As a P&O crew member, Have been travelling many times coming to Hobart Visiting places around the city, across cruise terminal, passing by The story Bar I did have a few drinks wants with my fellow crew member inside the bar b4 going back on board Pacific Jewel on 2018 I recommended the services, very good handling staff. This would have to be my favourite bar in Hobart. It's a great spot by the water with great views. But what made it was the staff. Matteo and Rachel were extremely kind. They chatted with us and gave us testers of different wines and made us feel extremely welcomed. I have not found service in a hotel/bar combo quite like that of The Story Bar and Macq1. Matteo brought us up a free bottle of wine for my birthday just because we were talking about what types we like! Service like that is unheard of in Australia! Very impressed. Will be back when in Hobart.

Beautiful building, decor and view and great service. My main issue is the food cost and serving size. We ordered 2 servings of scallops and were assured they were appropriate to share but we got 3 scallops per serve at $10 and they were about the size of a 5 cent piece making everyone embarrassed to actually take one and us embarrassed to pass them around! Same with the BBQ zucchini...$6 for the tiniest serving. Drinks were pricey too. Not sure i would go back as there are plenty of nice places with a view in Hobart.

You can also come here for lunch — it’s probably quieter and you can enjoy the views. The cider-battered fish was ultra crispy and excellent The chips were good but probably fell short of the excellence of the fish. The house-smoked salmon had lovely texture and flavour to it. And the house salad was the perfect counterpoint. The service was also friendly and prompt — a great way to have lunch in Hobart

My wife and I enjoyed an evening meal in the relaxing environment of the Story Bar lounge. The flames of the gas fire, the view of the harbour and the dimmed lighting were very conducive to unwinding from the busy work day. The food: My wife enjoyed her beef Burger meal. I enjoyed the fish and chips. The fish and chips were cooked well but the batter was a little greasy. I should have ordered the salad with it. Overall a pleasant experience.

Probably more of a 3.5 star - the cocktails were nice but they did take quite a while. We went on a very quite night (only two other people there) & we did mention to the bar tender that we had a dinner reservation. I would say we waited about 10 or so minutes for our two cocktails to come out & they definitely weren't anything extravagant. They were nice though, so that makes it hard to give a low rating.

Excellent location for a 'quiet one' with your mistress! Somehow the Cascade Lager is as good as it was at the brewery. Great views- great atmosphere. Decor is one of the best I have seen. Very original. Staff excellent. A bit pricey but I do not mind that when a nice bar makes me feel good. I will return one day but must get back to QE2. Only joking about mistress - but all the rest is genuine. Happy drinking! Andy

The pink tub chairs were comfortable and the whole atmosphere was pretty good... Until the Christmas song played. It's bad enough having to listen to Christmas songs at Christmas time.

The convict’s old fashioned at the story bar is the best old fashioned I’ve had in my life and would easily make my top 5 of all cocktails. The venue itself is just okay ambience and decor wise but the staff were amazing, snack options were good and prices were very reasonable. Would happily go back to the story bar for drinks anytime.

When you work hard for your money and go out somewhere you do have a expectation of the service you want to receive. I really enjoyed our family night out here and the staff were very friendly and best off all ... human. Thanks for the awesome experience - we will be back every time we visit Hobart for a few drinks : )

Had my partner's 40th birthday party at The Story Bar and the team there went above and beyond! From the pre-event organising to the service and food on the night, everything was done perfectly. So many, of the 40 attendees, complimented the event and the lovely venue setting. Thank you to all the team!

The location is so good they could have easily turned out a sub-standard bar experience but they did not. The decor is classy and consistent and subtly tells the story of Hobart and the staff are well dressed, helpful and professional. It's a must-go bar for anyone visiting the city.

Marvellous location, great view of the water, classy decor and very good small plates. BUT poor service - olives and anchovies delivered with nothing to spear them with and no serviette! Such a pity - as often mentioned, staff in some Tas restaurants and bars need to lift their game.

Moved to Story Bar after dinner. Great bar tenders helped me choose a Tasmanian gin I hadn't had before and the amazing voice and sounds of Erica Bloom. Highly recommend!

It's great to see the new breed of venue in Hobart with a heightened level of sophistication you might expect on the mainland. Excellent spot to enjoy a pre-dinner drink and soak in the the best views Hobart has to offer.

Cocktails to die for. Little more need be said, but on the chance it does - an amazing location, well appointed seating, and plenty of warmth to be had make for a brilliant locale for libations on any occasion.

It's always a pleasure going to the Story bar. Warm atmosphere warm and welcoming staff and superb selection of drinks. The cocktails are amazing and the bar staff are great at making up anything you desire

Good atmosphere, good service, great view, nice seating and GREAT DRINKS. Lovely cocktail menu with ample choice and a little history on each drink to keep you interested! Would recommend.

Rachel was the highlight of our stay ! Everyone there’s super friendly & gave us so many recommendations on what to do here. Cocktails were tasty & location is stunning. Will be back

4 stars for location and decor but 1 star for my premix ‘Margarita’ with table salt around the rim. $22 for a sub standard drink is not what I’d expect from a hotel like this.

Fantastic service and atmosphere, the lounge area out the very back past the dining area is so chill and stylish for a unwind or business drink.

We go regularly and love it. The atmosphere is great, the staff look after you, food is good - highly recommend the sleeping beauty cocktail.

Bartenders Josh and Jordon took care of us, making it a really memorable experience. Absolute top notch service, they are fantastic!
