I feel like all traditional Chinese/Vietnamese bakeries are located in City Heights and I wanted a very specific flavor that 85 degree, Paris Baguette, and 99 ranch did not offer. I wanted pandan with durian fruit fillings in the Convoy area. So I found Tasty Bakery. This bakery sells individual baked pastries like pate chaud, pandan coconut slices, salted egg sweet bun, taro bread, boba drinks, and cakes. There are already made cakes in the fridge ready to be sold or you can pre-order to customize your own. What to keep in mind: 1. Inside cake flavor - I got pandan 2. Fruit fillings - I got durian 3. Outside icing color - I didn’t understand her and when I picked up, I got a green came which is the color of pandan. I would have asked for pink. 4. Side decoration - I got almond slices 5. Writing - I got happy birthday 6. Writing color - I got red 7. Cake size - I got the smallest which was 6 inches for $28. About 6-8 slices. 8. Pick up date - It was a Sunday and I asked for Tuesday but they are closed Tuesday and offered Monday. Which means they can take orders in 24 hours. 9. Fruit toppings such as strawberries or cherries. I got strawberries. The cake turned out amazing and delicious. The cake is very moist, fluffy, light just like a sponge cake material. It’s green with the pandan flavor. In between the layer are full chucks of durian. The green icing was not too sweet. I’m already looking forward to ordering a taro jackfruit cake for the next celebration.
Got the BBQ pork, custard, and red bean buns, plus some cheese toast. They were all really good, but the bread to red bean ratio was way too much for the steamed red bean bun. I'd get the baked buns instead, which are creamy and soft. The custard was not stale like the other review described and had a yellow pattern on top that turned out to be lemon! BBQ pork bun is about what you'd expect, but with pork chunks instead of "pulled" pork texture. Lastly, the toast was delicious and milky, but you don't get the cheese until the middle. But I guess that's to be expected. I'd definitely come again!
This family owned business is a local gem. They specialize in Chinese Vietnamese baked goods including custom cakes. I ordered a taro cake with taro filling and it was delicious! A 8" custom two layer cake was $32. The cake was light and airy, not too sweet. The filling was a layer of real taro that has been sweetened and also a cream layer. I'm looking forward to trying their other cakes! When I went to pick up the cake, I noticed they also had a small number of premade cakes in the fridge. Seemed slightly cheaper than the custom cakes. Easy and fast service.
We got a small coffee cake for my little cousins birthday, the customer service was on point and when we got there they had the cake ready to go. We also got the hotdog bread, the pork bun, and a taro bun, all three of them being super good and you can tell that the bread was baked fresh. The cake was also really good with the perfect amount of icing to cake ratio, and the cake was super light and fluffy with the coffee flavor being spot on. Overall a really great experience and for sure going to come here again.
The best item in the shop is their pate chaud. It is savory puff pastry with a meat filling. It can be found at the cashier counter. The best thing I tasted was their coconut buns and hot dog buns. I was not impressed by the bbq pork bun because it was dry on the inside. The custard buns were sitting out a little bit too long and it had a fermented taste. The wife cakes didn’t taste that good either.
Was from out of town and was my daughters 1st birthday. We could not find a bakery near our hotel but stumbled onto Tasty Bakery after several closed bakeries still listed as open. Anyway the bread, cake, cupcakes, slushy and drinks were delicious! Was able to get a delicious 8in cake with fresh fruit on top and b-day message in 5 min. Great place!
Good pastries and boba tea selection. Update: They also make cakes to order for special occasions. I got a Taro cake with Taro cream filling, and coconut flakes outside and fruits on top. They carry candles as well - including the ones that open up like a flower and rotate.
Was just there but was disappointed. Was greeted by a server who wasn't happy to be there. Not much choices plus the black paste bao was so thick with very little fillings. Yet to taste the other stuff I bought but I doubt I will be back. Very bad first impression …
They have the best tasting pate so in town. Get them fresh and the delicious ground pork is shrouded in a flaky croissant-like crust. And they are so nice. I also bought a birthday cake there. So moist inside with layer of custard. I have never been disappointed.
Very charming, wide selection and reasonable prices!

Just like the bakeries in Chinatown in NYC. A blast of flavor from my childhood. Amazing. Best sponge I've had since I left the east coat. Everything is great. The pork buns, the curry dumplings. Try it all. Very reasonably priced.
The star of the show is their Meat Pie (minced pork with onions) baked in a flakey, crispy and delicate dough like a croissant. They sometimes aren't displayed on the cashier counter so you have to ask for it. $2 each
I've only tried the various baked and steamed bao, and they're generally pretty good. My only complaint is that the sweet bao (namely the egg custard bao) didn't seem very fresh.
Really delicious pork bun and curry puff. The pineapple breads is also gorgeous. The bakeries here don’t have a high end look but they are really well made! Highly recommend!
Little bakery great flavors . So fresh and great snacks and cakes. Drinks are good too! Already brought coworkers in! Thank you for being so close to my job! …
I have been going to this place for all my cakes. They are the best. They take care of you like family. Thank you for always having good customer service.
Love this place use to work right next to it at hobby people been going here for idk like 15 years food is outstanding and the price is just right!
Got a birthday cake here and it was exactly what I wanted. Vanilla chiffon cake with light frosting and fruit on top. Very very good.
Delicious, light cakes and pastries. Good boba and French coffee. Nice folks, always a smile.
The pastries were decent, but the microwaved coffee with added hot water was a let down.
Excellent curry puffs; that’s what the regulars order, it seems. Great prices too
One of my son's favorite places to buy meat filled buns!
