Looking for a place to stay in the McLaren Vale area can be fraught with frustration with so many fine places on offer. Do we go McLaren Central or opt for rural remote? I chose the middle ground for a cycling weekend away with my grandson. Willunga looked about right - it is after all the end of the Coast to Vines cycling trail and small enough to be a little bit private. The Grape and Olive jumped off the page and I selected this little hideaway mostly on instinct. I wasn't wrong. We select the two-bedroomed unit - the Olive - and pedalled off to Willunga. Located a three-minute bicycle ride from the 'Centre' this family-run BnB is tucked away at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. The Olive was well appointed, with aircon, ceiling fan, a large double bed and two single beds, Both rooms opened on to a shared bathroom. The living area was cosy with a well-equipped kitchen. A flat-screen TV and DVD player were available for entertainment. The fixtures were all modern, well-made and solid. Most impressive. We both slept exceptionally well in the comfortable beds and appreciated the cleanliness of the whole establishment. We opted for the full DIY breakfast package at additional cost: cereal, orange juice, sausages, bacon, hash browns, mushrooms, rolls butter and preserves it was lunch and dinner rolled into one. There's no Wi-Fi available and that's no disadvantage if you either want to put down your devices for a weekend or you have ample data of your own. Overseas guests may be handicapped if they don't have an accessible data plan. Finally, there are outside tables and chairs posted in a little garden and dedicated off-road parking spots for both units. Negotiations with owners Rachel and Mark were stressless and easy and the $100.00 security bond was returned on the same day. All in all a spot-on choice that I would happily return to.

We had a lovely stay at the Grape and Olive and would be more than happy to leave reviews - I'll get onto it now. We had had a hectic week sorting out my father's affairs as he moves into aged care. As we live in Melbourne it's challenging to say the least and we were exhausted by the end of our time in Adelaide. Staying in Willunga was our 'mini break' - sadly more mini than we'd have liked - and the stay was absolutely perfect. You've created a fantastic space and we came away feeling refreshed and relaxed. Even the choice of DVDs was a boon - because we'd had a big lunch at the Victory Hotel, we skipped dinner and just had some cheese and biscuits while watching Shrek 2. Just what we needed. Thanks again Rachel, we'd certainly stay again if we're over that way

We stayed at the « Olive », one of the two cottages (the other one being the « Grape »). It was so comfortable, lovely decorated and well fitted with anything you may need. Perfect spot when travelling around Adelaide and south to the McLaren Vale and through the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula. Very quiet, cosy and warm at night. Would happily stay again next time in the region. Also in regard to Willunga make sure to check out the shops in the town, have an incredible dinner at Muni and stop by the farmers market if you’re there on a Saturday morning…

The stay and the Grape and Olive was short, but great. Booked this accommodation for my daughters wedding last week for some special quests. The accommodation was clean, cosy, comfortable and close to amenities at Willunga. Would highly recommend and stay again. The process from booking to departure was simple. All extra requirements and requests were handled quickly and professionally. Thank you Rachel and Mark.

Lovely clean, quiet and well appointed accomodation. We stayed here for our son’s wedding which was held nearby. We were able to have 8 family members stay by renting both units which gave us plenty of space. Lovely garden and verandah to sit outside. Mark and Rachel were great hosts, nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely stay here again.

Immaculately clean and plenty of bathroom products and stocked kitchen. Spacious inside and verandah provided a lovely location for a sheltered drink in the sun. Highly recommend as very close to Willunga historic main street and close to McLaren Vale and many wineries. Very efficient and professional owners. Easy to do business with.
