and fresh. Staff remember you and are so sweet.
