Not good for reactive dogs. I brought my rescue dog here twice and both times the vet refused to examine her because she was growling and barking. Understandable on the first visit, but on the second visit, I gave my dog sedation and put a muzzle on her, as per their instructions, and still the vet refused to examine my dog. Beyond throwing treats on the ground and avoiding eye contact, it seems the vet does not have much experience working with fearful or reactive dogs despite being fear-free certified. Even with the muzzle, the vet expressed she was afraid of getting bitten (my dog has no history of biting). The vet also told me my dog would need to be fully sedated in order to be examined, which seemed very inappropriate and just a reflection of her inability to examine any dog that isn't perfectly behaved. I understand it's my responsibility to train my dog to be less reactive in these situations, unfortunately she needs medical care while we're still in the process of training. So the visits felt like a big waste of time and money. To be fair, I did end up receiving the appropriate medication from the vet that she prescribed based on a photo of my dog's issue. But then what was the point of bringing my dog in? Why not suggest a virtual consultation? Why did they put me and my anxious dog through such a stressful second attempt? I had described my dog's behaviour and reactivity in great detail to the receptionist before booking the second visit, and they should've just told me upfront the vet would not be able to examine my dog. Being a new owner, I honestly thought my dog was the issue and was stressed that she might never get examined properly. But I decided to try bringing her back to her previous vet, even though it was a bit of a drive. What a difference! The vet there was not afraid of a little growling and barking, and was able to examine my dog and provide her with the care she needed with no problems. This confirmed my dog wasn't the issue. Tansley Woods did waive the consultation fee the first time though, which I appreciated. I was also able to book an appointment quickly and was seen on time. The staff are also friendly and kind. So I do think this veterinary hospital could be great for non-fearful dogs, but definitely avoid if you have a reactive or aggressive dog.

In early September I adopted a feral (two/three-month?) old kitten. I made an appointment for the fairly large kitten so that he could be examined and have the required vaccinations etc. On both occasions I spoke with the receptionist I emphasized that the cat was feral and NOT tamed. Again when I brought the cat to the clinic I told them the cat was feral and very frightened. It ended up that the cat severely scratched the vet's assistant (on the arms?) drawing blood. The vet came out told me what had happened and that they would put the cat back in the cage, if they could, and that there was nothing they could do at this time. The cat was reported to the Halton Health Dept and I was required to produce a Veterinarian's certificate that the cat was healthy and had received the appropriate shots. About a week after the incident I received a call from the vet enquiring about the cat. The REAL reason for the call was to advise me that it would be better if the cat went to another clinic and not return to Tansley Woods. Due to Covid, it was it was November before I could bring the cat to another clinic to be examined and given the necessary shots and provide the necessary documents to Halton Health that the cat is rabies free and healthy. I cannot comment on the clinic's medical expertise, but I am thoroughly disappointed that they did not follow protocol when dealing with a feral animal. Incidentally, the cat has grown into a gentle loving pet.

This has easily been the best veterinary hospital I’ve ever taken a pet to. Dr. Guatto is fantastic and Willow jumps up to go to the car when I say “let’s go see Dr. Charly”… I’d say that means Willow agrees with me. This visit Willow is on her FIRST course of antibiotics for a yeast infection on her paws. A yeast infection she has battled on and off for 6 years and never offered anything more than ineffective cremes that she was able to clean off quickly. It’s only been a couple of days and she is already much better. Paws are no longer visibly inflamed and red, she hasn’t been at them either, and she’s pretty much stopped scratching everywhere that she had been. We’ve been to Tansley a few times for other concerns that have also had great results, but this ONE visit for this problem and it’s better within 36 hours…. have to love that. The staff at the front are equally terrific, Willow likes to say “hi” to everyone and they’re all super friendly with her, even when she gets “nosy” looking for snacks in their purse or bags :-) Very happy with Tansley Woods Veterinary Hospital!!

5-stars are not enough to rate this vet ! The overall experience is just such a pleasure, making vet visits for both me and my furbabies very pleasant! Dr Hallina El-Ghazawi is an absolute dream veterinarian - she is so patient, so attentive, so kind and very knowledgeable. She didn’t mind getting on her knees to do a physical evaluation for my furbaby and was so patient with him (we even managed to get him to lie still on his side for three exam, which he never does as he really doesn’t enjoy vet visits and presents as quite nervous). What was also very relieving was the fact that we weren’t pushed to pursue expensive investigations for diagnostics like x-rays unless her recommendations, which were far less extreme, didn’t work after a few days - an absolute sigh of relief for any pet parent ! As an extremely protective dog-mom who has done her research, trust me on this, there is not a better vet in town ! We’ve been to 3 vets in the Oakville/ Burlington area - they don’t even come close to Tansley Woods ! I have found our vet!!

THE BEST! We took our Mia here during the last months of her life. She was 13 years old and had just been diagnosed with kidney failure among other things. We had her going to Beattie Animal Hospital her whole life (BIGGEST MISTAKE). The staff at Tansley Woods from the receptionists to the vets and techs. Every single one of you made us feel so confident that she was in the hands of a caring, diligent, and committed team. Although you only knew Mia for a few months the care she received was as if you knew her her whole life. From the first appointment to the day we decided it was time for her to cross the rainbow bridge you all made us feel at ease. Special thank you to Dr. P Petrowski for his wonderful care of our little Mia. He was relatable, his explanations of things were easy to understand. She was so comfortable around him, he was truly amazing. THANK YOU!

Dr. Patrick Petrowski, quite simply put, is an excellent vet. He has all the qualities of a great veterinarian that anyone could hope for. I base this on my experience gained from meeting with many different veterinarians on our family farm and more recently working for a thoroughbred breeder. Dr. Petrowski is compassionate, has a sense of humour and most importantly is able to explain veterinary issues related to your pets health issues in an easily understandable way. I have recommended Tansley Woods Veterinary Hospital, specifically Dr. Petrowski, several times since bringing our pet cat to Tansley Woods in 2015.

We bring our dogs here and they have been fantastic with both our little frenchie and our rescue bully. Desk staff is amazing and always answers questions about records and appointments quickly and thoroughly. The vets are caring and thorough, they always explain what is going on and identify multiple treatment options if possible. I appreciate that they will offer least invasive options and follow up. Response times are quick and we can always get an appointment quickly when unexpected concerns pop up. We are a bit particular with our boys and completely trust Tansley Woods with all their medical needs.

The Doctors and staff at Tansley Woods Vet Hospital have always treated our cat Lucy like family. They're never pushy about medicine for her. If anything, they take a natural approach before prescribing any medicines for ailments. Our cat isn't a fan of vets as most animals aren't, but she's always so well taken care of and loved. Thank you for acting as our extended family to Lucy and taking such good care of her for the last 14 years.

I always have a great experience with the Tansley Woods team. I find their receptionists to be so lovely, understanding, and accommodating and really appreciate that every doctor I've spoken with has taken the time to explain things to me in a way that I can truly follow. They are all very empathetic - I genuinely feel they care about the health and wellbeing of my two dogs.

I've been really impressed, they've treated both my elderly dog and cat with great results. My cat needed a surgery and a dental, so I opted to do it all there and he was very loved, he recovered well and I'm very grateful. They are caring and have always had appointment times to suit my schedule. Dr. Charlie is super nice and Shelly (manager/rvt) is awesome too.

Our lab Dixie went to Limestone Valley animal hospital the sister clinic to Tansley and Dixie always got the best care. When we got Savannah we didn't think twice about Limestone then Tansley knowing the the staff care they provide. It's priceless having a veterinarian clinic you can actually trust.
