This Veterinarian should specify they only deal with cats and dogs. They will not assist you otherwise even in emergency for any other type of animal or pet. On emergency I rushed my ferret to this VET as it was the closest and no veterinarian service including this one would allow me to come in appointment. My little ones symptoms worsened throughout the night. I called the vet only for them to tell me that they wouldn’t take her in but if it was an actual emergency to Bring her in and see what they could do. On arrival I begged for assistance As her Condition had clearly worse and to the point where I was sure she wasn’t going to make it but I was willing to pay and do whatever it took to try and save her. On arrival with tears in my eyes I could see that they were not happy I had brought her in. They unwillingly took her inside to check how stable she was only for her to be brought out five minutes later handed back to me and said you need to go somewhere else. I had no car in my pyjamas and in an absolute mess was told to get an Uber As their emergency fees are way too expensive for me to afford. They never told me How much emergency would cost only that I couldn’t afford it. At the end of the day I had made it to a vet in Waterloo in arrival rushed her in a crash cart and put her on oxygen right away. I ended up paying $1500 only for her pass but just goes to show I was will to pay anything To save my baby girl. It’s just so unfortunate that The emergency veterinarians wouldn’t even try to help. I highly advise this veterinarian to look into its current practices and make the public aware of their actual abilities in terms of emergency care. Please don’t get me wrong I believe this is amazing and practical ways to train students but in terms of actual care provided I’m very disappointed. I’m sure there are some very caring people that work there but in my case everything very cold disconnected And felt a lack of empathy for my baby girl and myself. I do hope this review is looked into and hopefully changes current protocol in these types of situations.

Absolutely an irresponsible, unprofessional and money-driven place with a bunch of people with absolutely no idea of what they are doing. My cat fell from the balcony and was identified with multiple injuries at heir jaw, lungs and legs. Usyd vet advised us to use feeding tube on her for 3months to avoid jaw movements. However, on the first day of using the tube, my cat was able to lick liquid food quite well with her mouth and she did not adapt very well with the tube and kept kicking it loose. We brought her back to Usyd, suddenly, they told us we can remove the tube now if that’s the case and start feeding her from mouth. FYI, implementing a feeding tube involves shaving, opening up her neck and a whole series of surgeries. They were too bothered to do a thorough evaluation before putting a tube in her, but simply just did that for whatever reasons? Charge more money? Practicing for their students? Also throughout our experience with Usyd vet, it took them ages to provide the examination results to the other vet we sought for a second opinion and every time we call them for an update, they just kept kicking the ball around. After my cat got discharged, the advice we were getting was simply LET HER HEAL HERSELF. However, she was obviously experiencing pain in her left front leg and it looks disjointed or broken. in all the reports we got from the Usyd vet, they mentioned not a singe word of this problem, it was only until we took her to Greencross for reevaluation then we knew she very likely needs surgery for her leg. To summarize, we spent $15000 at Usyd vet, they put an absolutely unnecessary tube in her, put her through all the surgery, anesthesia and trauma for nothing. Seems like they went though all the examinations as much as they could, but they can’t simply let us know her leg problem that even I can tell myself. I highly recommend this place to people who like to spend money, time and effort on nothing and don’t want to save their little friends. PLEASE GO USYD VET.

I have 3 dogs & early 2020, my dog Sam developed a bad cough that mainly happened at nite. I took him to my vet in Neutral Bay and they said it was a collapsed Tracheal and there was nothing they could do. Over the coming months it kept getting worse, he was getting very cranky with me/other dogs and he would not let me pick him up. I kept going back to my vet but they said this was old age problem. They did some expensive blood-work which said he was in top shape. Over the years I had spent a fortune at this vet and I trusted their advice. Anyway it was getting worse, sam was clearly dying (he is also 13) and I could not get any sleep so in frustration I decided to take him to a new vet. When I asked for his papers to be transferred, my money focused vets in Neutral Bay finally recommend an X-ray where it was discovered he had a large primary lung cancer and I was deeply shocked! My vet gave me 4 hospital options for major surgery and suggested it would cost upwards of $15k. I choose Sydney university vet because I thought they might be cutting edge, up with latest trends, etc and I was right! They were first class! Sam was fast dying and just before surgery I was thinking, given his age and the potential cost of surgery was it worthwhile given that he might only have 6 months more to live. A good friend suggested that since said Sam had given me so much joy, it was worth it. We did the surgery & now sam looks like a million dollars, he is healthy, happy and I think he will live to 20. Sydney uni vet saved his life & now I have dumped my old vet & Sydney uni is my new vet. The whole cost - CT scan & surgery was only about $9000 well short of what they had initially indicated & that was great as well. Thank you Sydney University vet for giving Sam back many more years to come. Your staff & facilities are world class, I can see why you are the best vet hospital in Australia!

We brought our cat here last night at 11pm because he seemed to be struggling to urinate. We were hesitant to go because of all the negative reviews. The staff were very friendly and handled our cat with care. The reason we can't give a fully positive review is because of the cost and treatment we received. We were told he most likely was blocked and would need to be kept overnight to "unblock" him. We couldn't afford this and instead opted to take him to our normal vet the next morning, going home with medication to relax him and pain killers. When we took him to SAH Animal Hospital (highly recommended) the next morning, Ange instantly was able to confirm he wasn't blocked, and knew what medication to give him to help what was actually an inflamed bladder. While we are most appreciative of the time spent during our consultation, we were surprised that the suggestion to monitor him overnight that would have cost us up to $1500, and would have done nothing that our normal vet was able to tell us at nil cost the next morning. We also appreciate the importance of learning on hand, as students here do. What is slightly concerning is the opposite opinions we received throughout the consultation. We were told he was not dehydrated at all, then told he was very dehydrated. We were told his bladder was huge, then told it wasn't. It was difficult to keep confidence in the advice we were given when it kept changing. I'd suggest going here only if you have no other option. We did so as we thought it was an emergency, and while the staff definitely erred on the side of caution, they charged us $350 for the consult and 5 days of meds we can't even use because they weren't going to help the problem. That being said, the staff were all genuinely really lovely and friendly. It was just a disappointing experience overall, to receive such expensive band aid treatment.

Not very happy with the service at Sydney University Vets. My 3 year old dog was diagnosed with an Immune disease the first bill ending out near $9k which I accept and understand. (Delt with Dr Maddie who was great to be fair with superior knowledge.) 6 months later she has returned. (bill $5200) No discounts whatsoever given for a returned patient. Not to mention the service I receive from their end has been terrible. Contact from the vet has been very poor. Seeming unsure of themselves (anxious at times) at times which is hard to guage and just wanting to keep your pet in there for longer not to mention half the time dealing with Vet students or a receptionist. I was given a time slot to come and visit- I waited over an hour for them to bring my dog out to me. Today I did not receive any call at all from the clinic regarding how my pet was going at all. I called myself to check. "A Vet will be in contact within an hour" No call 3 hours later. I called 3 times today only to hear from the receptionist on how my dog is progressing and not by an actual vet. Very Poor form. Charging exclusive prices for your pets and delivering anything but exclusive service in my eyes. I would recommend SVES over them as also recommended by a friend who is an animal doctor. I expected far better care and service the way they charge however seems to be always lagging there with a short number of staff but still happy to take in more pets regardless. I'm aware they are busy and doing their absolute best however It seems to be more of a money maker their rather than an honest emergency veterinary service with poor follow up. Will not be returning.

I have been a costumer of Sydney uni vet for my dog for several years. He has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer and the advice given by the practitioner about physical activity was totally wrong. Based on the advice my dog was injured and we ended up here in the middle of the night. Another vet told us the advice given prior was incorrect because the cancer can make a dog’s bone very sensitive to breaks. I asked him why the other vet told us the opposite, especially when we asked him specifically, and he told us that if it was his dog he wouldn't have taken him to the park. I was there for clear medical advice, not personal musings. I told him I would like to make a complaint about the other vet as that advice was the reason I was there. We were told we would receive a call with the necessary details- no call was received. I called them again and was provided an email address to send a complaint, which I did- no response was received. I then called them again and asked why I wrote an email if nobody would bother to acknowledge it? Again, they said they would call me, and again, no call was received… I will not take my dog back to this vet and would not recommend them to any other pet owner. I really thought my dog was dying that night due to the advice provided. As I have received no acknowledgment of our experience I can’t help but feel this was only a financial exchange to them. I suggest you go somewhere else for your loved one, it will be better for your pet and your mental health.

Dr Sophia is amazing. Sadly, I had very traumatic not to mention truly distressing experience w Sydney Emergency Vet in Rozelle, NSW - which almost resulted in my cat losing his life. Based on dishonest information provided to me by the Emergency Vet & Clinic Director there - should I fail to agree to the minimal treatment options he offered to me w a starting price of $2,000 - $3,000 based on him “touching my cat by hand” (aka he refused to carry out and blood/ urine tests to substantiate these costly and limited options he offered me - other than offering me Euthanasia to end my cats life). So when I finally went to see Sophia after these traumatic events w my unwell cat she was truly incredible. She was compassionate, patient, honest + genuinely cared about my cat’s wellbeing. Which is in stark contrast to my former experience in Rozelle where it was all about intentionally and recklessly causing personal detriment to their customers whether it be misleading their customers in order to achieve a personal financial gain. Or, advising me that ending my Cats life then and there was my only other option - because in their words “my cat would die anyway in 24 hours if I did not agree to paying $2,000-$3,000 for their recommended treatment” on a public holiday when my local trusted Vet was closed. I hope this review is helpful for you and your beloved Pets. And thank you again Dr Sophia for being a professional of high morale and integrity. I appreciate your help

DO NOT GO HERE- WAY OVER PRICED!!! We went in there after my dog ate a raisin thinking we might walk out the door with $100-$200 or so as the bill considering students are involved in the process. This was why we chose them, being a student myself I understand the value in it. Although when we received a bill of $370 i was beyond shocked. A $270 consultation fee is beyond ridiculous, whether this be an emergency facility or not. Other vets don't charge a premium and for emergency consults and neither should you! They were under staffed and were extremely rude. They said they would put through our insurance claim although we have been waiting 4 days and no claim put through. I offered to do it myself to save time and they refuse to hand over consultation notes because they were completed by a student and need to be checked by the vet. What the heck am I paying $370 for if basic stuff like checking notes isn't even done by professional. I'm all for providing a teaching environment as this is super valuable for students to learn but this fact needs to be reflected in the pricing or be disclosed prior to the consult.

My cat Tommy passed away a few nights ago. We took him here to have him cremated however we changed our mind and instead collected him and buried him in our yard. The staff here are very friendly, professional and understanding. I confided in one of the staff members here today and she told me about her cat Quinn. She made me feel a lot better about everything I was feeling and shared her story about her experiences. The staff here make your experiences feel valued and they really do care about animals. Although I am hurting, I feel a bit better now knowing that other people have also experience similar things and sharing the insights with them helped me to process my feelings a little better. Thank you for all the help you have given to my family and I. We feel sad but we feel good knowing that the staff at the Syd uni vet genuinely care and understand animal matters. Thank you also for being generous with your insight and helping us to identify the breed of cat that Tommy is. We loved him a lot and losing an animal is by far the hardest thing I have been through.

Just wanted to give a massive shout out to the vets at University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney Two weeks ago our burmese cat (pictured below in his 2020 xmas outfit) stopped eating and was running a fever. We rushed him to UVTHS and they quickly diagnosed a perforation near his large intestines and operated that night. He stayed in ICU for 9 nights (it was a big operation and he needed scans/test to ensure a smooth recovery). The level of care the surgeon, vets and ICU staff provided was amazing, and he managed to pull through. The vets were fantastic - we received text messages every morning with an update on how he did overnight and a follow up call in the afternoon from the vet on next steps and any issues. Plus we were able to visit him every day. It was an incredibly stressful period but the professionalism of the vets and the frequent updates we received were such a comfort and helped reassure us that he was constantly being supervised and in good hands. Our burmese is now at home recovering well. Highly recommend USYD vet hospital.

My cat had a blocked urethra, which can be a life threatening condition. When we took him to the SUVH a sequence of events took place whereby he was discharged before he had peed. We were willing to get a NILS loan (for pensioners) so that he could receive the best care. The University Vet Hospital seemed unfamiliar with this, we explained that it would take three days and the money would be sent straight to them. Meanwhile, they discharged him, saying they would contact us to check on him. They then sent a referral letter to the wrong vet which they ccd to us and did not give us a discharge letter with important information regarding his ongoing treatment. Neither were we contacted by them. They assured us that they have given him the best treatment available and I now believe this, but I do believe that they are cutting corners, possibly due to being short staffed. I can only hope that when SASH finally sets up in Alexandria sometime this year that we will have more choice to access specialist Vet Care, and pressure may be alleviated on the SUVH

One no doubt faithfully takes their pets to this practice assuming they offer the best possible care. A profitable customer indeed. Upon paying for a repeat medication for my dog (after some costly procedures) I found that the same medication can be bought elsewhere for $35, instead of $140. They wouldn't offer a better price, so I asked for a refund with the intent instead to get a script I could use to buy elsewhere. Was then informed it would cost $37 for a single repeat! To check whether this was common practice, I called two other local vets to see what they would charge for a script. One didn't charge at all, the other $8. I raised the issue with them by email. Basically they offered no reasonable justification in return. So if a leading academically affiliated practice such as this is wilfully pushing the envelope on their pricing, what message is that sending to an industry that basically has no pricing regulations? At the very least, definitely seek alternative quotes if your heart happens to miss a beat.

Last Saturday My 8 month old puppy was hit by a car I had no idea what to do so I took him to my local vet and they advised me it was broken, so I took my baby to Sydney uni vet were they said it was only 1 fractured bone in he’s leg along with a fractured pelvis so I paid 1000 dollars to keep him in from Saturday to Monday and for he’s meds as As my partner and I are only 16 yrs old and don’t work I tried to set up vet pay and they gave us 2-3 days to pay 6000- 9000 even though they agreed to help setup a payment plan they didn’t, so when 3 days past they called me and told me to come in and pick up my dog because they were unable to do the surgery anymore, so I discharged him on took him to RSPCA Yagoona where they took him in straight away and were able to tell us that there is actually 4-5 fractures not just one, we tried our hardest but sadly due to poor help my baby has to have a leg amputated. I just can’t help to think if I never took him to this horrible place this wouldn’t have happened

They need more vets on shifts. We didn't have a great experience. The covid set up is understandable and inconvenient but they are also rigidly inflexible and lacking compassion. We were told to wait in a four hour queue outside. (Only 3 or 4 people in front of us). Even though we lived a 5 min walk away, they said we couldn't leave and come back or we'd lose our place in the queue. Our cat was in a small carrier and would've been in even more distress if she was in there for 4 hours so we asked if they could take her inside and put her in a larger cage while we waited. They flatly refused. I hate it when someone gives you the glib response.. 'oh that's just the policy..... my god ..the rules...the rules... show a bit of human decency and compassion.' It wouldn't have been that difficult to let us go home and give us a call 10 mins before our slot became available and it shouldn't have been that difficult to find a spot for her inside. Disappointing... We decided to go elsewhere. Won't be going back.

My partner took my puppy there to be seen by one of the vets after paying 325 just to get the they told my parter it was going to cost between 6,000 an 11,000 dollars but they could put him down free of charge after hearing my puppy could still stant an he could walk I told my partner that we would get a second appointment at a vet were my family has been going for many years as we were waiting for our appointment at the other vet this vet sent the aspca around to my partner's place now our puppy is happy an home with none of the injuries that they said he had our puppy was nearly put down for nothing im very sad to say this vets will take u for a ride the trouble is most pet owners will pay without a second opinion because it a family member to them just like this puppy is to my girls but I didn't have the money that night so I got a second opinion an it turns out I was right just be careful of this vet my bill went from that to undet a 1, 000 im very disappointed in this place

Have attended this facility twice for emergencies. The first experience wasn’t great but thought it was a one-off. 2nd experience was terrible which means I will never return. 1. The facility will hit you up for $$$$ at every interaction. I was picking my dog up after 2 days in the hospital - before even seeing my dog or understanding tests done or medication the reception say ‘that is $xxxx, how do you want to pay?’ not even providing an itemised invoice or having spoken to the vet. 2nd visit was the same procedure where the first word is payment. 2. Bedside manner of the admitting vet nurse was appalling. She showed no care or interest for my dog who had just been attacked. She was exceptionally rude to me and passive aggressive. I have written to the administration about this who said they would contact me to discuss. Please don’t reply with generic response asking me to contact you. You have my contact details, you said you would be in touch over 2 wks ago and you haven’t.

Do not bring your pet here!! Super unprofessional and difficult to reach out My cat fell from balcony and suffered bone fracture around her jaw and arms. The vet recommended using a feeding tube for 12wks which was extremely painful for her because she pulled the tube out twice and we needed to take her to emergency at 2am, whereas my cat has always been able to take liquidated food since day one. After the second time she pulled the tube out, the vet said that she could just eat by herself because it seems that she’s quite uncomfortable with it, so obviously the whole tube thing is completely unnecessary. Also, the whole treatment cost me $15000 for nothing and the final conclusion is to let her recover by herself. After about one month, I realized my cat is still feeling uncomfortable around her left arm so I took her to her regular vet and they said her arm injuries are quite serious, which USYD has never mentioned to me.

My mother's cat got attacked by a dog the other day and she intially took him to the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney, where they made her wait over half an hour only to inform her that the estimated total cost of treating his wounded paw would be an extortionate $5000, and at least $1500 just for calling in a veterinary surgeon since it was after 17:00. We were able to find another vet that took care of everything for just over $300. So it seems to me that the claim on their website that "charges at the UVTHS are comparable to those of private veterinary practices and are kept to the minimum level possible that is consistent with the highest quality of care for the animals being treated" is just a blatant lie. I find it difficult to express the depth of my outrage so this review will have to suffice. My recommendation to anyone who has the option would be to take your business elsewhere.

Well I have read these reviews and nothing could be further from the true in our case. Yes they are expensive and $250 after hours is high, however when you need someone at 3am for your pet it is good value. We had our dog Poppy diagnosed with cancer at 3am and the Vet at the time was so compassionate and caring. He made an appointment for the same day to see the oncology specialist and the compassion and care was great. This as you know was such a emotional time for us and Poppy and the understanding from these professionals was outstanding. The organisation has set protocols for the treatment of cancer, however due to the stress for both Poppy and I they modified them to help us cope. Poppy received 14 months chemo therapy and the service was exceptional and the help in the final time was amazing. I have no hesitation in recommending the vets, nurses and reception staff.

Worst vet ever do not bring your vet here. They charged me thousands of dollars and didn’t feed my dog or give it water for 3 days because they kept the muzzle on the dog while she was highly sedated and couldn’t move. They didn’t return my dogs brand new choker and leash and muzzle and they put a second hand harness on my dog and didn’t tell me they were charging me for it and it was on the bill. They sent my dog home straight after the operation and I called them to tell them my dog is crying in pain they told me do not bring my dog back and to call another vet. I called pawwsum mobile vet who came and were so professional and helpful. Sydney uni vet told me they would call me and do a FaceTime call to see how my dog is doing and they never called me back. The pawwsum vet called me back to check on my dog everyday for 2 weeks. Never go to Sydney uni vet

Go Anywhere Else you possibly can. My cat fell from a balcony and was hurt bad. I couldn't make it to my Normal vet who was an hour away in Guildford West. Im a disabled pensioner without insurance. And thought that a Teaching hospital would be an affordable alternative. As they're government funded, charge thousands to students to learn there. And was given a 8000 dollar quote to save her. So eat and let her pass, potentially. Or save her and not eat for 6 months. I left after an hour and a half with a 500 dollar bill for their services. My vet found out. Picked her up, did the surgery, dropped her home with follow-up at home examinations. Total cost 1050. What a joke Sydney Uni has become Price gouging for insurance purposes and trading on people's emotions for their pets. Is Disgusting

We were referred by our local vet to seek specialist veterinary care. Our blood tests and ultrasound reports were sent via email and received by UVTHS. Penny was seen by a vet and recommended we stay overnight and called in the morning to say they would repeat the ultrasound costing an additional $810. All urine and blood tests were repeated only to have the same outcomes as our local vet. A diagnosis was eventually made on exactly the same results as done by local vet but at a hugely inflated price! Upon discharge there was no vet present to answer our questions regarding diet and what the future would look like for our dog. Total cost $4600 of which $1700 was our local vet only to get a diagnosis. Massively dissatisfied and disappointed in the entire experience.

We came to the after-hours emergency vet after our senior dog fainted and was very weak. It was around 2am in the morning. The nurse picked up our call right away when we called in the middle of the night. When we arrived, Dr Hardy Chen was absolutely wonderful. He was able to examine and run tests on our dog, give us really thorough and detailed explanations of what had happened, and was very patient with answering all our questions. He gave us well-explained recommendations of what next steps we should take to care for our dog. He was also very gentle with our anxious dog. Honestly, we were also incredibly anxious and Dr Hardy's calm nature really helped. Thank you so much to the team, and a big shoutout to Dr Hardy Chen

We took our pug in at 4am with extreme pain and said we suspect it’s his ears. The Doctor (and subsequent Doctors) ignored us and treated him for 4 days (and a bill of $6000) later and guess what? EAR INFECTION. This is unacceptable and basically intellectual arrogance. Had they listened to us, we would have saved 4 days of pain and suffering for our pug and us. We eventually discharged him and took him to Annandale Vet Hospital where he finally received the care he needed. The medications were also outrageously expensive (4 Panadol for $36 ?!?!) . We had no choice and were emotional so we had to pay this huge bill in order to take him home. I do not recommend going there as you will not be listed to. We will never return.

Every aspect of the service here is top notch - we chose the uni vet practice as I loved that my children could see a little of how a university clinic operated. The vets are excellent and all students are delightful and very well supervised, well educated and never rushed. There’s a full range of services, lots of parking and even pathology services onsite. Fair prices too. You can ask as many questions as you like and there’s a full range of food or other items and no pressure to buy. Big shout out to Api at reception and also the vet who often cared for my dog - Alison, who gave thorough assessments, treatment and follow up phone calls and emails, can’t thank her enough. Woof from Lexie the cavoodle.

I took my chihuahua for emergency here costs me nearly $300 without giving me any medication and the doctor only show me that my dog need to do blood test and xray which is costs nearly $2000. I refused to do all the procedures. After that i took my dog to my local Vet said that my dog had lung inflammation and gave my dog medication for a week now my dog is back to normal and happy only cost $140 included consultant fee. This emergency Vet try to get money from us and didnt give any medication. if the dogs have any symptoms just base on it please give medication first with the doctor experience. Why only small problems have to do all the procedure which cost alots of money.

My experience with Maddie Roberts has been excellent. Maddie is very thorough and caring. My local vet had no idea what was happening with my cat and suggested I go to Sydney Uni. My cat is a very complicated case and needed the experience of the range of professionals within this clinic. The upside of using Sydney Uni is that there are many specialists on hand to consult with and a range of experience to draw from. For complex cases this is advantageous as opposed to a local vet clinic. It is on the pricey side but if I had of taken my cat here in the first place I would've actually saved money. I highly recommend this clinic for complex cases.

I had to put my cat Angel to sleep recently and the staff were incredibly compassionate and understanding in such a horrific time for me. They were very professional and made Angel as comfortable as she possibly could be and made an awful time a little bit easier to deal with. They were also very fast with returning her ashes to me, I was originally told I would get her ashes back in a fortnight and I had them back in four days and the ashes came back in the most beautiful box as well. Thank you to the lovely vet nurse who sat with me after Angel passed and answered any questions I had. She was very polite and compassionate as well.

Dr Nicolle Kirkwood has been wonderful in treating my cat! He had been going to another vet practice and put on all sorts of expensive foods to no end but it wasn't until we took him here we got some real insight and proactive, long term treatment. I had almost lost hope in him being able to live normal but after a week stay at SUVTH and the right medication he is a happy, healthy cat. She was also very communicative calling me almost daily during his stay there which was extremely helpful. They offer a very diverse set of specialists so they have every possible treatment path available.

Very bad service. The doctor told me no extra charges but they charged me extra and my cat is was dead for 5 months ago and they just contract me to pay because I overdue now. All my name and my email were wrong and they told me that they email me many times to pay the bill. Yes, of course, you sent the wrong email. Finally, they sent me the letter to my address to pay. It was $540 something. It was so expensive to pay and my cat is already dead for 5 months ago. Thank God that they still give m 10% for me to apologise. I never come back here again!! Please go somewhere else.

We have been a client of Sydney University clinic for many years. I have always found their vets professional, friendly and very good. They always answer whatever questions I have, no matter how trivial it may be. Their professionalism and care for our dog/s (past and present) I will always be grateful for. With my last visit (last week), they were fully booked but the receptionist said she will fit me in, probably noticing the “panic” and “concern” in my voice for our dog. Not many places will do this. I highly recommend the vets and staff at Sydney University clinic.

My dog was very unwell, was a close call and we almost needed to make the big decision - the staff (vets, vet nurses and admin guys) took us in, made us comfortable and stepped us through the care process with feeling, emotion and expert advice. In the end, we believe we got the best care available, and our Dog - Hugo - is now recovering well. We don't know what the future holds for him at this stage, but we are comfortable we made the right decision for him irrespective of this. From receptionist Jessica to the treating vet Dr Pritchard, the experience is so comforting to be reassured that they care for the well-being of me and my cat. Dr Pritchard previously treated my cat in the ICU and offered a consult room that my cat is oxygenated and I can spend time with her alone. This time Dr Pritchard treated her with other issues attentively and was so generous with her time to even prepare the medication for me so I don't have to worry after I get home. She always return my phone calls . She is so compassionate and gentle to treat my cat.

We found stray cat that just ran over the Parramatta road. We took the cat to this hospital to scan microchip and find the owner as this cat look like someone’s pet. We called the hospital make sure it’s open.. and then walking 1.5k and hoping the cat will be able to find home. The problem is the nurse vet said the scanner just broken. The nurse vet help us just only by using google or take to RSPCA or take the cat and leave it where we found. That’s sad ..Its such a big hospital and there is only one scanner. This hospital should be our hope not hopeless.

Thank you to the team for all the amazing work and care they provided for our British bulldog puppy Pablo . I see some of the reviews here and I can't believe the negativity. They worked so hard and cared so much for him. Pablo swallowed a bone at full and they removed it without surgery, They contacted us throughout the whole day , kept us posted with absolutely everything, they spoiled him with love from the beginning. Visited emergency 5 times with different animals and always received the best care. Doctors and nurses are competent and love animals. Separate huge thank you to Dr Hardy Chen who was looking after my little Pomeranian boy who was admitted with neck pain and respiratory issues. He took such good care of my boy, did all tests straight away and explained every detail of health issues and forward treatment & care. Dr Hardy Chen is kind animals loving person with extensive knowledge in animal health. Can’t thank Dr Hardy Chen enough.

We brought our dog Bruce in a couple of days ago at around midnight when he was experiencing a scary and serious seizure. The team of vets and nurses were absolutely fantastic. They were realistic about the potential outcome, but also compassionate. They even answered all of our many panicked calls throughout the night, and updated us every step of the way. Bruce has miraculously made a full recovery and we are so happy to have our little boy home with us thanks to the team at Sydney University Veterinary Teaching Hospital!

I cannot recommend UVTHS more highly. We brought our little dog into Emergency after two seizures last weekend and received exemplary care from Dr Suzanna and Dr Lauren. She was admitted and has been in the care of Dr Jane since then. We have a sad result but I don't think I can do justice to the level of care and compassion provided by Dr Jane and the rest of the team. We're incredibly grateful for everything they've done for Squeak, it's allowed us a little more time with her and that feels like a miracle.

At this stage my dog is currently with the wonderful vets at Sydney University! He went in for surgery to remove a mass and so far he’s doing well. It’s so hard as it is to see your dog suffering but the staff here have been nothing but KIND and SYMPATHETIC towards my husband and myself. Needless to say will this become how regular place for further issues or just general check up!! YES it will! Can not thank them enough for their ongoing care.

Worth every penny! I credit the amazing specialists at this hospital with giving my beloved cat a few additional lives. He had a multitude of different medical problems towards the end of his life but these were managed with care and attention by the amazing people here. He lived until 19 years old in the end and I will always be grateful for the extra time they gave me with him. I'd go to your usual vets for day-to-day issues and these guys for real help.

The Vets have been amazing as well as all the staff. Loki had ACL surgery and surgeons took their time before and after the surgery to explain everything in detail. You definitely feel that your pet is in the very best hand and care when they are here. Also a massive thank to all the staff who went above and beyond in helping with our insurance. The doctors and staff at this clinic are amazing. They took my poor paralysed dog in immediately and treated her for two and a half weeks, with love, care and expertise. She is now well on the way to recovery and is walking on four legs again. The check ups have been great - I can highly recommend this practice to anyone who wants their dog well looked after by experts and caring staff.

Everyone was super nice! Jeremy took care of our 7 month old staffy after a dog bit him on the face. Jeremy answered all of our questions concisely, eased my guilt about asking too many questions and didn’t make us feel rushed at all. Clinic staff were warm, friendly and n knowledgeable. The vet explained my greyhound’s condition, possible causes and future considerations, and I felt included in deciding a course of action. Due to Covid I had to leave my in their care and wait outside. She came back out to me seeming very calm and well-cared for. Great experience for a public holiday emergency.

If we hadn’t brought our dog here, not sure he would still be with us today. They are the best for complicated cases and diagnosed a rare case within 24 hours. They communicated well on all occasions and kept us informed (even through the night) on possible tests, treatment plans and his general well being. Highly recommended, they generally care about your pet!

Second time going and they have been very helpful - they are thorough with our cat and make sure they explore all differentials before confirming a diagnosis. It's on the pricier side but I feel confident that our cat has been well taken care of and spend a good amount of time examining him. They also make an effort to make sure our cat feels comfortable.

Waited for 3 hrs for a $500 potassium tablet! Supposedly that was the diagnosis given to my cat for limping on a very swollen leg. Next day took her to the local vet. In 10 mins she was diagnosed, knee drained, and given pain killers. Total cost $200. This Vet emergency clinic takes advantage of folks at their weakest moment. Shame on you.

Stop referring to this uni vet practice. They are not cheaper, nor more caring than other vets, they are not even friendly but rude and arrogant. They told me on the phone they charge $310 to see a specialist and they don’t take new patients for generalist consultations. VSOS are much cheaper, as good, more caring and friendlier.
