This is my first time having to use this emergency veterinarian,.. Usually my Sunday’s are reserved for some me time, but Chloe my 8year old Manchester terrier had other things planned, like bloody diarrhea, despite being seen by our regular Vet on Thursday. I am so glad I found this place. I usually pick a place based off of reviews and they had great reviews, with the exception of a few, but looking at the qty of reviews , the negative reviews were VERY MINIMAL to say the least! The staff ( Mackenzie, And the other young lady I spoke with over the phone, I’m sorry I can’t recall your name, Nora and Dr. Davidson [ I believe]) were all exceptional, professional, and courteous. Thank you for being there in our time of need!!! We all have to remember that sickness and Death are inconvenient occurrences in life.. AND we must BE mindful when writing reviews that these are our front line workers who are there when we unexpectedly need their services and that people like myself and others rely heavily on reviews when looking for places of business. Again VCA thank you for all that you do. Sincerely Chloe’ s Mom
As grateful as I am for their help, it seems there’s a new vet every day. I had to bring my cat here every other day for a little over a week and each time was a new vet. They had no communication with each other and I was extremely dissatisfied that the tests that should’ve been done originally weren’t even thought of by the vet until day 2 of our visit. The nurses here are extremely kind and the front desk is a hit or miss. We had to leave our cat there for the morning for some more monitoring, but when I called for an update, it seems they had a power outage and I was spoken to very rudely on the phone when I just needed an update for when to pick up my cat. I asked my friend to call them and try and he received nice treatment and was immediately given a response on what time to pick him up. I was shocked at this kind of treatment. Luckily, I just went there to pick him up anyways in the meantime and he was ready! I could’ve been informed on the phone instead of such rude treatment and passive aggressiveness.
This place is Literally a LIFE SAVER! They... Dr. Christine Washington & Dr. Virgo saved my Pomeranian when St. Francis veterinary specialist & emergency Melissa Ehrlich, DVM & I quote... "... if you cannot afford to pay $8,000 for your pet, maybe you should put him down"... BEFORE Even examining or getting his xrays. Boots went from great to fatal in almost 24 hours with no prior warning signs of stones in his urethra that stopped him from urinating, eating and drinking water & vomitting it back up. I never felt so hopeless in my life. This dog has helped me thru 2 breast cancer diagnosis & multiple surgeries. He's the love of our entire family's Life! If you seen him you'd fall in love! Christine checked in on him on her days off and over the holidays! I'm most grateful and will only take our 3 FurBabies & granddawgies here. THANK YOU Christine Washington & VCA
My cat, Akira, had a ruptured bladder. Unfortunately he was not able to be saved. But I can say that these very kind people did every single thing they could do to save my boy and did their best to make it a manageable price as it was a very unexpected expense. Even the process of humane euthanasia was as easy as something like that could be. I want to give a massive thank you to the valorant efforts made by Laura Howard, Lauren Clifton, Aaron Manness and the kind woman whose name I didn't catch who held my hand through his euthanasia. A massive thank you to the staff who played a role behind the scenes. And a massive thank you to hospital manager Marry Ann Miller. Thank you all so much for what you do. When I'm ready to take in another pet, this is the place I will be bringing them to without a doubt.
My partner took her male cat here for a urinary blockage a few years back. They told her either he has to be flushed and catheterized for 3000 dollars or euthanized. She opened a care credit and paid the 3000. 2 weeks later he blocked again and they charged her another 1500 for another flush. She had to do her own research online to find out there is a surgery to solve the problem for about the same cost. They didn't even mention to her the surgical option. Remember that doctors don't know everything, and if they are set on doing something they often won't second guess themselves. Its always good to do your own research and ask them questions. Not every medical professional is the same. Sometimes they just want to treat you and send you out the door, not actually solve your problem.
My 13 year old dog started having a seizure on the morning of July 4th. Being a holiday I struggled to find an emergency vet that was open but I called this business asked the prices and told them I would be heading their way with my dog and they said they would be ready for me. As soon as I got there they rushed to my car and helped me pick up my 60lbs seizing dog and bring her straight in to the back where the doctor was ready and waiting. She was seizing for a substantial time and I decided it would be best to put her down. The Doctor was empathetic, kind, and extremely professional. I’m really really glad I went here and I’m grateful they took the situation as seriously as it felt to me. She was a very good dog.
I will start by saying that the doctor and tech we dealt with were great - very kind and professional. However, my experience with the front desk staff was completely different. When I entered, the 3 front desk staff stared at me blankly and actually made me initiate the conversation...in an emergency hospital. We were the only people there, so they certainly weren't busy. While waiting on my dog to receive treatment I asked one of the front desk staff a question and she replied with a very rude tone and wouldn't even look at me. If I could rate just the doctor and tech I would give them 5 stars. If I could rate just the front desk staff I would give them 1 star.
I've used the VCA Animal Emergency Center twice now for my pet. The service both times has been incredible and I have always felt like my pet and I are in good hands. The team genuinely cares about your pet's well-being (e.g, follow up phone calls about the status of your pet , calling to see how your pet is doing after you've left, etc.). I've had really positive experiences with both Dr. Dowell and Dr. Rowbotham and I am so appreciative of the care they've provided to my pet. Any pet emergency is awful, but there's also a peace of mind knowing that VCA is there to help!
I had an emergency with my dog this evening. I arrived at this location at 8:08 pm. I called the number listed on the website because there were no cars outside. I spoke with a young lady and informed her that I was outside and she stated that the office closed at 8pm. I then informed her that the website says that the location closes at 10 pm. She also informed me that the hours had changed on May 1st , please change your hours on the website. This was very inconvenient and upsetting for me as I had an emergency with my dog.
Excellent Vet care from all staff members! Our first experience was an emergency with our dog, and the care, communication, and transparency was impressive! Our second experience was just as impressive, as we sought for a second opinion and they were so transparent with everything! Great communication with the vets! They’re all so great that we changed our primary vet to VCA for all of our dogs last year and have only been so thankful and at ease knowing they’re getting the best care!
I need to say thank you so much for the care you gave my best friend and little one last night. I am from out of state and Bella was having issues breathing. I rushed her to this location and they immediately treated Bella like family and made me feel so comfortable and safe. She left with the medication she needed and is doing so much better. I appreciate you all caring. She is family and this location cares hands down. I am beyond grateful!!!
By far one of the best hospitals I have ever been to. Prices are actually pretty decent and cheaper than some of the local vets I have been to. I also appreciated being shown prices up front and having complete transparency about what everything cost. Had an appt at 11 and was seen on time, which was nice to be in and out. Our vet was amazing and super attentive to our pups problems! I highly recommend coming here
This was my first time ever visiting an emergency vet and let me tell you. They have the NICEST workers there. They took care of my sweet baby Bella and also me. I was a mess. Thank you VCA for what you’ve done and what you continue to do for everyone! Bella (A.K.A. Best Kitty In The World) according to you all is doing amazing and I’m sure she appreciates all that y’all have done aswell
Kind folks, did a great job of communication. I think that's critical when a pet is not doing well. It's reassuring. They also gave good instructions on how to move forward. For a mid week evening it was very busy. But the staff did a good job of servicing folks even while we sat in the parking lot for social distancing purposes. My doggo is on the mend and I've got peace of mind.
I was told by the staff I could come back for a walk in at 3:30PM once the doctors were off from break. I waited patiently and then at 3:30PM, they told me they couldn’t see me. My dog wasn’t seen, they didn’t care about the situation or him & they wasted my time. My dog is unable to see a vet now today. Rude behavior & took no accountability.
Brought my pet chicken in recently for digestive issues. Dr. Benfield was amazing and was clearly familiar with birds. She walked us through each step that was needed and explained any risks. It’s great to know we have an awesome vet nearby in case there is another issue with our flock. Would highly recommend to other chicken owners.
I came here with my pet for an emergency situation, and every single staff member I spoke with were so incredibly kind, compassionate, and understanding. They gave us all the time we needed, and talked us through everything in a very calm and professional manner during a very difficult time. I would highly recommend this place.
I took my puppy here due to an extended stomach and weight loss. The staff and vet were extremely thorough to ensure they did not miss anything. They even updated me on her condition despite it being late at night (of course I was up worrying)! They got my puppy back to health quickly and now Mocha is feeling great. Thank you!
pls dont go here if your pet is having an emergency. i waited two hours to be seen before leaving to go somewhere else. it wasn't busy at all only my dog and another that they were attending too. i left cause my dog started wining being in the freezing room for over two hours. it will make ur already bad day -worse.
The people who work here are compassionate and caring. To the animals and people. The young lady, Meghan, who works up front was very sweet and helpful. She answered all my questions and adressed all my concerns. I really appreciated her and everyone else. They all treated me so nice during my visit. …
Dr. Washington is unlike any other person I've ever encountered. Kind, understanding, professional, knowledgable (and not just in her field of expertise but she knows how to communicate in an informative and compassionate manner) she genuinely cares for animals and the owners. One of a kind Woman.
These people were very great to me and my dog when he had an unexpected bulging disc. They put him on fluids and pain meds right away and got to work diagnosing they problem. When my regular vet turned us away, VCA was compassionate and treated our situation like the emergency it was.
I have been going to VCA for 12 years and the Piedmont location for 5. Vets and staff are always so sweet and professional. Yes they are a little pricier than other veterinary offices but I rather pay a little more for the service and love they always show to my fur babies.
Walked in on a Sunday afternoon and was seen immediately – the other place I called had a 3.5 hour wait. The doctor was helpful and thorough. We followed up with our vet the following Tuesday with the advice we got at VCA. Our baby is feeling much better.
Took my cat Lion in for breathing issues, turned out he has asthma. Who knew, the Dr. Was very thorough in examination and assessment. Covid guidelines are in effect so I wasn't able to be with him. I was kept informed and assured He was in good hands.
i don’t recall the names of who saw my pup (kiba), but everyone here is so friendly! was able to make an appointment within a day of calling, the front desk and vets were super kind and loving towards kiba. love it here and definitely recommend!
Please update Google information that they are NOT open until 10pm. Not great to find out when you're driving your dog who's having trouble breathing to the nearest hospital only to find a sign on the door stating they close at 6 pm since June.
The staff here is AMAZING! I am forever thankful for the gentleman who came to my car and checked on my puppys paw/leg to make sure she didn't break it! He was a BLESSING! If ever an emergency, this is the place to go :)
The emergency vet seemed very empathetic and warm over the phone. It was nerve wracking doing emergency services while social distancing, but I felt the staff did their best to help ease my fears overall.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Answered any questions I had. Very attentive of the needs of my pet. Made recommendations that was in the best interest of my pet. I would continue using this facility
Great emergency vet! They took great care of our dog when he got into something that made him sick. Thankful to have a place open all the time so close that cares about our pets!
A wonderful experience, my baby received excellent care. From the clerks up front, to Vet Tech Christopher, and Dr. Dowell. You all are greatly appreciated!
They need a moble unit. It's not easy getting a dog over 100 pounds into a car when they are sick.
Vets are great, but always waited at least an hour before seeing the vet even with an appointment.
My sister's cat got sick. The only place that would take her was VCA.
Very thorough and answered all our questions about our pet's care.
Customer service was great & the cost was very reasonable.
Excellent customer and the employees are very friendly.
Look no further! Best emergency vet care in midtown!
Nice staff. Parking was limited. Wait time was long.
They care your lovely one and great staff.
Very helpful, they were extremely nice.
Great, but make an appointment.
Slow, expensive but good food.
Amazing staff and caring!!!!!
They are awesome.
Nice staff
