They steal!! Watch out!! I don’t know why my review was deleted but I have a receipt and have been a customer here on more than one occasion. I had an emerald necklace stolen from the pocket of a trenchcoat that I had dry cleaned here! I realized I had left it in the pocket of my coat right away. I didn’t want to call them, because I wanted to confront them in person so I could tell if they were lying or not. I waited until the coat was done being dry cleaned. I arrived at the shop, picked up and paid for it, and confronted the younger Asian cashier. He looked away and his neck and face blushed red with embarrassment. He was definitely lying! He never offered to even look for my emerald silver necklace!! He said, “oh if we find stuff it would be pinned and taped to the coat.” He quickly pretended to look at a couple pockets for a safety-pinned lost item. Later when I got home and examined the coat, I saw a second safety-pinned item to the coat. Usually they just safety-pin a number to identify the piece of clothing. What a liar! Whoever did the cleaning, found the emerald stone and attached it to the coat. This low-life thieving liar took it. Who steals from their customers??? That was a piece of jewelry that was sentimental from my ex-fiancé who is no longer with us. That employee stole more than a necklace from me—he stole sentimental stuff that is priceless!!
Hello, this is Michelle Northington. I’ve been working for Tie and Kum at Tie’s Dry Cleaners off and on since I was 18. I just recently moved back to Portland and am now working with Tie and Kum again. Their Wonderful people to work with. I honestly can say they do care. They don’t do one hour martenizing anymore, and in the summer time is the slow season because school is out for summer break. A lot of families take summer vacations. A lot of people are often out of town and that makes the summer time not as busy as September. Like today, I was completely done pressing clothes at 1:30pm. As to September when summer break is over and families come back home to return to work, students return to school, then I press clothes until 3 or 4pm, Monday-Saturday. And this is why we are not able to do same day service unless you drop off your clothes by 9:30am. Yessss, that’s right folks, Michelle and Lori are back working with Tie and Kum. I’m not managing anymore, but I am pressing dry Clean. So, if you need same day service, please try to get your clothes there as early as possible. Because when they turn off the boiler, there are no clothes being cleaned or pressed. Good Luck Ya All...... !!!!! Lori and I are SOOOOO HAPPY TO BE BACK!!!! Stop by and say “HELLO”!!!!
I have been a long-time loyal customer here for over 12 years. Recently I took a pair of dress pants and a scarf in to be cleaned. When I got my items back, the scarf was ruined and the button was missing from the pants. I took the pants back with a replacement button and asked for them to do the repair. When I went to pick them up today the woman wanted to charge me AND charge me a credit card fee because I was using a debit card for a purchase of $5.00. I told her that I did not think this was fair and I said it would be nice to hear the simple words; "I am sorry" for their error in the first place. She looked at me like I was crazy to be asking for an apology and she got very snippy with me. She said she would not charge me the credit card fee THIS time but NEXT time she would. Sorry ... there won't BE a NEXT time. I told her that and that they will not have my business anymore. She did not seem to care!!! That was the final straw for me. I will not give them my business any longer and I will discourage my friends and family from using them too. There are other dry cleaning options available. Customer service is not difficult. Customers want to feel like they are valued and respected. Neither of those things happened today and it will be their loss.
I returned some dress slacks that I had hemmed after noticing that both legs were completely coming un-done. I was honest and said that I had them hemmed less than six months ago, and that I do not wear them very often. I guess I could have lied and said I just paid $22 dollars a month ago, but I told the truth. The clerk who I suspect was the owner gave me a look of disdain and said, “We don’t re-do something from six months ago” Shouldn’t a hem last for more than six months, why not keep your customer happy and just re-do them. I truly felt discriminated against, because I suspect if I were a man he would have fixed the hem with no questions asked, instead of shamming me for telling the truth.
They do good work! I brought them a waxed canvas hat that got all sweaty and stinky from wearing it in the heat, and I fully expected that I would have to re-wax the hat when I got it back. I was wrong! The hat is perfect. I don't know what sort of magic they did, but I stuck the hat under the sink to test it out and it's still totally waterproof, and is so clean it looks brand new again. I also had them hem some pants and the job was done so well you can't tell it was altered. Overall very pleased with their work. Waxed canvas isn't easy to clean, but they did an outstanding job.
Don’t iron your shirts again! Go to Tie’s! I actually enjoy ironing, I’ll put some music on, grab a spray bottle and get to it. Trouble is, it takes time. Since I wear a button down shirt to work everyday it makes more sense to have Tie’s launder and iron them for me for a buck each (cash, if you use a card he’ll pass that fee onto you). Quality was great, they wrote my name inside the collar of each shirt and applied medium starch. No shiny spots from applying too much heat on a ‘stretch’ cotton shirt. The shirts come back on wire hangers with plastic covering them.
These are among the best cleaners that I've ever worked with. The quality of their work is top of the line. I've brought winter jackets there with nasty stains and they had cleaned it more than once to ensure to was taken care of. If anything didn't come out, they'd discuss their efforts and make suggestions on what I can do at the time of the stain to get it out. Super friendly and professional folks who will remember you if you're a regular customer. As for Amber's comments, I felt that very unfair. I've always had goods returned if they were found in pockets.
I've been going here for my alterations and dry cleaning for a few years now, and this time I went in to get a dress tailored for an event I'm going to. The staff is exceptional, friendly, and helpful, and both the tailor and her daughter are great, I regret that I do not know their names! I let them know when I would be leaving for my event, and they got the dress done 3 days earlier than their usual turnaround time of 1 week. When I tried it on at home, it was perfect! I'm very excited to go to my event and not trip on my dress. Highly recommend!
I Strongly Recommend Tie’s Dry Cleaners because I’m a Professional Rodeo Cowboy and I travel A Lot!!! Not Only are they Family owned and operated, They are Also one of the most Respectful and Customer Service Oriented businesses, I’ve ever Met. There have been times where I couldn’t make it back to pick up my clothing for a couple months and all it takes is respectful communication and I’ve Never had to worry. My items are Always there for me as soon as I make it back home. I Love This Family
I've been using this cleaning service for at least 8 years if not longer and they've always done a great job for me. I think the cost is worthwhile they used to charge a dollar per shirt now it's $1.50 per shirt and I think that's still very good deal. I like to have my shirts starts to depressed and looking good and they've always provided that for me.
Cheap shirts but they charge you an extra 1.25 a shirt if they aren’t unbottoned. Inconsistent service. Shirt quality is okay, dry cleaning is sub par, bad creases in suits. These folks are rude and unprofessional. The owner who works there actually yelled at me once. The behavior was borderline unstable / mental. My advice, stay away....
They work fast, quality is excellent, and you can’t beat the price. I will drive across town past many others to go there. I needed the lining of a coat repaired and elbow patched added, and the result was excellent. On very rare occasions they are too busy for next day, but they always meet their promised time. A Portland treasure.
It was awesome as usual. Been doing business with them for 15 years now. They got the best starch for Jean's and shirts . An the pricing is off the hook. I would never go anywhere else they are good people and did I mention they also do awesome alterations. Yep the best cleaners in portland !!! …
Boyfriend brings his shirts here to be dry cleaned.. For $1.00 per shirt it's a heck of a deal. Never a problem with starch levels.. Easy access from Sandy Blvd.. Very friendly.. A Few procedures and requirements have changed due to Covid... But still great service for a fantastic price.
Wrote ticke for cleaning 25.09. When I got there said someone added wrong. My ticket didn’t have a breakdown for the two coats so wasn’t even given something to check there math. Charged me more to get out. Couldn’t have argue but poor service lady just walk us and I said really.
The staff here are polite and accurate. The prices are good and generally things are done well. Mending and alterations are particularly good. However I have had a couple shirts come back with mystery stains that didn't come out, and I will never ever take them another rug!!
I always get my shirts done at ties. Great service, quick turnaround and the price can be beat! They’re on site. Seamstress does alterations very well and also has helped me out in a number of situations, making clothes work that I would have otherwise given up on.
Last minute drop off for hem and press. I was looking at hours until the event. Not a problem for these folks! I was actually surprised at how quickly they had my new suit turned around. I'll be back for sure.
My pristine white David Donahue button down formal shirt was covered in red wine stains from a night out on St. Patrick's day, but Tie's returned it perfectly clean for $5. I will definitely return here.
I have 6 drape panels that I need cut down and hemmed and two of the cut offs hemmed and a rod pocket made on top. The lady quoted me $200!!!! This is a very simple job that would take less than an hour.
Brought in a dress to be dry cleaned had a very small spot from a gummy bear and not only did they make the stain worse some how they ruined the dress. They still charged me! I'm crying
Shirts arms are very creased and not wearable without ironing and dress did not have stain removed. It’s cheap and you get what you pay for. Will never go back and cannot recommend.
They quoted me one price on the phone, then another when I dropped off my item, and then charged me yet another price when I picked it up each time the price kept going up.
Inconsistent with drop off times for same day cleaning. I was on time for the drop off but was still refused same day service. Otherwise good product at a great price.
I can’t comment on the quality of the service, but “same day” consisted of me arriving before 9 and being told we can’t do that today. If you advertise it, do it!
My favorite wool shirt was falling apart at the collar. They were able to flip it over and put it back together, for just $15. So happy they could fix it!
I drive across town for this community dry cleaner. Be very kind to them. They do a good job. Be patient, for the good results will be delivered to you.
Great shop. Does excellent work on area rugs of all sizes especially high-end wool and wool-blend carpets. Very swift service. Trustworthy.
I've been going to this dry cleaner for 5 years now. They have always done a great job and normally get it done in a day or less.
Very helpful staff. Washed and cleaned and pressed my clothing without any problem. Not very expensive for what you get.
Best place in Portland to get my dress shirts cleaned and pressed for those times I have in person business meetings.
You can't beat the prices & we quality. Men's starched business shirts ,$1 a shirt. 5 shirt mini mum for this price.
Consistent and inexpensive. Would like to have more sustainable cleaners in the hood, but works for me.
They are a nicely run dry cleaner. They have also done some alterations for me. I would recommend them
Excellent dry cleaning & laundry service! Environmentally friendly practices! Great customer service!!
Go elsewhere for tailoring - they wanted to charge me $40 to hem the sleeves on my sweater (insane).
Cheap, consistent, and they call me in the rare instance it'll take more than same day turnaround.
They got my down comforter cleaned in record time, and for $8 less than other places I called.
Fantastic drycleaner. They absolutely know what they're doing. Very pleased to recommend them.
The staff is super rude and refuse to do same day service no matter how early you show up.
I rely on their professional care for my business clothes. Good people and fair prices!
I use Tie's for men's shirts and always appreciate the quick affordable service.
Great service, and you simply cannot beat their pricing of $1 for shirts!
I’ve been going for about 10 years and have never have a poor experience.
Love the staff. They do a great job on my shirts. Quick turnaround too.
Ya can't beat $1 per shirt from what I've seen for this location.
They pressed my pants with the seam on the side! Who does that?
Good folks, good services, good prices... what's not to love?
Amazing job, the hangers are even nice! ☺️ …
Way too expensive, I can't go broke for doing my laundry...
Service is unremarkable, but it could be more friendly.
Can’t beat the price and the service excellent as well.
Lovely people. And excellent attention to detail.
Quality dry cleaners! Great price. Will be back!
