"My name is Lane Peterson and I just wanted to leave a review! I work throughout the downtown area and I stop in here pretty often and I just want to say that this place is amazing! The BEST coffee and tea in Jacksonville, hands down! I was working today on a Saturday and decided to stop in and get a Large Vanilla Chai Latte with extra Chai and it was easily the best Chai Latte I've ever had"
If there's one word to describe the customer serve on 4/23 it's: SNIPPY. Sadly, we were disappointed on our visit to Urban coffee. While the reviews were fantastic and rarely do high reviews lie about an establishment, this place is the exception. This review is more-so for the owner if they see read the reviews. As a former restaurant owner, I would be livid if I had employees treat my customers they way we were treated. No one greeted us on our way in. No biggie. We waited for about 3 mins at the register while they were busy making drinks. Basic customer service is to say "we'll be with you shortly". Not hard and not a big deal. They were annoyed when we're asking questions about their food (We're not locals and are not familiar with the menu). When we asked if these were our drinks at the end of the table, it was met with the most snippy and unfriendly attitude I've experienced at a high rated cafe..."well I don't know what did you order?!" We said our drinks and she said "well then that's yours" when I asked about the whereabouts of my overly sugary açaí berry smoothie, "I'm not done yet, I'm still making it". Completely unnecessary attitude that will cost this business money over some bad employees. I've never been treated like that and it was surprising to think that behavior is acceptable in a customer service industry. Hopefully some changes get made and attitudes are adjusted. The coffee was good though.

I truly loved coming here! Not only was the employee super sweet and inviting, but I love the overall environment. The menu focus more on the simplicity of coffee and teas, but I think the craft of their coffee stays true to what coffee should be! My sister ordered a carrot cake muffin which was super affordable and one of the most delicious muffins I had. It was sweet and moist and we both devoured it in minutes. It is also quite large and for under $3, you can’t beat that! I got the Tangerine Dream which is one of their seasonal items for the summer. If you are looking for something refreshing, sweet, and not heavy, this drink is delicious. I would ask for light ice but other than that, it’s not too potent, it tastes almost like a tea, but is still so good! I would definitely love to come back here! The outdoor seating area is beautiful as well and the overall atmosphere is perfect for working at a cafe. It is affordable, have a range of items, the baked goods are delicious.
First time there. Girl on espresso machine was incredibly rude for no reason and ruined the experience. Girl at register was lovely. A few things to note, dear barista: - a latte has proportions of milk to espresso, 3 to 1. So when you do two shots in a 16 oz cup, it's not a latte. It's espresso with too much milk to be a latte. - lattes are different from a cappuccino and only have a few centimeters at most of foam. -what you served me was an 8oz cappuccino, which is why I asked for more milk...bc while I didn't want 16 oz of milk in my latte, I also didn't want espresso with 6oz of foam. Perhaps next time you treat a customer with your unprovoked disdain, you should probably be sure you're not ill-informed about your craft.

the white girl with the brown hair (in a bob) is extremely rude. accused me of STEALING in front of other customers. I guess because I am black I look like other black people that steal??? Sorry not sorry to say I won’t be returning to Urban Grind, a place I go to almost everyday and PAY. My people of color, be careful here, especially with her, she may accuse you one day as well as it is not her first time of making false accusations against customers from what I heard. The food is not that good and over priced. everything is sat out dry and microwaved when you order. Coffee/Drinks are $6+, the other baristas aren’t that friendly either and gossip about each other in front of customers as well. They have a lot to work on here!! Not sad about my depart from them.

My name is Lane Peterson and I just wanted to leave a review! I work throughout the downtown area and I stop in here pretty often and I just want to say that this place is amazing! The BEST coffee and tea in Jacksonville, hands down! I was working today on a Saturday and decided to stop in and get a Large Vanilla Chai Latte with extra Chai and it was easily the best Chai Latte I've ever had. And I am a Chai Latte FREAK! Michelle and I believe her name is Nicole, please forgive me if I am wrong, were working today and they were amazing, as is the rest of the staff always. They're always so polite and professional and I almost never leave reviews but I just wanted to give them the credit they deserve! Thank you Michelle, Nicole and the rest of the staff at Urban Grind, you guys are amazing!
I have been a regular here for quite some time now because the baristas, food/pastries, and drinks are PHENOMENAL. Michele, Kayla, Nicole, Mimi, and all of the baristas are so kind and have the best recommendations!!!! I look forward to coming here every day just to see them and get my latte! The vibes are perfect and so welcoming. Their seasonal drink options are so creative and always tasty! I absolutely adore and will always recommend Urban Grind!!!! <3

Terrific spot in downtown Jacksonville. Had one of the best cups of coffee. According to the owner, the coffee is locally roasted and the beans are always super fresh, and you can definitely taste the difference. The homemade granola with yogurt and fruit is also just amazing. Finally, the baristas and the owner are all extremely friendly and pleasant. The atrium is a great place to sit and enjoy the excellent coffee. Alternatively, you can take your cup to go and enjoy it right at the river, which is only a few steps away.

There are a couple of spots right on the street outside the coffee shop.
I went to this place based on location and reviews. So happy it was open on Sunday as most are not in the downtown location. The two women behind the counter were pleasant. The cafe is quaint. They had tables and chairs just outside. A nice variety of coffee drinks offered. They had a display case with bakery items. They also offer delicious sandwiches. The chicken salad sandwich is highly recommend!! For a sweet treat I got the cinnamon roll AMAZING.

This was my first time visiting this coffee shop and it far exceeded any expectations I had! I don't know much about coffee but the baristas were not only friendly, but very patient and accommodating! They answered all my questions with a smile and not only helped me learn the difference between a cafe con leche and a cortado but to figure out my favorite coffee is made with oat milk! 10/10 will be recommending this place to everyone that I know!!!

This place was phenomenal! I went mainly for the coffee because I love trying local coffee shops when I'm away from home, but the reviews and menu told me to stay for lunch. First off, this is only the second place in America that I've found that can make a TRUE flat white properly. Their baristas are exceptional. The food was outstanding as well. I had their take on the Cuban sandwich, which was on the same level as a Miami Cuban. Their nutella-banana waffle boat was delicious also! I will always come back her when I'm in Jacksonville!
Found this while strolling downtown with my daughter. This place is such a Great hidden gem. They have amazing everything. Literally been back over 3 times. We have tried the iced coffees.chai teas. Matcha green latte iced and hot. The smoothies are absolutely amazing. All the food is very fresh and delicious. Staff are super super friendly. And they have seating inside and outback .

Cute coffee shop. Love the low key, dim lighting, chill music vibe going on in here. I Loved their outside seating area as well. If you’re looking for a quiet place to enjoy your coffee , grab a bagel or pastry and do some work on your laptop this is definitely the place. Only thing is I wish they had real food not just bagels and pastries. Other than that this place is super cute.

I got a broccoli cheese soup with croutons, a cheese bagel with vegetable cream cheese and a spiced brown sugar latte with oat milk. Everything tasted great. The service was great. I wish I was local so I could come back. I was just driving through on my way back to Augusta from Orlando.

The girls who work here are super down to earth and friendly. The hot chocolate is amazing as well as their cherry and cheese Danish. I definitely will be a repeat client, as the vibe of the seating area is super relaxed. It's a great place to hangout with friends or even just drink coffee and read a book!

I like the atmosphere of the garden outside, but it was a very small shop that is obviously geared toward the business district. We arrived 10 minutes before they closed and they were not/did not want to brew drip coffee for my husband. He enjoyed his latte and I enjoy my decaffeinated iced tea, which was a nice option that is not common to most places. Not sure I would visit again but did not hate my experience.
This place is actually a really neat place! From the tiny little coffee shop to the “urban garden” outside the coffee shop. I thought it was very unique and their bagel and cream cheese was very delicious (jalapeño cheddar w sun dried tomato cream cheese was just hitting different) most definitely want to come back to this hidden gem!

I needed a new spot to read and this is a hidden gem. Small but chic and cozy, you order your food in the cafe and there’s a covered seating area out back. I enjoyed this part a-lot as it enhanced my reading experience for the day. The coffee was great and the everything bagel was even better. Close by the bridge so you can have a quick snack and nice walk.

I have gone here every day since the first time getting a iced latte !! The coffee is great , the food is great. But the thing that brings it all together is the service! I love how the man in charge sits right there and says hello to everyone. The women behind the counter are awesome! Haven’t gotten anything wrong so far ! Beautiful place , I truly can’t say anything bad about them.
Baristas were great the area is a great vibe i will definitely take my clients here for meetings. Cinnamon roll had cream cheese frosting and was tasty, the chicken salad sandwich wasn't bad either

It's an interesting space. Where they sell the coffee is more a counter than a shop. The seating is in an industrial design dim foyer of a creator style office complex. High red brick walls and a grey metal staircase in the middle going who knows where. While cool it's not 100% inviting but generally a nice vibe. Coffee is self served in paper cups . Taste was fine.
Good cold brew, friendly staff and even friendlier customers. Ham and cheddar egg casserole hour the spot for breakfast. As others have pointed out, it's a counter with a window facing space with about 3 stools, but the main seating area is a shared and open space where it seems good to chill for a few hours. If Iived/worked here, I would go here regularly.
I placed an order for 30 pastries. When I arrived this morning, everything was ready for me. The pastries were packed in boxes, which made them easy to tote and presented well. Plus, the manager helped me carry the boxes to my office across the street. Incredibly nice and a pleasant surprise! And the pastries were delicious!! We will certainly be back.
How awesome that they are open 6 days a week in downtown Jacksonville? Most things are closed which makes downtown a place you don't want to go to on a Saturday or Sunday. Absolutely love their fresh bakery items and their unique coffee and smoothie concoctions. Plus there is a really nice indoor outdoor kind of space where you can sit and relax.
I came to this coffee shop 12/30/21 and ordered a sugar free white chocolate latte with almond milk and thought it tasted off. After I had already taken a few sips of my coffee I opened the lid to add in some splenda and saw the answer to my problem- MOLD. Not sure how the barista missed this but definitely not coming back EVER again.
Hands down the best coffee shop downtown!! The industrial aesthetic gives the place a very homey feel, coupled with friendly staff and GREAT coffee. I have come in almost every weekday since I started working downtown last year! Michelle, Mimi, and Nicole are my favorite baristas ♥

Omg! The customer service!!! Amazing! The best caramel macchiato I’ve ever had (yes, including Starbucks), anddddddddd I ordered a bagel with cream cheese! They toasted my bagel to perfection, put my cream cheese on it for me and sliced it in half! I didn’t have to worry about mess like I do anywhere else! Super cute and delicious!!!

First experience here was amazing!! Love the environment and atmosphere. They have a fantastic out door lounge with shade to do school work for college students or any kind of computer work. The workers and owners were super friendly and outgoing!! I would definitely recommend their coffee and chicken salad croissant.
This coffee shop makes me feel like Im visiting a small, local cafe in New York and I love it. The decor is cute, the seating area outside is very relaxing and trendy, and the staff is very nice. I’m not much of a coffee person so I love that they offer smoothies and teas as well. The lunch is delicious . …
Urban Grind became a part of my daily routine after the first time I went there. The service is fantastic, I always look forward to going in and seeing Stacey and the crew. The coffee is amazing and there is a delicious selection of healthy food. My favorite place downtown by far. I absolutely love this place!
Stumbled on this place after walking across the river as there were no decent coffee shops southside. Beautiful coffee, very fresh roast, excellent cakes and sandwiches at a good price. Hugely attentive staff and a great indoor courtyard garden to sit in. Don't miss this place, it's a coffee lovers treat.
Very nice vibes! Love the ambiance, music choices, and the sitting areas. Would definitely do lunch here also!

Cute coffee shop with a fun vibe! We stayed in Jacksonville overnight while traveling through and my husband found this gem. I got and almond milk latte with coconut flavor and he got a drip coffee. We both also got egg sandwiches which were delicious! Would highly recommend.
I want to say that we try the coffee and hot chocolate and they are really good, The coffee they have is good, the place is small but they a lot of things to get and even breakfast, after a good run ♂️ you stop and get a coffe.

Cute local coffee house in the middle of downtown. The staff was friendly and the coffee was great. It has a quiet “urban garden” in the back where it is easy to work without interruption. Happy to support a local business like this instead of a chain.

Eh.. Fast and easy. Not going to win any awards for the food or coffee. My egg salad sandwich could have used lettuce, pickle or anything else to add flavor. $6+ dollars for a plain sandwich or bagel. So basically $10 with tip for a coffee
