I attended this as part of a company off-site, and as the Eureka room demands, no one really knew what we were getting into. We had a private session booked for the 8 of us. I will say it worked very well as a team-bonding experience, as we all talked about it for the rest of the evening, and I'm sure we'll continue to reference in-jokes from the experience. The attendant (I forgot her name, sorry - I know the creator of the Eureka room is Mike, and we were hosted by a woman) was very nice, she made sure to offer any accommodations people might need such as chairs, she made sure everyone was comfortable with the temperature. That said, the actual Eureka room experience is probably about twice as long as it needs to be, for the same experience / effect. Each of the segments of the experience started to drag on, and I really felt they could have been cut to 75% of the time, or even half the time, and I would have enjoyed it more. The other folks in my group agreed when I suggested that feedback. We're asked not to spoil the actual experience, so I won't reveal any more on that part. I like supporting small and local artists, and I would have been happy to buy something in the gift shop, but there was only shirts. I think this would have been a great opportunity to feature work from other local artists for sale, or have more small items referencing the Eureka room experience (a poster, stickers, a notebook, etc) - otherwise I would suggest scrapping the gift shop part because it felt weird with such a limited selection of items, just like it was an afterthought.

NO SPOILERS I really struggled with this place. I am pretty silly, always been called weird my whole life, and I love absurd humor. But this just was not it for me. Without spoiling anything, this very much had the same kind of energy as a early internet ebaum’s world type of viral video from the early 2000s. Which I found hilarious when I was in middle school and love for nostalgia’s sake, but that stuff doesn’t hold up well 20 years later. There were 2 main activities. I enjoyed both at first, but they both got old fast. Each activity involved very simple (albeit absurd) steps, repeating steps over and over and over, going on wayyyy too long. If the activities were shorter, and there were more than these 2 very basic activities, I may have had more fun. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because I loved how queer this place was, suuuuper queer friendly. People are allowed to be themselves here which I really appreciate. Also warning — if you have any physical disabilities that make standing for more than a few minutes uncomfortable and painful, this is NOT for you. You stand for 1 hour in a small enclosed space with a total of 8 people.

As stated in previous comments, this experience is definitely not for everyone. The mystery of it all is what attracted my friends and I to book the $25+ tax ticket. We traveled from Houston and thought this would be a fun and interesting activity for us. The owner is very nice and sweet and I am sure has a passion for this concept, however this was the BIGGEST waste of money we have ever had. The interactive activities were things I would do with my Pre-Kindergarten aged kids as a teacher. The website states this is for 16 years of age and up but it was childish and honestly I believe ages 5 -12 would get a better kick out of it than teens and adults. All of the four activities were things I could do at home watching a YouTube video. We were extremely disappointed! My recommendation is to take away the mystery and be upfront with what the experiences are like so that you can attract the right crowds. This was extremely overpriced! A movie ticket is a better deal than this. PS - We did not receive MAXIUMUM PSYCH!!!

The Eureka Room is exactly what Austin art is all about and is doing everything possible to Keep Austin Weird. My friend and I attended, after my husband bought me tickets but told me not to read anything and not to look for spoilers. He knows I love art, love weird stuff, and love people, so he thought I'd enjoy it, and he was right! It's best not to know too much going in, but know that you'll be in a room with about 6 people total, watching various video projections and doing activities, engaging with the art and the other people in the room with you. You'll have a good time if everyone who goes likes interacting with others and enjoys silly, weird art/theatre. It's not a place for those who fancy themselves too cool or reserved to engage in play. It IS a place for letting go of your worries, engaging in absolute silliness, feeling the pure joy that only art and other humans can together make come to life, and loving the hell out of the fact that you're in Austin and something like this exists. Enjoy!
The Eureka room is a pleasant experience for those who are looking to lightly participate in a series of immersive scenes! There are lights, voices, colors, and activities for a small group of people to enjoy and be wondered by. If you're a performer or artist, I think you'll super enjoy it! If you're not, I think you'll still super enjoy it!! The host/owner, Michael, is a friendly and welcoming presence and I could tell right away how passionate he is about The Eureka Room, which makes the experience that much better, because he cares a lot! He assured that we felt safe, comfortable, and excited. Whenever I'm in Austin, I'm surely heading back to The Eureka Room for more fun, creative times! *update: The owner was able to make time for my friend to experience The Eureka Room as well, because they weren't able to do it the day before, and the owner even participated with us...AND IT WAS JUST AS GREAT!!!

As long as your not like a stuffy super type B personality you'll have a fun time. This is good quick fun - plane and simple. If you don't walk out in a better mood then you went in It's probably more a you thing then the experience. If youre looking for a picasso this ain't it. But if you want a 45 minute fun totally different activity and you can bring an open mind and a possitive attitude and you know how to possitively interact with other humans you'll have a great time. Keep it in context. This is 45 mins... its like 25 bucks... its something to do, its different, maybe a little weird, but fun, and a good time... in my opinion theres a bit of a (for lack of a better explanation) "inside joke" to 80s babies going on here. If you grew up in the 80s or 90s and youre someone who can go with the flow a bit and just "get into it" you'll have a great time. My wife and I definitely thought it was great. Highly recommend.
Was visiting Austin for the first time from Fort Worth because my friend from California was visiting — we first went to the SARF and Wendy there recommended us this place with no information and just said it was her friend and was kinda weird and absurd HAHA We had tickets for Banksyland that slightly overlapped, but decided to take a shot with this and are SO glad we did. My favorite aspects was being in there with 4 other people who were just chill and good vibes. It was so nice to share a transient fun experience with kind strangers. All I will say is go in ready to have fun, be playful, and go with the flow.

The Eureka Room is a breathtaking, immersive experience that ingeniously merges art and technology. As you step into this dynamic, personalized space, you're transported into a realm of colors, light, and sound, creating a symphony of emotions that simultaneously soothes and excites. The combination of augmented and virtual reality invites exploration, triggering 'eureka' moments of discovery that remind us of the wonder and curiosity often lost in our digital age. It's a one-of-a-kind artistic marvel that pushes the boundaries of experiential art and is an absolute must-visit for all.

We wanted to try the Eureka Room after seeing all the glowing yet mysterious reviews of it. The experience was supposed to be weird, interesting, and so so so much fun, according to the reviews. Well, it was not weird, interesting or fun for me and my partner. There were three plays, which were all going for this absurd/weird/fun vibe, which, I would have appreciated if it was done in a creative way. But they all failed for me. My son, when he was in preschool, would have fun here. Not for me. Save your money and time. There are much better things to do with $25 in Austin.

There was a lot of hype for what essentially is standing in a tiny room with flashing lights and a video. We went in with all the hype we could muster, but not even that was enough. Even the strangers we went with lost hope of something more fun after the twenty five minute mark. I am an immersive experience enthusiast and can confidently say this one is worth missing. Save your $25 and get a fun cocktail in DT Austin instead. You’ll find more whimsy on sixth street.

The uncertainty of the experience is what peaked mine and my husband’s curiosity. I’ll help out with the uncertainty for other people. We left the event early due to realizing our money was wasted within 5 minutes. If you like high fiving strangers and seeing dell screen savers go across a wall then you might enjoy this. I left feeling defeated and unmotivated to do anything else the rest of the evening. It was not immersive or a unique bonding experience.

Based on all the great reviews my husband and I did the Eureka room experience. Overall it was very underwhelming. I had been to MeowWolf in NM and that had the same "mystery" to it, but MeowWolf blew me away. This was an hour suck in a small room doing fist pumps, high fives, and waiting around for something to happen. Our whole group was not impressed and we didn't even know the other 6 people. I had high hopes, but this was a disappointment.

My son booked this for us because we enjoy new experiences. However this was a big disappointment. We read the reviews and were stunned that people found this a positive experience. I really tried to get into it but it was simply standing in a room following instructions from a voice to “high five” the person next to you. Please do not compare this to MeowWolf! You will be sadly disappointed

The Eureka Room is incredible. It is definitely For groups of friends who appreciate the absurd, the creative, and the interactive. 10/5 stars. I could never have imagined the art installation that we were walking into. It is truly one of the most unique and fun experiences around Austin. Also Mike is a lovely human. Super responsive through email, and even wrote a happy birthday note to the bday girl in our bunch!!! Absolutely wonderful experience with him! I highly highly recommend a visit!!
If you’re reading this review you’ve already put more effort into researching this activity than the creators put into making it. Sadly, this was a regrettable use of time and money. I’ve done immersive art experiences in the past and like supporting funky local businesses…. But it’s hard to describe this other than dumb. It was really boring, and even when trying to see it as “artistic” I couldn’t see really any merit to it. About 30 min into this my group and I realized the mistake we made.
Very underwhelming overall. I joined a group of 3 adult strangers and had no idea what to expect besides that it had good reviews. Everyone played along but it didn't seem very interactive at all, just goofy visuals and simplistic animations/video. Might be fun for ages 5-12, or if you're stoned out of your mind, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.

This is the epitome of a lazy cash grab disguised as "quirky" and "goofy". It's $25 to pretend that you're a bird, put plastic fruit in bowls, and pump your fist on command. I went with a professional comedian and even she couldn't make this an enjoyable experience. That said, if you're 6 yrs old or severely under the influence then you might enjoy this.

I cannot compare this to any experience I've ever have. We didn't have enough people in our group, but booked at a time with strangers and it was great. Don't read spoilers even though it's tempting. This was an interesting artistic experiment. It’s a fun idea for a small friend-group or a date night for people who want to be silly for a little while. However, the execution did not meet my expectations. I would not recommend this for a first date as the experience lends itself to a variety of awkward moments.

About as “immersive” as a kids roller coaster. Get ready for about 30 minutes of looking at colors, followed by a “whimsical” and “silly” experience comparable to eating rock salt. The eureka room is as enjoyable as bell peppers are spicy. A tip for anyone that wants to go here? Be on the spectrum.

An interactive meme. Highly recommend you go with a sizable group, at least four. It's pretty weird in the best way possible, and its the most fun when you really get into it. Don't look too hard to find what's inside, it's best if you are surprised. If you and your friends are looking for a crazy and unique experience like nothing else, you don't want to miss this!

Had a great time with some friends here. The host/artist Mike is super cool and inviting. You show up at Mike's house and watch a short introduction video before heading into the room. Some of it is cool visuals and some is fun, interactive games you play with 4 or 5 other people. The whole thing was about an hour. Everyone had a blast! Highly recommend if you're into having an immersive experience.
If you are up for a random time with strangers, getting silly, laughing, and maybe testing your reflexes, this is the place for you! I had a great time; definitely think the more the merrier if you go, but we had plenty of fun with two pairs. Mike has something special here.

It’s definitely a one-of-a-kind experience and a great example of the sorts of hidden magical wonderful weirdness that makes Austin the best. Thanks Mike!!! Will recommend to anyone!

I’m from Phoenix and was looking for something interesting to do that wasn’t just a bar/typical nightlife. Found this on google and decided to give it a shot. I went alone but need up chatting it up with the other participants before the program began. The experience itself was colorful, goofy, humorous and engaging. Definitely worth a visit!
Watching paint dry would be more entertaining. My 9 month old daughter would draw better graphics than what they show you. The only fun you will have is if you were intoxicated or incredibly bored. Waste of time and money.

Our group of five went in not having any clue what to expect, and we had a blast. So. much. laughing. The jokes go on for days -- the side effect of being immersed in something so unusual and one-of-a-kind. Highly recommend for families, shaking up your usual movie night routine, or wanting to jump start your own creativity.

As others have mentioned, I'm not sure where the positive reviews are coming from. Don't get me wrong, the staff were friendly but the experience itself? I found it quite boring. I gave it 2 stars because of staff being good but I would really give the "unique" experience one star. The video in the beginning is too long.
This could get five stars or one all depending on how open you are and willing to participate. Nothing scary, all good (albeit very goofy) fun - $25 we’ll spent for one of the most unique hours you’ll ever have.

Had a wonderful time at the eureka room today! Mike is an interesting guy to talk to and the eureka room is a fun and interactive experience that (without saying too much) brings out your inner child and spirit - I’m so glad we checked this out.
Pretty much a waste of money. . You’re just standing in a box high fiving everybody for like 20 minutes.. and the rest is fist pumps and saying “yes” and “ok” . . is it different? yes. . But it’s hardly entertaining and very under stimulating
The experience is about the equivalent of putting a quirky YouTube video on a 70 inch TV and watching it with a friend. The Eureka room is not worth $25. To sum it up, you will watch a video, give your group some high fives, scream "yes" at
I rarely leave reviews for anything, but I am very motivated to leave a cautionary review here. This experience gave very culty vibes from the start. The best part of the hour was getting to know the other participants before going into the
There is a lot of potential with this concept, I just wish they would have made it more of a “game” or more interactive. It was a lot of watching and not as much having fun (except for the thanksgiving bit). A bit overpriced in my opinion.
Just. No. There is nothing particularly artful or thoughtful about this. My friend and I felt traumatized afterwards - it was *that* painful to get through. A screen yells at you for most of the time. It's obnoxious, boring, and nothing
The Eureka room is so fun! It’s definitely something that gets you out of your comfort zone and is out of the ordinary but everyone was laughing and had a good time. A quick experience (only about an hour) so definitely worth a visit!
This is one of the most unique and interesting experiences I’ve had since I moved to Austin. Went into it with zero expectations, and had a fantastic time. I highly recommend bringing a bunch of friends to do this. It was hilarious.
It isn’t for everyone but I had a great time! If you go willing to embrace the silliness and absurdity I’m sure you’ll enjoy it to! I did notice the most type A person in our group did not have a great time so take that as you want!
If you are ready to have fun... visit The Eureka Room- there is a lot of fun and engaging activities. I live in SC, but every time I visit Austin, I must stop by The Eureka Room. Thanks for sharing such as cool and fun place.
I loved this experience. It was fun and exciting and had my group laughing and smiling the entire time. The host was also super nice! If you're in Austin looking for something to do, definitely give The Eureka Room a try!!
Fun experience with a lot of laughing, smiling and high 5s. A great thing to do if you’re looking for something new and different. Mike is a cordial host and I recommend this to anyone who likes to have fun and silly. More
The eureka room is one of the most unique experiences! The humor is peak! A bit of interactive theatre mixed with a comedy show. Very excited to see it at its new location, great things in the eureka room future! More
A good fun weird experience. Interactive with strangers and a unique way to spend an hour.

Lots of fun and so unique. Came with my partner with little knowledge about what it is, (as you should) and had a lot of fun with the other strangers/friends. So happy we made time to visit this gem. More

It's best of I don't share too much about this place, but just know it's loads of fun. If you're in Austin I definitely recommend making plans to visit. And remember, you are the bird. More
So much fun. Such a fun, goofy, awesome experience to do with friends. Highly recommend if you're looking for something a little more old school "Keep Austin Weird" and less escape room-y
Really fun and silly experience! I went with my wife and we did the experiences with several other people we never met and had a lovely time. I love passion project businesses like this!
Indescribably fun! I laughed harder than I have in a long time.

We had a blast at this place today! So much fun and highly recommended. Helpful hint: the less you know about the Eureka Room, the more you'll enjoy the one-of-a-kind experience!
Funny. Worth spending the moment here. Not enough laughter in the world. Have a friend visiting in the heat? Have a day off? Needing a laugh? Check it out. …

It was fun and all but it felt a bit low effort and kinda cash grab-y I wish there was more to it, once it got fun the experience was over More
Was a one of a kind experience, would 100% recommend checking out. Fun thing to do while you’re visiting in the city, or living here!
Small? Yes. Intimate? Yes. Strange? Check. Delightfully FUN Experience?? Absolutely!
