I’ve never reviewed a business before but greatly felt the need after our first visit at The Heights. We’ve been looking for a decent vet in the Tampa area for over a year now and I’m so happy to say we’ve finally found one, an amazing one. We decided to try The Heights after spending a lot of money at our previous vet who didn’t seem to take our concerns seriously. At our previous vet, I brought one of our dogs, Storm in for concern over her teeth and was told she’s fine... she just needs a teeth cleaning in the next 6 months and was quoted $650 for the cleaning. I felt there was more going on with her teeth so I decided to try The Heights. Dr. Eric Mondschein came outside himself to meet us and discuss Storm’s issues (this in itself was already better than our previous vet who, since Covid started would only speak to us for 5 minutes tops over the phone during an exam.) He then looked at Storm’s teeth outside with us and within 10 seconds of seeing her teeth, showed me she had severely fractured two teeth. He educated us, showing how to spot fractures and laid out my 3 options for fixing her teeth, one of which was a referral to an experienced dental surgeon in the area for a root canal. I appreciated his honesty regarding other vet’s expertise and his connections in the area. He explained he is able to extract the teeth himself, but let us know a root canal may be possible to save the teeth but this was a surgery needed to be done by a dental specialist. He took pictures of her teeth to send the pictures to the dental specialist to see if a root canal was possible. He then took Storm into the clinic to finish the exam. He was not pushy with vaccines and he does not require the bordetella or canine influenza vaccine prior to surgeries, as our previous vet did. I expected the vet tech to bring Storm outside once they were finished, but Dr. Eric Mondschein came out again to speak with us further! He spent over 30 minutes himself with us. If you’re looking for a vet who cares and will go the extra mile for your pet on top of really knowing his stuff, I’d recommend going to The Heights. The vet tech was awesome too, she was sweet and very organized. Reasonable prices too!

The home page of the practice notes that: “The Heights Veterinary Clinic is proud to provide outstanding pet care to some of Tampa’s greatest neighborhoods including Tampa Heights, Riverside Heights, Seminole Heights, Downtown Tampa, Channelside, and South Tampa.” Interestingly, there is a substantial neighborhood just on the other side of I-275 from this practice, known as “East Tampa”, which seems to not be among “Tampa’s greatest neighborhoods.” It also has the qualities of being predominantly black and no doubt home to persons of lesser income and wealth than the denizens of “Tampa’s greatest neighborhoods.” I live in East Tampa. I have three dogs, of different ages, all of them shelter adoptions. Looking for a new vet, I wrote this practice to ask for a list of their prices for their most commonly performed procedures. Everyone should be doing this now, and every veterinary practice should already be publishing this information on its website. The clinic manager wrote back to refuse, giving no reason, and offering the impertinence that “we can always give you an estimate of services during your appointment.” Sorry, Leslie, that is not what I asked for. I imagine most of the glowing reviews here come from residents of “Tampa’s greatest neighborhoods”, who, of course, probably don’t worry about details like price information too much. Perhaps that is what makes the neighborhoods in which these nice people live, and from which this practice desires its customers to come, “Tampa’s greatest.” One must give THVC points for its unexpected candor as to whose business it wants, and whose it does not.

Dr. Mondschien is an exceptional vet. From the time you enter the office it is obvious he loves animals. Normally I have to muzzle my dog because she bites, but I have never had to muzzle her at his office. She is very relaxed and calm with him and his staff. I actually found Dr Mondschien at his previous office and I have stayed with him now for 7 or more years now. I really appreciate his honesty and how he takes the time to explain the options and costs of treatment. He has always offered both organic / natural solutions and standard Western medicine options. He explains the pros and cons of both but always leaves the decision up to me. A few years ago, when my dog had a torn ACL, Dr. M recognized it immediately and explained what would be involved to repair the knee. He saved me a lot of money by taking the X-rays and blood tests at his office. (Most vets did not have the x-ray equipment required for this surgery) Dr. M referred me to an outstanding surgeon who was able to repair the knee. My dog is extremely active and loves to run and jump, so having a damaged knee was very serious. She made a full recovery and remains exceptionally active even now. Dr Mondschien’s new office and staff are GREAT. He has a full-service office able to handle everything from emergencies to acupuncture, laser treatments to fleas, and yearly shots. If you are looking for a vet and a staff that really cares about your animals and can offer you various treatment alternatives, this is the office for you and your pets.

I had such high hopes but am truly disappointed. I sat on this place for a while, hesitant to book only because it takes a lot out of my old pup to travel, but finally decided to give in because of its “holistic” name and great reviews… I feel like I was duped. They were so booked out so I will give it to the doctor that he must be super busy, but I made sure to have my pets records sent weeks in advance so that the doctor could review and be well prepared for our in person visit. Unfortunately this was not the case. At the time I felt I should be getting answers.. I was being told he would have to review my pets info, that it’s been too busy to do that thoroughly ahead of time and he’ll get back to me via phone call. I just feel this was the complete opposite of how it should go. I waited a while for this visit with super high hopes. The only saving grace was Carly, the technician, and bless her for that. She was very knowledgeable, comforting and gave me the kind of answers and information I was hoping to hear from the doctor. It puts alot of stress on my animal to travel and honestly this was my last attempt bringing her somewhere to try and get valuable information.. I feel it was wasted. I’m questioning the entire nature of how they are “holistic” ??

I highly recommend the Heights Veterinary Clinic. Our dog is very afraid of the vet and does not do well with shots/examinations. Dr. Haworth made sure to introduce himself to our pet and make our dog feel comfortable first before the examination began. We had to come back a few times due to my dog being so afraid, but Dr. Haworth was SO patient and understanding with our little guy and suggested we do multiple visits. Dr. Haworth truly wants what is best for your pet and if that means more work for him and his team than that is what they will do to make your dog feel safe and at ease while in their care. We also recently saw a social media post about a medication our dog is taking, and reached out via email to make sure it is okay to continue to give the medication to our dog. Within the hour, Dr. Haworth called us and let us know every active ingredient in the drug and thoroughly explained everything and any potential side effects. We feel at ease knowing our dog is in good care and if anything we’re to happen, we could easily get ahold of the doctor. They truly care about your pet and I cannot recommend them enough.

Please note: no assessment was performed to determine the nature of my pets condition and urgency. Instead, my wife was told the soonest they could see our pet was 2 weeks. Not sure if this is just an office for quick visits or an actual clinic. But, be advised, as per the owner this is not a location that has the facilities to care for your pet. Based on assumption, only labs and exams are performed with no other services provided. Original: Great if you’re already a VIP established client willing to finance your house to pay for the visit. Terrible if your pet has an urgent need to see a doctor. I’m highly disappointment in the inattention and uncaring attitude the staff has regarding a sick pet. Their solution: go to blue pearl, we don’t deal with sick pets… I’m so distraught by such a demeanor that I don’t think anyone with a legitimate concern should go here. Please look out and advocate for your pet, because they clearly don’t care unless you’re easy and willing to pay the premium.

The Heights Vet Clinic, Dr. M and his entire staff are the best pet care team I have ever seen. We were a Week 1 patient, having followed Dr. M from Bayshore Animal Clinic when he moved his practice closer to our home in Tampa Heights. Our Finley, a senior yellow lab, had several issues common to older dogs, and Dr. M and his team always went out of their way to carefully and patiently explain treatment options. Towards Finley's end, the Heights Vet team was so compassionate and creative when it came to managing Finley's care. When we made the wrenching decision to let Finley go, and relieve the suffering that had accumulated in abundance, Dr. M and his loving team made an inevitably horrible experience one of peace, closure, and love. If you come across a group of people that are exceptional at their job, and in a job that requires a high degree of trust, it is good to call it out. The Heights Vet Clinic, Dr. M and his entire staff are exceptional.

Update: initially 5* b/c the doc friendly and proactive. But now? Front desk staff is... Well. When I brought back an item I was charged for that I didn't need, the woman said I "threw it at her". So preposterous. She then tried to say my free followup 10 min appt (because error on their tech's part) was covered by said $50 item. Tried several times to wave me away. Precisely that amount?? After I was supposed to get a refund? Then refused to look at me, huffed, and got defensive when I said there was a misunderstanding. Why so personal? I'm super friendly and professional. Had to press multiple times for details/explain I was there because they were correcting an error. Weird. Office was clean, nice vets. They are high priced but a lot of vets are now, so expect $350 for an annual visit w labs etc. Most ppl have an uneventful visit, but beware if you have an issue and unprofessional employees/disappointing service bothers you.

Warning. 5 stars come with a price. I am talking about money. But I can't say anything negative because they are very good at what they do. They diagnosed my little Elsie after many different ways of trying to find what was wrong with her. Many tests and a few years of pure illness that I brought her here for another opinion. They discovered she had Addison's and even though she's a little chubby from the steroids, she's finally living a life without pain and suffering that would bring some people to actually put your pet down. But I was resilient and refused to give up helping her. So this is how the Heights became part of my life. All my other animals are in good shape and I can take them to more reasonably priced vets for all their needs. So yes they deserve the five stars but in this day and time I'm not sure just everyone can afford every day care at this veterinarian.

So happy this place is in the neighborhood. Rescued a 7yr old Maltese/Poodle. He had some dental problems and itchy skin. I brought him in for initial checkup, they set me up with some supplements for the itchy skin and it was cleared up in a week. Then he had his dental appointment, full deep cleaning and some teeth had to be removed. A couple of days later little man is fully recovered and happier than ever. The vets and their techs are wonderful, they are quick and efficient but also super sweet and friendly. They know their stuff and give great information. I was a little concerned they might be pricy, given how nice their new location was but they are totally reasonable for the care your pet receives. A great place and I'm very happy as a pet owner to have them nearby.

It has been a very long time since I have owned a pet. One of the things I was most nervous about was finding the perfect vet for our newest addition, Raea. We adopted an 8 week old blue heeler from the Humane Society. After a few days, she developed what appeared to be the onset of a respiratory infection. I reached out to The Heights Veterinary Clinic, they were booked solid, but managed to squeeze us in on the same day. The customer service was the BEST, Dr. Mondschein and his team were not rushed, although we were not a scheduled appointment. They spent time with us explaining every detail of what we needed to do to make our puppy better as well as offered other helpful tips related to dealing with such a young pup. Thank you, we are your forever customers!

Took our baby Calypso for her first vet visit since we adopted her! Everything was a breeze, from making an appointment, check in, and the check-up. The vet-tech and vet were absolutely lovely and made Cal & us feel very cared for! There was even cat nip and a toy for her to be relaxed. Our poor floofy had a mild ear infection, she cleaned her ears and applied a medication. They checked to make sure it wasn’t ear mites. I loved how upfront they were about the costs and never felt pressured to spend more. Since we loved the service we even got an appointment for our chunky tabby! We have a check up coming and we are happy to go. Will be recommending this lovely place to more people. Every one there is an animal lover and a sweetheart!

This place literally may have saved our dogs life today. And they did it with knowledge and care, but also such compassion and kindness. They went above and beyond to take in our sweet boy when he was very very sick. They were compassionate with my tears and helpful in explaining things in an understandable way. The vet himself called when he said he would (even more so) and did everything in an honest way. He took great care of our dog. The tech, Carly, even called before she left the office tonight to check on our pup and she gave him great care while he was with her. It was all just beyond exceptional care, and I’d give more than five stars if I could. If you need a new vet for any reason, this is your spot!

I can't say enough about this vet clinic. My dog is absolutely terrified of the vet... I mean terrified and won't let anyone touch him or get near him. This team has done an amazing job in working with Otis and trying to get him more comfortable when coming to the vet - they are so understanding and aren't just giving up on him as others have done in the past. Carly has been amazing, calling to check on him, very explanative of the process and procedures, working with him to ensure one day he won't be so afraid anymore. He has already made progress and I owe it to Carly and the team! I am so lucky to have found this veterinary clinic and I would recommend them to everyone.

Dr Hayworth and the staff are absolutely amazing with my 2 dogs. I recently made the switch from another "top rated" vet in Tampa due to this office being closer proximity and feeling like I was always spending way too much for routine services at my old vet. I am so happy with my decision! The cost of services and office visits is extremely fair for the level of care provided here. Ive always felt my dogs are cared for and their best health is paramount. The office is very clean and sanitary. Appointments run on schedule yet, ive never felt rushed. I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. I'd recommend to anyone in the area!

Dr. Mondschein and the rest of the clinic staff have been a huge part of our support system the past few months. My boy Dodger has had a few close calls at the ER this year and has been struggling with mobility issues. Dr. Mondschein has been very flexible and open to trying less invasive methods that have helped Dodger maintain a great quality of life ever since. The staff truly care about the pets, always accommodate Dodger’s mobility issues, and even know him by name! I’m never worried when I drop him off for an appointment, and I would highly recommend this place if you are seeking acupuncture for your pup!

I didn’t have a primary vet for our dog, we have just been taking them to humane society clinic every 6 months for medicine and updated vaccines. We had an emergency with our dog this week, and decided to call this office since it’s close to our house. They weren’t able to get us in yesterday, but David, spoke with me on the phone about my dog and it was very helpful. Calming and reassuring. I wasn’t able to physically bring her into this office yesterday, but going forward we will be making this our primary vet. It was really refreshing that experience! Thank you David- you’re too kind!

Oh my gosh this vet is awesome! Dr. Mondschein and his staff are kind and patient, and very knowledgeable. I was hesitant about their COVID policy of taking only the pets in, but the Zoom visit worked perfectly and they clearly treated my cat as kindly as I do. And Dr. Mondschein called promptly as promised with blood work results, made some suggestions, and was not at all pushy. If you’re looking for a vet where they care about your pets like their own, this is the place. Highly recommend!!

We switched vets to The Heights and I wish I had done it sooner. They are very understanding of my two somewhat anxious dogs and are willing to go at my dogs pace. At our old vet, I felt like an inconvenience having dogs that needed extra space and time but at the Heights they seem to understand every dog is different but that doesn't make them less. The techs, doctors, and folks working the desks are always polite and helpful, even when they are super busy. Can't recommend them enough!

Dr. Eric and his staff were incredible from start to finish! Dr. Eric came to the car to meet my husband and follow up after my kitties appointment. He was kind, thorough, and you can tell he loves his job. Dr Eric even called us after hours, on a Friday to give us test results so we weren’t worried over the weekend. Exceptional service and much needed in our neighborhood. Thank you to Dr. Eric and his team for taking such great care of our fur babies!

We brought out new kitten Cheeto for his 1st visit, and EVERYONE there was nice and professional. The office is very clean and welcoming. You can feel they care about animals and that's what we were looking for. It only takes one person to ruin an experience as we've experienced in the past. I also really appreciate getting an estimate before services are done, and not the surprise bill at check out!!! Definitely worth going here for your pets needs

Wow- what a blessing it is that we were able to find this incredible vet. The staff is kind, passionate, and knows their stuff. Also very reasonable pricing. I went to a couple of vets in the Tampa area trying to find the place that would be just right for my dog, Glacier. He is a sensitive/ nervous pup and the whole staff was patient beyond belief with him. I have no doubt at all that he is in the right hands here with Dr. Mondschein & his team.

They are extremely compassionate and professional! I absolutely love this clinic! You can tell that everyone working here has a deep love for animals. My puppy Nebula is a demon dog and still they have so much patience with her. The doctor takes his time with each baby and is really thorough with each exam. I fully recommend this clinic to anyone who wants a vet that actually cares for your baby and not just out for your money.

Ask for Dr. Rhoades. Her bedside manner is the best I have ever encountered! She made me feel comfortable about everything she was doing with my cat. She was very kind and compassionate. The office is clean and quiet. My cat seemed more relaxed than at some other vet offices. I do wish the office offered payment plans, and they are advertised as "holistic," but nothing seemed different than a Western medicine vet.

Dr. Mondschein genuinely cares for our pets. Our labrador has faced a number of complicated medical issues over the years. Dr. Mondschein has always gone out of his way to evaluate, diagnose and treat our lab, often using natural remedies such as acupuncture, herbal supplements and massage for the best outcome with the least potential for negative side effects. We are grateful for his caring touch!

Eric (or Dr. Mondschein) is the best Vet we have ever had in our lives. He is caring, gentle, thorough, and thoughtful. Both of our dogs have adored and trusted him. He was also able to think of alternative and lesser-known treatments. He did the homework on those ideas, and in both cases they worked for our elderly pups. Eric is great, and I would recommend him to everyone for their animals.

We initially brought our two boys(15 year old dachshund mix and a 5 year old English Bulldog) because we felt our other location was both pricey and that everything was rushed due to it's size. We tried Dr. Mondschein and are very happy with the change. He is very personable and we appreciate the time he has taken with both of our guys and the results we have had. I would highly recommend!

Had an urgent scare with our doggie who would not eat. We called and although they were booked for the next couple of days, they agreed to squeeze him in. Very courteous staff. Met the vet and he was very personable. Took time to explain why and what was being done and gave pricing estimates. Even grinded our doggie's nails as a courtesy. Our new clinic moving forward.

This vet is honestly amazing. They’re so caring, professional and thorough. Karlie, and doctor mondschein explained everything and really took the time to go over all the concerns and questions. The doctor actually comes out to greet you and that’s says and means a lot to us. Facility is very clean. I highly recommend this place they really care about the pets!

We love this place and we were extremely pleased with the service, safety considerations, care and the cost. It's tough finding a place you can trust to take care of your fur babies, that's why we wanted to give them a review. We would give more stars if we could. Take note, you will have to wait in your car while your pet is inside for thier appointment.

The Dr and staff are wonderful. They're very professional, yet compassionate and caring. I took my little princess here (Siamese cat) for a check up and subsequent teeth cleaning. Not only did they do a great job, but their fees were very reasonable. They also didn't push for work that didn't need to be done.

Clean, friendly, professional, knowledgable, personal, non-judgmental and reasonably priced. I'm new in town and think this will be my permanent vet. My German Shepherd has made great progress! And we may not be out of the woods, but I believe that here, with Dr.Haworth, he's in the best hands!

This is a great clinic. We recently moved to the area and were looking for a Vet to establish our dogs at. Dr Mondschein was great and really took the time to talk to me about our dogs. The staff was equally great and made the process very seamless. I am so glad we brought out dogs here!

We had another vet office we loved for more than 20 years before they sold to Banfield after the principle vets retired. Dr. Mondschein and his staff have been amazing at every turn. I have nothing but great things to say about these folks.

Absolutely amazing experience. I have never had a vet tell it to me straight and not try to make a buck off of me and my dog. This is overall and great location and super friendly staff. Plenty of parking if you need to drive, too.

This clinic is partially holistic and Dr Mondschein takes his time with the customer and is very knowledgeable. The girls are fantastic and very friendly. They seem to care very much for the pets that come in. Highly recommend.

They were SO NICE! They rubbed my dogs belly and made him feel comfortable while they took a blood sample. They gave us great prescriptions and advice. These guys are the real deal and so nice. Highly recommend them!!

Dr Monschein and Kelly (vet tech) were terrific. They took the time to answers questions and thoroughly evaluate my fur babies. They provided alternatives to treatments.. I would highly recommend them.

They have a nice office but pets must be dropped off for x-rays and I made a follow up call after my visit but no one has returned the call from about 2 weeks ago.
