I was out last night for a friends birthday and I was sober drinking water. I spotted a man who kept buying drinks at the bar and stood in different areas of the Poobah trying to give random girls one of his drinks for free. This same man grabbed me inappropriately on the dance floor and I watched him do the same to multiple other woman. I approached a security guard and explained the situation only to be told “we will keep an eye on him”. I left the venue because I was feeling unsafe, as they didn’t keep an eye on this man and he continued his antisocial and harassment behaviour and grabbed me again for a second time. I then returned to the bar hours later, only to find that the same man was still in there doing the exact same thing and the security guard I approach for a second time waved me away. As a woman who has previously been roofied and assaulted on a night out, I am appalled and disgusted at the behaviour of the security guard who simply didn’t care enough to intervene. It’s bad enough that people are out there acting like this - it’s even worse when the people who are paid to protect the patrons and staff at clubs dismiss this behaviour and allow people like that man I encountered last night to continue to harass woman. As a woman, my safety and the safety of other woman is a priority and I recommend to all of you if you are a woman, DON’T GO TO THE POOBAH. Because even if you call out the disgusting behaviour of someone - they don’t care. Pretty devastated to be writing this at the Poobah has been my favourite club for years but now I don’t see myself ever feeling safe there. Please look after yourselves and each other.

The bouncer was very arrogant. He was grabbing some woman while on duty outside the door and it was just disturbing … he denied me entry claiming it’s lockout but It was only 1am and if I’m correct Poobah doesn’t do that until 2-3am from what locals have told me? I wasn’t drunk or rude at all and in proper attire. so this behaviour is just odd. I’m from America and was looking around bars for my travel blog as I have a high amount of followers who like seeing the worst-best clubs/bars in the world. Definitely rating this place a 1/10. Need to do something about your unprofessional bouncers. Especially fondling a woman while on duty. A few other people who saw was repulsed as well.

As a female, I had a really uncomfortable experience here recently with a male patron at this venue where I’ve only visited a few times. The bouncer who I think usually works out the front (not sure of name) took the issue very seriously and removed the problem person straight away. Made me feel safe and validated, which I don’t often feel at other night clubs in Hobart. It’s nice to know that there are people out there who care so much about patron safety. Thank you so much Poobah staff :)

This place has a great vibe, I've had some of my best nights out in Hobart at this establishment. There's regularly cool bands playing or DJ's playing good new music to keep you going all night. They are the only place in Hobart that sells club mate too which helps keep the party going. There's 2 rooms usually with different musical acts happening in both so you can move between both rooms to keep the night interesting.

Spacious venue with two main areas. There are often events, which almost always incur a door fee these days. There's usually a lot of people here on Saturdays and it can be a great place to drink, chill or see a gig. You'll nearly always see a lot of people sitting out the front smoking as there's no smoking area within the venue. It's not uncommon for people to be on drugs, that is no fault of the venue though.

A great LIMBO party the other night. More gay people should have come. Consider expanding marketing! A good crowd overall. Would have been great to have more 90s dance music; That's just my personal preference. I spoke with about 6 people outside the club that didn't want to come in because of the cover charge; It was $30 to enter. Well done on putting a good party together!

Good place to hang out with friends. I went there for my friend's birthday party. They've got karaoke but the only problem it's an open mic so if you're down to sing for the crowd then this is the place else you're better off watching people sing with songs you wished you hear it better when it is your iTunes. Overall chill place and nice atmosphere but too dark.

It's a nice enough little venue. I've been here twice now. The atmosphere of the place is nice and gives a comfortable impression, particularly in the smaller room. The entrance to the venue is via a flight of steep stairs, so if you are somebody who is living with reduced mobility you may find accessibility to be challenging.

Great live music and dancing venue. The most original bar in Hobart by a long shot - if your looking for nightlife in Hobart avoid the Salamanca brigade and come here. They have an awesome glow in the dark table tennis room.

Waited 40 minutes for a drink while bar staff served and chatted to their mates. One patron was served 3 times whilst I was waiting. When I eventually was served I felt very unwelcome. Maybe just picked a bad night?

Awesome place, friendly staff, really awesome and chill vibe. If you're staying in Hobart even for a short time I strongly suggest coming down here to have some fun! Great place to play some pool too!

Went and saw some mates at The Battle of the Bands earlier in the week and was not disappointed! Great service, great space and the talent of this small but diverse city was exciting to see.

Great atmosphere Saturday night. A good mix of talent/ music techno/house from all over. Beer is a little pricey and nice decor. This place would be awesome with a smokers/courtyard!!

Went to a halloween party at tbe nightclub. Service was fairly good with 3 staff maning the bar. Club is small and intimate with a Great vibe with nice crowd.

Wasn't even open. Advertised as an event and nothing saying it was closed or anything. The poster next to the door even said it was meant to be open

DJ looked like a somehow uglier version of Casey Neistat. Same haircut and glasses but. Luckily its dark in there and I was tilted anyway. Nice.

Good music events. Only downside is that it can take a while to get a drink if it's busy. Perhaps they were just understaffed on the day though.

Great venue for performance events. Bar staff are really friendly and fast. Very good choice of bar for a Friday or Saturday out.

Very relaxed atmosphere. Good use of space and good range of acts. One of the better places of its kind in Hobart.

Good place, but you really need to update the location of the pub, Google maps takes you one block away. :)

One of the better live music venues around. Usually busy on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Very hit and miss, great events some nights, but becomes a sleazy, loud hot-box at times.
