The entire team at VCA took such good care of me. I was rescued in April 2016 in Denton TX by Emerald City Pet Rescue. I stayed in TX until August while I waited for the next transport to bring me to Seattle. When I got here they discovered I had a moderate case of heartworm so I was sent to VCA where I stayed during the 2 months of treatment. In September I was adopted by this nice lady who was looking for a new fur baby. After I was adopted we discovered that I needed a few more visits to VCA to make sure I was heartworm free. Over the past few months we made the drive from Everett to West Seattle for overnight stays, treatments and blood draws, and finally for my spay. The spay was a major event because I could not have it done until the heartworm was all gone. Each time we went to VCA they treated my like family which made my new person very happy. Last Thursday was my spay and my last visit to VCA, and when we left all of the people who worked there said their goodbyes. This made my new person cry because she was so glad that they took such good care of me before we met. So VCA, from me and my new person we thank you so much for your love and care before and after my adoption. Hugs and kisses from your friend Bayou.
Really torn about VCA. Was referred here by someone who loves the VCA in Burien. The staff is really lovely. Very kind and genuine about the care toward animals. But it felt like they didn’t really know how to handle or control my anxious puppy for vaccines.. I had to help hold him. First try only got half the injection. And they let him eat an excessive amount of treats right out of the container to distract him. While that’s nice of them to give treats, it was a bit much. Felt like they had never dealt with vaccines on an anxious puppy. Recently I’ve been so frustrated to find out that VCA’s aren’t connected… so I can’t just go to any and they have my pups file on hand. I have to pay a new exam fee for every different vca. This doesn’t make sense to me… considering in order to get in you have to make an appointment like 3+ weeks out. This isn’t helpful for any issues that need to be taken care of at least “soon.” The process for cancellations and drop offs is average I suppose. But it doesn’t work very well for someone who has a normal 9-5 kind of job. Overall, the staff and people is what gives it any positives. All else is kind of mute.
I absolutely love this clinic! I have had nothing but positive experiences every time I have brought my cats in. The thing I appreciate most is I feel like the vets really listen to my concerns, and steer me away from unnecessary, expensive tests. The staff are always so kind whenever I come in. When we were struggling with fleas, my vet recommended the best flea medication I have ever used. Got rid of them right quick. And when one of my cats had to get a bunch of teeth removed, and the staff were very understanding about our financial state. They were great about giving us our options for payment. They even managed to save one tooth that didnt actually need to come out! My cats are very anxious, and they have always been very accomodating and understanding of this. Even if only one is coming in, they accommodate both coming to make the trip less stressful. They are also great at letting me schedule them together for checkups! This is a more expensive vet office, but honestly the quality of care is worth every penny. I trust my babies here more than any other clinic.
Dr. Wick and the entire staff at VCA have been so amazing with me and my cat. First of all they were the only people around west seattle who weren't just turning me away due to reached capacity... not only that but they cared so much about my kitty's vomiting that they fit me in as soon as they could, and also followed up to check on us with an extra phone call and more care recommendations. At our visit, Dr. Wick at VCA kept insisting that I check on my houseplants in case my cat was chewing on a lily to cause her weird lab work. She turned out to be right, and was so patient and empathetic in explaining things. Even if that hadn't been the cause, I would have had full trust in her for any next recommendation(s) she would have. I trusted that she was ruling things out in the proper holistic order, and it made me feel so safe with her. She calmed me down so much when my brain just wanted to go to "worst case scenario." Thank you, Dr. Wick!! -mira's mom
I took my late dog Bella here for about the last 4 years of her, and that final year we were here a lot. The staff is always very sweet. We had seen a few different vets during that time but each one was capable and courteous listening to my concerns, being gentle with Bella who had a vey strong love hate relationship with going to the vet. Since she was 3 her bested thyroid meant semi-frequent monitoring visits on top of the usual visits so anything to make these easier on her was appreciated. She loved the staff, just hated the needles but was a champ for them. As she got older I also only trusted them for boarding and trimming her nails. Then when it came time to make that final decision and we were having frequent appointments at that point, the vet we spoke with had just put to sleep one of her own dogs and we were all able to have a very hard but needed conversation and I can not be more thankful for her compassion and empathy.
I took my newly adopted kitty here after receiving a free exam certificate from Seattle Humane. She wasn't able to be seen at her first appointment because she was too scared and tried to bite the vet, so I was prescribed some gabapentin. So I tried again, but was late to the appointment which was only 15 minutes long (I think they could've communicated that to me a little better). However, the third time was the charm and after giving my cat some gabapentin she even earned "star patient of the day"! Dr. Wick did a great job of explaining things things to me. It seems like they are busier nowadays, especially since they have to ask people to wait in their car because of Covid protocols, but they are trying their best. The receptionists seem a bit stressed, but Jasmine the vet tech is great, and they are taking care of a lot of animals so be patient!
Rude receptionist, horrible communication in general. Vet left a message that something was wrong with my dog’s blood test results, and then I couldn’t get in contact with him for two weeks, even though I left messages with the front desk letting them know when I would be available, and I didn’t make plans on my days off just in case he called. At one point someone told me he would be able to call at a specific time, and when I called after 45 minutes past that time they were extremely rude and said they never told me that. Eventually they had a different vet call me, but it was an ordeal. Also, after boarding my dog there a separate time, he seemed really depressed and I had to go back to get him out of his cage because he wouldn’t even get up. I’ve boarded him before and he has never been like that.
People are nice but I need a vet to actually perform veterinary medicine. We had 2 cats and a dog with them. VCA is fine for getting vaccines but if you need an appointment in the next two days (has happened 3 times in the last year unfortunately) as one of your pets is sick they will not have a spot open. Fine - they are busy - it happens. Unfortunately, they are also negligent. Our cat wasn't doing so well so we brought her in. We were told to monitor her and then bring her back Saturday if she hadn't improved. However, they did not save time for us on Saturday and even if they had, they didn't have the staff present to treat her. This wasn't an attempt on their end to make extra money - it was bad vet care plain and simple. But hey - the people are nice.
I am happy with my visit and felt like my concerns were listened to and understood. My doctor was very friendly and explained things thoroughly to me. I appreciated the time they took with Betsy and figuring out what the issue was. This visit was on the pricier side, though. Betsy is a 100 lbs Great Pyrenees with a skin infection and ear infection. My total costs was $710 for her visit including medicine. However, they were willing to work with me to bring the price down a bit and I feel like that shines through more than the actual pricing. I do realize that since I am in Seattle and Betsy is a big dog that my costs for her will be higher. Thank you to the staff at VCA and hoping for improvements with Betsy in the next couple of weeks.
VCA West Seattle, Hard to connect if you truly have a urgent situation. Staff is friendly Dr's are friendly and "clinical" I just started going here. I had a $25 new patient coupon that didn't get applied at time of service for 2 dogs. I emailed and got no response. I did however receive 4 follow up calls after emailing through the website each said they would put me in contact to address the issue. It has not been credited as of yet. but like the pushy follow up i received 4 different calls overlapping this issue and no resolution as of yet. I also got calls to schedule an appointment to receive the $25 coupon after I already had the visits. I am just trying to get the $25 credit for 2 dogs already seen as new patients.
Be careful of this animal hospital. They are scammers. After successfully treating my dog for IBD, she was out on a special diet. I ordered a large quantity and received as ordered. It was suppose to be a one time order. The following month they processed and delivered another order for me even though I sent two emails and a follow up phone call saying I did not place or want the order. The front desk said I did not order from their website but was linked to a corporate website. So I have another food order totaling almost $360.00 that I did not order. The WEST SEATTLE VET HOSPITAL SAID SO SORRY BUT WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING. Now I am trying to cancel my account with them but have had no luck so far.
Between my dog and my 2 senior cats, I have been working with the West Seattle VCA for many years, and my pets and I have ALWAYS had outstanding experiences at this VCA! All of the staff that I have worked with there are truly exceptional-- professional at all times, and demonstrating genuine care, compassion, support, and love of animals at all times too. Moreover, the medical care/services at this VCA are absolutely top-notch. I am grateful to have this VCA in my neighborhood and I wouldn't go anywhere else! Sincerely, Deanna Armstrong
Prices here are very expensive compared to other vets in the area. They schedule appointments way out and twice they called us the morning of an appointment with a change to necessary procedures and a much higher price than originally quoted. One receptionist told us we could get a discount for coming in earlier to our appointment and then the other one denied that this was said. Down the road we found prices at less than half the cost with a vet that exhibited much more flexibility, clearer communication and greater compassion.
I can't say enough positive about this place. They not only know my dog, William, but they celebrate his arrival. He loves going there. The care is amazing, I have cried with disbelief at how wonderful these people are. I love this place and every single person who works there, from receptionist to the doctors...even the techs who rushed out with a stretcher to retrieve my injured William from my car....they were so nice. William wagged his tail even as he was carried in. I never thought a place like this could exist.
I hope I never move because I never want to take my dog anywhere else. They’re the best. So thorough, so gentle, so thoughtful. They talk you through everything step by step. They ALWAYS answer the phone and any “hold” is super short. When they’re closed or booked, they recommend urgent and emergency care centers nearby. When I have questions and concerns regarding my dog, something she did, ate, etc. they walk me through everything on the phone for free. Literally the best vet I’ve ever been to. Ziggy agrees!
We have taken our dogs to VCA/ West Seattle for the last 8-9 years. We have always had very postive experience, both in the care of the dogs as well as in customer service. I am shocked to see the negative reviews. Recently, we took our dog in to check for hip pain. Instead of ordering CT scans or X rays, the vet spent considerable time watching our dog running (on leash in the almost empty parking lot), climbing steps etc and came up with a conservative plan for care. I will certainly continue to go there.
Fantastic experience at VCA West Seattle! Our puppy ate a small tennis ball, and we were desperate to get an extraction surgery as soon as possible. VCA West Seattle took us immediately and performed a successful surgery the very next day. Dr. Wick, our surgeon, was incredibly caring and professional. Our puppy even got a Certificate for a successful surgery from the super friendly VCA West Seattle staff :) We can always rely on VCA West Seattle for emergency and routine care for our puppy! 10/10 Recommend!
I visited VCA on the absolute worst day of my life. My diabetic alert dog had a sudden heart attack, and I rushed to VCA without calling ahead. The staff at VCA promptly answered the door immediately recognizing the sudden emergency. Unfortunately, my dog was already gone by the time we arrived. The vets at VCA were so kind, and patient with me as I processed what had happened. The team took great care of my Sadie, and me. If you are looking for a vet I can assure you empathetic ones work here.
I had two pretty good experiences taking my dog here, but they have been impossible to contact for the last several weeks for both scheduling appointments and ordering prescription refills. When you can get a hold of someone on the phone, they're great, but that's only been about 10% of the time in my experience. After several unreturned voicemails and emails for my dog's joint issues and flea treatment, I felt it was in the best interest of my pup to find a more responsive vet.
When I lost my dog Oliver this summer I didn’t know where to go or what to do. I never planned on him passing suddenly and We thought we had more time before making that big decision. I called, they were very transparent with services and prices. When I finally went to pick up his ashes (took me months to finally be able to go without crying) I was surprised with the beautiful mementos received. You guys were there to help during that time and I will forever be grateful.
While you’re inside luxuriating in your air-conditioned and outdated Covid protocols, keep in mind that you’re forcing old people and their pets to wait outside in the blistering heat. A visit to the vet is stressful enough without adding this strain on our health and relationship. On top of that, I have to sit (outside in the heat) through a lengthy sales pitch, and even lengthier push back, from your staff in order to ransom my pet. No means no.
VCA has provided fantastic care for my animals--for regular care, urgent care, and end of life care under tragic and sudden circumstances. The staff is wonderful and we've taken all our pets here since moving to Seattle. I've had to take my animals to local emergency hospitals since VCA doesn't perform those services and is not open 24 hours, but they were always helpful in recommending alternative care outside of VCA when necessary.
It's unbelievable that a veterinary hospital doesn't have the best interests of the animal in mind. They turned away a dog in critical condition, and instead of recommending the nearest emergency facility, instead recommended their corporate partner 40 minutes away. It's unconscionable that they wouldn't even attempt to stabilize the pup for transport and instead just completely rejected offering any help whatsoever.
My border collie developed an issue with her eye on a Friday late afternoon, I called VCA and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. They were able to fit her in despite a busy schedule. They made me feel that Abbey was in great hands, they asked clear and valid questions without making me feel any more worried than I was. I am so thankful to have such a great team of animal lovers taking care of my pups!
After trying a few other vets in the area, we started going to VCA a year ago when we moved to West Seattle. The staff here is warm and gentle with my dog, they are all very knowledgeable, the facilities are clean and the pricing is reasonable. Recently, my dog had to have emergency surgery and they had great bedside manner and gave our dog excellent care. I'm super happy to have found them!
Dr. Plosky and Dr. Bose are fantastic, and the technicians and staff are just great. We’ve brought our animals to West Seattle VCA for years, and referred our friends for their pets’ care. We’ve gotten stellar care for our dogs and cats, especially when there have been major health issues that required close attention and monitoring. Highly recommend!
My dog cut his tongue on a pair of scissors around dinner time, and as I was panicked trying to drive and call our usual vet, who was closing, we passed VCA. They were incredibly helpful and saw our dog almost immediately, treating him like family. They even called to follow up on how he was doing a few days later!
Everyone here has been above and beyond helpful and caring when it comes to animal care. They’ve done everything to ensure my very timid puppy feels safe and welcome, every time we are in, to the point where is actually excited to go to the vet—not something you hear very often. Highly recommended.
We had to say goodbye to our fur baby and with the pandemic couldn’t get anyone in home in time. They got us a spot right away same day, and the vet was so calm and compassionate and told him until the very end how much he was loved. Thank you so much for handling us with care.
I was honestly a little nervous to take my dog to the vet. He can be a little anxious towards other people and animals. They made the experience so amazing and really made my dog and I comfortable and welcome. They truly have a lot of love for animals…and that is EVERYTHING!
We love coming here- staff are lovely and we always feel like our pets are very well taken care of. However, for anything other than planned routine care we usually have to go somewhere else because wait times can be up to a month. Would love it if VCA could improve on this!
Wow. What a staff. Friendly is not strong enough. We feel like family. From Taylor at the Front Desk greeting and soiling Alkey to Shaina the Vet Tech so kind and thorough. Doc Wick was so sweet she warm I just know my girl is well cared for. Thanks guys. You’re awesome!
We made an appointment for our dog six weeks ago for breathing problems. The day of the appointment the called and needed her old records to be seen. Why did they wait until the last day. We have been waiting for SIX weeks to get her some help. DO NOT expect help here!
They are like family to us. Kona doesn't mind going there and they always welcome him and treat him like a spoiled puppy dog...which he is. Love the folks who work there. 12/26/17 Update: They even had Santa come in for pet pictures. That are awesome!
If you like sitting in your car and talking to the vet on the phone while in the parking lot – this is the place for you. Kinda lame, they won’t even let you be with your dog when the vet looks at your pet. Love how they freak out about masks.
They are so kind and sweet to my incredibly anxious Great Dane. They were able to calm her down to finish and exam and give her vaccines! They were also prompt and responsive. I really appreciate them trying as hard as they do. :)
I love coming here! We've been visiting since our puppy was 4 weeks old and I haven't been disappointed at all. The receptionist are warm and welcoming, vet techs are the same, and Dr. Bose has been perfect with our pup. 10/10
All staff provide wonderful service for my three cats and instructed the medication carefully. Dr. Wick is so nice for rechecking my cat’s eye illness. I am satisfied with every visit.
Churro has always been attending this clinic and we are very satisfied with the care here! He got all his vaccinations here, and the staff is very friendly
